Does setcpu really help with battery? I dont oc or set profiles, i just set max at 1000 and min at 100.

Anyone?

I haven't looked at the newer kernels so I haven't been using it. The initial stock offerings were always buggy when I used SetCPU, especially when I used a screen-off profile to set the speeds pretty low. I did that on my old G1 and the battery life did increase quite a bit.
Not likely to really help with the battery if you are not over clocking. If you get system panel app you can view in real time the cpu use. You could cap the top end to 600 or 800 MHz, but with the new roms there really isn't much need 'cause the battery life is excellent now and has been for 2-3 months now.
I use it along side the superpower app to set a pretty strict sleep profile. Thinking about adding taskser too, but that might just be overkill.
I'm using SetCPU with multiple profiles set to drop cpu with screen off and with battery under 50%, also using JuiceDefender, and took this screen shot today:

I just rooted my Eris and I'm interested in overclocking. Can anyone recommend some good setcpu profiles for the Droid Eris?

The only other profile not shown is the same as "AC/full", called "USB/Full
I get about 2 days use out of a full charge, though I use the 1750 MaH battery over the (1300MaH) stock one.
Take a look at the attachment I made. Its simple, and it works well enough for me. I have the internet off a lot and am a heavy texter, so this fits.
For good battery life and good speed, try 710max 480min with 2 profiles. 480/245 when temp gets 40-43° and 480/245 when screen is off. Just my opinion. Works good for me.
Keep in mind the higher you overclock the more it will drain your battery. NEVER check set on boot till you have found a speed that is stable or your device could freeze on boot.

Hey. Love the theme/colors. What is that?
What're you guys stable at? I'm stable with:
480/825 normal
320/600 charging
320/600 screen off(may need to raise because it takes a few seconds for calls to come through?)
I can play things like NFS Shift smoothly, never really had any problem at 825.
Optimus V running Aosp 2.3.4
How do you run at 825 stable!? goddamn champion you are!
I run 320/787 MHz @ smartass Gov
Ima champ, but you a champion lol
I run at 480/806 mhz, but I get kernel panics once in a while...
lol i'm not too sure about that, i heard it has to do with the "batch" your cpu was made in. maybe I gotta good one. I might try 844.
Edit: I'm trying it now...about to run nfs and some quadrants to see if anything goes wrong.

2.3.3 stock with OC kernel .
I tried earlir 245/806 and got 1300+ quadrant score, but i moved back to 600 to save some battery.

That's my score on quadrant : Performance 245/768.
And that's with neocore:

I remain at 320/729 and its prrfectly stable for me.

So I put SuperVibe on last night and am absolutely loving it. I have CM7 on my Nook and overclocked it to 1.3 via the CM7 integrated settings. I want to do the same on my Vibrant. I was just wondering what the best clock would be to do. I'd like to keep a good battery life, and would like to see a nice little improvement performance wise.
Any suggestions?
I think supercm7vide comes with Neo kernel. With that kernel, the Max oc is 1.6.
One good app to use to oc and undervolt is voltagecontrol.

Yeah, it does go up to 1.6, though I read somewhere it's not recommended to go that high. Is using the CM7 settings sufficient? Or should I look into that app you mentioned? And is bumping it up 1.3ish fine?
Thanks
yeah, using cm settings will work, but you could find you're unstable even at 1.3, but using voltage control, you can try to stabilize it by undervolting.
Im running the latest cm7 nightly with neo 10 kernel at 1440 mhz btw i undervolted using voltage control and i cant say much 4 the battery cuz i only used it 4 a day but its stable 4 me

In an effort to find a free alternative to SetCPU, I tried out CPU Tuner and all seems fine and dandy except one thing; when attempting to adjust some CPU Profile settings, it wont allow me to set a high end CPU Speed limit. Does anyone else use this program or have this problem? Any help is appreciated!

I would stay with one of the popular cpu apps like Setcpu or Atuntu's app. also you wont be able to overclock or anything unless you have a certain kernal like Jokers 1.3

I do have jokers 1.3 jerbak. Just confused me why the program wouldn't allow me to set some speed levels on some profiles.

hmm yeah it sounds like it was just the way THAT app was designed lol I would look into the setcpu or antutu's cpu master apps for anything involving over and underclocking
I'm currently running Omega V43.2 on my phone and it works like a charm (No lag). Average battery life is 1 day and 2/3 hours on screen. I'm thinking that changing the stock kernel to Perseus may help improve my battery life but wonder if Perseus kernel really does the magic. Some advice is much needed thanks
+1
If you leave default settings, yeah.
If you optimize it even more for battery life, then heck yeah.
If you configure it incorrectly / aggressively for performance - you may actually reduce it.

thanks maybe i should try it out.
Battery life depends on your signal strength, data transfer, running apps and usage scenario.
For my usage, 3hours is pretty good, others have far more
