[Q] Broken external antenna connector.. How can I fix it? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I have the Xperia X10i and I shoved something in the external antenna connector on the back (the round gold thing, slightly to the right of the battery), and this boosted my signal but when I removed it I had no signal at all and still don't.
I formatted the phone and installed the T-Mobile UK firmware and sent it to T-Mobile (UK) for repair. They are now saying that it cannot be fixed under warranty. So does anybody know how or where I can get this fixed?
Thanks

your best hope may be found in here..... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=668132&highlight=x10

That won't help me. But thanks anyway

[Q] Purchased new X10i, 3G problems...

Sorry guys, noob here, couldn't find a thread that specifically talks about AT&T. Just purchased a X10i (I also have the AT&Ts X10a) and even though the phone downloads the AT&T settings from the net, there is no 3G. I guess I should have checked it, the retailer I bought from is MobileCityOnline and they have a little blurb about compatibility.
I must have missed that. Now my question is, would flashing the phone to a different ROM from here might help me? Long shot but I am just wondering before I send this phone back...
The X10i is lacking the correct bands to make it 3g capable on AT&T as such only connects via edge. I think you can connect to 3g on T-Mobile though.
X10a - 850/1900/2100/800
X10i - 900/1700/2100
1700/2100 needed for T-Mobile
850/1900 for AT&T
Hope this helps.

Thank you Sopdogg,
I am returning the phone, it will cost me restocking fees but good lesson for not doing my research properly.
So just to make sure, I need to check that the phone operates on HSDPA 1900 foor AT&T 3G, correct? I found another website that sells the X10a, I might just go with that.
The problem with my own AT&T (which I debranded/unlocked) that it shuts off when it gets hot, like about 48C usually. And anything can cause that, surfing the web, phone conversation, using the GPS, I am sick and tired of it. That is why I am trying to get a new one, maybe this one I have is faulty...
Why don't you get a new battery?

Or you could send it in to SE for repair/replacement. Buying a new phone is dumb if the phone is still under warranty.
The overheating on the x10 is from faulty chipset, theres a thread mentioning it around here, they will prolly replace it if u send it back to SE

he said he owned another x10a that messed up, so he bought an x10i.....
that is the one he is referring to
Thanks all, I sent the X10i and got a refund. This X10a I have is the original ATT release from 2010. Heat issues first started a few months after purchase with Google Nav, the phone would shut off while navigating and restart... I didn't put much thought into it back then but it became very annoying. And it was only doing it with Google Nav (thinking since the GPS was on) One day I realized it didn't crash at all because it was sitting in front of the air vent of the car with the AC running so I was then it was heat related. I updated to wolfbreak's rom, left stock kernel, but when it hits around 46C if I am trying to use 3G internet, nav or similar app, I know it will crash. If I get into my hot car after work and plug the phone to charge it, I know I can't use it because it will crash. It sucks. I didn't want to bother with ATT since I got rid of their bloated firmware. I didn't bother with Sony since I read on FB that it took months for people to get their phones back, and only to send it back. This is my only phone right now.
A new battery would resolve the issue? Thought about it but wasn't sure... wish there was a diagnostic software to tell me if the phone or the battery is the issue...
Wrong BB maybe... I flashed to BB67 and it seems to be working OK. One thing I noticed, when there is no signal, or I am at a place signal is very weak, in and out, it heats up pretty quick, and then crashes... It did the same with BB54 which was stock. So this problem might be ROM related, not sure...

I suffer from this same issue, one of the providers in my country recalled all the x10's and replaced them due to this. my provider did not.
Replacing the battery will not solve this "tried and tested"
Yes SE service center's may or may not replace the device.
They may even lie to you and say that you had tampered with the hardware of the device.
They may tell you that you have water damage and then show you a picture of the epoxy they put on the usb connector.
Send it back and be persistent.
Never assume it's, fixed test it first
I think the best deal is to find and buy another X10a. Then I might try to send this one in. See I have no phone if I send this one in...

Going to check them right away, thanks.
Is it at&t atrix? If so anovo (and subsequently all other repair centers) won't touch it claiming the hardware is different.
Same thing happened to me. Bought replacement screen on ebay and had to do it myself. Mototola was of no help either.

Atrocious reception

Hi everyone,
So, long story short, I recently got a galaxy s2 back from an overseas gray market reseller to get repaired under warranty. It had a USB issue where it didn't know when it was plugged in and when it wasn't.
So they replaced the USB board and sent it back. Unfortunately it now doesn't get reception unless I'm outside with no surrounding interference. Pain in the ass to say the least.
I've done extensive research and I've taken apart a few iPhones in my time, I'm going to take a stab at repairing it myself. Does anyone have any thoughts about what I might be looking for in the internals?
Thanks

Try an other rom maybe more stable

[Q] Help! Stock DNA 3G/4G Connection Issues

Browsed through the forums and didn't see this posted at all.... I have a stock Droid DNA (only phone I haven't bothered to root) and since I broke the glass on my phone (wound up having the LCD and digitizer replaced) my connection has been erratic. I have no signal from time to time (in areas where I usually had connectivity) and when I do connect I'm usually stuck on 3G.
I've had my SIM card swapped out twice and don't know what else to do. I haven't messed with any roms or kernels so I don't think that is an issue....
Does anyone have any advice or tips/tricks that I could try?
Thanks so much in advance, this is the best forum in terms of overall knowledge.
With out being the person who repaired the phone I'd guess they either knocked the antenna off or damaged it. If the phone was repaired by a authorized repair shop you can call Verizon and have your phone replaced through the warranty free of charge if with in the first year or you have the insurance on your account

Doogee Pixels DG350 [MTK6582] - Network signal loss

Hi all,
This is my first post here on xda, so spare on me.. plz not really sure if this is the correct place to post this but i've searched this forums and i haven't found the help i need.
So, straight to point. i bought this phone and in the first two weeks all seemed to work fine.
Lately i've experienced lots of network signal loss. I've rooted the phone and used "Mobileuncle MTK Tools" to change the preferred network bands as according to this youtube video v=aQY7SdNrbmA (sorry, can't post direct links).
Well, after that nothing happened so i'm really upset with this china made smartphone.
Has anyone experienced this kind of problems using this phone/chip ?
Any advices before sending this to repair (other country) would be very appreciated..
Thanks in advance,
Hugo Pataco
Are you sure that you've got the correct frequencies for your country?
Do not buy cheap Chinese mobile phone, the phone has a lot of quality issues.

iCrap Samsung HTC and other brand phones are mostly produced in China. If you have 300-400-500 $ to spare to pay the bill for the advertisement go on no one will stop you. And the fact that the phone is expensive doesn't mean that you wont find issues.
hugopataco man it is just that you have pulled the short straw.

Define service if you please. If you refer to she software updates i woud like to say that DOOGEE (as a brand i am using) have posted and released their certificates and firmware ( http://www.doogee.cc/en/gb/xiazai.asp ). Also the company has released into that new update fixing major problems like slow camera button and slightly unresponsive touch screen (i actualy have no problems with these). Ou and of course they have managed to establish connection with the buyer which is great because their next products will be what the users want.

Sure, but you need some skills to do it.
Can make photo's for you. Will open device to show you.
But I am going on holiday tomorrow, be back on 13 June.. you can order a galaxy s4 coax antenna cable for replacement, maybe you can patch old one up, but for $4 you have a new one.

Hi,
Have you bought the phone in EU? If so, you have a two year warranty.. send it back.
If not, well i think you're screw'ed
Like D3lta said before, i think the problem lies on the antena cable. If you're experienced you can always replace it. If not, just get a hammer and smash it it's the destiny that craps deserves.
i've learnt my lesson.. no more cheap china brand phones!
cheers.
