i'm just curious....you did try to put the phone in download mode right?
reinstall drivers ? with phone connected , enable debugin
settings-applications-development
Ok yes I put it into download mode and that didn't change anything and I would put it in debugging but the phone only boots up to download mode or cwm and that's it
did you reinstall drivers with phone connected ? also someone mentioned when windows boots hit F8 like you would go to safe mode but instead look for disable signature verification , go to windows and try reinstall

hey guys, please i need alotta help.
i have the samsung vibrant obviously.
this is what my current situation is. im stuck at the phone to computer screen, and the only thing i can do is get into download mode. but when i try to load the stock vibrant rom using odin, it just stops at dont turn off target! the phone does indeed connect to odin so that's not the problem, but when i click start to flash the stock rom, it just stops at dont turn off target! i cant figure out why it wont flash the rom, and i have no idea what to do, please help! :[
this what i did that caused this. i had the oneclicklagfix installed from ryan. i then uninstalled the lagfix because i wanted to flash the bionex 1.3 rom. it seemed like it was flashing all fine, and then it booted up to the phone to comp screen! :[ like i said, i can only get into DL mode, and then odin doesnt do anything. i tried deleting all user data, and cache data. please help me, i dont know what to do! thanks alot!
Make sure you have the drivers for you phone and have the latest version of odin. I know it took me at least 3 to 4 tries with the old version of odin 1.0. The new version 1.3 went through on the first try.

I can attest to this. V1.0 kept having issues for me, so I downloaded V1.3 and had no issues. If you install Samsung Kies it should install all the drivers you need on your computer to communicate with your phone. If you still can't get it flashed back to stock try flashing this ROM first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=740558 and than flashing the stock ROM.
Try using a different USB port. I had the same issue "stuck on do not turn off target" while odin was using com4. When odin switched from com4 to com5 it completed in about 5 minutes.
Hi everyone,
My Vibrant's USB has stopped working and I believe it is a hardware fault (I tried on different ports on different computers, and ensured that Samsung drivers are installed on the PC).
I am currently on Trigger 3.2 final and would like to get back to the vanilla stock KA6 unrooted (ROM, kernel, baseband, modem, recovery, everything) before sending it in to Samsung for repair. But unfortunately, I cannot restore to stock without ODIN which needs USB.
I don't have a Nandroid backup. Any ideas what are my options to restore to stock unrooted with stock recovery at this point?
Thanks so much!
How are you charging it?
The phone charges just fine, but is not recognized as a USB device by the PC ... Basically, it says that the connected device is corrupt.
Then you need to uninstall and remove all the Samsung drivers you installed on your pc, reboot, then re-install the drivers.
I have a second Vibrant that accesses USB just fine, so it is not a driver problem ...

could you put a stock rom on your external sd then push it to your internal then flash it?

Thats exactly what I was thinking. You could bluetooth files to the phone and then flash. You just can't ODIN unless you get the USB werkin. Good luck!
Success - I did a CWM install of Bionix R1 final to get to 2.1, flashed the JFD kernel and modem to get to JFD, and finally did the nandroid restore from the official JFD image thread here on XDA, and then unrooted the phone. Have sent the phone back to Tmobile for a replacement - and of course I forgot to remove the Zagg protector before mailing it in
How did you UNROOT the phone?
delete superuser.apk unroots phone.
You can download a rom via the rom manager and then try to go from there.
Also note, you could download a rom via the XDA app via the phones browser.
try to factor format by dialing this hidden phone number "*2767*3855#", note that this will work on a TM Vibrant rom, such as 2.2 or 2.1 only. I have used this to wipe the internals and it's like a great number to write down. That number will not work on a GB rom.

download that to your phone then flash it

Nevermind, I'm an idiot!
Arg... i have the same issue... though i cant find the JFD kernel and modem.
Bionix R1 - check
JFD kernel -?
JFD modem -?
Nandroid -?
Did you try USB after you did all of this?
Never Mind...
So i flashed the miui 2.3.7 rom, decided i didn't like it, so went to flash JVQ final rom and now it just boot loops on that platypus screen. I can get into cwm but everytime i try to flash a different rom that i already have on my phone, i get an error message saying something has been removed, i can't exactly remember. I can't get my computer to recognize the phone either, so i can't odin, when i hook it up to the computer in download mode, it says somethings wrong with the drivers. any ideas? I know ive got all the right vibrant drivers cause i hook my phone up to my pc every day...help please?
The vibrant drivers changes as soon as you flashed miui, if you did a nandroid backup restore from CWM. TO GET the phone working again. You will need to check the miui threads for the correct drivers.

Download Nexus One drivers.
This will get you going again.

uninstall and reinstall drivers...i would recommend install kies to get drivers...good luck
ok so basically your flashing a samsung rom from Miui broke your download mode.
this is really kinda easy to fix.
open CWM
Factory reset
Reflash Miui from your SD card
boot. shut down
open odin
now plug in phone and boot into download mode.
i've had this issue a few times back when the miui roms and cm7 weren't all shiny and zip aligned and if you didn't factory reset inbetween the whole damn thing would break.
Hey I have a i9100 that I had running on cm9 nightly. I updated my phone to the latest one at the time which was jul 22 and was 101.56 megs I believe. I went into cwm to install the firmware, wiped user data then installed the update. Install went fine, no errors in cwm. Although when I did wipe data I did not wipe cache with it.( I just wiped data accidentally because it was a force of habit since I flash alot)
Now the phone is in a boot loop. It won't go into recovery mode but will do download mode. Although when it is in download mode windows is saying that the device is malfunctioning. The setup I'm using is the same I've used to flash the phone atleast 30 times via oden so it should be working in theory.
Any ideas guys, I'm at the end of my rope as far as what to do.
Read this and see if that can help you

That's the First thing I read when I searched for a solution. But that relies on the computer seeing the phone, which mine doesnt. It's looking like jtag may be the route I have to go. Any have any experience with those services

No CM9 nightly is 101.56MB. They are usually around 130MB. You probably flashed a CM7 nightly. AS long as download mode is working, you can flash resurrection and then the correct nightly.... or odin back to stock, root... then flash the nightly, but make sure you have the correct version as the CM7 and CM9 nightlies appear in the same list and it's easy to grab the wrong one if you aren't careful.

Do you have the drivers installed? If so, and it's still not working, you might try a different USB port and/or cable combo to see if one of them could be wonky.

could it be that flashing cm7 on cm9 damaged the usb functionality. but the phone is still recognizing the jig that i have. the phone will go into download mode via button combo or jig. since the jig still works doesnt that mean that the usb port on the phone is still functional
HELP! Bricked Galaxy S2- GT-i9100
I have a galaxy s2 gt-i9100 and i love this phone but it's been bricked and i want to know if theres anything i can do. I was running cm10 no problem for awhile now even though one of my flashes took away my computers ability to see my phone when plugged in and i've tried everything. I thought mobile odin was what i was looking for to flash the official JB that came out. so i flashed it and then that was all she wrote for my phone. won't turn on at all i just see a greyed out battery on my screen.
i can get into download mode using button combos no problem but odin doesn't recognize just like computer.
I can get into recovery mode but it's not the same as when cm10 was on i think it's stock recovery from when i tried to flash with mobile odin and the options it shows me do not help me at all.
my question is: can i save my phone? or do i have to buy a new one?
P.S. It must be the phone cause i'm using a new computer and it can't see the phone either, i downloaded kies and when i plug in the phone it still goes through the process of finding and trying to DL the drivers but then it fails. same as my computer.
please and thank you

Interesting problem. I bought an i717 off Amazon that was already running a custom ROM. So everything should be easy from there right? No. I had to flash CWM and root it still. I got it rooted. CWM is "there", but it wouldn't flash anything at all. Not my Titanium zips, not the JB ROMs I want to try out, not the radios, etcetera. ODIN is being an even bigger d'bag. Almost every time, it is now failing after Setup Connections.
The few times Odin works, it flashes correctly and boots the OS as if everything is fine. If I reboot or try to get into recovery mode, it hangs/crashes after briefly showing "Samsung".
Recently I flashed the stock recovery and boot ROMs.
I have been trying to change the CWM install as the next step.
Any advice? What am I missing? How are these devices setup?
I imagine that the BIOS knows about 2 boot paths (bootloader and recovery ROM). The bootloader sets up and moves the program counter to the OS code ....and so on. Where is the link broken and why can't I directly get into recovery? Button combos haven't been working or I'm not doing it right.
Firstly:
WHY DOES ODIN SAY EPIC 4G?
Are you using the right phone or in the wrong forum?
The Odin issue is most likely due to one of the following failing:
driver/cable/usb port (on pc, or worse on phone)
Get yourself a different data cable, Uninstall drivers, reboot, reinstall drivers, swap usb ports on the pc using one attached to the motherboard no front ports or hubs, right click and run Odin as administrator.
Still fails rinse and repeat until all your pcs usb ports are tested.
I have found that the verizon data cable for the vcast from ecomoto work best the number on cable are skn5004a

I think "EPIC 4G" is the title listed in Odin's .ini file. That should have no effect on flashing.

In addition to studacris' excellent suggestions, what version of Odin are you running? Are you running the most recent version? v1.85 last I checked. What version of CWM did you flash?
