I'm liking flagship v4 and wondered if I could run, for instance, TW's 1.2ghz kernel without messing up my phone?
Thanks.
i guess you could but why theres better kernals that have less power drian an oc to 1.4ghz use the DoW14 kernel 1.1 its much much better an ya flags rom is nice but for performance an speed i would try out Bionix-v 1.2.1 unless ur dead set on flagship

Thanks for the reply....been watching the voodoo sound kernels for some time...tried the dragon 3.2 a few weeks back and could not live with battery drain. Seems that this is still an issue for dow14, even without OC....I'm gonna wait a little longer.
i ran bionix 1.2.1 for a few days but found it not as stable as 1.2, in fact I've found that the TW roms have given me issues since nero v5, which was a perfect rom.
Gonna such with flagship for now...
I had the same experiance. I like flagship theming better too. I tried dow and dead horse on flagship and went with deadhorse OC. Better battery and seemed more stable...but thats just me.

If by the TW 1.2ghz kernel you mean Core, then it will only work with Android 2.1 ROMs and not 2.2 ROMs.
EDT 2.2.1 + DOW1.4fow = awesome.
Dragon kernel 3.1.2 gave me best performance although i can only go up to 1280mhz
57FPS on neocore
weird thing is it's performance beats other dragon kernel versions even @ 1360mhz
48FPS only necore
have yet to try DOW kernels extensively ... tried it once for a short while but i experienced some instabilities and i guess i'm not familiar yet with setCPU
First off, this should have been asked (or searched) in the thread for the ROM, or kernel you're asking about. If you really had to make a new thread, this is absolutely the wrong section to post it in. It clutters the dev section, and gives the mods more unnecessary work. Theres a Q&A section for a reason. Not bashing, just for future reference.
That being said, Most of the recent 2.2 Vibrant kernels should work fine on most recent 2.2 ROMs. If you're worried, just make sure you have a flashable version of whatever kernel you're currently using on your internal SD to flash if anything goes wrong. That could save you from having to use Odin if anything were to happen.
Also, someone mentioned troubles with SetCPU. I personally prefer using init.d scrips to overclock. Most ROMs support them now. I don't need any extra apps/processes running, and it's always very smooth for me. That's just personal preference though.

Depends on what features you want. Totally Worthless T2 is the best kernel for my needs.
Depends what your looking for. I'm running Dow 14 HD and its awesome. OC to 1.4 ( without a problem) , voodoo color and sound. BLN.

Imm Runiinq Dhee samee...I Set Cpu To 1.4 too Andd It works perfect
s0niqu3s, its almost all stock so stable and good battery..
but, it adds voodoo (EXT4) and voodoo sound (get the app in the market) and you will be blown away at how better video/music sound on the Vibrant.
I really do not think any kernel could be better right now. OC'ing is (a) a drain on battery and (b) not worth it in my opinion, my phone is plenty snappy
Well, am using the dragon v5 with no problem, yet with some bugs and checking constantly on the forums, all I see on the post is the same issues on every other kernel posts: battery, lag, wake of death, headphone, mic failure , tests , etc , but if you all read the threads its all the same, great job from all devellopers here, but I guess what makes a rom or kernel useless is how some users flash, and complain on these forums , is there a better rom out there than bionix, for our vibrants?

What about the best kernel for Bionic-v 1.3.1? I really want to enhance the Sound and the video to my vibrant. I dont care for battery waste as I have like 5 extras and 3 of them are 3500mhz.
All I need is a great Customized Kernel that will make my phone much faster and enhance at top.
I installed the Tigers Blood Kernel and love it but is giving me bugs like I cant install or un-installed apps and SD card bugs to connect to PC
Any suggestions will be great
whats better ford, dodge, chevy? different strokes for different folks.test them out and see what you like the best. keep a note of battery life and data speeds. stuff like that. or im wrong and have no clue what i'm spewing out. ladder more true then the former.
Recently, many kernels released for vibrant. Find best suit for yr ROM. Right now i use Dead Horse Kernel ULF OC_UV for Bionix-v 1.3.1. Smooth, fast, no problem, Quad +/- 2200 and battery more than 2d at normal daily.

Try the Overstock kernel if you havent already. OCs to 1.2 and has Voodoo... You could add darkys tweak as well as the fugu tweak too if you want to kick it up another notch.
Vibrant, Bionix-v 1.3.1, Overstock 2.2 Voodoo...
Well I have tried several times with different kernels from different people, and none of the kernels that allow for overclocking seem to run. I dont know if its an issue with the roms not being compatible with the kernel. I am also running the RED clockwork recovery. I would just like some help to possibly get a kernel that allows overclocking to actually work.
Well the overclocking kernels are all for eclair android. There are no overclocking kernels for froyo roms and eclair kernels will not work with froyo roms.

tbh, overclock is overrated anyway....give me underclocked, optimized kernels, and im happy
I figured it had to do with the roms, are there any decent eclair roms available?

stick with froyo, eclair is old
Overclocking will give you big numbers you can show off to all your friends, but does very little in terms of improving real-world performance.

While I largely agree, I will say it depends on your hardware. With this phone, overclocking will do little good, as the hardware has more than enough power for most anything already. On the Eris though, overclocking from the factory stock 528MHz to 710MHz made quite a significant and very noticeable boost in performance. That, however, was because the CPU was underpowered and struggled to do the most basic tasks, obviously any speed boost would be noticeable. That's not the case on the Fascinate.

ok thanks for the info....came from the eris so I figured that overclocking would make a slight noticeable difference.
I'm running R-9 V5 rom and android 2.3.4 stock kernel and 1.77.30 radio. I was getting random reboots on the 1.97.00R radio with the stock kernel, kholk, and faux123. I'm just wondering what is the perfect combo to eliminate random reboots? It's extremely annoying when every time I pull my phone out to use, it's restarting. What I would prefer is Kholk kernel with the 1.21Ghz overclock and R-9 V5 rom, as well as the 1.97.00R radio and no random reboots. Why does this occur? 1.97.00R was supposed to fix random reboots... With the none ext 4 kernels I get fully working wifi on all faux123 and kholk, however ext kernels lose wifi in an error. However the none ext 4 kernels have random reboots with perfect working wifi. So I'm looking for a rom/ kernel/ radio with an overclock preferably kholk and a rom/ kernel that allows for working wifi and no random reboots. I get random reboots even while the phone in underclocked. I usually run the max at 608Mhz. Your guy's help would be highly appreciated!!
Thanks Buds!
When it comes to modifying my phone, I am very reserve and I usually like things to develop until they are fully functional and integrated, i.e. roms, kernels, etc.
So before I move on to making major changes I like to find a stable setup that works well for me.
Currently I am running CM7, prebeta #3 with faux's kernel at 1.1Ghz
My honest opinion is that faux's kernels are really sweet and even at a 1.1Ghz OC it is awesome. There is a 1.3Ghz out right now by the way but with a 1.1Ghz OC my quadrant scores while running CM7 are averaging out at around 3600-3800.
If you, dont want this you should try the recently popular HomeBase ROMS which are stock 2.3.4. with blur (i think stock looks nice) and an integrated 1.3Ghz OC. That should run pretty smooth.
It really depends on what you like. CM7 runs nice if you don't care about/use the camera.
Alien #4 (with or without theme) is really fast and looks pretty good with the theme applied (deblurs a lot)
The Darkside 1.3 looks pretty with its red/black theme and has a pretty good boot animation. It is also pretty quick and deblured.
Haven't used Aura but it's supposed to be a really fast semi-stock ROM.
CherryPi is also supposed to be fast but I don't like the theme.
Starwars ROM is really nice if you are a big star wars fan.
Faux123's kernels are the most stable that I've seen, even the new 1.3GHz kernel. Kholk's suffer from random reboots when wifi is enabled (only with some people, me and you for example).
Also, with your phone underclocked to 608, you are missing out on just how quick this phone can be. If you undervolt, then leaving the phone at 1GHz kind of balances out the battery drain.
Cm7 is awesome, but the battery life is so-so. Fauxs 1.3 kernel is fast but battery is even worse.
Stock is my favorite with faux 1.1 kernel undervolted. I wish there was a 1.0 kernel that supported uv.
Alien is never updated and suffers from too many force close and reboots for me.
I'm not too big on the themes from some of the other roms, and since they are all repackaged stock roms with the same tweaks and either faux or stock kernel your often better off with stock and the theme of your choice imo.

I'm running HomeBase with the faux 1.3ghz kernel. It rocks.
later
I run everything stock and it works great. Next question?
Im running Alien #4 with the theme, Faux 1.3 kernel undervolted, i get the less random reboots with this mix.
I disabled the apps i dont use much from the autostart using (Optimize Tool Box from android market), so it boots a lot faster if it ever random reboots.
My vote goes to Aura
From a post I just did on the Develop Aura thread:
Diviance: Thanks very much for a great ROM (#8 Blur). My phone, for the first time, performs like I want it to. My bluetooth sync with my Ford truck was never complete before. I noticed this am it was even uploading the text messages to the truck! And I can have both the phone and the Slacker work via bluetooth (after gb had to be one or the other). After GB I also had some issues with one person on text messaging where I didn't get the phone number so I couldn't respond. That went away also. In both cases reloading 2.3.4 did nothing to fix it only the Aura ROM.
(I am on the #8 Blur which comes bundled with Faux's kernel I believe)

So have you noticed anything else cool about optimize tool box? sounds pretty cool.
I have never experienced random reboots.
I am currently on CM7 / Fauxx123 kernel
For a stable build and performance, flash Alien #4 / Fauxx123 Kernel 1.3Mhz

it also notifies me when an installed app can be moved to the sd card, i think this should be considered a must have. and its free

Hi all,
My mother just bought a Vibrant and moved from a feature phone. As it goes, I will be flashing it from it's eclair condition to Froyo but since I haven't run Froyo in so long (I'm CM7 fan), I don't know which Froyo ROM to use.
Any help is appreciated here. I need the best possible ROM+Kernel for battery. I don't really care about other features at the moment. Only requirement is to last as long as possible on a charge.
I'd suggest bi winning v3 by Dan brutal. I know he's moved on, but the rom is rock solid for me. I use the bullet kernel that came with the rom but alot of people used the Bali kernel that was under volted.
bionix v2
bionix v2 and bali 1.8.8 uv . .
ZenDroid w/ included Bali kernel or DMZ kernel. ZenDroid is already very much stripped down and has newer tweaks than most other froyo roms. Very efficient. Maybe you should order another one of those 1800mah batteries for her too.

Project v an bali x oc 1.2 conservative undervolt 50 across board

Basically Bali 1.8.8uv or Bali X 1.2 (if you want to UV further) kernel coupled with any of the recently updated Froyo Roms. I'd suggest Toxic8 if you really like to theme your phone (though nothing beats MIUI for theming) and Zendroid if you want a stripped down, Touchwiz-less experience.
I have to agree with @GreggoryD502 on this one. I have put Winning on all 3 of my family phones and it ran great in terms of battery. Except for CM7 and Neo 16 that I am running now, I have never had any better battery life than I did with that rom. It isn't the latest and greatest but it is a solid performer. I flashed other 2.2 roms and ended up coming back to it several times until Cyanogen was released and stable.
so i have always run overclock kernels w/out any problems. bali at 1.2, bullet at 1.42, bullet at 1.48, and i cant remember the name, but another kernel at 1.5. all without any problems.
I want to try to clock higher. I have tried the app Tegrak, while using bullet 1.48, but it wont let me clock past 1.48.
Is the only solution to try to build a kernel myself, are there any Vibrant kernels that clock faster then 1.5, or is there an app that will let me set my clock speed above the preset?
thanks
Glitch kernel for MIUI and CM7 allows clocking up to 1.7ghz. It's rarely stable, but if your CPU is capable, use the ML or LL versions and see how far you can go.
You'll have to be using MIUI or CM7, obviously.

the thing is that im on always on 2.2 or 2.2.1
Yeah was gonna suggest glitch+cm7or miui but if you are on 2.2...
I think cmenard might have made a 1.54ghz bullet(only worked on some vibrants, needed good cpu)
can't remember if it was GB bullet or 2.2 though. google it yourself....
If you're not willing to move to MIUI or CM7, there's not much you can do. Regardless, 1.5ghz and above is rarely stable anyways. Only thing that has gotten me past 1.3ghz stable is the Glitch kernel with the medium leak CPU tweaks.
It is possible to build 1.7ghz frequencies to a froyo kernel(the kernel dev just have to know where to add it), but chances are few phones would be able to handle it, and battery life would seriously decrease at those frequencies. My opinion is 1.7ghz on a vibrant isn't worth it.
