[Q] - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I have an xperia x10, and I'm not able to use it because it says invalid sim... is there some way around this, like getting a prepaid sim? or some kind of unlocking process I can do? I really dont even need it activated (but It would be nice if I could use it as a prepaid phone), I would just like to be able to get some information I saved on the phone before it got turned off, and maybe use it for the wifi...
Thanx,
I'm clueless lol

Is this phone not locked because if it is. You have to unlocked first then then sim will be valid. I guess search for the new xda rom and flash and should be allright

You cant sim unlock by flashing it. If it's possible, sim unlocking will be simple as that !
To unlock, you need to either contact the original operator or use a 3rd party software

Thanx for answering but no its not unlocked. How would I unlock it with 3rd party software?

There are plenty of videos on YouTube that will help you out

got any idea on how?

It seems there is no way to unlock the phone for free. The easiest way should be to contact your provider. Or pay to someone to unlock it for you.

Cable unlock ie with the usb cable was available until 2 months ago. SE blocked the dongles and this method is not available anymore.
Now the only way is by codes. You can contact your provider for the codes or else PM me.
On my mini I have locked counter of codes so it not posible to unlock? Maybe it's a metode to reset the counter?
There is no way to reset the counter, the only way is a direct cable unlock( which is down at the moment) , no one know when it will be back again.

Hi guys,
My friend can send (Austria) me this phone but is sim locked.
Is there good way unlock the phone?
Docomo unlocks at point of purchase for a fee.
Check provider to see if they will also.
I'm buying from a friend, so it will be locked to O2, what's the easiest/cheapest way to have it unlocked?
Thanks.
O2 send the unlock code free of charge on request, it took 17 days for mine to arrive but no questions asked and it worked.
Ok, cool. Do you just call them up? Or pop in one of their shops?

Andy O2 models of the phone have a bootloader that's locked and it's not unlockable yet. You testing just using the phone or you considering to hack it?
At the end of it all, I'll be reviewing it. I did want to put ICS on it though. About 15 minutes ago I've seen the bootloader of this can't be unlocked though
Nothing that can be done?
**EDIT** Sorry, silly me, you've said not unlockable yet Thanks.

One thing you can do though is to use the flash tool to flash the latest update..73 has had positive results in improving battery
I think it is already .73
**EDIT** It's not, downloading the update now.

How can we do this?
I've been reading all over trying to figure it out!
Also, I'm guessing T-Mobile would try to charge for Unlocking the phone?

Believe so. When I boot up it has the T-Mobile logo.
I'm having real issues with lag and Xperia Activity Home force closing and the phone completely locking up, so I'm hoping I can stick .73 on it.

Xperia X10 unlock network

I have a huge problem. I wanted to unlock my SE XPERIA X10 phone, with OMNIUS. I also payed what they asked, so that amount should be enough to proceed the unlock.
BUT every time i get the error, that i have insufficient credits.I wrote to the support, but no answer...
At the end, my xperia x10 is asking a SIM Network unlock Pin code, when i insert another SIm card(other network)
What should i do?
Try to reformat your phone..

You may need to wait for a reply.
This is a network problem so I doubt that re-flashing would work.

Benifets of unlocking?

So I just unlocked my phone and was wondering the benifets. I know that I can use other networks like ATT Rogers Bell etc. But can someone explain in detail what I can do?

That is all you can do when you "unlock" your phone. You remove sim card based carrier restrictions. Once unlocked you can take an att phone and put in a tmobile sim and it might work! But that's all it can do.
You might be thinking of giving your phone "root access" if you want to do more. Once you root a phone you can remove preinstalled software or bloat. You can install custom roms. You can enable tethering when you might not of before... and so on.....
Rooting and unlocking are two different things. I hope this answers your question.

I figured you knew what rooting was because you have a decent amount of posts. I just wrote it so anyone uneducated would understand a lil better.

What true is it!!!

I just got another mega, this time I got a Att version. I spoke with a customer service rep. and got my unlocked code bcuz I purchased full price, I ask her about bloats ect ect. Ok this is what she told me, once I have unlocked my phone I have full control of my phone.. Hmmm really? I dont know if she knew what i was talking about.. then I ask about secure bootlock portion of the phone, she reply once your unlocked you could do what ever you want...:what:
I have the unlocked code, how would i unlock the darn thing? every phone is different ways to do it.
I want to know if its true or not that once unlocked we can do what ever including custom rom...

What I think you got from her was the network unlock code, all that does is allow you to move to another provider using the same phone.
So whats the difference between network unlock and phone unlock?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I527 using Tapatalk 4
Network unlock is as above ^, the bootlock you mentioned in your first post is there to stop you removing their software, it's not something that you can change with a code. You need to remove the boot lock before you can replace the os with a custom one. Before you attempt to do anything like this I advise reading up on it, you don't want to brick another phone. The information is easily found by using google search.
Roger that..lol yeap I dont want to do that again..

No boot unlock yet so no custom recovery or custom ROMs.
I am talking about the I527 btw!
