So... before I went to Bionix, I made a nandroid backup, how do I restore back to that nandroid (or do I have to reflash nero first?)
Please help I'm too lazy to restore all my settings if I reflash a fresh nero Worst case scenario, I'll just stick with bionix.
The problem I'm having with bionix is the terribly crap battery life. I lost 30% in 3 hrs. ._. I mad.
Oh, and is anyone else having a problem where the phone dies overnight and vibrant is your main alarm in the morning? =/
phone should be on a charger no?its not the rom
Yeah, my phone is always on charger overnight low or high battery (yeah yeah, i know its bad for my battery, but can't risk being late)

Really?
Did you have Bionix long enough to do a few power cycles on your battery? The battery life is always crap right after you flash a rom, which is why you need to recondition it. I think it takes about 3-4 cycles before you start to see your battery's true potential.
I went from Nero v5 to Bionix-V 1.2 and the battery life has been stellar to say the least. I'm dang near 30 hrs unplugged and my battery is like at 73% (although I'd have to admit that I haven't been using my mobile as heavily in the past few days).
As for the first question, it is my understanding that you would have to flash back to Nero first (and make sure that kernel is the same as the one you're going to restore from the nandroid).

30 hours and 73%?
Turning your phone on just to see the time doesn't count.
When you say "3-4 cycles", what exactly do you mean? I did the whole 100% charge, followed by a full drain, followed by another full charge while the phone was off and then wiping the battery stats in recovery mode, followed by another full drain and another full charge. Do I need to do 2 or 3 more full drains and charges, or should I just use and charge the phone normally? Thanks!

lol! nah, I've actually made some calls today but haven't been gaming or surfing as much as I usually do. From that post till now, my battery went down to 68%.

Generally, I do the whole "flash the rom at 100% then wipe battery stats", from then on, I just play games (Angry Birds + City Jump mostly - so addicted ~_~) until my battery goes dead. After that, I'll just use my phone normally, from 100% to 0 and then plug in. After a week or so (depending on my usage) I do end up seeing my battery life extend some (or be shorter depending on kernel, I think). So far, I've been doing great on KA7 and when I was on Nero v5 (KA5 kernel iirc), I was getting an avg of 23 - 26(or 27) hrs.
Is it bad to flash... then use the phone until like 70% and then 100% THEN wipe stats? That's what I did, and i'm not sure if it's good x)
Should I fully DRAIN and then charge back or should I just get to like 20% then fully charge back?
you know? i'm not sure.
i just followed what was in the rom thread (always make sure to read it 2-3 times to avoid asking dumb questions, lol).
you could try fully draining the battery, then wiping stats when it hits %100. just make sure that battery is stone cold dead (or at least, that's what i always did).

anyways...
everytime i flash a rom, should i recondition the battery? will i have the same battery life because i'm about to update from nero 3 to nero 4.1
Dont see why not.
Each rom may read the battery differently. the easiest way to deter that is to drain it all the way down until the phone dies, charge it all the way back up and wipe the battery stats.
Gives each rom a fresh reading
I went from 8-10 hours for the past 6 months to now I'm at 14 hours with 19% left after following http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=722862 .
I read somewhere else after letting it drain and charging (while off) again will further increase the counter/timer/life.
Remember though, doing it TO much to a lion battery will damage it. An every now and then (If you did it once every 3-4 months) is a non-issue.

On ClockWork recovery.
Yesterday, I let my battery die. Charged it last night, and wiped battery states. Ran the phone like normal today. Was down to about 30% left, rebooted. When everything came back up and running, that battery showed to be 5%. WTF!!! How do I drop 25%, just by rebooting?!?!?!?

I re-wiped the battery stat this morning. I was down to about 50% when I needed to reboot. When everything came back up, it showed I was down to 28%. Is this an indication that the battery needs to be replaced or should I try a different Kernel?
Either you have a bad battery, bad battery meter, or your not reconditioning right.

Charge to 100%
Boot into recovery
Wipe battery stats
Reboot
Don't unplug charger until at desktop again (You could debate this one, but that's when I do it)
And don't worry about killing your battery, it'll do more harm than good.
Explanation - When you wipe battery stats, it tells your phone you're at 100%
So, if you wipe when you ARE at 100% you'll get accurate readings.

The past 2 times I did this, the phone was turned off and plugged in and charged over night. this morning I wiped the stat, but i do not remember if I had unplugged it before it finished booting up. I am charging it now, with it on. When it reaches 100%, should I reboot into recovery and wipe it or should I let it run all the way down?
What exactly do you mean by 'let it run all the way down'?

Down to say some were around 20 - 5%.
As far as I understand that shouldn't be necessary, and could weaken your battery.
As long as it's fully charged when you wipe the stats you should be good to go.

Ok...I have ran the phone like normal. Within 6 hours, I am down to 62%. I rebooted the phone, and it still shows me at 62%. At least I have that fixed.
Now, I see some people use OverStock and seem to be getting better battery life. I just want to get about 16+ hours out of my battery. Right now i seem to be pushing 12 hours. What is the tick that i am missing??
For every hundred vibrant users there seems to be a hundred different accounts of battery life, and a hindered different opinions on how to keep it down. 12 hours on the stock battery is pretty good, especially compared to stock.
Mine'll last me around 15+, if I left it not charging, i think.
I'm on overstock, the screen is at the dimmest 95% of the time, and I use setcpu. 1000/1000 with a screen off profile of 200/200. So, that works for me pretty well.

You need to recondition yr battery as posted above, 2-4 cycles. But i prefer to re-flash ROM when battery 100%, should you get proper batt stats.
You may buy new one to test yr system n batt stats, also good for spare. Or just borrow yr friends battery, just to check yr rom n batt stats. Treat it like you did before.
Good luck.

200/200 conservative scaling and no sleep death? Didn't know that was possible on overstock...guess I'll try it.
Edit: sleep of death...you must be on power save or something which afaik doesn't work at all.
*checks*
Yeah, powersave. What's this about it not working? It occasionally lags a little when I unlock it and the widget definitely says 200
Sent via telepathy
I don't think powersave is supported...try conservative and you'll get sleep death due to the low frequency...you don't get this with powersave because I don't believe it's working...trying to confirm this.
Took the plunge and rooted my bolt on Saturday following the guide in this forum using adb. All was ok, no custom Rom, just rooted. Battery seemed to be about the same. Put the phone on charge Saturday night and was fully charged Sunday. All working as it should until Monday morning. I got the phone off of the charger and battery(2750 ma) was only14%. I freaked a little and charged the phone on the way in to work. The charge only got to around 34% and would discharge very fast when unplugged. I had read somewhere to cycle power while charging to correct errors in the reporting of battery levels, so I tried that and got different numbers every time, but not able to get a full charge.
To make a long story short, I could not get my batteries ( stock or extended) to charge. I tried imosys (forgive me if the name is wrong) on the stock Rom and even flashed the Mr2 radio and installed das bamf ginger remix without any luck. Battery would not charge under any condition. Woke up to a dead phone this morning and had to install the other battery to get the phone un rooted.
The phone is now charging as it should with both batteries.
Any ideas why the phone would not charge?
Also used 4 different chagers during the process.
you should try calibrating the battery
since you have root, you can download and run BatteryCalibration by marosige (app author shows as NeMa in the market). simple app, instructions on the launch screen.
Don't you have to have 100% battery to calibrate?
I could not get the batteries to full charge.
The Batteries were definitely discharging faster than the charger could maintain, or there wasn't any charge applied to batteries at all.
I've had mine charge at a glacial pace before and discharge so fast you could watch the percentage numbers drop just holding it in your hand for 60 seconds. Personally, I don't call a phone charged if it's on. Turn that badboy off and make sure fast boot is off as well. Even with ROMs and kernels that charged horribly, turning that thing off put juice in it in a hurry. I never had any luck getting any BAMF ROM to charge quickly, no matter the kernel I used. (I tend to use the same kernels with the same versions of android. Ziggy's for Froyo, dreamkernel for GB.) Both of those have proven to charge nicely, even if I'm wirelessly tethering the thing. I don't know what the big deal is with battery calibration and all that. I only had quirky battery charging right after I made the mistake of wiping my battery stats. Same thing happened with my dInc. I wouldn't wipe battery stats unless I had a VERY good reason, and swapping between my 1300mAh and 3500mAh battery all the time in my dInc wasn't nearly a big enough reason.
The phone was off when I put it on the charger Sunday night, and no battery left on Monday morning.
Is there a way to "undo" a bad battery calibration?
I am asssuming that when you flash a new kernel or a rom that that resets everything, At least it seems that way when I unrooted the phone.
I will probably try rooting again when I have a little time to mess around with it.

Just being rooted should have zero effect on battery charging. Next time you root, do a Nandroid backup before you flash anything (ROM, Radio, or Kernel). That's standard practice for pretty much anyone that regularly flashes.
I'd re-root, nandroid, then flash whatever ROM you want....Some of the older GB Sense kernels had a "slow charging" bug, which has since been fixed. Check out the Kernels post on the dev board, the newest kernel has fixed the slow charge bug.
Im a little fed up. Ive had the phone for over a year, and the batteries always been the worst, but lately its been even worse. I left the house at like 7:15am this morning and its 1:45 and the phone just died, and all ive done is text and have a 30 min phone call.
I hoping a couple of you can tell me what youve done to get some more life out of your battery. Ive been running CM7. Ive used Glitch kernel with it before, but didnt see any improvement at all, though i dont know what i was doing.
please help me.
When I was using CM7 my battery was terrible until I switched back to a froyo rom. I am running trigger right now and my battery lasts me all day unless I am constantly watching videos. I use my phone all day long though, from surfing the web to talking and texting and listening to my podcasts and it still lasts me all day.
Battery calibration app and an extra battery is my best advice. I bought a wall charger off ebay from hong kong for $1 it also came with 2 spare batteries that I keep charged at 100% and switch out often because I agree about battery life not being as good as one would like on GB.

HOW TO RECALIBRATE YOUR BATTERY (by heartagramm):
COMPLETE GUIDE!!!
You'll have to use the phone for about 1-4 days (although it varies depending on the phone and battery used; every phone is an individual). It runs out of battery. Yes. Let it run. Recharge. After 3-4 recharges the battery will "gain" it's performance back.
After 3-4 full charge/full drain -cycles, do the following:
1. Charge the battery up to fullest.
2. Keep it plugged in to charger, and reboot to recovery.
3. On the recovery, go advanced, wipe battery stats, scroll on to yes BUT Don't wipe them yet. When you're ready, quickly remove the battery cable and push to wipe the battery stats.
4. Reboot the phone, use normally. Let it run completely out of battery.
5. Charge the phone back to full. Turn off phone. Charge until it says 100% on the green bar and vibrates for full charge.
6. The Important Part. Remove the charge cable for 0-0.5 seconds and plug it back in instantly. Let it charge to 100% again. Do this 1-2 times again, so you've done this 2-3 times total.
7. Reboot to recovery, wipe the battery stats again as on the step 3.
8. After wiping the battery stats, plug the charger back in the phone.
9. Reboot to ROM. Keep the cable plugged in. Keep it plugged in for about 30 mins to 2 hrs. Unplug. Should say 100%, mine did for about 40 mins after it depleted onto 99%.
And this is the way you should really gain great battery performance.

every time i charge my phone to full, the battery level reads that i'm at 91%, never at 100%. i deleted battery stats in recovery but the problem persists. i got an htc inspire and running absolution 3.7. how do i fix this?
my current absolution rom is a backup. i had 3 different roms before restoring this rom. should i have done a full wipe besfore restoring the rom? could this be the problem why my battery doenst give a good read?
How did you charged before wiping stats?
The best way:
- power off your phone completely
- charge battery
- wait till battery-LED is green (maybe just wait a little bit longer)
- start into recovery
- wipe battery stats

the 3 Roms you used before were Absolution, too, but different versions? So a full wipe is recommended, but shouldn't be essential.
In case of trying fully different Roms, a full wipe / factory reset is neccessary, also if you are using a "xyz"-Rom before and want to roll back to a backup of Absolution-Rom.
also your battery might have started to get weaker. if you use the phone a lot and make lots of charging cycles battery life gets shorter. also if you plug it for a minute or for an hour its considered a charging cycle. so if you have a lot, then you might have to get a new one

Its not a strange problem man, google it, it happens all the time, just keep charging it properly and it will be fine. I wouldnt worry about it, some phones go to 100% and drop like a stone till 90% then go normal, its just the way your phone translates it

yeah my battery today started off at 97& after full charge. then when i checked on it 6 hours later, it reads like it started at 100%.. this is very strange.
Kind of similar problem with me, Even after keeping my htc one v in charging for 4 hrs, the battery still reaches 85 ~ 90% always, and then it charges at snail's speed.
If i restart my phone at this point, the battery indicator shows 100% !
I am confused, since if it was a genuine trickle charge, the battery percentage should remain same even after reboot.
