more specifically, getting the AIO Vibrant Toolkit to recognize my phone. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=954509)
I installed the vibrant drivers, and my computer recognizes my vibrant and I can mount it no problem, but when I open up the toolkit, it doesnt seem to be able to control the phone at all. (i have usb debugging on and I don't mount the phone when I'm trying to use the toolkit.)
I'm on windows 7 pro.
any ideas?
try it on xp 32 bit and see if it has the same problems

Whenever i try connecting my htc hero to my laptop via a cable, it just comes up with usb device not recognized, I have windows vista 32 bit, it used to work just fine on 1.5 rom, but I've got villainrom 5.5 and doesnt seem to work. I've tried on other computers aswell and i get the same result.
However I have tried connecting to the computer via fastboot and the device is recognized and installs "My HTC" driver.
Not entirely sure what to do. Any ideas?

HTC Hero trouble synchronizing with PC? Read this...
Its not that sync doesn't work, the usb just isnt recognised at all. But when in fastboot the phone is recognised via usb. But adb doesn't work, so i cant mount the sdcard via usb, i have to do it manually. I don't actually have a clue what is going on
So I just got an Atrix and im trying to root it, however when I plug it in, after setting USB Mode to None and turning on the USB Debug, ADB drivers fail to install. It shows up in my device manager with a ! ontop of the icon, and windows tells me it cant find a driver. I manually downloaded the drivers but that still didnt help, my phone isnt making a connection of the bridge. Ive wiped everything everything motorola related, reinstalled the drivers manually, reinstalled the ADB driver manually, rebooted about 10 times and now im absolutely stuck.
Has anyone run into this before? Im going to try plugging the phone into my work computer today, but id like to be able to get this working on my home computer. I followed the guide thats available out there that tells you to run the driver installer and delete all the files it shows, and that didnt help either. Im on Windows 7 but i also have a laptop with Ubuntu available, however i couldnt find a rooting guide for linux so im not sure if that will help.

which windows 7 32 or 64?
32 bit.
Tried on 2 different PC's, my home computer and my work computer. ADB driver fails to install on both. Both running windows 7 32bit.

I got it sorted. Installed the ADB driver manually (choosing the regular adb driver NOT the composite driver) and then ran super one click to start the ADB service. Then once the phone was connected, ran aroot and it worked.

glad you got it
The vibrant was running CM7 for a few hours until I noticed that it wouldn't charge via USB. It wouldn't charge from the wall outlet nor when plugged into a computer (the computer did recognize that it existed but didn't have the drivers for it).
I tried to recover it but then the process failed and it was stuck in boot menu. The vibrant only loads to the first splash screen. I can put it into download mode however ODIN doesn't recognize it. Nothing shows up. I've installed the Samsung Vibrant drivers and I've tried Kies Mini however Windows 7 32bit won't recognize the device. How can I install the stock ROM if Odin doesn't recognize it?
if u can get into dl mode but cant get pc to recognize ur phone use aio toolbox or get a usb jig that may help!!
or since your on CM7 ..try the Nexus S drivers and see if it recognizes it.
Could it be that maybe USB Debugging is turned off? At this point there is no way I can boot up to turn it on.
All of the drivers I install end up not being installed correctly, I get errors.

This. You can find them here.
CyanogenMod 7 for Vibrant Q&A
Just press Ctr+F and search ''Nexus S'' and you will find the instructions on how to get them.
I'm having some difficulty. I don't have a phone under my device drivers. All that's showing up is PCI Simple Communications Controller. I click on update driver and direct it to the SDK. Nothing happens.
Edit:
Downloaded the Intel ME: Management Engine Interface driver for the PCI problem. It seems to be fixed. Now my phone is showing up as unknown device. Working on it some more.
Hi everyone,
i'm having difficulties to connect my sgs2 to a pc.
i have tried it on 3 different machines (win7 64, win7 64, winxp 32) with the same problem:
I works fine when i first connect the phone in download mode. But as soon as i disconnect the cable i can't connect it again. Windows sais that it doesn't recognize the device and that's it. The device manager shows an "Unknown Device" under USB-Controller. And i am not even able to install drivers by manually pointing windows to a file.
as already sais, i have tried that on 3 different machines. I have tried installing driver via kies and via the driver file that is available here in the forums. i have also tried different usb ports.
Any ideas?
Goddchen
EDIT: Maybe this is an important information: the phone connects fine as long as it is running (can be found via adb, logcat is working, etc...) it only makes problem when in download mode...
I had exactly the same issue yesterday on my Windows 7 box. In the end I connected the phone in normal (not download) mode. Into device manager and uninstalled the drivers through there.
Then I uninstalled Kies and reconnected the phone, I allowed Windows to search windows update to find drivers (not that it did as it couldn't find any and reverted to the local ones. Then disconnect the phone, re-install Kies, run the install drivers from the tools menu, close Kies. Run up Odin and the connect the phone in Download mode, low and behold 2 minutes later after a lengthy installation process the phone was picked up.
I tried a number of things but for some reason this specific order seemed to sort it.
Hey,
thanks for you hints. But they didn't work for me.
I found the problem: believe it or not, it was THE CABLE. I went and got another cable and this one is working fine all the time. The other one doesn't... Very strange...
Okay, so I just updated my computer to Windows 8 and cant figure out how to connect my phone to the computer. I would like to access my interior and exterior card thru my computer but when I connect it with the usb nothing seems to happen. A small screen will pop up saying it is installing the device, but then it just finishes installing and still does not recognize the device is connected at all. Do I need to install any certain programs on my comp? I'm running ThunderBolt Rom v5 - 4.1.2..
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Try connecting it in Download mode and let it install drivers, then remove ur phone, reboot phone and retry connection.

Tried it. Still no luck. Its connected but only charges. Comp still doesn't recognize it. I think Samsung needs to release drivers that are compatible with Windows 8. Are there none out there as of yet?
When I was running the win8 preview once I plugged in my phone it installed the drivers make sure you're connected to the Internet. I can't say if the final win8 is the same. Another way to get the drivers would be the Android sdk package but that is a lot more in depth.... GL

I'm running the Windows 8 Enterprise Evaluation and am able to connect in both MTP and USB mode. Maybe you could also try installing the USB drivers from Samsung's website. They are for Windows 7, but should work for Win 8. You could probably try installing Kies as well, run it and connect the phone and see what happens. Also, try changing the connection mode if the rom supports it.
