Lately my Fascinate's been freezing up like crazy. I'll be doing something, and all of a sudden the screens stops (music if any is playing does to) and I am forced to pull the battery out. I thought it could be the kernel, so I flashed another but no dice. Then I thought the rom could've been the problem, I switched, but still the same problem. Am I the only one experiencing something like this?? Any advice?
I love my phone but things like this that really irritate me..Thanks to anyone in advance!!
EDIT: I ODIN'd back to DIO1 in hopes that it would surely help but STILL..same problem!!
I desperately need some help, After boot up, it seems like I can olny do so much before it freezes again and it's unbearable..fml
If I were you, after a few different odin flashes to no avail... I would get it totally stock with the ed01 update and use the one year warranty for a shiny new one. Cause it sounds like a bigger problem.

I must admit, i have tinkered with the actual phone (installed new lcd/digitizer bc it broke) I did this a couple weeks ago, but does anyone have any idea what would cause a problem like this?
bump anyone?

Hi, has anyone experienced the screen going nuts?
From time to time this happens. There seems to be an empty spot where it doesnt detect any input. For example, if I'm swyping a word, the line just breaks and I end up with gibberish.
My capacitive back button doesn't seem to work as well. I have to sort of hold it before it registers any input.
The problem started only after i flashed the latest version of CM7.
The problem is not a permanent one cause it comes and goes. This makes using the phone a pain in the ass sometimes.
Has anyone experienced this? Is there a way for me to fix it?
I've reflashed the ROM countless times to no avail.
Please help.
Which version of CM7 are you using?
Did you format system partition before installing?
I'm running on CM7 V7.0.3. I've flashed the previous 2 versions and it was the same. And all those times I formatted everything before i flashed the new rom.
Do you think it's the rom or it's a hardware problem? The digitizer going bad perhaps? I haven't dropped the phone before and the problem is intermittent. but it's such a pain.
can anyone help me out?

Same thing happened to me. Took my phone to an AT&T store and they replaced it since I was still in my 1 year warranty. It was the digitizer doing out in my case. Happened after I tried cm7 too. Even unrooting didnt fix.

I was surfing, ended up on a photo gallery on break. Dolphin locked up and got an FC. Clicked on close, but nothing happened. Then I heard the start up music, even though the phone didn't reboot.
That was it, nothing worked after that pulled the battery and it wouldn't reboot, stuck at the galaxy s 2 logo. Pulled battery again, nothing. And again, nothing.
Booted into recovery and restored my rom. Everything is fine now.
Very strange.
Someone had a similar crash. He was in his car, and the phone did something similar to what you described while he was browsing. He said he had his phone plugged in to a car charger and that he thought that was the cause. Don't recall if he ever posted that he got it recovered or not.

That was me.
I did get a 30 day new phone replacement. Although mine wouldn't even flash a rom. Still was stuck on kernel splash screen boot loop. Even after a dozen odin flashes to stock with a root and non root stock odin package and that one click floating around. I was stumped. Only thing I can figure. Was running the latest unNamed but I highly doubt that was the cause as I feel he and all the others that contributed are amazing devs. (sorry I just had to through a thank you to the XDA devs in here)
Although I did find a similar case probably. Trying to get information to see if it is the same. Although chargers or whatever the cause never has been a problem with my captivate, maybe the sgs2 is pickier.

Occasionally I would lose touch screen input on my phone when flashing etc however that was back in June/July time.
The only fix I could find at the time was to SBF back to 1.8.3.
Last night playing with the new CM9 ROM it happened again, my fault, responsibility and nothing to do with the ROM.
Now I have 6 months of backed up ROM's and PDS's and nothing is working for me. Tried Fruitcakes and no go. Fresh install, no go, PDS's restored for like for like ROM's and no change.
Anybody got any ideas before I start SBF'ing ?
Sbf'ed 2.3.4 Pudding and stock 1.8.3 and so far no joy.
Will keep playing. Convinced there is not a hardware issue but have an Atrix with a dead motherboard that I keep looking at and wondering about.
is it possible that's a PDS related issue? I saw people reflashing PDS to fix that.
Tried 5 different PDS's and no joy.
SBF'ing hasn't worked so far. Been playing with this on and off all day and about done.
Will have a think and return tomorrow. I have 2 batteries that need charging.
i have a real pds fix.img pm me and ill send ya the instructions and the file
and if it doesnt work then its deffinetly hardware related worth a shot cause my backed uo pds img did
not work when my pds borked but this pdsfix.img did
I have tried the Google pdsfix no good here neither.
Defo hardware
I fixed mine for time being just knowing where on the phone issue is

As said have an Atrix with a fried motherboard.
Took the motherboard from the one that lost touch and swapped it with the one that was fried and all good.
Odd thing is that the phone had been working well for 6 months without an issue not of my making through messing around with ROM's etc.
Thanks for the offers of help, appreciated.
Hey whats up everyone. Ok long story short, I got the evo3d the first day it came out. Also rooted it with the first solution and never installed a custom rom for a while. Now a while back I started experiencing problems like when i touch a number key it either presses another, or sometimes enters it twice. It basically is making the phone impossible to use. I then figured maybe it had something to do with the original rom and the phone being rooted. So I then installed ViperRom as so many people have good things to say about it. The rom worked good for about a week or so and then the problem came back with the buttons just having a mind of its own. Now sometimes it will work with no issues for hours on end, and sometimes it just goes beserk from the get go. If anyone has experienced this and can please suggest something as Im ready to just call it in lost and have them send me a new one but if I can fix it I would much prefer that as I plan on just having it flashed to boost anyways since I've never used the 4g since the day ive gotten the phone.
Thanks in advance
Frankie
I had this problem with another phone and I reinstalled my keyboard, because that's what was causing it.

It sounds like you've got issues with your digitizer. The only sure fix is to get a replacement.
response
Do you think maybe just trying to flash it back to stock would resolve the issue or possibly trying another rom? It happens so sporadic and only started after I rooted the phone. Also, to the poster above how do you reinstall your keyboard?

You can try to return to stock/unrooted and see if you can repeat the issue. And I didn't mean reinstall the keyboard, the digitizer is part of the touch screen assembly, so if you can repeat the problem for a sprint rep, they may give you a new/replacement phone.
Flashing back to stock, flipping kernels etc... Didn't fix mine. I had to get 2 of these 3d's until the 3rd finally worked. It's the digitizer.

Hey guys,
I've tried searching everything I can think of, but have had no results and I'm hoping someone can help me out.
I recently broke the digitizer in my S4, and got it exchanged at Geek Squad since I have insurance through them. (Which is a joke by the way)
Now, since I've got the new S4, I've been having problems out of it. It's really just down to two major issues.
1. When I lock the screen and unlock it again, 80% of the time it freezes up and I can't unlock it or anything. The touchscreen becomes completely unresponsive.
2. My Wifi keeps kicking itself off, regardless of what network I'm on. I also have gone into the settings and have made it always on, so it shouldn't be doing that at all.
I thought that it might just be a bad OS or something, so I re flashed the stock ROM for it, and had the same problem. So then, I rooted and flashed it using a custom ROM, and STILL have the same problems.
Could it just be in the hardware? Apparently this isn't as common of an issue as I was hoping.

Hi, I've never heard of those problems before, but if the 100% stock wipe factory image isn't working out for you I am pretty sure it is a hardware issue. If this is a software issue, your phone would have been totally fine with a odin restore. (but then again..im a newbie soo yeah )

+1 on the hardware issue. Was your replacement phone from Geek Squad actually a new phone or was it reconditioned? Either way I would reflash the Stock OS, return it to Best Buy and try another replacement. It should not be locking up at the get-go upon receiving a replacement.
Edit: I went thru 6 replacement S4's with VZW before I got a genuine working phone. If you paid for the replacement insurance you are entitled to get a phone that "works" to your satisfaction.
Yeah, I figured that was most likely my only option. I was just hoping I didn't have to deal with Geek Squad anymore haha.
Thanks guys. I appreciate it.

NP, good luck :good:
They're called Geeks for a reason.........
Edit: I would hold off rooting or flashing any custom Rom's until you get a stable replacement running on Stock. Takes less time to switch out another replacement.
Does your screen become unresponsive only when your WiFi is on?
