HI, im new here since I got my X10 today. Just want to ask a simple question... everyone here seems to have baseband .54 as the lastest but I just update my phone and I got BB .55 with build number 2.1.1.A.0.6; can I flash freex10 beta 4 even with BB .55 ? Or can I even root it ? I want JIT like hell !
Edit : Rooted with SuperOneClickv1.5.5-ShortFuse ! NIce !
Edit : freeX10 beta 4 INstalled and working with new baseband .55 !
just make a backup with xrecovery and try it out!! If you get into bootloop you can just get back into xrecovery by turning on phone and pressing back button constantly until you're back in it, and go back to your backup.
That looks like a new build number to me! Is that the latest or only for your location? Thanks...
the rom seem to boot but wont reboot by himself like its suppose to do.
No service / Wifi ..
Not sure whether this is the right thread but I'd like to know a little more about the baseband function itself. When SE issues new ROMs they are specific to the type of device ie x10a and x10i.
Pretty much all the custom ROMs I've come across are for the x10i. Does this make the device perform diffirently for their designed radio characteristics?
I know of one thread that gave instructions on reflashing x10i that have been previously flashed to x10a(and visa versa) but I cannot seem to get to the bottom of what differences there are.
Do x10a users loose 850MHz if they flash a x10i ROM?
Anone that can point me to the right thread if this is not much appreciated.

So does the most recent edit to your first post mean that you got your service and Wifi working? If so, did it sort itself out or did you have to manually input your APN settings? Just asking because I'm going to update to beta4 from 2.1 baseband .55.

I installed JIT v2 using xRecovery on my stock 2.1.1.A.0.6 firmware without issue. It's about 50% faster (not as fast as a 2.2 froyo based rom) than stock.

Yes its working now and yes it sort itself out
I actually had the same trouble. Now I have no wifi/network connection and no root access even when trying to use the XDAflasher. Any suggestions?

Glad to hear it. I installed Beta 4 and had an issue with it not being able to connect to 3G or H but I just changed the APN settings and I was good to go after that.

Hello i am new to the X10 forum, just got the handset second hand, but in super condition, the other day and i must say i is really growing on me!
Being a former, Htc hd2, galaxy tab, htc magic owner i have done allot of tweaking to my devices, so i started of with rooting my x10, putting on jit, deleting a ton of apps and so on, and i must say it is running great now with dual touch and all.
But i see there is a newer firmware out there and also a froyo rom (which i might wait on getting til everything works).
when i check about phone, i currently get this information:
Firmware version: 2.1 update 1
Baseband version: 2.0.46
Kernel version: 2.6.29 [email protected] #1
Build number: 2.0.A.0.504
so here comes the questions:
1) What is the newest version of 2.1 i should look for? ( a link would be great )
2) Will there be any major changes?, i looked abit around and it seemed that its mostly about battery life and so? i got about 32 hours last full circle with 17 procent left when i recharged it.
3) I am trying to use "setcpu" but i am not sure it is allways running since it dosent always show up in my app killer program, is there a way to make it run allways?
4) Another program i am using for the first time is APNdroid, i am not really sure about, and the question goes, does it do anything automaticly? or is it only a switch (the widget) for turning on or off all wireless radios? same thing with this as with "setcpu" i dont feel sure that it is running?
5) Is there a work around to get the camera working in froyo? using a third party app maybe? is there other disadvantages and is there a way to get the Sony E wallpapers loaded to the rom ? ( i actually really like the cosmetic chances of the X10s android)
I thank you for taking a bit of your time, i am glad to be back at xda with my phone, just had to sell my Nokia n8 since i just missed xda and all the fun too much

If you're referring to firmware, Then 2.1 Generic Firmware (2.1.A.0.435) is the latest as of now. You can update using the flashtool. (Try searching the forum for tutorial)

camera works great, video cam is not working ,we use cam illusion as a alternate
Thanks guys
I might go for froyo, just dosent look as good as SE custom blueish skin, but i guess the speed is worth it. would love those wallpapers though.
Is the froyo batterilife worse? ( i am thinking the SE rom is optimized for the device while froyo is not?)
Okaj now i really need some help did a really unwise thing, was not intentionaly just forgot to flash newest baseband radios
well i flashed froyo without the newest baseband and now it just keeps restarting and restarting with the freex10 logo, is there any way i can get the phone to talk with the computer so i can flash the newest baseband?
i allready tryed the factory restore, don tknow why i didnt think of backing up or something so foolished mistake.
if anyone can point me to some help i would be glad.
Download newest flashing software for x10
>>>HERE<<<
Also get yourself a copy of the newest FW with new baseband >>>HERE<<<
The second link should give you the required file to use with the new flash software.
Just put the files in Firmware folder of your Flash software install location and hunt out the simple instructions.
When you have done press the Root option on your flash software and install xrecovery and titanium backup.
Instructions for flashing to the 2.2 froyo beta 4 are in the development section but make sure you use xrecovery to wipe user data before you flash it.
I'm guessing thats why you semi-bricked your X10 last time.
Hey i got it up running by loading v3 of froyo, so now i can just flash the newest, and then v4 i hope so at least but thanks
oh i see so the flashing it will give me newest baseband super thanks

Hey guys,
I have looked all over the forum, and you all have different versions, im guessing im the only knob with a different version from the rest of you. haha
System Information
Model x10I
Firmware Version : 2.1-update1
BaseBand Version : 2.0.46
Kernal Version : 2.6.29 [email protected]#1
Build Number : 2.0.A.0.504
Now i've finaly got the currouge up to try and root this damn phone, but not having any luck following this guide?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=908791
That's not just root mate, that's an entire rom.
Look in the android development area, several ways to root. I used x10 flasher to root mine, fw vers 435.
Sent from my X10i
Yeah, I'm going through that now.
I got it to root in the end with a few of hitting the screen, and smashing buttons
Going through that step, then going to install the http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=947613 Rom,
and i should have everything i need from doing this complete rom install.
hopefully, plus its practice.
Hey baddie,
The new roms need you on the latest baseband, if you update your phone through PC companion first you will be able to update to any rom without any issues.

Hey sorry for the delay in replying was in bed at the time,
Beta 4 is the latest version of freex10 available, I think I remember seeing that you can use the flashtool to get the latest baseband as well, saves you having to go back to the stock 2.1 just to update.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=939812 this is by Steve Adams on how to get the new baseband.
In point 4 of his guide follow the link and it will take you to Zdzihu Beta 4.
Everything is in those 2 posts about what you will need to do, but just so you know the way I did it, I was on beta 3 at the time I was jumping back and forth between stock 2.1 and freex10 using xrecovery, I then updated through pc-companion to the latest firmware, then after downloading beta 4 updated the phone and i've been using beta4 every day since.
My only caution (well 2) is when using xrecovery to do the backups they take up quite a bit of space, so just be aware,
2nd and most important always, ALWAYS take a backup. Dump the contents of your memory card to a disk so just incase like me last week if your card is corrupted cause you had it connected to a device that lost power you can just restore it and carry on as if nothing had happened... yeah i didn't do that part caused me no end of headaches as I had lost some text messages that I meant to reply back to, oops.
Saying that, I still haven't taken a backup after gettting it back (smacks own hand)
Hello,
You are probably reading this because you are having an issue after installing zdzihu's freex10 - beta 4 ROM, that is, you have no network service (you can't make any calls).
I am opening this thread to address this issue, and open up discussion on how to fix this. I have been searching threads for a whole week now, and still have not been able to fix this issue.
I have tried EVERYTHING: opening an adb shell and issuing the "killall servicemanager" command. As well have tried different installation methods.
I have also tried manually entering Roger's APN (access point name), but it won't save....
Everything is working perfectly after the installation (wifi, camera, gps, apps all work) except I can't get any service.
Phone Specs:
Model Number: X10a
Firmware: 2.1-update1
Baseband Version: 2.0.46
Kernel: 2.6.29 ([email protected]#1)
Build Number: 2.0.A.0.504
Carrier: Rogers
UPDATE: I have fixed the problem and currently running freex10 beta 4 with full service. This is how i did it, very simple and easy actually. If you are having the No Service problem, simply do this:
Connect your X10 to SUES (Sony Ericsson Suit)
Repair your device by following the instructions on SEUS
Once you've done that, then go back and get your root access, xrecovery, and do exactly what it says to do on the freex10 thread.
After you've successfully updates to 2.2 again, everything should be working!
If you have any more questions, please ask me, because I have tried everything and finally found it. Good Luck.

Hey A.J,
I haven't used this phone in a while, I've switched to a SGSII. But I found a site that may be able to help you.
http://www.technipages.com/sony-ericsson-xperia-x10-hard-reset.html
Just read all of the instructions first, make sure you have all the software you need, and hopefully it will work for you!
EDIT: I recommend trying option 2 on that site I linked above. I remember that always worked for me whenever I needed to restore back to factory default.
Best of luck,
J

Just make sure you have PC Companion installed on your computer.
P.S. This will wipe everything on your phone (apps, contacts, everything), but not your SD card.
Oh, and another question. Why do you want to use freex10 anyways? isn't there something else better out there atm? give Cyanogen Mod a try if you can find a stable version!
Let me know if it works.
Sorry bro, didn't work out... the phone working great, but the no network or service same problem, I'm on the stock rom and everything stock but no service, ... and about free-x I don't mind any rom haha, I just wanna see service, thank you so much for your help and for your time, I don't wanna bother you in case you don't have time or some thing bro

Sorry, if somebody posted info about it but I couldn't find anything.
I've uploaded X10i_2.3.1-TripNRaVeR which is stable unfortunately I don't have any signal - both network nor wi-fi. Has anybody had similar problem? If yes, how to make it work? I'm not an IT geek unfortunately so I'm kind of stuck

Will be grateful for any tips!!!

you will need to read the thread that the rom came from. jerpelea's 2.3 rom is using a customised .52 baseband file - maybe it will work but i am unsure.
the original thread from tripnraver will tell you which bb you need.
Can't wait to check this rom. I've read the tripnaver threat and the outcome is rather disappointing - nothing's released but at least I've learned bit more. Thanks a lot, mrtim!
For anyone who's got same problem - I've ended up uploading 2.2.1 by tripnraver (kernel 2.6.29 [email protected] #1) to my mobile and it works perfectly fine - radio, wi-fi, market, etc. Haven't tried camera yet but I'm really pleased. So if anybody's having same problems as I had - try it!
Since I manually updated to ICS, my Xperia U makes me go crazy. It's absolutely non-responsive. Sometimes it takes 2 minutes to launch an app. Or clicking into a text field, I have to wait 10-20 seconds for the keyboard to appear. Other times it works just fine.
I couldn't figure out if it was one of the apps doing it. Their CPU usage seems to be normal.
I usually have around 30 MB of RAM available. Is that too little ?
Also, 3G doesn't work. I changed my APN, but I still can't connect. I'm on O2 UK, contract. Changed APN to mobile.o2.co.uk. Tried to set 'web' PW and login and tried with both empty.
Do a factory reset
Regards
Dr. Sanket
Regarding the No 3g Signal and all, which version of Firmware did you flash and do you have ST25i or ST25a ? If you flashed the wrong baseband, 3G wont work. You need to reflash baseband from a compatible ftf in case the first flash mismatched !
30mb RAM is quite low, highly unusual. Try a factory reset. And if nothing else, try a custom ROM. If you want something based on Stock Sony, try out my rom or TinyXperia Lite by Thunderising Otherwise, CM9 and MIUI threads are also there
Hope it helps
Cheers
Thread moved. Please post your questions here in Q&A in future.
Thanks
AvRS
I did a factory reset, but 3G still doesn't work.
I have 25i.
I'm not keen on the Sony ROM. I would love to install CM, but I can't unlock the bootloader, so I guess I'll have to cope with it.
Hm... Did you install 6.1.1.B.1.54 firmware ? This sounds like a case of Baseband mismatch. Flash the 6.1.1.C.1.0 f/w available here (DONT exclude Baseband) and see if your 3G gets fixed with that And check out FireDroid by Atis. Its a CM9 on Stock kernel. Although dev has stopped for now,it works fine I believe
Let me know if you need any help

Yes, I have the 6.1.1.B.1.54 version.

I tried all 3 options (WCDMA/GSM/both)
I set up the APN according to what I found on the official o2 uk site (they only mention the APN, which is mobile.o2.co.uk, I left the rest unset/default)
It was working fine before the update.
try ur sim on another phone for the 3g coz maybe ur sim has some problem
Hey dude just contact customer care i also did this and now it's working like charm

Yup, that's what I did. I went to o2 and ask them to take a look at it. It was the APN settings.
The speed issue kinda disappeared. It still gets laggy, but now I have "kill tasks" button, which instantly solves the lags.
Thanks for the replies.
The phone is still awfully slow and it's super annoying. This must be a software issue.
Sometimes just activating the keyboard takes 10 seconds.
