[Q] What is my phone doing now? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My phone, with some frequency is showing me this circular arrow that seems to suggest that something is syncing. I've turned off gmail and facebook syncing, and I am not backing anything up to the cloud. What is my phone doing when it shows this symbol, and how to I control it? Thanks!

The activity is not associated with any app. My phone occasionally creates a screen shot (don't know why), so I have uploaded one at random.

Its probably syncing your contacts, it takes a while even on wifi

But gmail sync is off? Facebook sync is off? I have no other accounts under Accounts and Sync.....

its possessed throw holy water on it.

Go to your settings and see whats running, that maybe a hint. Also do you have startup manager installed this will help as it will let you know what apps are being used on when your phone boots up

So, I ended up reflashing and that sorted it out. Just one of those weird artifacts of a dirty flash, I guess.

I had that happen once (the stuck spinning arrows) and it burned my battery down fast and got crazy hot. It happened after a bad theme flash, like you a reflash cures all, well almost. ;-)

[Help]Sync won't stay unchecked

Anyone else getting the issue .. when I uncheck sync in settings.. it checks its self ... no matter how many times I uncheck it ... it always checks its self back up again.
Had this same issue on bionix-v 1.2
I'm on flagship4 now..
Any solutions?
Wipe out dalvik cache thru recovery if that doesn't work Odin back. Then reflash.
I don't think people would like to help u if you post in develop section.
You would get more answer in q&a section.

I have before in the past and got no results..
This is the reason why I posted it here.
I cant reproduce this. Which sync box are you trying to uncheck? Is the apps auto sync button still ticked while you are un-ticking a specific account?

It's the auto sync button.. the one below background data..
I'm on Eugene's 35 kernel.. starting to wonder if it might be that.
Don't see how the kernel would relate to this specific sync issue
I'm on flagship and it always rechecks tmobile contacts in display options. I don't even know why they were added in the first place but yeah they eventually show again. Wont allow me to remove that account either. Sync itself stays off tho. Well the box stays unchecked I should say.

Delete the apk, it's completely useless. As for sync enabling itself again..I have no issues whatsoever, but I deleted the tmo apk.

[Q] Apps Re Arranging

Hi guys, first post here. Long time reader, and this site has been amazing, the search function and wealth of knowledge here is incredible. Well, I've flashed my Galaxy s2 a couple of times and am currently on XXKI4. It was an Optus branded unlocked phone, and thanks to you fellas here, it's a slick, smooth phone with no bloatware.
So, this ones stumped me, and haven't found it so far, but when I turn my phone off, or clear the memory, two apps in the apps drawer get mixed up. Now, again thanks to XDA, I found if you move some apps to SD, this can happen, so I moved offending apps back to internal, but the two that always move are TASKS, and TASK MANAGER. I always have to put them back, as I keep my apps in alphabetical order, and it's getting annoying. These two are obviously a system app, and have no option to move them in Tiranium Backup PRO.
Anybody have any ideas.
Thanks in advance,
Mark.

Do you not think having a signature 700px high is a bit overkill?
Hey thanks for the tip on AppZorter. Well, when I looked it up, the description in the app gave me the tip.
What I did was go to Settings>Applications>Running Services then clicked on the "All" tab. Scroll down to TwLauncher and cleared the data. I had to rearrange everything again, but now I can clear memory, or reboot phone, and everything stays as it is. I didn't bother downloading the app, as I don't have too much on the phone, so arranging stuff myself is a 2-3 minute job.
I hope this helps someone else.

Try installing a virus scanning app from the market to see if it finds the culprit. Otherwise backup important apps/data, wipe and flash a fresh ROM. Not 100% sure if flashing a new ROM removes the virus but its worth a shot.

What rom are you running?
Was running a miui port on my xperia arc, ill install a virus scanner, likely avast and see what comes up, the number/numbers are not in my phone book as well. So it's not a number i know of.

Wow that's weird. Maybe try factory reset

Can you post a list of the stuff you have flashed please.
no ****. lets see a list of apps. i throw the phone in the toilet and run.
Did you have the phone connected to power?
I've noticed that once in a while when on a/c power my phone will glitch and just start randomly doing stuff.
But if you were on Wifi it could be possible or maybe even over bluetooth.
Can always turn off phone, reboot to recovery and factory reset/wipe data.
Sent from my Rezound
Turn on airplane mode. If it continues, it's something local causing the problem, since all remote access will have been disconnected. With touchscreens, a bit of water or high humidity can cause apparently random "clicks" on the screen, which could appear to be someone doing things.
Unfortunately, it could also have come over 3g/4g if the wrong app had been unknowingly installed, or flashed... Could just be a power issue though. Either way, if it was me, I would have pulled the battery, went and changed my pants, and then post the list of everything flashed and installed. Thank you much.
put gay porn pictures on your phone and noone will look through your pictures twice...normally.
Gay porn protection. Quietly Brilliant. The Rezound forums have got to be the best on here.

[Q] Various problems after screen repair

I broke my screen a few weeks ago, so I repaired it. It (digitizer+display) working basically ok, but I got some other problems.
1. I get fc´s everywhere, sometimes the apps work, sometimes not...
2. I can´t play any music or videos (exept web streaming videos like youtube)., all my music apps get immediatly fcs.
I already tried lots of roms (MROM, Neutrino, Topsmarts...., also ics ones) and different music player apps, but it won´t work.
Do you think something might been damaged during the repairment?
Edit: Oh, I almost forgot, my CPU won´t toggle anymore, runs at max. all the time...
Possibly ribbon cables not seated correctly.

You may have a 'phantom touch' somewhere which is somehow keeping your phone active. Try downloading a digitizer test app and seeing if your phone thinks it's being touched when it's not.
