I was wondering, my phone is Samsung Vibrant, can I install ROMs posted under teh Samsung Galaxy S I9000 section?? I see there some quite popular roms like Darky's. I checked under captivate -- captivate folks have it too, but we do not have it under Vibrant.
The ROM creators in Samsung Galaxy S I9000 do not specify whether the ROMs can be used by Vibrant phones..

Do not install a i9000 ROM to the vibrant!! You'll have all kinds of issues!

Cuz Captivate ROM devs ported it to the captivate....im sure Darky's Rom was developed specifically for the I9000.....but the ROM must be ported to run on another phone.

yes it is. you won`t have total full functionality but it does work and works well. I use it with my telus SGH T959D and it runs very smooth.

T959D is very different from our Vibrants.
.....and yes, with tweaking any i9000 rom will work on the Vibrant, but that wasn't his question and I didn't want to get his hopes up.
Hey I have an original Galaxy S and thinking about getting the new beast. My main question is it possible to port touchwiz 4 to the Galaxy S 1? I want to try it out and see how different everything is. Would any of you possibly like to post it?

Have you taken a look in the Galaxy S forum? It's been ported already and there are rom available with it included. Have a look there.

Cm7 is aosp, no touchwiz in it at all. You'll need to wait for samsung to release gingerbread for your phone.

UnNamed or Serendipidy 8 are the two top from my opinion only. UnNamed support is still ongoing and continues to be improved and tweaked. Serendipidy 8.2 is the last version and the developer has moved on. I have tried both and they are both very similar and either is a great choice.
Try em all.. find out which one YOU like. After all, there is no best, only favorite flavors

The best rom for people that dont read the rules or try roms for themselves is the stock rom.

I im thinking about getting this phone and was wondering if you can flash ROM's from the international version of the samsung galaxy s II, i know that on my inspire 4G i can flash desire HD ROM's, thank you.

Many I9100 roms can be flashed using Entropy512's ROM Hellraiser for I777. Check out the thread in the development forum.
as said use the hellraiser just make sure its a samsung rom otherwise it won't work completely if i remember correctly

Yeah, CM7-derived ROMs can't be Hellraised - but we already have native CM7.
All the different ROMs that I have tried (Criskelo, CheckRom, Sensation, Villain) have worked fairly well with the Hellraiser package. There are supposedly a few small problems which didn't really effect me at all but will be ironed out eventually.

Sorry if this has already been answered, but I've searched far and wide, and only been able to find the TW UX Launcher and a port of the very early 4.0.3 I9300 firmware. So that already kind of indicates an answer to my question, but I'd rather ask to make sure.

None as of the moment. There was a project long time ago about porting i9300 rom to sgs2 but that project was abandoned. I saw one rom that was skinned with sgs3 theme and based on stock ics for sgs2 but unfortunately the dev has been banned due to creating multiple accounts and giving other roms a bad name (something like that).
