So I went into my Verizon store this morning to do a waranty replacement for my Eris due to a dead spot in the upper right corner of the screen. Replacement will be here in 3 days. What are the odds I will be sent a different droid? This is my first time doing a warranty replacement.
getting a different droid phone is highly unlikely, a lot of Eris's have been turned in to verizons trade in program so you will most likely get a eris refurb.

just got an eris refurb yesterday. your chances of getting an eris are 100% unless you were told otherwise.
Eh yeah another Eris it was. 8 more months till upgrade time.
update: after 24 hours with this phone, it is more screwy than my 1st one!
another one is on the way but they placed it on my 2nd line which is my fiancee's eris. I call to tell them its for my line, and the guy says well when I get it send it back and they will send one for my line. So I got frustrated and the guy offered me a month free service and transferred me to tech support. The guy there says when the phone comes in I can still activate it on my line. Hope the 3rd one isn't so messed up.

Yeah, you can switch which phones are on what lines at will, or replace with phones not even acquired through Verizon. Sometimes you do have to at least activate it the first time on the line that it was originally intended, though, and then you can switch it on Verizon's site, in theory.
Hopefully it keeps working well for you.
The best thing to do with Verizon reps when they start screwing up is to get exponentially more irate than you really are. You'll usually get something for free

emailed verizon saturday and they called me back today. my line was eligible for the early upgrade, but they rep was nice enough to do both. he also said this was the last time I could do an early upgrade. So Wednesday I'll have the x and my fiancee will have the Inc. I hope the devs for these phones are as awesome as the ones for the eris!

I actually was having issues with my Eris, I went into a Verizon corp. store, they told me I'll have a free Inc the next day. 3 days later I got another Eris and an apology letter explaining that in order to get the early upgrade my Eris must fail 3 times in total.
This second Eris is acting really odd and I may have to take it back.

Yeah, that sounds really weird. You can definitely put any phone you want on any line, at least after initially activating it on the line it was "meant" for. I know I already commented to that effect, but, WTH.
Sorry to resurrect the thread, but I do have some more information. Or at least have had a similar situation. My fourth eris just fell victim to the trackball issue. Went to store and was offered the LG Vortex which is an android phone, but does not have an xda forum (is it bad that is a requirement for my phones now). They told me to call and see what other options were available. The rep on the phone agreed to get me a new incredible for $99. Would give me credit on my next bill for $120. However, it would use one of the two year upgrades on another line. Just wanted to report my results. Also this means I will still have my eris and my wife will have hers, but most of my time will probably be spent with the inc forums. Although, now I have gotten my wife in to flashing her phone and such so she will expect updates...lol.

Rooting the Inc was pretty easy, even though there's no 1 click app like for the eris or z4 root for example. There's a gingerbread rom but no where near where the gb roms for the Eris are.

I'm able to upgrade from my Thunderbolt to the Rezound for $99 (I can't seem to stomach the 2-yr contract even at that price!). I like my Thunderbolt but I have the itch to upgrade.... I can probably even sell my Thunderbolt on Ebay and make $100 lol. Anybody coming from a Thunderbolt wishing they stuck with the Thunderbolt and waited for a quad-core?
It's head and shoulders better than the Thunderbolt, but you may as well wait. With only two-year contracts these days it's worth the wait.
I've owned both, and I love my Rezound, but I got it as a replacement. I wouldn't have bothered otherwise.

It was kind of a mess, and it took a week of ****ing up customer service, executive customer service, and some nasty emails. I don't recommend it.
Did you get your TBolt on a one-year contract? That's probably the problem. They told me they pretty much wouldn't give someone who was about to be off-contract a new phone. They eventually did, but it was awful.

Exactly the problem. I paid extra for a one-year contract so they told me the same thing: We can't change your phone if you are able to upgrade. I am more than happy to go through the process if it means me not having to be in a stupid 2 year contract lol
Here's the best question...what would you be waiting for? All of the announced HTC phones aren't for CDMA carriers. Who knows when the next crop of phones would be hitting and what they would be.

There will be an HTC One on Verizon soon enough. The MSM8960 SOC supports CDMA and LTE.

rumored HTC fireball is CDMA and modeled ADR6410 which would be a successor to the Thunderbolt. If it's quad-core and coming in the next 4-6 months it may be the way to go...

I was only able to because a CS agent ****ed up. Or, rather, did their job, and Verizon claimed they ****ed up, and so I appealed to a higher power.
A Verizon CS promised me a Rezound as a replacement, said it was in the mail, blah blah blah. I called a few hours later when I realized I wasn't sure if had included a battery and back in the package. The nice lady I talked to saw the order for the Rezound and no order for a battery and a backplate. So she ordered that and sent it to me.
Two days later I get two packages. One with the Rezound battery backplate and battery, and one with a Thunderbolt. One of those wtf moments. So I called in, asked what happened, and after hours on the phone they finally determined that the original CS agent was not authorized to give me a Rezound, and so the order had been cancelled, and they just sent me another Thunderbolt, all without telling me. All the while they gave me at least three or four different reasons, the first being that they had never ordered me a Rezound in the first place. So I asked the obvious question of, so why did I get a Rezound battery and backplate?
In the end they wouldn't budge. Only a Thunderbolt for me. No Rezound possible, despite them promising one to me.
I was kinda pissed, so I wrote executive CS an email detailing the situation. They called me, sorted the story out, and shipped me a Rezound.
I think the only reason I got a Rezound was because of their enormous series of ****ups. Without that they probably would have given me the same brush off they gave you. Well, they tried to give it to me. I'm not sure you'll have any luck--my situation was pretty particular.
Ironically I have a very similar issue. The customer service rep lied to me and said there is no other 4G HTC that is any better than mine so my option was to downgrade to a 3G HTC or take another Thunderbolt. I said "what about the rezound?". He told me the screen size was bigger on the Rezound so that is not possible. I responded by correcting him about the size. He said, "Ok fine, I will try to ship you the Rezound and you may have it by Tuesday but it will probably get denied. I will call you tomorrow if that happens". Sure enough, I was on the phone with his supervisor the next day because he never called me (shocker). They basically told me to pound sand in nice words. Eh whatever...

That's weird to me. Because if you're able to upgrade then your contract is coming close to being up and you would be free to go to another carrier. A long time ago on Sprint or Cingular my phone broke when my contract was over and they said they didn't want to give me one for free (I had no insurance or anything) but at the same time they were unable to diagnose what the problem was since it couldn't turn on. So I told them if you can't tell me what's wrong with it and you won't replace it I'll just go get a free phone from another carrier. Within 5 minutes they were giving me a phone. They offered me a particular one and I asked about a different one that was the same price and they let me have that. This was in flip phone days, still it was $100 price on phone.

I'm able to cancel in June... Verizon allows you to upgrade 4 months ahead of contract renewal.
It probably depends on your usage habits. My wife has a year left with the TB, but it's a great phone for her. The Rezound screen and camera are leaps and bounds better, but the battery life and overheating issues make me hesitant to say its a substantially better device.
If you are a power user who will really appreciate the screen and speed, upgrade. Otherwise wait for the next batch of phones that we're sure to see late summer or so. May as well stay on the cutting edge if you have the option!

Don't take this as a wiseass commnent or anything but...Doesn't the Rezound have GSM hardware? When (other than the iPhone) has a manufacturer retrofitted a phone to work on Verizon?
From my experience and other's, they will pretty much only bulge ONLY if you are still a year or so ahead from the contract being done. People where able to upgrade from a Droid Charge to other 4G devices, same with the Bionic. Im getting my wife her 3rd Droid Charge replacement, it keeps dropping 4G like there's no tomorrow whereas my Rezound is perfectly fine. One more complaint and they guranteed me a different 4G phone.
From reading a bunch of other similar posts like mine, I think I'm gonna make the jump. @ $99 for such a powerful device, I'd probably be crazy for passing it up when it very recently came out

Guys and girls today I got cheated by T-Mobile Last week I was riding my motorcycle and my phone fell out of my pocket so I got a warranty replacement phone trough Asurion for 130 bucks. It's not too much for a new device but here comes the messed up part. I get the device and it would constantly drop signal or do random reboots with no connection at all for the next half hour and crap like that. So I went to T-Mobile and told them about my issues and they gave me a new sim card so I was like ok that will fix it but no it kept doing the same stuff. I went to T-Mobile again and they gave me another sim card and told me to contact HTC about a new back cover since it might be the antena causing all the issues. I did that got the new cover and nothing same crap all over again so I got pissed off and called T-Mobile and they agreed to exchange my phone but since the amaze is currently out of stock they offered me 2 choices: HTC sensation and Samsung exhibit 2. I wount even comment on the exhibit since its not even remotely close to any type of phone that came out at the time of the amaze even stationary phones have better statistics than that crap. For the sensation yes ok that's a great phone I had before I paid 280 bucks for my amaze. So I *****ed at them for 30 more mins and the agreed to add the Samsung galaxy s2 ****rocket to the list. Anything else was "too much of an upgrade" to be aledgeble. So I had 0 chance of getting anything good. At the end I agreed to have the galaxy and I feel really cheated. I was told to call the retention center by a friend of mine. Do you guys think that it would have an impact at the situation and what would you do?

If they were kind enough to offer you the galaxy s2 then, consider yourself lucky. This is out of there control and retention usually doesnt make offers to get you a different model that isn't already offer as an exchange. I know because I do rentention, sorry to hear you had that kind of luck with everything, its a tough situation I can't comment on the reason T-Mobile doesn't have the amaze in stock but a lot of people were affected expecting a new amaze or exchange just last week it was instock because I was gonna get one exchanged but they must be really running low.

Don't get me wrong when I start off like this, because I AM here to help and I do completely understand how you feel but, the subject line of this is inappropriate. It's not t mobiles fault
A)there's a shortage of amazes that is completely beyond t mobile's control
B) the invoice cost of the amaze is currently $450, so offering you a phone that still carries a $600 invoice cost (still sucks because its not an amaze, cant blame you for not wanting the S2 but) ain't an unfair exchange
And C) if there's anyone to blame, its presumably apple for the customs holdup of HTC product that recently happened and is almost certainly at least a major contributer in the current Amaze inventory issue.
However... that being said. Since you accepted the order for the galaxy s 2, I'm not certain retention can help you. It did not however effect your contract in any way. I'd say once you actually receive your s2, and if you are in all fact not that happy with it, call them (dial 611 and say "cancel service'' when the automated system asks how it can help) and explain the situation. Tell them you're a diehard HTC fan and hate the S2 and that youre strongly leaning towards an Evo 4gLTE or One X and see what happens. If your contract date is indeed close to coming up, they may still offer you a bargained price on a One S, (assuming amaze inventory is still depleted then, otherwise they might be able to send you another amaze at that point).
That's all i can really say about that. Don't blame you for being upset in the least. It sucks for everyone right now. Wish I had amazes to sell for dirt cheap at my work still but they're all gone =)

It's not retarded... just because there are some stores that still have the amaze (which are few and far between if you're in a major city) doesn't mean that someone over the phone in a completely different department that runs off of completely different inventory would magically have access to a retail store's inventory. They could try calling every store in the customer's area to find one. Id say that'd be reasonable and logical given the circumstances... But even then, the retail manager would have to do a $450 override which goes against the store's ability to help other customers with issues actually related to the retail channel. Sucky situation for sure.
No offense intendex, just education is all. There is a lack of inventory on the amaze. The only ones with access are the stores lucky enough to not have sold out their inventory yet.

Calling to complain to put it in "better" words is a great way to get shut down and get crappy asistance with no solutions. The customer service people could easily just shut down and go by policy and op would get no help. Since he got a gs2 then he obviously got someone willing to help but that attitude gets people no help. To address your post while ridiculous as it is, stores carry devices for sale not for exchange and T-Mobile won't take the loss on a new unit when it should be exchanged with a refurb as per the warranty, most stores are short on them as it is, unfortunately T-Mobile can't help the reasons they can't sell the amaze at the moment and customer care has a lot of things at there disposal to try and do for op but the store will make a decision following managers orders so getting one at a store is gonna he more difficult then over the phone.

Last time I had issues with my mt4g (my third one in a year was breaking, so I was calling to get a fourth replacement sent out) I went straight to retention and got a new mt4g sent out as a replacement but the rep was kind of a know-it-all jerk so I called back and somehow got upgraded the amaze for free(I gave the mt4g to my brother, ha). I was just nice to them and told them I wasn't happy with all the exchanges.
I was honestly shocked when they offered the amaze, but I think it was cuz I was extremely polite and kept saying I love TMobile and HTC but I wasn't happy. And prob that I've been with them for almost 15 years...haha. Anyways, I say give it a shot.

I have manners when I speak to customer service. And I think everyone should. I just believe there is something more that a major corporation can do. I don't literally mean go in there guns blazing. Just go with a high concern and tell them you don't want any of those phones offered. You paid for the Amaze. Offered a Warranty. Opted to have Insurance. Pay for services. Why would you have to settle for something you don't want? That's all. Just my opinion.
I had other things on my mind but I edited it and decided not to post it.

I wasn't disrespectful in any way during the call but I was really upset. Given the fact that I spent quite a lot of my personal time dealing with the faulty device they gave me they still made me pay 20$ for them to ship me the galaxy s2. I do understand that I'm talkin to people doing their job on the other end but they have to understand that I'm giving them my hard earned money and when they put me in a position like this ill just find some1 else to give it to. I don't think that ill be renewing my contract with them.

$20 is a lot easier to swallow than the $50 charged by verizon in some cases.
Besides... If you're paying $4.79 a month for insurance only you might as well get the full $7.99 package that gives your (very expensive) smartphone a lifetime warranty and makes shipments for warranty exchanges $5 and delivered over night rather than $20 for 7 business days. That's a mere 10.6 cent difference per day. Even if you had no protection at all that's still only a .26 cent per day difference. Sometimes you get the level of service you're willing to pay for

I wouldn't settle for those terms, none of those phones are comparable replacements, and they aren't limited by just their last invoice value - here is how I get s*%t done.
First, the only phone comparable is the HTC one x. Hardware wise it IS the only comparable phone. You can be nice and respectful while still explaining that this is NOT a fair trade. Just tell them that your insurance was able to provide you with a replacement, even if it is faulty, tmobile should be able to offer you the same phone or something that compares HARDWARE wise. Mention that you still don't like that the HTC one doesn't have a removable battery or external SD, but you'd be willing to take that rather than an amaze if they don't have it. Sound like you are reluctantly willing, not super excited and scamming them.
Here is the secret! The lowest tiers of all forms of customer support simply CANNOT do some things - but their boss can. Or their bosses boss. You aren't trying to get the guy on the bottom in trouble, you are "escalating the issue". One of the people as you go up the ranks will want to help you, especially if you say things like "I have been a customer for xx years", "most of my family is with TMO because I recommended you, so I'd like to know you'll make this right", and "if you were in this position you'd want a GOOD replacement, right? I mean I spent $600 on this phone and they are offering me blah blah.."
You aren't trying to be argumentative, you're trying to get what you deserve. You bought a $600 phone, spent at least $10 per month for insurance since then, and you want a phone at LEAST as good as what you had considering how much you've invested - and you DID bring all your friends and family to TMO, if you switch perhaps they will too? How much will NOT giving you a phone potentially effect their future profits? If your family leaves tmo, their friends leave tmo, THEIR friends.. some one higher on the food chain will see that an extra $100 loss is worth potentially saving years of thousands in profits - their boss will approve. It is what they do. If they fix your problem they know you will tell everyone you know how great tmobile is, how great they treat you as a customer.. if they do it make sure to thank them, tell them you understand the guys below them are just doing their job.. be thankful.
I've destroyed macbooks and gotten replacements with better specs(it took getting escalated to the assistant vice-president of marketing), I've genuinely made a lot of mistakes that are my fault.. but if they want your FUTURE business, they will do you right and overlook things. Someone will, you just have to put in the time/effort - if it is worth it to you.
And if you do settle then what about any accessories that was purchased? Are they willing to compensate you for those? The Amaze hasn't even been out for a year and its not a supported device? You buy a phone expecting to use it for at least a year. It's hasn't even been around that long.
--------------------------------
It's Better To Fail At Originality
Than To Succeed In Imitation.
--------------------------------
Shouldn't you be dealing with Asurion since they are the ones who did the original warranty replacement and gave you a defective unit? They almost certainly have more refurbs available so they should be able to send you another Amaze. Yes, it will be another refurb, which sucks, but that seems like what you want more than the S2.
Rob
Your insurance should replace the phone BTW.
You had to complain to get a gs2?
They offered it to me yesterday as an exchange upfront.
Spec wise it IS a comparable replacement. They have the same exact insides. Only real difference is the camera on the amaze is a lil better and the screens. Its just not your kinda phone. You want what you want
Be lucky they offered that though. There not going to offer you a ONE S lets say, cuz its brand new.
I do agree though, they should have more amaze's to give out and its BS that they dont, BUT if they only had one phone to offer, that would be the one I would expect because at least it has teh same specs and is not a downgrade, SPEC wise.

Don't know if this is the correct forum or not, but I am certain I will be informed by somebody else should this be misplaced.
So.... I lost my phone last weekend and I subsequently filed a claim with Asurion, T-Mobile's insurance provider. However, I have a strange circumstance that did not require me to suspend my service. I was at the T-Mobile store getting a micro SIM card for use with another phone I was planning on flashing over to T-Mobile. Anyhow as it turns out, I could not get a micro SIM as it would render my service useless on my phone (unless of course I possessed a SIM card adapter, which I found existed after this incident). So the rep had to issue me a new SIM card.
After I all of that excitement I noticed I was running late picking-up my kids. So I rushed from the store, and I swear that I had all of my phones & SIM cards with me. However, upon returning home I could not locate my phone. I thought to myself that it must have fallen between the seats and that I would search for it after the kids leave. So I broke out the new SIM card and an old MyTouch 3G Slide to use during the interim. After the kids left I searched for my phone with no success. I even called the T-Mobile store and there too was informed they were not in possession of my Amaze.
I waited to file my claim anyways as I really believed my phone must be in my vehicle, especially as my truck is notorious for consuming cell phone, wallets, etc.! Sunday comes around and I still haven't found my Amaze. So I file a claim with Asurion, and I wait to hear back from them. Six hours later I get an e-mail response saying they have news about my claim. So I call the 866# and I am informed by a rep that my claim is denied because my line has been in use. I of course explain my story, and the rep claims to understand. They check with T-Mobile to see when the last use of my phone occurred and according to them it was the following day. This is odd, but my thought is that I had not used my phone the entire day prior to filing my claim thus the report of the last use of my phone.
After all is said and done, the rep at Asurion files another claim assuring me that this claim would not be rejected & that she would call me within 24 hours. I never heard from the rep so I called again only to be informed that my claim again is denied with no reason given. So again I tell the rep what happened, and again the rep says the understand, calls T-Mobile, and files another claim with all the same promises as before. Next day I get the same e-mail as I received prior which by now indicates to me that my claim is denied. This time when I call I decided to escalate the situation. Well, this only further confused the rep I spoke with as they also refused to allow me to speak to a supervisor while claiming they could solve the issue. I get placed on hold by this rep with the excuse that HE needed to contact T-Mobile. He comes back on the line, and right away starts to tell me that my line is insured not my phone! I of course already have the literature from Asurion pulled up. I very firmly explain to him that every single reason he has given me for not honoring my claim is complete BS.
This representative continued to hold his ground that my phone line is insured, that if they cannot detect the phone on the network the claim is no good and some other idiotic excuse that I rebutted. By now he can tell that I am not very satisfied with their tactics, nor his level of service. So he again places me on hold telling me that HE will speak with T-Mobile. Well... I got blind transferred to T-Mobile, and of course I am informed that they cannot process the insurance claim. I immediately ask to speak with a supervisor. So I get placed on hold, rep returns telling me that I need to wait and she asks me if she could place me on hold again, then she hangs-up on me. Great! An hour on the phone & I get nowhere.
So I decided to try the online support people. Which when I am chatting online sometimes with "customer support" I 100% feel that I am speaking with a chat-bot! This 'person' also tells me that they cannot do anything. However, he offers me phone upgrades on all 4 lines of service. So while I am waiting for this 'person' to type their next reply I began to search for an upgrade. Some upgrade it turns out to be as they are basically offering me to purchase phones at the full retail price. I let the rep know that this is such a bogus benefit and that I could purchase a phone at the full retail price anytime I wished. Enough of this; I'll just call T-Mobile one last time and inform them straight away that this is the last opportunity for them to get this right, and that after dealing with Asurion & their less than stellar service, I will not be calling them. This time I actually get a person that really understands the words coming from my mouth. He ends up filing the claim with Asurion for me, and after speaking to 10 people by now informs me that my claim will continue to be denied unless I suspend my service!
I had figured by now that no human is involved in the processing of claims. Looks like I am correct in my assessment. Sigh.... So again I get a notice this morning that my claim is ready and to call again, which is code for your claim is denied. Yup, my 5th claim is denied. So I am typing out this story of frustration while I await a reply to my 6th claim. A claim which I have finally adapted all of my responses for their automated system to understand.
I realize this is very long winded, but I appreciate your understanding of my frustration with what I now view as some sort of scheme. A scheme that is meant to bilk consumers out of their hard earned dollars, and never provide the service for which they have paid.
Am I the only person that has had this issue with Asurion/T-Mobile or any other carrier as it seams Asurion has the market cornered on providing Phone Replacement Insurance for every major carrier?!

sorry to hear..
This is why Ive NEVER gotten insurance on ANY phone i've ever owned (be it on t-mobile, or verizon, or sprint). Because of the fact I know they all insure through asurion and I know for a fact Asurion sucks balls. Ive heard and read so many horror stories about asurion...not to mention the replacement phones they send out are usually garbage. theyre usually refurbished phones..and by refurbished phones they clean the screen, make sure it turns on, and then call it good. the same phone that went in for signal problems will 99% come out with signal problems. Eff asurion in the a, seriously. dont ever get asurion insurance again. if you ever do get insurance on the phone make sure its carrier insurance, not insurance via 3rd party (aka asurion)
i hope everything works out well for you.
Update:
Just as I planned I received an email finally approving my claim! This is what happens when an f-ing computer decides what to do. There quite literally has been no human involvement with my claim. Yet these ya'hoo's talk about fraud & all this other crap.
I got news for you idiots: when a system is finally figured out by people, then it is ripe for being manipulated.
I do agree very much with the post above me though. Stay away from the insurance for more reasons then the fact that you will be ripped off by this company. My opinion is that you save the $8/month you would pay towards the insurance & save it specifically for a fund for your phone.
Another note: I have been reading a whole lot of posts about stolen or lost devices. I highly suggest installing some program such as Lookout. I am still checking on my phone every day to see if it has been turned back on/found by somebody.
Other security ideas to consider: encrypting the data on your phone & SD card, locking the phone, password protecting the SIM card and with ICS entering owner info that is displayed on the lock screen (there are still some honest persons out there, they just don't always think to call the carrier to let them know they found a phone).
About the above security suggestions... I know that people complain about how unlocking the phone takes too much time. My sister is the biggest complainer I know. I did her a favor by installing Lookout on her brand new Amaze. Anyways, the 3 seconds it takes to unlock your phone can save you the headache later.
Just saying!

I've been shelling out money to these folks for the past 3yrs now.
What I want to know is did you call and tell T-Mobile that you lost the phone? Because they should be able to IMEI block it. Then I would go as far as to get a police report and then send in the claim again. Once that they see your phone is IMEI blocked then it should qualify your claim. Don't quote me on this but its worth a shot.
Good Luck.
If they don't ever wanna cooperate, always file a complaint with the BBB. Works with me

Received replacement late yesterday. Upon plugging in for initial charge noticed that the usb connector is loose, and yes I am using the charger sent with the phone.
I have to say my loyalty to this underrated phone is waning, and the thought of jumping over to Samsung is worrisome. I cannot and will not use a phone that I cannot replace the battery or add memory! Sorry HTC, but the One line lacks a whole lot of thought.
If my Acer tablet had cellular capability, I would just use it. The A500 has the best battery life I've ever had in an electronic product, and is well designed & constructed. Only problem is the optics, they suck.

you have to realize you recieved a refurbished product, not a new one. furthemore it was refurbished by ASURION not HTC. so factor both of those in and be happy it even works. Asurion's QC is horrible most of the time it seems they make sure it turns on and then say ''okay its fine''

Yeah. I know now that this is a newly refurbished P.O.S.! I am not pleased at all. Just got off the phone with Asurion. They are sending me an One S. I really don't know what to do here. Blame people that scam for all of this non sense, by all means I don't fully agree with all of asurions practices but working for tmobile I get to see the side you guys dont. People call in for claims by using there friends phones to try and get better phones, people that "lost" it and we check there call history and someone they know is using it, etc..... its easy to be upset I would if I was in ops shoes but if you understand the system insurance is great to have, I always tell people if you lose your phone first things first file your claim get it started even if u don't complete it you can get the proper direction on what steps to do once its lost to get your service up and running till you get a new one.

Cant really say I have any complains with Asurion other than the T Mobile store I went to was out of Amazes so I got stuck with a SGS2. Although technacly two SGS2s ebcause the first one had a problem where when making a call nothing would be heard, so luckilly I was in the parking lot still and went back in and got a replacement. I tried talking to the lady into letting me pay a difference for a OneS but she said not :/ I love HTCs so its kind of a bummer to have a Samsung but I cant complain too much either.
Also off topic: Glad to see the Amaze finally got CM9 working, well GSM atleast

ONE S is probably the best phone i've ever used from T-Mboile. (after flashing a new rom with the 3dots menu removed) nice battery life, thin, slick, fast, feels great in my hand, awesome bright screen that's just the right size for one hand use. I like it much better than my S3, except the no microSD card slot part. non removable battery doesnt really matter if you have have the 3.99 warranty replacement.
I just cracked my my amaze screen the other day, even had the d30 case. It just landed on its face sadly.. but what kind of deductible does assurion charge ? I'm debating on just keeping the phone cause its just a hairline crack straight up the middle of the screen.

They deductible is around 125-130$ also if you decide to go that route, PRAY or call a Tmo store ahead to see if they even have any Amaze's left. There were none at the store I filed my claim so I got stuck with a SGS2
Dang, I didn't even pay that much for the phone. I convinced tmobile to fork it over for 50... No way I'm paying twice as much for a refurb. Thanks though.

I cracked my screen a few weeks ago. I also had the D3O case but it didn't help at all. the deductible was $130 and Asurion set my replacement right away (called about 23:00 Saturday night and had new phone Tuesday morning). the one they sent me was a brand new phone in a sealed unopened box, so now I have a spare battery, battery cover and SIM card.
That makes it sound much better. New phone and an extra battery will be sweet. I'll go for it. Thanks

I would trade my Amaze for a One S in a heartbeat. Going to the S4 processor and be able to run Cyanogenmod. Heck, the One S has a much more stable CM10 than the Amaze does for CM9. I hate that I can't get a stable Cyanogenmod ROM on my phone.
My friend bought a Droid DNA with a dead pixel in the screen. I told her that she should exchange it because that it is not normal. She went to the Verizon store and they said that it was not a big enough of a deal so they would not exchange it for the same phone but only exchange it for a different phone with a 35 dollar restocking fee. So she ended up getting a Samsung Note 2 which costs more, she does not really like, and has a yellow screen tint issue. Any suggestions?
Yeah, call Verizon and tell them how awful the experience was, and that you bought a cutting edge device that is not 100% functional. You aren't dissatisfied with the phone - you're dissatisfied with this model's bad screen.
They couldn't restock the one you have now anyway, because it's faulty.
Not to argue, but most companies have an "exceptable tolerance" for dead pixels on a screen, i.e. there has to x amount dead within a given space ( size of a dime for instance).
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk 2
Could you actually see one dead pixel on this screen? Not being sarcastic, just curious.
Best bet is to call customer service. Since she accepted the Note for a replacement it might be a little difficult to get a new DNA back. It could take talking with a supervisor because she is on her second phone but I think if she explains the situation they'll work with her. It just depends on who you get on the line.
Agreed. Call customer service and express how ANGRY and Disappointed she is that she didn't get a phone she REALLY wanted in perfect working order. And that she didn't really want the Note2 that was pushed on her by the (unscrupulous) salesperson. If the initial contact doesn't do what you want, escalate it to a supervisor. Can't hurt!
Do exactly what rfarrarh said. I have several VZW employees that are my friends (including my best friend and daughters god father) and they are floored at this experience of yours. Make sure to say that the salesman pushed her to the Note 2. And, as always, threaten to leave VZW for another carrier. One dead pixel is enough to return the phone as a faulty device covered by the warranty (not to be confused with the insurance). Just complaining about poor customer service as well should be enough to get this situation resolved.

Verizon is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. Keep calling CS until you get a rep that helps you. I have had to call in three or four times before getting someone to actually help me.
why all the verizon hate I work at verizon wireless and I did a exchange today for a customer with a dead pixel on the dna and I had to use a magnifying glass to really see it in the store. So much hatred towards verizon do people realize if you going in all pissed it doesn't help be nice and tell us the issue and most reps would be happy to help.

Nothing from this story makes it sound like she did that - if she had to be convinced she should exchange it, I doubt she was both upset and outgoing enough to walk in being *****y toward them. Not that it isn't possible, I just wouldn't jump to that conclusion.
Don't you get 14 days to return and call off the upgrade? If so she should do that and get the dna at another verizon or a retailer.

yes you get 14 day return policy with a 35 dollar restock fee and only 1 exchange is technically allowed. If I were her I would call CS *611 and talk to them at this point most stores cannot and will not help unless you go to a manager and get an exception and that depends on the manager. sucks people have bad experiences in stores I mean I am sure it happens just hate to hear people say verizon is the worst when I know that is not true. anyway that is my 2 cents.
Also I want my DNA but I have to wait so at least you guys could all get one and experience it I can only play with one in my store.

This thread doesn't seem to have much Verizon hate in it in my opinion. I'm lucky to have a Verizon store where are all the employees are nice. And if I'm correct I believe that was AT&T who was just rated as having the worst customer service for phone carriers for the second year in a row.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda premium
Try going into a sprint store and see how well that goes for you... You'll be running back to Verizon. Most of sprints in store employees are dumber then a bag of rocks and too arrogant to bother trying to understand an issue or actually help you. I would suggest going to another Verizon store or calling cs. My limited experience with Verizon has been nothing but positive thus far.
I believe the standard procedure at a Verizon store is to first try to talk you out of your request. In your example by claiming that a dead pixel is not a big deal. All you have to do is simply insist that for you it is a big deal and you want the phone exchanged. After that they say that although they still disagree about the dead pixel, they will exchange the phone anyway because of their satisfaction guaranteed type policy.
I went through this four times (yes, it was somewhat painful) last week. Basically went to one store to exchange my wife's phone, they did not have the DNA, went to the store where I bought it, they just ran out of DNA's, finally got it done at the third store. The next day I exchanged my own phone also at that same store (with the same clerk). So maybe it counts as three times.
My wife's phone made a popping sound with the back cover if you pressed it, that bothered me. Did not bother any of the Verizon reps, some even claimed they could not hear it. After some pondering, and my insistence that regardless of what they thought or heard, I was not happy with the phone, all agreed to exchange it (and in two cases sent me to the next store to get that new phone).
My phone had a *really* recessed power button. I almost had to use a finger nail to press it. My wife's, as a point of reference, was much better. Same story with the VZ rep. He thought the button was fine, but I told him that it definitely was not fine for me. Got it exchanged. He looked almost offended the entire time he was swapping the phones, the second time now, but got it done nevertheless. After I thanked him he even made the point that this was not a big deal, as long as it makes me, the customer, happy.
Given the number of tries here, a trend has clearly developed. Hope this helps people deal with the exchanges.

isn't verizon policy that you can just take back the note 2? Tell them you are not happy and you are going to go back to your old device. Then call customer care and tell them that you are leaving as soon as your contract is up unless they get you the DNA.
I would not try at the store since they get commision for the device.

You can only do that once. Technically, the DNA to Note was that one shot. That is how they look at it in the stores anyway.
If your friend was within the 14 day period, the employees at the store can't tell her ****. Your friend got screwed, and I would file a complaint right away!
I too found a dead pixel, but honestly its not that big of a deal, and nobody other than me would ever notice it and I only notice it when I look for it. Think about it, its literally 1 in 2,073,600 pixels, I think ill get over it.

That's why she has to say that she was pushed into the Note 2 by the sales Rep (which is what sounds like happened). The Note 2 is $100 more, which looks really bad on the reps part. My VZW friends tell me that if she talks to a supervisor it will be fixed. Especially if she files a complaint. I mean you buy this new product that's top of the line and you find a defect in it and they won't replace it. By pushing the higher price device taking advantage of a persons desperation.

I think that might be more regional than anything else. Where I'm at, it's the complete opposite. It's the Verizon guys that give you attitude while the Sprint guys are polite and understanding.
