Hi, I have used SKP on my GT 540, now I've bought X10.
I've installed SKP, went to settings, keyboard, and there activated SKP.
But then when I enter SMS it displays standard android keyboart, not SKP.
How to fix that?

Long press the area with the text in it (where your words appear when you type) sorry very hard to explain that.
then select input method, and choose smart keyboard.

Has anybody worked out how to remove the language bar which pops up when texting yet? If I have the sudden urge to switch to Catalan half way through a text I will do it long-hand, that bar takes up too much of the already small screen!
Could you post a photo of what you mean, cost I don't get any language bar come up

I cant post a pic of it at the moment, but let me try to explain it better. When i go to enter text using the hardware keyboard a blue bar appears at the bottom of the screen (taking up approx 1/5 of the screen) with "Eng" on the left and an icon to show the status of the Caps lock on the right, along with a close button. This annoys the hell out of me as often when filling in passwords etc it covers up the "Ok" button.
Only way I found on mini pro is
Settings - Locale & Text
Uncheck the default input tick box
This works well on mini pro but stops you using virtual keyboard

Is a good intermediate solution but someone knows a way to get rid of this bar without losing the virtual keyboard?
It's build in built-in keyboard and I think it could not be removed (not easily without root hacks). The half-solution without root is to use another software keyboard.
Yeah installing third party keyboard software gets rid of the blue language bar.
I'm using SlideIt Keyboard which changes the virtual keyboard to a funky Swype-like keyboard but removes the language bar when using the hardware keyboard.

Can anyone recomend a decent keyboard replacement.
Also, i've asked this before (didn't get much of a reposnse) but is there a way to get spell check with the hardware keyboard?

I use AnySoftKeyboard, which is free and provides a reasonably good keyboard for when I don't want to open the hardware keyboard.

Currently there doesn't appear to be one.
I have ended up installing AnySoft keyboard too. Its ok, but removes the function where you could long-press a key to access the blue alternate option on it. It has removed the language bar though so its good enough for me!
guys, just a little problem:
I downloaded the latest version and, after enabling the keyboard settings menu - language and keyboard,
when I open a text message, and I try to change the input method, nothing shows, I have the ability to change keyboard
always appears the original, I tried to reboot to disable keybord smart, to re-enable it, but nothing,
When I click on "integration method" returns to the screen with the original keyboard, not smart .. Why?
something wrong? well, I looked around, and I have not found anyone with my problem ..
tips?
hello, I have resolved, I was wrong in practice once you've enabled the keyboard settings menu, open a new sms, and hold on "type text here" so you can choose the input method!
Ha just found this thanks my boss has a wildfire and didn't like the standard keyboard and me having a Galaxy S I thought oh thats easy lets get him a new one.
I had the same problem I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to change the default keyboard glad you figured it out I was there for ages.
Maybe its just you and me
Hi All
I am Running Android 3.1 on my Samsung GT 10.1 and are loving the Tablet Keyboard Free that gives me a split keyboard.
My problem is that when I put in my password on the lockscreen it just gives me my old default normal keyboard.
Is there a way to change so that Tablet Keyboard Free is used when i am entering my password on the lockscreen??
Tnx
HUmm, guess i can NOT change the keyboard that pops up on the lockscreen!
OR????
?? Still lokking for a solution
I am facing the same problem. I am using Swype, but on the lock screen the standard keyboard pops up.

Tnx for your reply, i was starting to think i was the only one that was having this "problem"
This maybe a stupid question, but what button do I need to press to switch from the stock Samsung keyboard to a different one that i have installed?
I would like to do it on the fly and switching between different keyboards while typing....
The other keyboard I have installed has a dedicated button to allow me to switch back to samsung, not the other way around
Any idea?
Hey mg_k I don't believe you can do that using the stock Samsung keyboard. I had a little fiddle and the only way I found you could switch is to go to Settings > Keyboard and input > select the keyboard you want.

That's ridiculous on Samsung's part
oh well ICS keyboard here i come
Thanks for the info.
first you must install 3rd party keyboard application in your phone..
to change the keyboard is when you type a message, there will be a keyboard icon in notification bar, just tap it to change the default keyboard.

Yeah that works, only if you have the third-party keyboard enabled

That's the answer I am looking for! Not as elegant as a button within the keyboard...but at least that works.
Thanks heaps
AW 2.0 is supposed to have a screen writing text entry method. I can't find a way to invoke it on ZenWatch 2 large. Long hold on keyboard icon in Messages should do it but that only takes me to a keyboard choice, 'Google Keyboard'. Anyone else?
I have the 1.65 model and I have the same problem. Google assistant isnt working for me either. Says google cannot be reached. Going to factory reset and do a fresh pair up.
My wife has the 1.45 model and just updated hers to 2.0. Everything seems to be working fine on her watch.
Yes, you can use handwriting, much better than the standard keyboard
You have to download it in the playstore on your watch.

Installed but no success
Thanks for that. Installed to watch, app installed normally, Handwriting does not appear an an input option. Reset watch once, no change. Powered off then back on, no change. Handwriting does not appear as an option for text entry. Checked Handwriting app settings and all seems normal there.

You have to enable it. Settings->Personalization->Input Methods then tap Google Handwriting Keyboard to activate. When you go to type, long press the keyboard icon and it should come up with the option to select between the keyboard and handwriting.

Worked for me too. Thanks! Also, doing a fresh sync to my phone got Google Assistant to work! Loving AW 2 so far.
