[Q] volume buttons... - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I accidently installed darkys rom in my vibrant. But funny thing is is that this phone looks EXACTLY like a i9000 except that its original firmware is the vibrants (I can post pics if people want to see this). Anyways my problem is that upon installing darkys rom, my volume buttons seem to have switched around, meaning up is down and down is up. I was wondering if this is an easy fix? Cause if so, any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks you!

[Bell Vibrant] Button & Network issues [HELP!]

Hey guys, I just spent most of last night installing CM7 on my Bell Vibrant (i9000m) and I successfully got it running and everything after reading what seemed to be millions of posts on the matter..
Anyway, now that I have it running I have some issues.
1. My home button doesn't work. At all. Except for when I use it to enter recovery mode. It isn't a physical problem, it has worked up to this point, and I use it all the time to enter recovery mode etc.
Someone said flashing a voodoo kernel would fix it, so I went and got the latest one and installed it and nothing happened. Apparently it installed, but I've never even used a voodoo kernel and I have no idea what it did. Oh yeah, and this is my first time flashing a custom rom on my vibrant .. I have previous experience with my old htc hero though.
2. Network issues.
I'm really from B.C. Canada, but I'm in phoenix, AZ for vacation right now. I was bored at night (I go to bed at like 3 am) and I decided to finally put CM7 on it. Now I only get any network access (roaming) when I'm right beside a mall, when previously on stock rom I had network access (still roaming) everywhere.
Btw, I installed radio KB1 initially, then tried KA7 and both of them give nearly no results.
3. My volume up/down buttons are inverted. I don't really care about that though.
Thats about it.. any help would be appreciated. I really want my home button fixed so I can finally go on without having to restart if something f***s up, its really annoying.
The network issue isn't that big of a deal, I'm expecting it to work when I get home.
Thanks !
bumpy bump
I'm pretty sure that the Bell Vibrant is more like the European i9000 than the American Vibrant (T-959). The buttons are mapped differently and our roms will cause the problems you're talking about.
Yup. Just looked at some pictures of a Bell Vibrant to make sure. You need to be in the i9000 section.

[Q]I can't see anything in CwM on 2.3.3 vibrant

DISCLAIMER: I am NOT blaming or trolling on any devs here! You guys are doing an awesome job!
Ok, now down to business...
It seems that when I'm running any 2.3.3 ROM on my Vibrant (I'm currently running Simply Galaxy 3.0 RC3.1) There are 2 bugs that always rear their ugly heads.
The first one (which is mostly just annoying) is that there is always this freaky pixelated color screen that comes on after the Vibrant screen, and always before the boot animation. Everything else works fine after that.
The second one (which is the reason I'm posting this thread) is because Clockwork Mod recovery is invisible. What I mean is, CwM is fully functional, but it will always be hidden either behind a Vibrant screen or behind the screen mentioned above in the first bug. I know CwM is running when the soft key backlights are all on, and also because the power button will reboot the phone, since "reboot device now" is the first item selected in CwM, and the volume up/down buttons will also work.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. I am new to XDA, and since I don't have 10 posts yet I can't post this question in any Android Dev forums, so that's why I posted it here.
I do believe that is a known issue.

Did you press home, I think that makes the screen go black. Maybe not your issue, but it was an obvious thing to make certain.

[Q] Constant screen freezes..help anyone??

Lately my Fascinate's been freezing up like crazy. I'll be doing something, and all of a sudden the screens stops (music if any is playing does to) and I am forced to pull the battery out. I thought it could be the kernel, so I flashed another but no dice. Then I thought the rom could've been the problem, I switched, but still the same problem. Am I the only one experiencing something like this?? Any advice?
I love my phone but things like this that really irritate me..Thanks to anyone in advance!!
EDIT: I ODIN'd back to DIO1 in hopes that it would surely help but STILL..same problem!!
I desperately need some help, After boot up, it seems like I can olny do so much before it freezes again and it's unbearable..fml
If I were you, after a few different odin flashes to no avail... I would get it totally stock with the ed01 update and use the one year warranty for a shiny new one. Cause it sounds like a bigger problem.

I must admit, i have tinkered with the actual phone (installed new lcd/digitizer bc it broke) I did this a couple weeks ago, but does anyone have any idea what would cause a problem like this?
bump anyone?

[Q] LOST FRONT BUTTONS ON MY VIBRANT After Flashing JFD!! HELP!!

Hello Everybody
Need help here!
I have a i9000 body with a vibrant board in the inside. So i some sort of unique phone. lol.
I opened up a thread seeking for help on which firmware to flash etc.. here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1105155
Some background info on my flashing odyssey.
After the repair the front buttons worked but the home button didn't (since is a i9000 body). So i started to play around with firmware for the i9000 2.3, 2.2, darkkys 10.1 etc... I have over 3GB of firmware that i flashed in attempt to get the home button working and the Front facing camera. The home button never worked neither the camera and the headset also stopped working while on i9000 firmware. (Also the back and menu front buttons worked fine during all of this)
So, i decided to flash back to JFD to bring the phone back to what i first had. And guess what, none of the front buttons worked after this last flash.
I've tried more than 10 vibrant firmwares, kernels etc... in order to get the front buttons working. and had no luck. ( i guess that flashing from darkyy's 10.1 to JFD messed something real bad)
explodingboy70 and ali1276 have been helping out. ali1276; solved the issue of the headset and the volumen buttons not working on 2.3 firmware (you can check on the link to the other Thread) and explodingboy70 tried to fix the button issue with no success whatsoever. Thank you guys for your help!!
I know i should of waited instead of going ahead and flashing the world into my phone........ i know.....
Please , Please. I know there should be a way around this and i know XDA has some of the most skillful people in the Android world. And i know i will find help. Plus i will donate to whoever helps me out.
If it will help, I have the vibrant from which the board was pulled out and being a IT manager myself i can play with the hardware if needed.
PLEASE HELP
Have you tried remapping the buttons? Lol obvious but just asking

yea i've tried it.
Why i dont get is why they dont come back when i flash another rom. the question is at what level did JFD took out functionality and how to fix/wipe or something.
Basically, i am plenty sure the problem is in the kernel also the keys will not usually work (none of them) if flashing a vibrant rom and vibrant kernel. Why? In the melfastouchkey.kl there are the mappings for the buttons; however, they are usually meant and formatted for the vibrant, unless sometimes the dev does not want to change everything in it in an i9000 port (usually in gb because those are the main i9000 ports going right now.) However, the buttons would still have the correct mapping due to kernel. Because of this, the back and menu buttons may work but not the home button because the kernel often overrides that of which is found in the melfastouchley.kl. Hope you got all that

Im a bit lost on your answer. I flashed plenty of roms for the i9000 on the phone. Before flashing the vibrant rom. Which never took out functionality of the front buttons. The phone itself had the stock vibrant rom, and the buttons worked (not the home button) but the rest worked fine. I flashed i9000 roms for the GT-i9000 and the buttons continued to work (the home button never worked). Until i flashed a back to a vibrant rom.... After that i tried to flash i9000 roms and had no luck with the buttons afterwards..
What i dont get is why flashing a i9000 rom never made the home button work while the front buttons still worked. And then why the same rom that the phone had, when flashed took out the front buttons..
Please explain your solution.
Im fairly new to the android world. THANKS A LOT AGAIN for your time

Touch Keys - Randomly Activating Themselves

Hello Everyone, a few months ago my touch buttons started to randomly active on there own. Now at first it wasn't a major problem, happen once in a great while but now it seems to happen every time I want to do anything important.
I've searched the forums and found some solutions to other phones(i9000 etc.) but nothing pertaining to the Fascinate. And I'm afraid if I try those solutions it'll jack my phone up.
I currently have changed my ROM to the MIUI rom but that didn't cause the keys to stop. And before that rom I usually used Cyanogen roms.
Any help would be appreciated. Tried re-flashing stock, and anything anyone else has done. Not sure if there is a special key code I could use like the i9000 model.

I believe its a known issue with any GB roms. I mentioned this in JT's CM7 thread and someone said they had the same problem on MIUI.
I would just sit tight untill it is fixed. What I have been doing in the meantime is just turning the screen off and back on
