Hi,
I have my X10 like 2 weeks and i just decide to flash it with a custom room.
But i have some probleme.
My wifi connection dont want to connect itself,i need to delete my network and readd to can connect.
And when i disable my 3G network with apndroid or with the widget power control and reenable it later like 5 min it dont work i need to restart my phone to have the 3g connection back.
Thanks for your help.
Sorry for my bad english,i am frensh
why do french ppl always apologize for their english.. don't get me wrong though, you have all the right to apologize for your english
Anyhoo, what baseband you got going on your x10?
To check, go to settings --> scroll all the way down to 'about the phone' --> then it should say Basebandversion *.*.**
thats the number we need..
because you're french, and its common you guys just like to translate everything, baseband will be named like: bande de base, or bande étroite, or something like that
its 2.1.54
please flash 2.1.58.
3g, gps, wifi very good.

There is probably a way to do it through Terminal Emulator.. but can't seem to find how..
(great help huh )
Thx for your help.
You have any idea for the wifi?
When i typ su kill-server nothing happen.
however i cant post on the rom thread i need more post
One more post, and you are allowed to post there.. so you want to talk about the weather? It's lovely ain't it?
Anyway, about the wifi (and the other problems), I recommend you switch to Cyanogen CM7.0 RC2 v009 Gingerbread 2.3.3. As long as don't care that you can't record HD video, this ROM is faster and more stable (when it comes to wifi/BT.. thats my opinion).
I had the same problem with wifi kept disconnecting. Haven't really had that issue anymore now im using cm7.
(don't forget to 'downgrade' your baseband by flashing the included .52 baseband)
Why not if i have time this week end,i will flash my phone to CM7.
But can you tell me if the batterie will drain faster or not?
Actually i need to charge my phone everyday
I abuse my phone when it comes to usage, but i manage with ease to make it 1 day, with normal usage, 2 days. But have to say, that i normally don't pay that much attention to battery drainage. I sleep every night, and so does my phone (usually in the charger )
oki i sleep every night too
I probably update to CM7
Thx for your help
what kind of wifi network? I used advanced wifi configurator
its my personnal network at home
While I was running the Stock SE 2.1 .435 release (rooted of course) my X10 was capable of automatically switching between the GSM data connection to any of my configured Wifi networks (at work and at home) without any user interaction.
I have a friend with a Motorola Milestone on 2.1 with this same behaviour.
Every 2.2 ROM I have loaded seems to have a problem with regards to this feature. Basically I have to perform a manual switch but here are two of the behaviours I have noticed.
On FreeX10 the SSID basically becomes disabled. If I am at home and connected to my home network and leave the cell area my 3G network becomes established and everything is fine. Once I get back home within the cell area of my WiFi network the WiFi connection does not become active. Instead I have to go into Wireless Settings and that's when I see it is disabled. Long press the SSID and choosing Connect gets me connected.
On [Cyanogen6.1.3]gingerbread[v01] the SSID does not get disabled but rather it continuously fails. Same use case as above except when I go into Wireless Settings I see the SSID "Connecting" and then failing and entering the "Remembered" state.
My friend with the Milestone recently upgraded to 2.2 and will test this scenario to see if it is inherent to 2.2.
My question is, would it be possible to take the 2.1 Wifi component and use that in the 2.2 ROMs?
It would be great this could get fixed, same problem is with the gingerbread roms.
Like u said, it doesn't even help when switching WiFi off/on again using my WiFi widget. U have to manually press connect on your specific WiFi connection.
Pain in the ass!
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I have the same problems, tried both roms and ended up sticking with Cyanogen, simply because it was less of a pain re wifi but i still have reconnection problems when leaving my house. The answer is to manually turn off wifi then leave, then reengage wifi manually when i return. A pain but, a small one
Agreed. Toggling the power does not help.
If it is possible to take the WiFi component (for lack of a better word) from another build I strongly suggest considering .435 because it worked phenominally under various conditions.
yea my wifi doesn't seem to work well either with the FreeX10 rom
I assume you already tried Blade Wifi Fix? If not, do so.
The Blade fix was included in the CM ROM I installed. It looks like all it did was power cycle the wifi which as already stated doesn't help.

Try to delete included BladeWifiFix and reboot test again and if still not working install BladeWifiFix new from Market and test again.

FreeX10 is almost the same you can try it there too. What it does? Fix Wifi maybe, for some it fixes for some not so just try it you dont loose anything^^
i have been running free x10 for 3 months i suppose. it switches fine for me.
there where issues of WIFI NOT CONNECTING , no problems of switching though as u stated. so i installed blade wifi and everything was well.
i suggest what wolf says.

I know what it is intended to do but I was wondering how it was doing it. being a technical person I don't like the shotgun approach because the end results are very hard to interpret if you don't know what you are actually doing
but I digress I have installed it and I will be testing as soon as I get home

hi,
after reading this i though ...
me and wolf include blade wifi on our roms.
for me i don`t have any issue regarding wifi on my rom. i get out of home with wifi connected do a 1 hour trip to my work and when i get there wifi pick signal without any issue.
but......
i don`t check right away, so.
like i said me and wolf we include blade wifi and do some changes regarding build.prop to save some battery. one of the most consumer of battery is the wifi.
on SE roms search for wifi every 15 seconds. on mine i change that to 380 sec and wolf around 200 (i think) so...could this be the cause of ????
i personally don`t believe removing blade will do any difference but...maybe those who had this issues try to change build.prop to 15sec ?
well we might be onto something...after installing Blade I was able to switch but I did not time it...seems to have taken quite some time though. I'll time it next time but I'm sure since it will vary because it looks like it runs a timer and I don't know what the details are.
I wonder if Z made the same changes to build.prop as you guys have. I would be interested in testing without this change.
Also, it would be great to know what Blade actually does. I wonder if it circumvents the changes you made to the intervals in build.prop.
Also, any idea as to whether we can use the WiFi component from the .435 build in these ROMs?
Ren,
Is it possible to go in and change the value in build.prop:
wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=
Without reloading the ROM?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Yes.
Through root explorer. Just make sure you check all boxes on permitions and after that reboot.

OK. I've been watching what Blade does and all it seems to do is reinitialize the wifi. Seems overkill so I found this:
http://developer.android.com/reference/android/net/wifi/WifiConfiguration.Status.html
I want to write an app that will monitor configured networks and set their status to Enabled.
The challenge for me is that I've never developed an app before but I have the SDK installed and it recognized my x10 so I'm good to go. Ill try to get as far as I can but I will need some help. Is there anyone interested in offering themselves as a resource if/when I need some help?

I can turn my phone off after sleeping a while, and I have full bars on wifi signal, but no internet access...have to turn wifi off, then turn it back on to be connected again
Anyone having a similar issue or find a fix?
This is really really really annoying, and it's not the router, happens any time I'm on wifi
did you happen to temp root your phone ?
i had the same problem . I had temp rooted my phone then fully rooted it and then i stated having that problem.
What i did was go into WiFi setting and forget/remove your network. Reboot pull battey just because , start it up reconnect to WiFi and it hasn't happened since.
Edit : if that happens to work let me know .

didn't work
did it 3 times
that is unfortunate.
that is a very annoying problem.
only other thing i can think of is after you forget your network turn wifi off then reboot.
Those are the only thing i did and it worked for me .
have you tried going into WiFi setting then menu then advanced?
maybe change its sleep policy around.
as of now when my phone sleeps the WiFi icon will shut off . when i turn it on give a few seconds and it reconnects.
before when my phone would sleep, i turn it on WiFi would still be on but it wouldn't load any pages until i turned it off and on again.

That was a problem with the Temp. Root. If you went right from Temp. Root to full with out flashing, I recommend you flash right now, before you get too much customization done on your phone. Flash everything off of it and remove the root and turn S-ON. Then flash once more and re s-off and root. That's how I had to fix it on my sisters phone.
if all else fails and you dont want to re root you could try wifi fixer in the market
just flashed a new kernel (silverneedle)
going to see if that alleviates the issue

Can you explain what application you are running and how you make it work as you turned the phone on ?
You can download this GPS Test from the market to test your GPS signal strength.

I just want to understand how this device may work for two days and then goes bad
I have Xperia Mini with custom ICS rom, and I have this problem on every ICS rom I try:
When I play video on youtube, it just stops after a while, and its showing like its loading, but it wont load, no matter how much I wait it...
Anyone else who had this problem and solved it?
EDIT: This also hapens on an Xperia Mini Pro on my friend, also with custom ICS rom.
PLEASE, no responses like Have you tried this, have you tried that, I WANT someone who knows whats going on to help me.
Thanks
I had exactly the same problem on my mini. I tried using tubegod and it worked for some time then that too stopped. Check this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695249
Finally I went to Sony and tested it on their WiFi and it worked there. So it must be a problem in your ISP.

No, its not that, and it isn't happening just on my phone and only on the WI-FI I have home, it's probably something to do with the custom ICS roms

Do you mean to say that youtube works fine on stock ics? If it is not a problem with your wifi devices, then it must be a problem with the router. Just reset your router to default settings and re-configure it. Also, set the channel of wifi between 1-3.
Weird.... it really was my router... here, have my thanks
Actually wait... it happened again.. tried with channels 1, 2 and 3, still stops, any idea if I should set the frequency to be 20/40MHz or to leave it at 20MHz?

Isn't there any option of auto frequency? Because my router has that and it sends mixed signals.
Screw it, if it happens again I will call my ISP and ask them about it
