Hello, I am trying to update to Froyo via Kies and of course I am having problems. Shock. I am having a MTP error when I try to connect my phone to my computer. I tried searching for answers first but all the posts were old ones or about Kies not Kies Mini. I don't have a second launcher running, it is stock, I tried to remove the cache files. I even tried the 16 character thing but there seems to be too many files exceeding that rule and I don't want to delete all of them. All I friggin want is Froyo installed.
Thanks in advance!
first I would flash back to stock using odin and try again. I was running nero v5 before.
Just from my personal experience, tmobiles 2.2 sucks I had it on for 5 min below I knew I hated it . The roms here are 10^pi times better

Hey I found a wonderful .tar file that will help anyone trying to get to EB01. You can go from any version with root and CWM included. Hope this helps.

I'm just the messenger. I did nothing for this except find it. Didn't see this around here....hopefully I don't get scolded.
This seems fairly solid. I'm already up to the newest version of SuperClean (or else I would use this), but I'm thinking I'll use this to get my friend's SGS up to speed. Can't believe This guy's got an Odin file for 3 different EB01 builds. That's pretty awesome.
I've been rocking his stock deodexed Odin for a couple of days now. Great, easy package.
Of course I would see this after going back to DL09 then back up to EB01 the "long way" and setting everything back up. lol Thanks for the link. Should save me a lot of time in the future.
I went for the stock version for my first try with eb01, but might try the others soon. I also was surprised there was no mention of this odin option anywhere here.
I'm thinking of going with the deodexed version but if I do that, does that mean all my apps have to be deodexed in order to install them? I'm absolutely ignorant about it.
This is a good way to fix the DBData issue that a lot of us are experiencing.
I just got a warranty replacement today so finding this made everything so easy, thank you so much

Worked great. Very easy way to install froyo.
Yea I agree it's so simple. Hopefully more people wanting froyo see this. Go thank this dude!
Yeah this was great. No need to transfer the rom to the sd card and use cwm. Very streamlined and the deodexed rom runs fantastic (just had to remove a few extra items, like DRM stuff)
i keep getting an error 0 transfer failed or something like that any ideas?
<osm> all threads completed. ( succeed 0/ failed 0)
is the error i get
Thanks for this life saver!
Rav try re-downloading it...it's possible your file is. corrupt.
i did that still same error, only thing i can think of is i was using a different cable than what came with the phone, going to try it again with the factor cable.
Trying to download via my phone. Are the links dead? Also I'm thinking it would be easy to replace sc 2.1 with 2.4 and future versions in the package?

I ran the deodexed version and then restored from titanium backup. Every thing went very smoothly. But I was getting a lot of force closes until I cleared the cache.
I also got rid of the Included swype and installed the swype beta which works much better.
The all in one package is about as ready as it gets.

My wife has a stock unrooted Vibrant running 2.1, and recently she's started having speed issues and the Youtube app has stopped working, so she's asked me to fix it. I was thinking I'd just root and flash her phone with a 2.2 ROM so she could get some tweaks, rather than just update to stock 2.2. I just had a few questions on the flashing process.
1) When I flash a ROM, do I have to go into CWM and wipe data, cache, and Dalvik, or can I just flash over a stock 2.1 install?
2) Whenever I want to flash a new ROM, do I have to return to stock 2.1, and then re-root?
3) Does returning to stock 2.1 delete the phone's user data?
4) Does flashing a new ROM delete user data?
5) Would updating to stock unrooted 2.2 using the Samsung tool delete the user data?
Also, does anyone have any suggestions on a ROM to flash? I'd probably go to a 2.2 ROM, and I was looking at Trigger 3.2, but I'm open to suggestions.
1) Always do all 3 + fix permissions total of 4 options in CmRecovery
2) Flashing FROYO ROMs is easy and can be done with out the need to ODIN. Its just when flashing 2.3 GB ROMs initially that will require ODIN.
3) Wiping of SD cards is known to have different results, for different users, in different situations, at different times, during different moon phases. LOL. jkjk, but to be honest ALWAYS make a backup! Move the backup from the phone to ur PC or else.
4) Same answer as 3
5) Not sure
6) Its gawd awful hott here!!!
7) Good luck!
Thanks for the quick reply
Also, I agree with 6). I burned myself getting into my car yesterday. Stupid Texas weather....
The AC went out at my werk yesterday, ugh. Back up now but still sittin at 79* even tho I got the thermostat down to 65*
*Tip*
My sisters Vibrant started to crap out last week and I almost shot myself trying to find a ROM with her that she'd like. Eventually I gave up and we went with @Whitehawkx stock 2.2. BOOM! EPIC win/win
It looks like Bionix has a 2.2 ROM that removes the Touchwiz Launcher. My wife currently uses ADW anyways, so that might help speed up her phone a bit and free up some memory for her apps.
Hello, all!
I've purchased a vibrant for my wife over the weekend (i'm on sensation), and have several questions.
The guy i bought it from did a hard-reset supposedly, and said that it reverted it back to the stock android build. Seemed weird, but the first thing i did was update it via kies mini to the froyo build. It's been working fine, except for the camera started messing up last night. Going into black screens, showing "camera failed" errors. It also takes some time (2-3 secs of black screen) to process a picture after it has been taken. I don't remember it doing that on the stock build. I did update it to the latest firmware.
Should i root the phone and flash a different rom? (which rom would you recommend?) A short google search revealed a lot of people having slow-downs after the froyo update.
Appreciate your help!
just to follow-up. wife's been having problems with the music player app hanging, then the phone shut down while she was installing something.... i'm going to wipe everything first to see if it helps any, but will end up rooting it and flashing something else, most likely.
Before rooting make sure you odin back to stock 2.1. That should het rid of the problems

Definitely do what the above poster suggested. Go to the development section and get the AIO toolbox. It has everything you need to get back to stock and get you rooted. If your looking for a good stable rom I'd recommend bi-winning v3. Good luck.
thank you, guys! ended up using the aio toolbox, like suggested. smooth sailing
i've put ultimate rom on it for now, see how she likes it. i'll check the bi-winning (lol) one also. anything else that you'd recommend for now? thank you!
WORD OF IMPORTANT CAUTION!!!!
DON'T EVER USE KIES AGAIN OR YOU WILL BRICK THE PHONE!!! THIS IS A GIVEN, YOU JUST GOT LUCKY, BUT ITS LIKE PLAYING RUSSIAN ROULETTE!! And when it corrupts the Primary and Secondary Boot loader files you'll be bricked hard for sure!!!
KIES IS NOTORIOUS FOR BRICKING VIBRANTS, IT DID IT TO MY PHONE AND MANY OTHERS HERE!! I WAS NOT AWARE OF THIS UNTIL IT WAS TOO LATE FOR ME!!
Odin or Heimdal are the only programs I would use to do restores other than Baywolfs AIO which is very friendly and has the JFD Rom in it and the Mapping Pit file known as the 512.
You could also use Eugenes No brick Froyo using Odin which has the 2E update file in it, so when you root it and Flash CW recovery, and then re-install packages it will give you the 2E green recovery menu you'll need to successfully flash other ROMS in the future you want.

Wow, didn't know this. Will delete kies asap. btw, this rom that i've flashed has a custom kernel (bionix? + voodoo). i did a backup of the stock rom via recovery. do i need to flash the stock kernel first before rolling back to stock?

Project-V is a Great 2.2 ROM, I made a few themes for it too: Blar and WP7 Style
Hi im new in this flashing ROMS stuff
i knew all abouth iphones, but in android world im clue less XD
so i resently got a vibrant and it was stock
so my friend showd me how to flash it
and i flashed ICS passion V8 on it
i like it but my battery life its like 5 hour
and all the apps keep crashing.
so i tried to flash bionix on it and it aborted the instalation, and said something about update files missing, then i tried to flash simply hunny on it, and it flashed and it instals but when i apply it and it starts to boot up
it get stuck in a really weird screen, its like all distortioned.
eany help on this?
The easiest way to leave ICS would be to use Odin and go back to stock and then flash the rom you would like. There is a stick called the Vibrant Bible that will provide the detaiols of odin if you have not used it before. Odin would been needed since the file formats for ICS is different from Bionix and SH and this is the easiest way to fix that. Also if you do go to SH after Odin, make sure you flash the gingerbread boot loaders or you will get the rainbow effects in the startup and rom.
Hope that helps.
Also, running passion should not have that bad of a battery life. Did you calibrate the battery and see if anything is keeping the phone awake? I'm using Passion V8 and easily have double your battery life. Install cpuspy and see if the phone is going into a deep sleep. If not many people have issues with the media server keeping the phone awake which may be the problem in your case as well. Otherwise, Passion should be running fine.
You can just download the AIO toolbox. It has Odin, Sammy drivers and stock pit/tar files too.
Ill chek that out thanks a lot for the help

If it's force closures, you can try going into the advanced menu in recovery and fix permissions after you flash the new rom.
First things first - please feel free to move to relevant forum (but please PM me so I can find its new location if moved)
I'm a complete newbie and and installed some form of CynogenMod JellyBean from youtube videos and a friends advice however I've been having issues and want to revert back to the way I got the handset as its becoming really frustrating with some of the issues Ive been getting:
Video's Freezing
Keyboard disappearing
Phone Crashing
Phone Heating Up
Not doing the auto call thing when I stick to my ear etc
Plus loads more
I dont have a memory card in my handset so when I was flashing stuff I was saving to files within phones internal memory. Anyhow I'd really like an idiots step by step guide on how to get my phone back to normality (even if it does have all the preloaded stuff on it) as I dont think the version of JellyBean Ive put on is any better than what I had (apart from phone reacting faster to touching screen)
A few points Id also like to know about is do I need to back anything up ? How would I do this if I do, Ive tried to get the stock ROM from Samsung however their site isnt working and therefor seem stuck with what I have done.
If anyone can recommend the best version of jellybean without all the issues or advise just to return to stock then Im happy aslong as my phone doesnt do all of the above
Thanks In Advance.
P.S.- I believe I done something with Odin also if that makes any difference.
PLEASE HELP !!!!
Download a stock or beta jb rom from Sammobile.com. flash with Odin. That's all you need to do. Custom roms are not going to do everything a stock one does AND the jb Rom currently available is a beta. The link below has all you need. Just read
