[Q] TMOBILE HTC HD2.....what do i do to get W7 running??? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a HTC HD2 with Tmobile, it is a Leo. I would like the WP7 on my phone but not sure how to get it going. I have downloaded the DFT_LEO70_release.rar, unzipped went through the motions of putting the phone in bootloader mode and running the MAGLDR 1.12 utility. After a period the program stops with an error reading. Anyone got the step by step order to complete the switch? I noticed the phone doesn't connect to activesync but still not sure my error.

Make sure you have HSPL3 on it. Run that first just in case, choose 2.08HSPL. Then after that run MAGLDR again. then once MAGLDR is in there, choose usb flasher then run the LEO70 utility

I believe you're in the wrong thread. You should be looking in Windows Phone 7 section of HD2.

You are awesome!! I got it running!! Thanks for your help! Now, how do I fix the other little things such as Marketplace and such? Any ideas?

The best hint was given already in post #3... check the HD2-WP7-thread here...

I'm still a newby, so excuse, if I am wrong to ask right here, but as an owner of an HTC HD2 512 (SPL 2.08 with magldr), formerly installed Miui roms, I now want to install WP7. The respective rom and installation routine is mentioned and offered in many places, but when I want to download the LEO70_RELEASE.rar the page is always dead. Please help me or further my issue to the right place, or advise me how to do it myself, that would be very nice. Thanks in advance,

Availability LEO70_RELEASE.rar
May I pose you a question, whether or not I am in the right thread or you are right to be contacted, but I have the same intention as mentioned before, getting WP7 on my Leo. The trouble starts right away by not being able to find the respective downloadable rar at all. All searches end in dead pages or links. What might that mean? And where might I get it?
Once again please excuse, when I'm wrong here, but I'm not experienced in using forum structures …
Thank you so much for answering or helping me, anyone who reads or is forwarded this, if it's others, too …

Sim Free Tytn Upgrade To Wm6 Help Please

Hi, Let me honestly admit that I am a newby and have read the threads over the last few weeks so much that I'm really confused now. I read one thing which then asks you to click and read another, but the answers I want are only partly found.
So I hope someone can please take pity on me and answer the following:
I have a TyTN SIM FREE phone which has a Orange sim card. In fact, Virgin & o2 cards have been used on it but Orange seems the best at the mo'.
Does that mean its unlocked?
I am trying to upgrade to WM6 (without even thinking about WM6.1), but "Error 260" comes up each and every time. I have tried 150+ and its still the same.
Please believe me that I have tried every way mentioned on these forums. I've tried on a xp (I have Vista) and its still the same.
My phone screen just goes black when trying to install, then the error comes up.
What exactly is "OPEN PORT" ? I cannot find a thread that actually EXPLAINS that. What do I have to do when it says:"Reset your computer"? Which one, the desktop or the TyTN? If the latter, I have reset so many times. If the desktop, what do I have to reset?
My TyTN tells me that its a HERM 200 IPL- 1.00 and HERM 200-2.03.
If someone can just list in a order what I have to do in order to get this upgrade I would be for ever grateful. HTC do not want to know & London HTC Support Hotline was a washout.
I do hope to hear soon, cos' its started to drive me mad now.
reset both, try unplugging usb cable and plugging into another usb port if prob persists...
1). download and install Hard SPL ver 7. Here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296722
This makes it easier or possible to unbrick your phone if something does(will) go wrong. THIS IS A MUST!!!!!!!
2). Once you have Hard SPL on your phone, you can either use the pc to flash OR the sd card method. I personally prefer the sd method as its harder to brick your phone. To do this, download the HERMES rom of your choice. Unzip(rar) the file and generally there are 2 files. RUU_Wrapper.exe & RUU_signed.nbh. Copy the RUU_signed.nbh onto a fat 32 formatted memory card and rename it to "HERMIMG.NBH". Put it back in the hermes and go to bootloader( hold power and OK button(above the flywheel) and then reset with the stylus. hold ALL the buttons down until it goes into tricolour screen. It should automatically detect the flash file and start the upgrade process, follow the prompts... Please remember to either delete or change the name of the .nbh file else it will upgrade next time you go into bootloader.
Hope this helps... Cheers...
Hi. Thank you for your reply and at the mo' I'm trying to get the Hard SPL7 file on my pocket pc. I've never come across something which sounds easy but being very difficult! The file is on my phone, but "will not unzip 'cos .net compact framework is not on my pocket pc" when I am staring at it in the face in my downloads.
What I've decided to do is to do a hard reset and start afresh. I'll let you know how I get on....
download it to your computer, not the phone
pls see the guides here: www.mrvanx.org
Sorry not been able to try anything yet due to illness. Going to try tomorrow & I hope it works. Not tried for a while and already dreading it.
I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks for your replies.
Hi everyone. Just letting you know a friend of mine upgraded my pocket pc. He said it was "hard work" but he did it!
The phone works great and is much faster, but now I have another problem. It will not sync with WMDC.
It is possible a new thread will be following soon. I am at present, following other people's advice.
Thanks for everyone's help.

Letting us know what ROM you had flashed with would help. As the different ROMs have different solutions in solving that WMDC problem.

MODS, Please close this useless thread!

No Radio - No GSM. Any ideas?

A friend of mine complained to me he could't phone with his hermes, which he had gotten from someone he knew..
It didn't take me long to find out that Hard SPL was installed and the radio was damaged - no GSM.
Eventually I managed to update to HSPL v7, but I still can't flash a radio.
I tried downgrading to MFG, flashing an original ROM (WM5 & 6), using the SD-card, using the pc (with a Windows Server 03 OS), tried 5 different Radio ROMS, and so on. The only thing I haven't tried yet was the Hermesloader for Linux - mainly because I don't use linux and wouldn't know what to do (although I might have a Suse live cd somewhere).
Anyways, point is, when I update from PC it loses the connection before it starts updating and when I use the SD card it stops at 11%
Any ideas? Please don't tell me to read the forum or the wikis, because I've read anything I could find and I know a fair amount of what I'm doing, after having owned 4 HTC phones. Unless I've missed something (which is what this post is for) I've tried just about everything, but I don't want to give up on it unless I know I've tried everything I can.
Oh and I can boot into the OS btw, so it's just the radio. Bad blocks maybe? Anyway I can defragment or format them or so??
All help greatly appreciated. thx

See the thread called "SBF/root/deodex 2.1.1 SBF" or something along those lines (in this forum). In order to get greyblur/GingerBlur working on a bell phone you have to flash an international SBF file. Right now the most current is 2.1.1, a generic SBF (leaked from France). Just be warned that flashing this will void your warranty. However, it hasn't caused any issues itself and wont CAUSE anything on your device to fail at all, if you get into trouble its most likely just bad luck with hardware and if you REALLY need to return your phone there is a general way to make it seem like you've gone back to stock, that you can do with the help of forum members here if needed.
Not trying to scare you off, I've done this myself. I'm just making sure you understand the risks. Hope this post helps you understand what you're getting into and where to go for further info.
Also, this should be in Q&A section, not dev.

not scared at all! thanks for the PERFECT response!
Moved to proper forum.
ok, i'm going through the steps but for some reason the x64 drivers won't install (yes i have 64-bit windows.). says this:
"The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation."
i assumed they weren't required.
nothing happens when i run rds before plugging in phone. when i reboot the phone, i see the rds protocol message, i run rds on my pc, plug in the phone and nothing happens....
thoughts?
I know nothing about windows sorry bruvva
I do know that once you are running a p rom pretty much everything becomes compatible

well the drivers do need to be installed, you can find the necessary drivers in an executable package here although i can't tell you whether admin restrictions will block that too. might be easiest to find a PC where you can do stuff as an admin depending on your current system's configs.
once drivers are installed your PC will recognize device when in RSD mode.
I would assume that the login on your comp is not set as an administrator. You have to be logged on as an administrator to modify system files or drivers in windows.
You could also try right clicking the usb driver installation exe and choose "run as administrator".

Hey
Regarding the Win 64 driver, I had the same issue, until I realised the link given in the thread about 2.1.1/Greyblur for the driver lead to a corrupted file (~ 500 kb) even using a download manager. I downloaded them from elsewhere (Motorola Website) and the error message disappeared without having anything else to do.
Hope that helps!
Guillaume
Actually got the whole thing going a while back... sorry for not checking back!
I am officially enamoured by this phone......... the start of a beautiful and complex relationship ...
And yeah, I suspected that it had something to do with corrupt file... tried a few diff sites but all seemed the same... eventually tried a diff usb port and it worked...

[Q] Windows 7 will not pick up SGSII in USB Debugging Mode (Will not root as well)

I just bought my new Galaxy SII for a penny. Great deal, and spectacular phone. Happens to be my first android phone as well (been waiting for one for years). The only problem i am having is when I put the phone in USB debugging the computer won't pick it up in explorer. If I enable USB mode I can copy files, but I cannot root (Trying the Xperia X10 Easy Rooting Toolkit, spits out crap about "cannot find the path specified", no matter what I do). Kies also seems to not work with the phone... I have tried both my Self Built Windows 7 HP 64 Bit Desktop and Windows 7 HP 32 Bit netbook and both have the same problem. Windows Devices and Printers reads the device but says that the driver has not been installed, when in fact it has...
Any and all help to resolve this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Haha thanks, got it working. Rooted and everything, sorta excited-kid in a candy store .
OK. So if you couldn't tell, I'm a complete newb with android, wanted it for forever, but circumstances didn't allow me to until now, and now I feel a little over my head. Sooo:
1.) Could you (or someone) maybe post links to some threads or sites that would be good to ease me into the world of android?
2.) With my Samsung Galaxy SII, if I am installing ROM's and taking them off, and installing new ones, what are the chances of bricking my device?
3.) Since I rooted it, I went over to CyanogenMod and downloaded the ZIP to the latest stable ROM. I then dropped it into my SD card, and went into a app I downloaded called ROM Manager. When I went to install from SD card, and it rebooted, it gave me an error and popped back out, seemed like I did it wrong. So how do I install ROM's (CM7 in particular).
4.) How would I go about removing that ROM after its been installed and im tired of it ?
I hate feeling like a newb, and would be very thankful for any help people would be willing to give to get me started!
Ok, two more questions .
1.) Is there a good app to backup my current apps before doing a wipe(I have a ton of them...)?
2.) I read that ROM's cannot include google apps, so how would I get them on? Would I download the APK and then sideload them?
Thanks again!
The ROMs that I downloaded were all in ZIP folders and I couldn't figure out what I should link to odin as ZIP folders aren't compatable to flash . And then my phone wont reboot into recovery or download mode (can't remember which one I need to be in for Odin). I tried with debugging on and off and it just boots right back into android. This is very frustrating, as I know I must be doing something wrong...
Thanks for all your help

thats the method i used for rooting and it worked flawlessly and was quick and easy
Wow you need to slow before you do something stupid. Take the time to read and just as important, if not more important, take the time to search the internet for your questions.
Learning what steps needed to do something to your phone is not the goal. Learning what you are doing and why, should be the goal, and learning how to do each step is a sidepoint that you learn as a by-product.
Most important thing to learn why and how to check for is to make sure what you're flashing does not contain bootloaders. If you mess with bootloaders and the smallest thing goes wrong, you end up owning an extremely expensive paper weight, i.e. a brick.
In general flashing what the majority flash here on xda is safe. But that's not a guarantee as any garbage can be uploaded. So read the entire thread. Some are long. If you can't be bothered to read the longer ones, at the minimum use the search tool to look for particular words to your question. Search before you post. It will be evident by what you ask that you've spent the time researching, and will attract a higher level of help.
I'm not trying to be mean or come down on you. You're already starting to do what's right by asking when you're not sure.
A NOTE TO YOU AND EVERY NOOB ON XDA:
One of the biggest reasons people's questions receive no response for a day or more, is because their question could be easily solved by using the search tool in xda or one google search.
In the wise words of tom cruise, "Help me, help you. Help me, help you!"
And yeah, he can fly.

Yea. I goofed and I flashed an international ROM onto it. I was able to find a unrooted stack tar to flash. I plan to do a lot of reading before I do this again . If anyone has any ideas on where to start that would be great.
And no problem, I understand as I am a heavy user of tomshardware forums. It frustrates me when people ask for advice a two second search would pull up.
Again thanks everyone! XDA is awesome!

I know it's been a couple days since you asked, so hopefully you've already found what you're looking for, but I always recommend people read all of creepncrawly's write ups. They cover near every question and are up to date on everything.
