Yes I'm sure, and I was trying to do the d101 update, and this also shows up when I try and do a backup
If you havent already download Rom Manager and reflash CWM. Soemtimes people tell you to flash an older version then reflash the newest version.

Whenever I try to install an older version, I get a message saying "An error occurred while downloading your recovery" I've tried it on 3G and Wifi, and I can download other things just fine.
Do you have the update.zip for CWM still on your sdcard? If so reboot into recovery using the power and volume key, it should take you to the Samsung recovery, then go to apply update.zip.

I just get sent back to CWM and I get the same error. Would removing ROM Manager remove CWM?
In order to have a fully working rom manager, you have to flash the clockworkmod.tar kernal. I was having the exact same issues, I couldn't do a backup or restore. You will have to do odin on your phone.

Exactly.
You cannot install CWM without odin / redbend / etc. There are no shortcuts. Just downloading ROM Manager and hoping that you're special or lucky is not enough to make this work.
Follow the instructions.
I guess I had assumes he had already done that.
I installed it through rom manager.
And every time I wanna go to recovery
It goes to the android recovery and not
clock mod's.
I also get a check sum error and it can open something
Can anyone plz tell me what's wrong?
Thanks
Did you follow the steps koush gave in his thread for CWR?
Installation instructions:
1.Download ROM Manager from the Market.
2.Flash Recovery.
3.Choose Vibrant as your phone.
4.Accept the Superuser prompt.
5.On the very FIRST boot of Clockwork, you may need to manually select "reinstall packages" if Clockwork does not start. You should only ever have to do this once. It will be automatic from then on.
6.Watch the backup go!

You probably tried to partition the internal memory with clockwork mod. I also had that same issue before my replacement vibrant came. Now I flashed alot of roms and my recovery still looks normal. Im so relieved.

I did that every single step even the re install through
Regular recovery
But nothing
you opened rom manager, you selected to flash CWR, then you rebooted into recovery, then you reinstalled packages?
I've never heard anyone have an issue, just trying to make absolute certain you followed the steps before we try anything else.

Having same issue as OP
Can't get into clockmodwork green menu.
Currently running 2.2 update from kies any suggestion? I want to flash the phone with the new team whisky mod.
I followed the steps s15274n gave and when I try to re-install the packages I get..

Are you sure ur phone is rooted. Clockwork recovery wont work until its rooted. For some strange reason everytime I go back to stock to flash a new rom I have to do a full sd wipe. Even when the update.zip file is there for root there's something that on the card that wont let me root until after I completely wipe the sd card.

These steps also do not work for me. When running "reinstall package" it will see the new update.zip file but does not load it. It skips it and just boots back into the standard blue recovery mode. I have flashed and re-flashed about a hundred time. I even tried older flashes of clockwork.
I installed 2.2 through Samsung Kies.
Running KA6
I rooted with Superoneclick

Bingo. You need to be running either 2e, or a modded 3e. Cwm is useless without one of those.

I go to the samsung recovery and select apply sdcard:update.zip and it says "signature verification failed, installation aborted". Ive tried re-flashing it using Odin and it says PASS but still no result. Ive also tried flashing a different CWM from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=942021 but i am unable to download from the link provided. Can somebody please help me? Thanks in advance!

So i downloaded a simple stock rom (monster 2.3.2) onto my sd card and tried to install that rom, but whenever i try to do that, the download gets about halfway done and then stops and says

The download? Why not just download it to your pc and transfer it to your device?

sorry for the incorrect terminology, but i used a friends phone, downloaded a stock rom onto the sd card via his phone ( because mine will not boot up at all), put the sd card with the rom into my phone, loaded recovery mode, and tried to install the downloaded rom onto my phone via recovery mode. But it gets about halfway thru the installation and says installation aborted, E signature verification...
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but if you don't have Eng HBoot, your ROM will have to be signed?
if i root my phone and the rooting was a failure can i use any application to fix it back? so ill just download that application from my pc and transfer it to my phone as you said? where will i put that application? into what location of my phone?..
Try again!!!

You need to be on custom recovery before flashing custom roms. Try flashing ClockWOrkMod recovery for droid 2 and select install zip from sdacard option and choose zip from sdcard option and select your rom there and wait till it finishes...
Try google search for more info ....

Wrong (for most devices). Most devices with a locked bootloader only deal with S-ON/S-OFF. Once you have S-OFF, then you won't need a signed rom. And even if you have the ENG HBOOT (on the devices which require it), you would still need S-OFF for the process to work.
Evening,
Before I get bashed for starting this thread, I have searched the forum and Google but I have not yet found an answer. Also I would post this in the developers forum but I don't have rights to do that yet (post count too low).
Anyway I have been trying to flash my Galaxy Ace with clockworkmod 4.0.0.9 and I cant get it to work, I bought ROM Manager premium to try as well to no avil. When attempting to use the .ZIP file in the recovery mode I get the following:
-- Appling Muti-CSC--
-- Install /sdcard ...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /tmp/sideload/package.zip

I am using ClockWorkModAce.zip downloaded from this website, I have tried to download the file again in case and that made no difference. Tried using ROM manager to apply it and that failed too. Tried it when phone was rooted and also when not rooted (after fresh Odin flash)
Using S5830XXKPH
Please help, I want to try some of these cyanogen ROMs that I have seen posted on here. Many thanks in advance for any help

and update from sdcard and select cwm file you put insdcard and install
now reboot.
Now when again you go in recovery mod you found it
and remember never install rom manager it cause brick many ace
Thank you for your reply, however I still get the same message appearing when I try to install CWM... Not being able to find anyone else reporting this problem on the internet I am baffled. hmmmm
Wish I didn't bother paying out for the premium rom manager now, didn't realise it could brick my phone.

What msg come when you trying to install cwm ?
Rebooting the phone and holding power & home button,
Selecting update from .zip,
Then choosing the CWM file, I then get this appear:

Opening update package...

Dude if not able to install cwm then how about to install rom like coderom 2x or fla.sh1 or any that kind of odin flashable rom. So you can flash it through odin and it have cwm preinstalled so you can then install cynogen mod
and you tried cwm from link i gave?
Or flash first kpb then cwm
Thanks for your help I will go off and explore more into one of the ones that I can flash through Odin. Is there one that you would recommend to assist me on my way to cyanogen mod?
Yeah tried the CWM in your link, do I stand a better chance for using CWM if I flash kpb first?
Thanks given for your assistance

Cwm not installed may cause you done some thing wrong with kph
so.flash first new firmware whether kpb ,ddkq5 or any other
so you can able to install cwm
I will give your advice a go and post back with the results, you sir are a gentleman... thank you
well I managed to flash with Coderom.v2x with Odin, have tried with a couple of different cyanogen ROMs but neither worked. Still got the same errors as above.
I cant be that unlucky that anything I try doesnt work... I must be doing something wrong but I dont know what!!
Well I certainly don't understand how you are flashing from a directory "sideload package". I forgot about the stock recovery menu, is there a choose zip to install function?
I get exactly the same error, but not when I flash my phone, but when I try to root it.
I flashed it with no problem (S5830LUBKP7), but when I try to root it with either up_1.zip or AceGingerRoot.zip, I get the error
