[Q] App2SD + problem - Optimus One, P500, V General

I has some problem after I install some guy's Android 2.2.1 rom.
A first, that was perfect when i finish install the rom.
And then, I put back all app to internal rom and EXT4.
After that, it still has 150MB in internal rom and 800MB in EXT4.
But after that day, I try to connect with USB and disconnect.
My phone reboot, and most app was gone.(maybe install in EXT4.)
And I found a file ".noa2sd" in /data.
I tried to del it and reboot, all app were came back.
But the internal rom changed to 50mB.
Can someone tell me why?

Maybe it was moved back to the SD card? Or it's possible that ROM failed to automount the ext partition. Not sure, since I don't use Apps2SD.

TROUBLESHOOTING (For sdcard)

Here's a simple guide/solution if anyone who have problems with their microsdcard
1.Blank Sdcard notification
If u have partition on ur sdcard and u switch from 2.1 to 2.2, u need to reformat the card. Because 2.2 does not need the 2nd partition.
When u had partition your sdcard on 2.1 rom and u get blank notification, please do a reboot. it will eliminate the meassge.
ps:i do recommend using ext2 as 2nd partition and use link2sd as u can manually select the apps, dalvik-cache files and the libs files
2.Unrecognised, Failed to read sdcard, damage sdcard and etc
Required a laptop/computer assistance
Please try this method before you try anything else. usually this will solve all the problem you facing
1.Go to my computer and right click on your sdcard icon
2.Select properties and then click on the Tools tab
3.Click on error checking/check now
4.Remember to tick on the automatic fix and then click start
this will required 10 to 20 minute, depending on the size of your sdcard.
3.Last resort
Format your sdcard using your x10 or pc.
if both method cant be using, re-partition your sdcard using MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition 6.0. set it as primary and using FAT32
Sdcard reading and writing speed slow?
For non-rooted and rooted user
Mount your sdcard from your pc and use this Defraggler and defrag your sdcard. credit to 28spawn
For rooted user only
go to this thread increase SD card performance(new Flashable zips), credit to KInG GaME
PS:This troubleshooting method does not 100% will work but since it works for me most of the time, so i wanted to share out. Hope I wont offend anyone.
Mod, if this thread is useless, please delete it and sorry for the trouble.
Thanks for the thread. Tried it on my sd card because it shows blank sd card after I partitioned it into fat32 and ext3 for miui cobrato rom but it didn't work. Nice share anyway.
opps.. thanks for replying n reminding me. i forget to put tis. after u partition your card, did u reboot? btw, there no nd to do partition for 2.2 onwards

Nope, I only put in the partitioned sd card into the phone and started it. I partitioned using parted magic. But for MIUI roms, it's needed to partition into ext3 for the ap2sd+ to work.
same problem here. i just can't seem to get the sd card to work after flashing custom 2.2 or 2.3 roms. but the sd card work just fine on any custom 2.1 roms.
i'm currently on ThGo v1.5.5e. this rom works great.
I'm using EWjet 2.3.4x. I plugged the sdcard into my pc, used mini partition tool to reduce the size of fat32 partition and making 800mb of unallocated space at the end of disk. Then I created a new partition (primary ext3) of 800mb, applied and removed the sdcard from pc.
When I plug it on x10 it says that my sdcard is empty.
I already tried to reboot twice and it keeping saying that is empty.
Link2SD says that I don't have a second partition, but I created a 800mb ext3 partition.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

sorry for late reply. i tot this thread is dead. thinking wanna ask mod to delete it
well, i tried formating it to fat32 through windows and it worked. but what boggles me is that only some 2.3 roms can detect my sd card. thgo and ewjet works just fine. any miui roms and others doesn't seem to find the sd card. it just says sd card not present or unmounted sd card.
well, i had never tried using any miui rom b4 but from what i read, its best after flashing the miui rom, it it recommended to format the sdcard

CF-root & DT a2sd on stock rom

Yesterday I helped my gf to root her phone. Because she would like to keep her stock ROM and not wanting to use stock ROM, I used CF-Root (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1158197) to root the phone.
After that, I install DT A2SD (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715940) and run it on stock rom. I moved dalvik cache and data to sd card. After rebooting, the phone slows down alot. Media scanning took few minutes and the phone performs laggy. So, I thought moving dalvik cache to sd card is not a good idea, i moved it back to internal. The result is still the same. I moved back the data too to internal. And still, laggy and media scanning took very long.
Oh, I partitioned the sd card with CWM. 1gb for partition
Can anyone guide me?
TL; DR ver.
1) Gf wants to keep stock ROM and move data to SD card since apps are taking up spaces
2) So, CF-rooted it and installed dt a2sd, moved dalvik n data to sd.
3) Phone performance quite slow and took long time for sd card finish scanning.
4) Moved back dalvik n data to internal, doesnt help at all..
DXKPB 2.3.4
There's a Tweak manager included from Cf-root, but I dont know whether I should meddle with it.
Is there anyway to remove the lag?
the class rating of your sd card is too low ie too slow.
what is the speed of the sdcard? higher class means higher read/write speed eg class 6 is faster than class 4
btw install and use this to completely disable media scanning when boot and when unmount device from pc. reopen the app when u wanna trigger media scan. that app helps me alot by making boot much, much faster because media scanning is disable
Her sd card class : 4
Sometimes running some apps or playing music, the loading time is long. =\
Funny that Im running on cm7 kang + dt a2sd with sd card class only 2 and I dont experience similar problem.
Hmmm anything could be possible then e.g. too many apps attempting to startup together during bootup. One can only tell by using an app like Autostarts.
I have tried using an sd-ext partition when i was on the rfs file system and things weren't slow to make me frustrated but certainly no complaints appreciating the speed increase after changing the file system to ext4 overall.
I did a quick search and found this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1344542
Saw your link there to convert rfs file sys to ext4. But before that, how do I check my stock rom is rfs type? Just wanna take precaution not to brick the phone..
if its stock, its sure is rfs.

i used ext4manager from ketut in his CF Root thread. Since you are on CF Root kernel, it will show you whether you are on rfs or ext4. this is actually a pointless exercise cos as anonymous pointed out, it is almost confirmed for sure that you are on rfs. Anyway this ext4manager allow you to do an one click conversion to ext4 file system too. i think that should interest you even more.
ok, so i have installed ketut's modified app and tried that but it seems like ext4 manager is showing no ext4 partitions found. Then I tried CF's original ext4 manager app. This time, it shows no ext4 part found but the "convert rfs to ext4" is clickable. after clicking it, it rebooted into CWM and failed to convert it. Everything happened too fast on CWM screen. I saw "installation aborted".
edit: it also shows "CF kernel not found"
edit 2: I reinstalled ketut's app. and this time it works. Successfully converted to ext4. But it does not improve the performance. Still very slow and laggy when running apps.
why dont you install autostarts and expand event called after startup to see how many apps are jostling to startup?

well because I dont experience such similar problem before rooting and installing dt a2sd. If there are 20 apps jostling to start up without problem before, I wonder what's the prob that caused the lag and slow prob after root and a2sd since they are the same 20 apps earlier
Disabled some apps. Prob still persists.
I think sd partition via CWM is buggy. Faced similar prob. I'm gonna try format the sd card and repartition it via Minitool
ok for me i did my partition not via CWM. I am going to hazard a guess and say that you created an ext3 sd-ext partition in CWM. As far as i know, CWM makes ext3 partitions.
try using mini tools and inform us of your progress.
Okay. So I partitioned 1st as FAT32 and 2nd as ext4. Both also Primary. Now ended up bootlooping. -.- gah. dont know what's wrong with it.
edit: wth.. The phone auto switch back on even I off it via CWM.

If it doesn't work , try partitioning using CWM .
For that power off in CWM , it's bugged

I already partitioned that at first. I think it's not compatible and makes things slow?
Hi! guys i decided to do an ext 4 with mini tools and when i hit apply it shut s down my LT and started to do the partitioning, when it was done my F:\ disappeared now i m getting dreaded code 10 error in my device manager and the worst part was when i inserted the sd into the ph it could'nt read the card luckily i could get CWM to reformat and partition as it was a new 16gig. I had to reinstall my rom again and had it sent via BT to the phone so i could flash and i had to do it twice as the rom i was using had a flash over update. Right now i m still figuring how to get over the code 10, tried disabling, uninstalling, update software drivers u name it. Right now i m waiting for someone to sent me an adaptor could be it is corrupted as well. sigh!!
If your sdcard is like this , use Gparted to rewrite the partition table

[Q] Newbie's problem with sd card partitioning

First of all I want to say hello
I've got some problems with partitioning sd card.
I'm owner of U20i, 8 GB ADATA class 10 card and I've got MiniCM7Pro v21 installed on my phone (through cwm v3.2.0.0-r5). Rom is working correctly.
I wanted to have more space for apps and more ram. I followed this tut:
tinyurl: l2kpno (I can't paste link because I'm new.)
Everything seems to be good but after reboot phone report card as not formatted. So I tried to partition card through cwm - this same effect. When I plug card into reader I can copy files etc. also I checked card surface - no read errors.
Am I doing something wrong Please help me.
Hi
I had the same problem with this rom, cant make it work.
But seems that titoms found a solution.
Check it here.
Hope this helps.
Thx for reply.
After deleting swap and resizing ext to free space phone recognize card and ext also works. But there is one problem: I wanted swap.
If it is problem only with this rom maybe I should try another one, original CM7 for example?
U r welcome.
Sure, there's a lot of roms for u to try. U should pick the one that fits ur needs.
I'm not an expert, but, why do u need swap?
I want to have more ram, for games.
EDIT:
Because installing original cm is quite complicated thing I decided to install GinTonic.SE by slade87.
So I did system, cache and data format; full wipe; cache wipe; dalvik cache wipe; battery stats wipe then I installed modules for gintonic and at the end gintonic.
After reboot phone freeze at Sony Ericsson text. Every time. Why? What should I do now?
EDIT2:
OK. I got back to stock se rom by flashing phone with seus. Then I rooted, installed cwm and made that 3 partitions on sdcard (fat32, ext2, linux-swap). After that I wiped all things (except sdcard and sd-ext), rebooted and installed gintonic. After reboot gintonic started but all time ADW is giving errors about force-closing and card is reported as blank. I installed modules but it didn't do anything. So this is not only with MiniCM7 (swap) problem.
Can I even have a swap partition? And why GinTonic is giving ADW errors (even without sdcard plugged into the phone)?
Ok.
I have GinTonic in my device. I also had that problem with partitions in this rom. After many attempts, I decided to create de partitions with Linux gparted (before i was using minitool partition magic). Then reflashed rom, and the problem was fixed. You should try that.
The only difference between me and u, is that I don't use a swap partition, just Fat32 and ext2. But for what I've read in the rom's thread many users have swap partition working with this rom.
For the adw problem, just install launcher pro and adw should start working. Why? I don't know XD. I installed go launcher and uninstalled the other 2 launchers.
Hope this helps.
Repartitioned through gparted and... "blank sd card".
I can't install launcher pro because adb is giving errors all time and I can't do anything.
I think I will **** this swap and go back to MiniCM.
Anyway thanks for answering.
U r welcome.
Roms unfortunately behave differently from one device to another.
If you want to save memory, I recommend using autokiller memory optimizer and autorun manager.

[Q]

Hello! I just rooted and installed last stable cm-7 ROM on my Legend using this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26735943&postcount=3
I thought all my problems were over but unfortunetley I was wrong.
After I downloaded & installed some apps, I noticed that my internal phone storage space is keeping gettig
low, even when I move every app to SDcard after installing it. Setting the sdcard as install location by
"adb shell" was not helpful either.
I guess some data is still saved on the internal storage, no matter if I moved it to sdcard.
I tried to create a partition on my SD so it can be used as internal storage, using this tutorial:
http://forum.hackmyandroid.com/showthread.php?t=220&page=1
But after I created the partition, my Legend couldn't identify my SD at all.
Lucky, somehow I managed to do something so my Legend could recognize my SD again, but I remained with
some less space on my SDcard. In other words, I couldn't delete the partition properly. Weird...
Is there any solution for this issue? I don't mind getting a new Micro-SD but how I cause my internal storage
stop getting full?
Any ideas?
OK, so I tried to create a partition with ROM Manger, but I after it's done and device is rebooted, Link2SD still says "2nd partition not found"....
So, I created the 2nd partition.. all setted up... even get a notification from Link2SD after an app is installed says "appname linked to SD"
BUT, still internal phone storage is getting low... I'm helpless.. any ideas please...

Android 4.3 storage issue

I installed various Android 4.3 ROMs (Carbon, SliemBean, PA, CM), and in all of them the internal and external storage did not work, but I saw that other people it does not happen anymore.
Is there a solution for this?
Is this a common problem for the 4.3 ROMs? Common among xt910 and xt912? Affecting both internal and external storage? Always? At random? Or any rhyme or reason?
Sent from my MB865 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I am also having issues with when I mount my phone as a USB storage device on my PC. The phone abruptly unmounts whenever I start file transfer. I am using PA 3.99 JB 4.3 rom. I will appreciate any help.
I also need help on this thread. Thank you all: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45217945#post45217945
"insufficient storage" after ROM flash
I just flashed android 4.3 ROM on my phone (phone is Infuse 4g, ROM is CM10.2 - 8/30/2013 - Butter)
after I have restored most of my apps w/ data using Titanium Backup, I don't have any storage left (according to notifications and phone storage information - couldn't update apps, and several apps couldn't be restored (restore process stopped at 94%)
when I go to settings > storage, there's message "Storage space is running out", Total space shown for internal storage is 1.28GB, Available is 9.44MB,
however, when I connect to computer it shows that I still have more then 9GB available on the internal storage.
when I was flashing ROM, I had to go back to ICS ROM, (I've lost root access ), then 4.2 Rom, then 4.3. it warned me that it will re-partition my storage, and I may lose any data - I agreed, as I had everything backed up. now I don't really have a storage
I assume it has something to do with partitioning, but I have no Idea how to fix it, or what is the best way go around it. please help.

I have a xt910 umts_spyder, internal sd card works on first boot
after the second boot the internal sd card stops working, external sd is working normal
happens with every 4.3 ROM, I already tried to reformat the internal Storage using a 4.3 ROM
Also note that they don't mount in /mnt anymore but in /storage as sdcard0 and sdcard1.

thanks. I didn't see that same problem was listed already. will try to wipe cache/dalvic cache as it is suggested there. will report results later
it's really weird that nobody mentioned this problem on the developer's forum.

I've been using PACman V06 for a week or so now, no problems whatsoever. ext SD and USB mounting have been flawless.
As for the internal storage issue, when using Stock rom slot, or using a completely unaltered phone, the stock rom recognizes the entire internal storage, as the only partitioning are the internal storage, and the stock system partition. When you create a new slot, that rom only recognizes the partition it was created on as valid storage. This is to prevent changes to other rom slots inadvertently, I believe.
I have this issue only with some apps, titanium backup, root explorer are able to identify my intetnal. Last night I connect my phone to pc and the pc sometimes see my internal and sometimes the pc doesnt recognizes my internal...I use Slimbean for a week now. Its been doing great exept this internal thing. External storage is well recognized

I have wiped cache/dalvic cache as it was suggested before... twice... didn't help at all
also, in the CWM Recovery I saw that sdcard0, sdcard1, datadata, system and data are "unmounted"... I have mounted them all, but it didn't make any difference either (I'm not sure if it would even make any difference, or these mount/unmount setting is only for CWM Recovery, because on the next boot into CWM everything but cache is unmounted again
any other idea on what can be done to fix it?
here's another update.
I've flashed different 4.3 ROM ([ROM][JellyBean][4.3][Official]BeanStalk Build 4.3.1015 - Updated 10/27/2013 - 4.3) - same issue. next day I went back to stock, and formatted everything I could (all but "android secure") - it didn't help either. Now I have Ginger Bread, with same partitioning problem - about 1.2 GB for system and apps, and about 13 GB for everything else (I removed microSD card for now.)
I used to have all apps in one spot, and they would take a lot more space then 1.2 GB... now I cannot restore all of them from backup (Titanium Backup Pro), as there is not enough space.
I don't remember having such partitioning before I flashed it with 4.3 ROM
any suggestion? have I missed anything?

here's good reply on this problem from another forum:
The Jack of Clubs said:
the infuse is older than the galaxy nexus so theres no datamedia or mtp. the 16gb storage is typically called the internal sdcard (nonremovable) because it acts more like an sdcard and doesnt share partition and storage with the data partition. the data partition is called internal storage, which on the infuse is about 2gb, though a little less on cm10.2 because the system partition was made bigger for newer versions of android. if your having low storage issues on the data partition, youre going to probably have to move some of your apps to the internal 16gb sdcard by going into settings > apps > on sd card and moving some of them over. i would not recommend moving over apps that sync or run in the background, but if you have a lot of games, those typically move fine. i would do that until you have atleast 400mb of the internal storage free. ive talked to araemo in irc how hard it would be to setup datamedia on the infuse to combine the internal sdcard and data partition. long story short, rather difficult and it would be too big a hit on performance.

to support this, here's my story: I have already went back to Froyo, and saw that internal storage is 1.8 GB, now I'm back to 4.3 ROM, and it's 1.26 again
looks like I always had it all partitioned, but I haven't noticed it until system partition got changed and internal storage became smaller.
it might not be true for all other phones, as they can be partitioned differently, but it's true for samsung infuse, and probably for a number of other samsung phones.
I have tried CM10.2 , PA RC-2 , slimbean , and even carbon 4.3 but none of these roms detect my internal storage

the problem also appears on CM11 (Android 4.4)
i need to wipe the /cache partition bevore every boot
then it mounts the storages, but if i don't wipe it it won't mount the internal storage
so the problem has to be on the /cache partition?
Hi,
I though this issue was happening only with the 4.3 based ROMs but that still happens even with CM 10.2 ROM.
That failure is not happening all the time, sometimes you just need to wait after the boot and there is the ext-sd again.
yes i think it happens very sporadically
I've got the sdcard unmounted issue with all android4.3 roms that i've tried. Device is XT910 and recovery was BMM 0.3.4. I will use the phone with safestrap 3.65 for a while to check if it's a rom or recovery thing.
