[Q] root access - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought a new pair of skull candy "premium" earbuds from the Tmobile store and whenever I go outside with them Slacker starts and stops and then finally the music player starts going at the same time (with some rude heavy metal). I saw that I need to disable this with autostarts but when I try I get a prompt that I don't have root access. Is this difficult to achieve? I'm not a software developer and I don't have a windows computer, only macs. Thanks for the help!

No, obtaining root is very easy.

There's directions, and the program you need called One Click Root. Basically, you connect your phone to your Mac, run the program, and wait for your phone to reboot.
Autostarts is indeed the program you're looking for to solve this problem
Good luck!

So what, you're just going to sit there and press buttons to change the value back and forth? Are you on cocaine?
.. I assume he's looking for a prototype/proof of concept on which to base a project he has in mind. That or cocaine.
There was a discussion on the G1 forums about using a G1 for servo control for remote control airplanes a long time ago. From what I understand, they got it completely working. You might be able to search for it and get some ideas. Other than that, I got nothing. Sorry
thanks
yes some people might say im insane!!!! but thanks loads for the info u got me on the right track.

[Q] How to use your device as a media center at home?

Hello all!
Before I ask my questions, I would like to say thank you to everyone on the forum. While I haven't posted anything before now, I have been a heavy user of XDA and have learned more than I had ever anticipated. To list all those I have followed or have provided me with some great information would take weeks so please accept my general thanks to everyone!
Now, I have searched high and low on this forum for a solution to my situation and have failed miserablly. If anyone can provide me a solution, link or point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it!
I am currently using 2 devices and about to add a 3rd. My main phone is a Samsung Captivate which has been rooted. I'm running CM7 w/ the GLITCH Kernal and too many mods to list. My second device is the Samsung Infuse which is completely stock. My next device is the HTC Vivid which I have no clue what will be done to it.....
What I would like to do is use my phone as a media hub. I would like to be able to walk in to my house, plug my phone in to my TV via HDMI and then pick up a tablet or my computer and be able to control the media on my device over my secure wifi connection.
I know I could plug my laptop into my TV and control my the media on my laptop via my phone but that has it's limitations as well.
So the scenario:
I walk in and connect my device to my TV. Grab my laptop/tablet and start my music or a movie and be able to respond to text messages.
I know I'm asking a lot but any assistance would be great!

MyMobiler is out for Android: http://mymobiler.com/. I'm not sure if you can get it installed and running without the screen on your phone, but it's worth a shot.
QtADB
It is something like QtADB
QtADB website <-- windows only i think
Thank you guys
I will try all of those, but before that accident with my phone i flashed android 4.0.3, so i hope that will work fine
and i hope when i connect my phone to pc, it will not ask for superuser privileges, because i wont be able to tap on enable and i will be screwed
but i have to wait for my friend, because i lost my usb cable in delirium
Thank you, will report later
I know that MyMobiler does need superuser privileges. The Yes button in SU is quite large though, so you can probably hit it from memory.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
AWESOME
mymobiler works, thanks!
I use the Android SDK's built-in DDMS myself, but it is mainly for screenshots, not as a display replacement option.

[Q] myRemote & W8

I know this is the wrong forum, but I have only just joined so cant ask in the correct forum..
I've got W8 running on my Tranquil PC which is hooked up to my TV, I was going to buy a wireless keyboard and mouse but found the "myRemote" app, it works a treat but it does not start until I log in and double click the short cut on the desktop. Which means I have to plug in my USB keyboard to log in etc instead of being able to sit my arse on the sofa whilst fiddling with my phone.
So.. How do I get the program to start during boot up, bearing in mind it needs the desktop to run properly!?!?!!
Thank you in advance, and sorry its in the wrong forum (my phone is a nice shiny HTC Desire X though..)

This should be in the off topic section of the xda forum. (my favorite section of the forum! )
Anyways, in your myremote app on the pc find a menu to start on boot or something. Or you can use a startup editor cuz win8 has no start menu to put it in start>all programs>startup. There should be a option in the myremote app on the pc to start as a system process. If not, use teamviewer.

[Q] I Just Want To Root My Z2

Dear all,
I know this forum has "developer" in the title and all and am relatively tech-savvy, but long story short I am neither technically inclined nor remotely interested in overtly technical affairs related to my mobile phone.
A couple months ago I switched from iPhone, been happily using Kit Kat. The occasional update is pushed and I just install it because otherwise it keeps sitting in my notifications. Overall I was very happy. Yesterday an update came along, and it turned my phone upside down. This thing is called Lollipop, I have discovered. I cannot undo this and I do not want to wipe my phone, so I've tried playing nice with this thing but as it stands I cannot tolerate some of the new features.
1. Close All in app switcher is gone.
2. Menu bar and lots of other bars are in bright blue or other bright shades.
3. No widgets on lock screen.
4. Currently playing media image always shown on lock screen.
These annoy me to no end. So I would like to root my phone to fix these. Just. Want. Simple. Root.
Half an hour of searching and there is no simple guide to do this. Some say you need to wipe your phone, others say you need to put it in an ADB or something and you need a baseband or a kernel or TWRP. On an iPhone you just turn on Airplane Mode, hit a button and it's done. On Android it all looks like like an in-depth exercise in thermonuclear astrophysics.
Please, somebody, is there a simple way to root an Xperia Z2? I'm not interested in using my phone to take over the world or something. I don't wish to spend more than 10 minutes to get this over and done with. I have PCs and Macs, whichever guide is the easiest just throw it my way. Thank you.
Flash 4.4.2
Root
Install recovery
Flash rooted 5.0 in recovery
Simple (and returned in search results). That your only option to possibly keep data.
Thank you for your reply Matt.
Please don't take this the wrong way, I appreciate your help but I truly am new to all this, so please pardon me if these questions sound elementary.
I have googled for terms such as "simple root", "z2 root", however most "few-click" root programs don't support Lollipop at the moment, which is a 5.0 something, I don't know.
When you say "flash 4.4.2", what exactly do you mean? Are we reinstalling Kit Kat? If so, doesn't that mean losing all data on the phone?
OK, first, download and install Flashtool from HERE , install the software and then go to drivers folder, or just copy and past this link in your Computer address bar C:\Flashtool\drivers\Flashtool-drivers.exe
check these boxes |Flashmode drivers|Fastboot drivers| Xperia Z2 device drivers and press next to install them, better restart your computer afterwards. After doing these steps reply to me and I'm gonna tell you what next
