Hi folks,
My SGS2 is driving me craaaaazy ... i'm on KE2 with root and arabic patch from madmack ... i discharged the battery a couple of times on this firmware to recalibrate it and even tried a hard reset but nothing seems working at all.
everything seems normal except the battery and voice calls percentage which i only spoke for like 15 mins and percentage all the way up to 74%. With only one hour on the battery, it goes from 90% to 86% on idle. I need help guys.
PS: sorry for my bad english.
From what I understand you are saying that after an hour of using battery power, a 15min phone calls is showing up as 74% battery usage.
This seems completely normal to me...
I think quite a few people are failing to grasp the concept of percentages.
..or is it me?
all i meant was that my phone battery doesn't hold on for a hole day and this is a proof >>

we can't help you because that's normal. i get the same sort of performance.
it's not a defect, it's a feature.
I wont say thats normal at all, i own an galaxy s 2 myself and i cant get more then 4 hours of usage from full battery(no auto sync and data on only when i need it). If you had a ****ty phone before galaxy that doesn't mean 4 hours of usage is normal.
Here's what we should be expecting...
I hope mine gets these results. Only 2 charges for me so far.
Copy an dpaste in browser as I couldn't post link due to low post count.

thanks for replies ... i reflashed the KE2 ROM again at a full charge ... did a hard reset, changed wallpaper to black, wifi ,BT and data is off. i will test and report back the result.
Hi all,
I am using ics standard firmware 6.1.A.2.45 with advanced stock kernel build 14 but it seems my phone is not deep sleeping, I lost about 20% battery over night, see screenshot attached, I had power saver mode on with everything switched off. Shouldn't phone idle % be higher?
Anyone have any suggestions please on how to fix this?
Thanks for any help.

Hey turn off internet connection if on or just check there might be apps that are running in the background.
Just go to Settings-->Apps-->Running
There u can see all the apps that are running and close all the unnecessary applications.
I hope this might work for you.
Theres no such problem wid my XPS.
5-8% drainage of battery overnight is normal.
My XPS ate about 3-5% battery in 7hrs last night.
Not a problem with mine.. Did a clean install, wiped everything and then did a hard reset.. Mine drains 1% mostly overnight, and rarely 2%..
Try a factory reset, or re-flash wiping everything..:good:
P.S : it's offline during those 6-7 hours
Some says that disabling "com.sonyericsson.android.wakeup" can help saving little bit of battery. I just frozen it and will see if there is any improvement. I have this issue too in my XS, it never enter sleep mode even with everything off (connectivity, screen, sync, etc). Markus on Sony forum said that they're working on it...

yesterday at 7:00 AM my phone was at 98% Battery
Only Flight mod and Power saver mod was enabled,
Every thing else was disabled
Then i left home without taking my phone ( It was on my bed i forgot to take)
Later i returned home at 2:00 PM
And found my phone very hot.
Now the battery is at 14%
It says 88% of Battery was used for Android OS
Then i turned off my phone
After some time heat went off...
Then i turned on and plugged in for Charging
It Took 4 hours to charge 24% :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
Can anyone please explain whats happening ???
It sounds like something is keeping the cpu running, which is why android is is so high and explain the battery loss and heat. You could go into your settings and look at the running apps in applications manager, and see if anything is out of the ordinary.

Could be something like mediascanner scanning the sdcard if you hve one. GSAM and BBS are good apps to check wakelocks. The latter is better but it's a pay for app.

1. what rom are you using? 2. slow charging may be due to cable. change the cable and check the result. :good:
Remove new installed apps, check cable, restart your phone...

Is there any way to find out which app was using my Battery ?

I have the exact same problem but mine hasn't gone away. I can charge it all night and in the morning it will be at like 40%.
It only started after I flashed that leaked firmware. I have since rooted it and frozen out all the bloatware to no avail.
I'd love to hear any suggestions on how to solve this?

Well theres 2 things...
1) Like Laura, drain so excessive that when charging it is slow
2) No drain, just slow charging
Different answers for both situations. Are you 1 or 2?

The best app IMHO is BetterBattery Stats. It's not free though, but it's a great asset. I have the widget on my home screen at all times. If you're not in a position to pay for an app, try GSAM, but BBS IS better. This will only be good until you pull the battery though so you need to ensure you check before rebooting. It will show you which apps are keeping the phone awake etc.

Yep. Best way to get good stats is to charge the phone full, unplug it and go about your business. Try not to reboot. At the end of the day lets see those stats and what we can find out.
Here is the list of apps on my Phone...
I don't have many apps...
I have Flashed my phone just a week ago..

So, this is all the apps that i pretty much use now...

that's 11% in 6 hours, that's really good! Even though it looks in deep sleep, phones connect to signal, use their antenna, sync with servers etc several times a day without telling you. If your phone only lost 11% every 6 hours, you could go for more than 50 hours before charging, that's alright I would say.

Indentify what cause the drain.
Get Wakelock Detector and see if there an app that cause wakelocks.
I get about 1% per hour drain standby with my XP, stock ROM and kernel,, with the help of STAMINA mode, Greenify, Disable Service, snd 98screenstate_script, but you need root for those except STAMINA mode, and init.d support for the script.

Look at battery stats what take most, and as I said get Wakelock Detector to see what wake it up or prevent deep sleep.
Also get CPU Spy Plus and see how much time CPU Spy Plus spend in each frequency.

I am sure you have installed software too during this month.
Could be the battery, but my guess it's software. I' know software that drain's battery fast, nto like yours but 50 percent for the night.
The stock without any tweaks takes about 2% per hour standby with wifi on and facebook/viber.yahoo messanger in background and STAMINA on, but U don't have official STAMINA does it?
Its possible for me to get 1% battery drain over the night. I use greenify and Honami Moonwalker rom. Sometimes it does not drain at all. I turn on airplane mode and stamina mode also.

Hi All,
this night my Alpha was in offline mode and discharged from 100% -->0 within 8hours. even the alarm could not ring. (see attachments).
Then I charged in the morning to 50% and while I was riding the train battery percentage rose to 54% without charging (you can see it on the screenshots).
Any idea what happened?
I called customer care and they send me to the local service partner BUT they would not just change the battery...
They would First they do not have ANY spare part at their location, they do not have replacement phones and they would always flash a new firmware to the deveice and wait at least for 24h to check discharging behavior.
RIght now this is my first samsung phone (probably my last one). The battery has production cost for less than 4€ I would bet (probably even cheaper). You buy a phone for 600€ (about 750$) and I would NOT call this customer care.
Now I wait for my EB-KG850BWEGWW charge station and see if this problem is due to the battery on my own.
Anyone else same experiences or suggestions?
Best,

Android System indicates you have a terrible wake lock. I can't help you diagnose, but I can tell you there's probably nothing physically wrong with your battery. It's your software setup that's causing terrible drain for some reason.

Define wakelocks. Some app was misbehaving badly.
Restart the phone. Remove apps which aren't important for you and check the status for few hrs. Install BBS to analyze wakelocks. search for BBS (BetterBatteryStats) in XDA/google and check what is sucking the battery.
Alright, just installed BBS.
Hope to find an app draining my battery but do not expect to find anything. Let's see.
Just deactivated juicedefender and now I use it without any power saving apps.
At the same time I will try asap to check with a new battery.
Anyway. Is there anyone having a clue why energy levels were raising without charging?
Thank you already and I keep you updated.

No not really since you have a differential of 2hours and 36minutes between screen on time and awake. That's the drain/wakelock.
(it of course could be normal if you have used a music player a couple of hours with the screen off or some sports activity recording app in the background).

So any clue if this could be the reason or can I give you more details to analyze what's going on with the device.

Reading news do not explain the drain. Then you would have equal amount of time for screen on and awake time.
Phone calls with the screen off however explain those minutes (45m of the differential 2h 36m ).
The rest needs to be found.
You need to share the detailed analysis from the BBS app regarding the wakelocks, screen on time etc. However this app can be abit hard for beginners to get a grip on. Hard to know where to look and how to interpret the info.
I therefore recommend the app GSam Battery Monitor instead. Just as good in presenting the data about battery statistics but in a much more easy and understandable way/UI.
Try it. Let it run for a full battery cycle, then take screen shots from the "main overview screen". Then go to the "app screen", take a new screenshot of this app overview screen. Then go to the view-settings in top right corner, choose to show "time awake" - take screenshot, then "times woken up" take a screenshot and last "kernel wakelock" and take a screenshot.

Was that over 5 hours screen on time with ,Alpha ?
A great result if it is !
Android is scaning/indexing files after first boot. After 2-3 days will get back to normal. You could try cpuspy to see if your alpha go in deep sleep mode. If not, try to reboot and check again after 10 minutes in cpuspy. A reboot always resolve the deep sleep problem ( a program is keepi ng your processor running in a loop). You should now about that even without cpuspy if your alpha is hot without any reason. In normal stand by mode your back should be cool, not warm. Just restart your phone, it takes 15 seconds
Hello everybdy,
I'm an Alpha user now for two weeks.
Let's begin with routine checks.
Typically ı'll suggest to full charge/diacharge your phone for the first 5-8 times. This will provide proper calibration and battety "training" for the phone. I do this with every phone I buy and was always able to see the difference.
Draining during night without any activity happened to me aswell. To times.
I checked immediately the active applications in the task bar. Not that one from the settings. You should see there e.g. internet browser or nothing. For my part which was unusual for me is the youtube. After I stopped it everything went to normal.
I'ts annoying as some web pages start youtube in the background without you realize and keeps there.
I can use the phone up to 1.5 days without prpblems
Hope this helps
