It's part of the flash package. I tried to see if I could get back to 1.6, if needed.
It worked. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825201
Search for AT&T ROM
Thanks for the fast answer. I've downloaded the x10a shipped 1.6 rom from this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=683793
I also downloaded the flasher. Extracted the flasher, then the rom overwriting some files. Got the device ID, put it into the txt file and then started the bat. Saw a series of commands and it said test end. However, now when I boot up the phone, I get a phone with a yellow exclamation mark. What did I do wrong?

This is the AT&T ROM:
CDA: 1237-3761
Decrypted ROM: X10a - AT&T R2CA016 - http://www.multiupload.com/TNDA6OG60U
I've had better luck with non-GIU flasher, make sure there is a loader.sin file in your firmware folder. My folder has 7 files (with).
EDIT: make sure you choose wipe user data

when i start the flash tool ,
it says press 1 for x10 , when i press 1 it says file not found and press y for wipe....
press y and it says to choose the os, which i choose it as 4...
it finds the phone and does the flashing. but after its done i unplug the phone and turn it on and it gives me the exclamation mark.
also in one of the cmd windows left open after its done it saves batch not found in devid/win7/64.
anyone got any idea what i might be doing wrong ???

The 1st, 1 for X10 is jsut getting the right loader.sin. There should be a "loaders" folder in the root where you extracted the flash. If there is a loader.sin in your "firmware" folder, no problem. But it sounds like you do not. Follow the Flash2.1 thread to find where to get the loader.sin.
The 2nd tries to build a bat file to get your device ID, needs DevID folder. If the DeviceID.txt file in the base directory again should be OK.
Check for loader.sin
If loader.sin does not fix for you I will look into further.
If you got this far repair under PC Companion may work.
Sorry for long post, alternative is to tell you to read, not always helpful to new user.
Hi,
I have purchased Xperia X10a from AT&T currently running Android 1.6. I went through many posts in this forum but couldnot figure out what is the exact way to get Android 2.1 on this phone. I know AT&T has not rolled out 2.1 updates for this phone. I would appreciate if anybody could help me in finding an exact method to get Android 2.1 on my phone now.
Thanks in advance!!!

Read completely thru this then do search in Dev.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=827065
download this
http://www.multiupload.com/9N5BJ7II13
and extract it
you should have 2 folders, x10 flash and the firmware folder. inside the x10flash folder, you will need to create a folder and name it 2.1. open up the firmware folder, copy all contents from that folder and put it in the 2.1 folder you just created in the x10 flashtool folder.
on your phone, go to settings > applications > developement and make sure usb debugging is enabled.
turn your phone off and unplug the usb cable.
run the x10flashtool bat file on your computer. click flash, there will be a separate pop up. highlight 2.1, but do no click ok yet. on your phone (still off), hold the back button while plugging in the usb port. once you see the green LED on your phone, click ok on the flashtool.
it should start flashing.
once it finishes flashing, it may take a couple minutes for your phone to boot back up. if it doesn't turn back on after about 2 minutes after fininshing flashing, press the power button. it may take a few minutes to fully boot up.
once it boots up, click root on the flash tool and follow the instructions.
after rooting, download this

i would suggest only running the JIT option. unless you want to strip everything out of the firmware (you may loose some options you want).
after you get JIT enabled, go into market and purchase root explorer. excellent app to have. once you buy/install that, open root explorer, go to system/app, click mount as R/W. delete these apk's and only these ones (unless you think you want to use any of them)

i would also download launcherpro or another home launcher, after you install a new launcher, you can delete SemcHomeL.apk

Yes it is normal. You can think of H as 3.5G which is better than 3G. It is what every U.S. wireless company is falsely advertising as 4G
I was just wondering about why my phone couldnot get this 'H' network aka 4G network when my phone was running android 1.6 and was not flashed???

Hello everybody!
At first, sorry for my bad english but I've got a really big problem!
After updating the latest stock rom over PC Companion, I wanted to get Root with X10root.apk...so far...after rooting the device I've got the "great" idea to download Market Enabler cause I couldn't see Root Explorer FREE inside the market...
after reboot the disaster...
many apps FC at startup :-(
wrong display resolution :-(
no chance to accept root permission, popup is not shown in cause of the wrong resolution...difficult to explain...
Can't reflash with PCC or SEUS..."no Software avialible for your device!"
Can't install xRecovery:
APK - Can't accept root...the resolution problem
ADB - system read only
What the hell?!?!?!
Any suggestions? My Girlfriend will kill me if she notice whats up with her X10
P.S. Superuser don't disappear after factory reset...is this normal??
In this case I've got no warranty...right???
Oh damn...my girl REALLY killing me...
Hello Jozinek, thanks for the quick reply...
do you mean this:

X10 Flash tool??
I tried it serveral times with the "SE Flash Driver" installed...it alway says:
"Waiting for device" or "Waiting for Xperia"...something like that...
I clicked on the FLASH button...then connected the device with pressed hold button for recovery...Result: Waiting for Xperia...
Click in the flasher to flash until you see waiting for device (or something like that)
Turn the phone off hold the back button then quickly plug the usb cable in the mini and hold
Does it not flash close the flasher on your pc and try over again!
Sent from my U20i using XDA App
Or try it in another windows version.
Worked for me.
flash tool not working on xp but working on windows 7.
I've tried EVERYTHING!!!!!
deinstalled all drivers...reinstalled...etc...
Update with PCC, SEUS, X10 Flash Tool (my last hope)
Then I've tried it on my mates laptop with windows 7...no luck again...PCC,SEUS,Flash Tool...I was really desperate at this point!!!
Now I tried again, another mate, another computer...
First try with PCC...no problem...reflash...READY!!!
But...........WTF?????
Why PCC says "No update for your device" on 2 different PCs and finally works on the third one?? This could not be a driver problem!!
Now I'm very glad not need to hide from my girlfriend!
Glad to see that you revived your GFs phone
Just to inform you, x10 series is hard to brick.. I brick it countless of times and i just reflash it with Binary Flash tool.
Sometimes your windows and drivers can be a problem. For instance, when i bought my Mini it was on stocked android 1.6, when i tryed to update him i got message that there is no update for my phone. I googled a bit and visit SE site, and there it is, my FW was listed as a part of 2.1 update, but again, i was unable to update. I reinstalled my Win (from XP to Win7) and first thing that i do is to try to update my Mini.. And there it is! Update available!!
Anyway.. Mini cant be bricked, after everything that i did to him, so many reflashes and it works like a charm.
i, hi also bricked my GD phone after trying to debrand it.
i replace the build.prop file with this one E10i_build.prop_UK_Generic and then i rebooted.
since this time, the only thing that appears on my screen is sony ericsson, then it reboots.....
what can i do to make it work again?
thanks for your help.
finally i managed to make it work again.
i m relieved
I don't know about PC Companion, I prefer the SE Update Service (SEUS).
Even tought there are no newer Firmware, it's always possible to reinstall/repair with the same firmware as the phone already have.
Used SEUS for that several times trying to revive a M1i Aspen. Luckily the X10 Mini is a little harder to brick
i guess you're german? then try this
h t t p ://w w w.android-hilfe.de/root-hacking-modding-fuer-xperia-x10-mini-mini-pro/53698-x10-mini-e10i-mini-pro-u20i-german-2-1-incl-flashtool.html
müsste auf jedenfall funktionieren =)
wenn du hilfe brauchst, sag bescheid
ftf verses rar?
My x10 mini pro is also bricked. It just looping when rebooting. I trying to use flashtool to fix it, but I am stuck.
Downloaded the U20i 2.1 firmware. But, this is a rar file. The flashtool wants a ftf file. How do I manage this problem?

a rar file is just a compressed file (like a .zip)
if your on windows, download 7zip or WinRar and try extracting the rar file.. (you might find the files that you need are in there) flashtool requires a bunch of .sin files should be 8 or 9 of them... loader.sin, system.sin etc
stick these in the firmware folder of flashtool and you should be good to go.
(I was the first person to test "Flashtool" for Bin4ry on the X10mini last year and I have never had a problem with it)

Ok, so here is what I did:
I have a X10i with R1FB001 firmware with Android 1.6 and I flashed a X10i_2.0.A.0.504_Generic.ftf 2.1 firmware using X10FlashTool. Now I can’t turn on my phone anymore. First, it vibrated when I pressed the power button, but it remained turned off.
Sometimes when I plug it into my computer, if I let it long enough, it connects in flash menu and the LED turns green. I tried to install other firmware using SEUS but It sais I already have the latest software and I do not have a reinstall button.
I also flashed a X10i_2.1.A.435_GLOBAL-GGL GENERIC 1232-9897 2.1 firmware but I get the same results. Also, despite the fact that I let it charge over the night, when I press the power button, the LED indicates that there is no battery.
Did I bircked my phone? Can someone help me?

Use the repair option on SEUS, should guide you though it.
Found it, flashed it, now it works. Thank you a lot. I got a bit scared. The only thing is that I am stuck at 1.6. I have rooted it, installed the files from xRecovery, but when I want to enter the recovery menu, and press back, noting happens.
But this is another problem. Should I start another topic?
Anyway, thank you a lot. You saved me!

well you're back on 1.6 why not just update to 2.1 with seus or pc companion?
I think you did't install xrecovery the right way. Try it again or you could try and drop the xrecovery files in system/bin with root explorer
PC Companion and SEUS say that I have allready the latest software (wich I don't). As for xRecovery, I used the manual method with root explorer from the begining, because I couldn't install xRecovery as an app. I also tried to boot recovery with Quick Boot, but nothing. Any other ideas?

Ok try this: install root explorer, open root explorer and go to /system. Change R/O into R/W(the button in the right top corner) search for a file called build.prop and long press it untill a menu pops up. Select 'open in text editor'. Scroll down to:
ro.semc.version.cust=XXXX-XXXX
ro.product.name=x10_XXXX-XXXX
(the XXXX-XXXX resamble some numbers)
and change both the XXXX-XXXX into 1232-9897 press menu, save & exit.
Reboot the phone and start up pc companion. Choose in pc companion the update option and choose repair and follow the procedure.\
good luck

Is there a way to flash a custom ROM without recovery menu? Any suggestions? Also, thank you very much for helping me. I had other Android phones and had no problems rooting them and installing custom ROMs, but this one is tricky. Thank you for the help! I really need it.

Strange, i've flashed my x10 several times with this routine. After changing the numers in the build.prop did you restart the phone before you repaired it with pc companion?
I forgot to say this: before you repair the phone with pc companion go to windows explorer and go to this location(make sure you can see hidden files & folders):
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sony Ericsson\Update Engine\
And delete the folder called db

PC Companion does not repair the phone. I go through the process, but somewere it gives me a Installation error saying ”unable to install or start phone software update components”.
In Build.prop I don't have ro.semc.version.cust and ro.product.name at all.
I only have ro.semc.version.fs that has the XXXX-XXXX number.
I don't have the db folder in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sony Ericsson\Update Engine\ although I can see hidden files. I deleted the db folder from Update Service, but SEUS still says that there is no software update for my phone. And I don't have a Repair option in SEUS. I will try installing an older version, maybe it will give me the option to Repair
So... other ways to flash a custom ROM? Or some other way to enter the recovery menu?

Ok, I did it and now PC companion says that I have a new software update. If I check from the phone menu, it also says that a 2.1 update is available and that I should install it from my PC.
When I click the update in PC companion and arrive at the second step, ”Prepare”, it is downloading something and then it says "Preparing your computer for software update" But it doesn't finish the step and it gives me a "Instalation error: unable to install or start phone software update components". Is this because of the phone or it has something to do with my laptop? I reinstalled PC companion, but I get the same thing.
I am begining to lose my fate and I can't stand the 1.6 timescaped system anymore. I want stock Froyo or Gingerbread (or at least official 2.1)

Is this because of the phone or it has something to do with my laptop? I reinstalled PC companion, but I get the same thing.
I am begining to lose my fate and I can't stand the 1.6 timescaped system anymore. I want stock Froyo or Gingerbread (or at least official 2.1)

hm okay, we are a step closer did you also try it with SEUS? (dont forget: if you are going to use seus you have to delte the db folder in C:\Program Files\Sony Ericsson\Update Service)
Or can you try it on a different computer?

Tried with SEUS, still says I already have the latest software, and it shows me no repair button (Deleted the db folder, although, when I start SEUS, db comes back as it was before. I deleted it after I started SEUS, but I can't delete 2 files, because they are being used by the program). I am using the version 2.11.1.9 and tried to install a earlier version, but even that installs this one.
Tried from another computer but same results.
Any other tricks? Maybe some that can help me install a custom ROM?
If your an at & t user this maybe of interest to you http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1012380 or perhaps just download the flashtool (follow a link in my sig) and a global generic 2.1 rom from xda and flash it with flashtool. Or just go nuts and install a custom rom which you can learn all about how to do from my guide when you have 2.1 running. Hopefully this will be of some use to you.
Edit use this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=885956 it comes pre rooted a.d with xrecovery already installed, use the flashtool to flash it ;-)

Ok, but what about this: "You need rooted 2.1 rom with xRecovery working to install this firmware! If you already flashed the latest firmware with SEUS, please downgrade OR root it using THIS thread." ??
And this: "3. Boot into xRecovery and install update.zip" ? I can't install xRecovery either. Tried also to reboot recovery from flashtool, but does not work. (I have done all the steps with manual instalation of xRecovery files)
I have 1.6, I flashed a 2.0.A.0.504_Generic.ftf before, but after doing so, my phone does not turn on. I will try your method and post the result. Hopefully it works.
Hi, everyone I just joined this forum. I have X10i with firmware 2.1. While searching the thread i came acrosss terms like root, xrecovery, flashing, MT, generic etc. Can someone help me out what these terms mean. I wanted to upgrade my phone to gingerbread. Previously I am an iphone user So i am total noob to this OS and the phone
Thanks in advance
good get away from iphone
root--same thing as jailbreak
xrecovery-- a badass tool that lets you flash roms onto your phone.
flashing-- umm... it is like installing a modified version of even the legit version on the device
generic-- A product having no brand name or registered trademark
example= for device there is branded or non branded
branded means that a company like ATT or Rogers approves that firmware or OS version. So when you turn your phone on, you will usually see something related to them. like an animation of the att world
generic--- clean install. no company restrictions. just regular
ok links for all that crap above
2.3.3 firmware (does not matter if you download x10a or x10i)
Generic-----

What should i Do now One thing more i was goignaround the threads looking for solution So in one thread it said that firmware can ber installed through flash tool 0.2.5
I tried that too and amazingly the flashing goes all the way to the end on 0.2.5 in the end i get the msg that flashing complete and remove the phone but when i remove the phone and turn it on it just vibrates and small blip of green flash led than nothing
What could be the problem
1. Download Flashtool from
http://doomlord.sylvester20007.com/x10/x10_gb/FlashTool_0.2.9.1-GBready_root_xRec.exe
2. Download the generic 2.3 ROM of your choice
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11038646&postcount=1
Personally I would get the Global version unless you can find your country specific one.
Global version download - http://www.multiupload.com/JEXUAHAZTL
3.
a) connect your phone to your PC, make sure it installs the drivers (if your Sony software is working it is fine)
b) Extract Flashtool into a directory you know
c) Extract the firmware file you downloaded. And move the ftf file into the "firmware" directory of Flashtool
d) Make sure your phone is not connected to the PC and is off.
e) Run Flashtool, click on Flash and select the firmware you have just downloaded.
f) It will give you the same instruction - holding the "back" key, (phone still off) connect it to the PC. If you did this correctly, the light will be green and it will start flashing your phone.
g) After it is completed, reboot your phone once or twice and check that it is working.
4. Installing xrecovery and rooting refer to instructions (you already have all the files from when you download in step 1)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1196808
Let me know when you have completed the steps above.
Thanks for advice downloading it now and going to try and will let now about the results

I have flash tool 0.2.5,0.2.8,0.2.9,0.3.0
Have tried them all only 0.2.5 goes all the way to the end but when i turn on the phone it only virbrates and green led flashes for sec than nothing
When you reboot is there anything showing on the screen? Sony logo...anything? If yes, wait it can take a long time for a new rom to install. If no, I think you need to revert back to the 2.1 rom, root and install busybox, superuser, and xrecovery. once thats done you can backup your rom and data so you don't get stuck updating or if you have trouble with a custom rom etc. Also I think your battery stats should be wiped using xrecovery, it sounds like SEUS checked this and the file said your battery was too low to continue the update. Here is a good place to start.

Try taking the battery out and then try flashing again. Which ftf file are you flashing or selecting in the flash program. You need to use at least a 0.2.9 version of the flashtool.... if you use 0.2.5 start with the 2.1.54 ROM first.
