I suggest Void.
- very stable
- very customizable without any next downloading or flashing, just make folders (or use plugin for file conf)
- battery friendly
- very responsive (hw acc, kernel)
- new version with last mike_os's kernel (100% CPU usage on tuch bug resolve)
- included whole important features
Disadvantages
- it's really big package and it takes some space on SDcard
- framework-res.apk is not compatible with UOT Kitchen (round battery and others visualizations)
- Also recommended Metamorph theme doesn't work too much well. About 90% of tested theme doesn't work, same as manual edits.
If I want to go for performance,do you think megatron suits me? Because Void is a little bit complicated.
simply MEGATRON!!
it gets you the best outta ur handheld and yes void is compliacted!! had flashed but reveted back to megatron!!

Yes, simplest and highest performance together you can reach by Megatron. Anyway you will have to flash than also mike_os kernel to solve touch bug.
About void, I can't say that it is difficult. Creating of folder is not hard, same as installation itself. It just take little time to read and decide which tool you want to enable.
There is no best ROM. If you want something, you have to give up something to get that something. In other words, try ROMs, and stick to the one that suites you best. For me, its all about preference. I had this question too when I was looking for a Linux distribution that I'd REALLY keep, since I used to distro hop a lot

Hey guys. I am kinda overwhelmed by the number of ROMs and kernals around. I saw modems too but dunno what they are. Heres my info:
Baseband:I9100DDKE4
Kernal: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKF3-CL276555 [email protected] #2
Hope thats alls needed. I wanna try our MIUI. But I saw stuff like bluetooth isnt working there. I dont wanna lose any functionality. Is CyanogenMod my best bet? Are there any other good stable mods I should check out? And whats a good Kernal? Which wont affect battery performance.
Thanks for your time if you reply.

1. Modems are the drivers for the mobile connections if you flash a newer one it can improve your network speed but it really depends were you live etc so it different for every person.
2. If you're a beginner with flashing I wouldn't start with any AOSP ROMs like Cyanogen or MIUI.
3. I would recommend Villain ROM for the beginning. It's clean and basic and it comes with Nimphetamine Kernel. Also the guys there are really nice and like to help if you have some problems.
Hello there OP!
If you want a completely different Android experience, go for the CyanogenMod 7.1 release candidate. Bluetooth and other important stuffs are working, read the thread!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1297557
If you want a very stable ROM with bloatware removed, I recommend you Cognition 1.5.1. The developer only uses official firmware releases, not leaks.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1124396
Though before you do all these you do need to have your phone rooted first!

i know mate i been there so i know how it feels wanting to ask these questions...but you have some ideas from myself and other people as well so do your reading and choose the one you want..to be honest if i was you id flash a few before deciding which one to stay with..each thread of the roms that i have used everyone is friendly and everyone is helpful so you should be fine...anything you ever need hit me a message and i see if i can help ya
Thanks you everyone. I was just being lazy. Chose Lite'ning Rom and SiyahKernal2.0. Both should play well right? Will I need to recong. all apps?
Loads of roms available but I'd recommend a rom based of 2.3.5 improvements are better than earlier releases.
Then you can choose from the various kernels and modems to customise.
Once you get the hang of flashing and such you can try out others like cm7, which itself works pretty good now and offers a complete aosp experience.
Touchwiz roms are polished though and work very well. By going to CM7 and such you will lose some stock functionalities such as the good camera app, better stock email, and other bits and bobs.

i think LeoMar75 Revolution Rom v2.7.1 and SpeedMod t41 kernel is the best choice.
battery friendly and really fast!!
no lag in SPB Shell 3D launcher and other apps. also revolution rom is really customised!
(my english is not good as i come from Hong Kong)
GingerMod 0.6. Based on 2.3.5.
Fast. Using Siyah kernel with it. Amazing battery life, amazing benchmark scores.
I got my Galaxy ace a half year ago .. and I tested nearly every rom / mod & theme .
but I am quite searching for a rom that has the best performance, the best speed and it should be very stable - without lags. It don't need to be themed - it can look like a stock rom.
Thx for your help xda-team ♥
Choose stock....like me, i know there will be more comment after me saying custom is better (of coz, they made it)
But until now no custom rom is stable...
I use stock wxks6 then convert to ext4, plus...cf-root kernel and lagfreeV2 script....all working well.
Owh, and now using miui launcher...cool

oh nice thank you for now . . . i will check that out
After having tried many.
The Rom custom of the TheMyth (devilsking) are the best.
always the same functionality as stock.
ICS Final hands down. After flashing some other roms and looking around, this rom is by far the most stable and fastest I've tried. Never had any problems with the rom and I've been using it ever since the Final version came out. The only problems I've had are with random apps and such, never with the rom itself. Got a champion right there ;D
Highly recommend it.

can you give me the download link for ICS FINAL ROM ? because thread get closed
What's the best ROM available atm? I've just bought the phone and I'm looking to flash something nice onto it
By 'best' I mean stable, best battery life and as clean as possible with no bloatware.
Could you please provide a tutorial on how to do it as well?
All help appreciated and thanks in advance!
See the dev section, and you have sticky thread that will help for all things related to flashing etc....
And for the best rom, I don't test anyone so can't say but I think you'll have to test them before find the best for you.

put on .73, root it, the fastest way for me is this:
- flash stock .73 (the one for your zone is right)
- unlock bootloaders
- flash doomkernel (autorootting kernel)
- boot and check root.
- flash stock kernel (unzip .ftf and flash kernel.elf)
once you have a yourcountryrootted .73 you can
- remove all the bloatware you don't need
- replace systemUi and Framework to get the very usefull toogle bar that i missed much from my old Samsung SGS1
- if you want replace semccamera
here you got your PERSONAL rom. as i got mine !
(this way to root is my personal way, that's becouse you can't make a prerooted img of .73 italian as you can't mount it as loopback partition... btw is better than the prerooted roms, just becouse you don't need to download megs and megs...)
Just as note... i don't blame doomkernel about anything... just i prefer to have the stock kernel becouse i use my phone also for business purposes and i need 100% sure stability, and i didn't got time to test doomkernel...
try XPeriaSspeed w/ doomkernel 9006
im super satisfied w/ it nice batt life quite fast as well.

What up guys, just wanted to bring this thread up to make the same question but specifically related to jb Roms which one do you prefer, qhich is best in terms of stability, battery life, smoothness and which one is less bugish. Please help me out, i'm really hesitant in deciding wich rom
Hy all,
I just got my Mini.
Can you give me some tipps, which kernel and ROM would be the best for everyday using and for gaming?
Also, other tips are welcome too
thx in advice.
Don't change anything, even don't update your phone until ICS comes; I promise you that's the best way playing games and etc.
update, root your phone install cwm recovery, remove bloatware. if you notice problem with back and manu keys just fix it(there is a solution on this forum).
maybe is better to wait day or two for ics release, and then pimp your phone.

I can tell you that the ICS will not be highly recommended for gaming because their OS is a bit heavier than GB. So I think you like games and wants to apply a custom ROM. This is because at risk but you can search for Rage Kernel or X Kernel for V17 Hybrom told me that it is brutal for Games. I tried to install on my LWW but could not. IF you are modifying your ROM PLEASE MAKE A FULL BACKUP WITH CWM. NOT TO CRY AFTER A BAD SET KERNEL
Ok thanks. I will use stock ROM untill a usable custom one is available
Hi guys,
sorry for cross-posting (http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-neo/help/xperia-pro-issue-mount-sd-ext-t2826503) but
my phone is becoming unstable because of very low free space/memory available
and did not receive answers.
Thank you very much!
Hi eXperts,
last month I flashed the great Ultimate HD rom, so stable and now my wonderful Xperia pro is much faster
Before to do that anyway I used Mount2SD app to get my external sd mounted and solve, in this way,
common issue about "memory unavailable" and similars when I tried to add or update an app.
Now , Mount2SD is no more working, with no log entries, even if detailed debug verbose is enabled; first
I was thinking there is issue with Init.d support... But it sounds strange because before UHD I used the original stock rom by sony,
rooted of course, and furthermore I checked with a tool (embedded inside universal Init.d) and it shows me that Init.d support
is green and working....
So, looking beyond, my question is how to definitively solve this issue, changing kernel or something else
and give my phone support to mounting external sd native. Which kernel may I flash ? Working together with UHD?
Fast?
My phone is mk16i and must keep physical keyboard working, cwm, rooted.
Will this operation break my current configuration in terms of installed apps and so on?
My Xperia pro is unlocked bootloader.
Thank you very much in advance!!

1. Try flashing stock GB/ICS
2. Try using a different sd card
That's basically all you can do. If you're doing everything right (flashing and wiping accordingly) and it still doesn't work, it's definitely a hardware problem. Then you'll need to pin point what is causing the problem. As I recall you said that your sd card works properly? Can you can copy/move stuff from and to it, view all the media you have on it without problems?

Hi Grof,
flashing stock GB/ICS does not help. I use stock kernel since the beginning... and no stock kernel
is able to mount sd-ext file system in order to use sd as a natural extension of internal memory.
As I wrote in the beginning I already reached out result I want, using Mount2Sd with stock kernel but now
I want to solve with a new full featured and modded kernel that embeds useful functionality just like CWM and
of course internal memory extension using sd-ext filesystem..
That's the point.
My sd card is perfect, nothing to complain and working like a charm! I "only" need the first part.
Regards
If I get what you are saying, you just want someone to recommend you a custom kernel that has sd-ext support? Have you tried the latest LX CM11 ROM and kernel? Almost all custom kernels support ext4, it's just a matter of preference.
Sorry if I missed your point, hope I haven't misunderstood you.

Great! That's the point :good:
Now, I did not try LX CM11 ROM because I did not know which was the best ROM and Kernel for my mk16i and so
reading different threads I decided to install Ultimate HD ROM.
That's a good ROM but I did not know which kernel associate because it was not indicated in its dedicated thread
and furthermore, mk16i is a really specific smartphone with physical keyboard so I did not want to loose some important feature.
I will try to look at LX CM11 ROM but are you able to suggest a good kernel for my current ROM ?
I am honest, if possible I would not want to install all apps from the beginning... but if the reward is sensible, well I will do!
Thanks

Asking for and suggesting best kernel/ROM is not allowed on xda.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1969555
You'll just have to test them out yourself. You should check UHD ROM thread to see which kernels are compatible with that ROM. All CM ROMs have kernels inside the zip (boot.img). Hope you'll find what you are looking for!

Hi, I know the rules.
I am asking if you can help me understand which ROM is ready for UHD cause, of course, I already read the post and found
different suggestions but regarding other models. That's the point, because Xperia Pro is a particular phone with physical keyboard for e.g.
and also looking at different kernels inside its dedicated thread I was not able to understand which kernel is already developed
and patched on ICS and there is features matrix.
Finally I need to know if, installing selected kernel, I will loose something or not
I am not interested and I am not asking "which is the best rom for my phone ?"
