So I put SuperVibe on last night and am absolutely loving it. I have CM7 on my Nook and overclocked it to 1.3 via the CM7 integrated settings. I want to do the same on my Vibrant. I was just wondering what the best clock would be to do. I'd like to keep a good battery life, and would like to see a nice little improvement performance wise.
Any suggestions?
I think supercm7vide comes with Neo kernel. With that kernel, the Max oc is 1.6.
One good app to use to oc and undervolt is voltagecontrol.

Yeah, it does go up to 1.6, though I read somewhere it's not recommended to go that high. Is using the CM7 settings sufficient? Or should I look into that app you mentioned? And is bumping it up 1.3ish fine?
Thanks
yeah, using cm settings will work, but you could find you're unstable even at 1.3, but using voltage control, you can try to stabilize it by undervolting.
Im running the latest cm7 nightly with neo 10 kernel at 1440 mhz btw i undervolted using voltage control and i cant say much 4 the battery cuz i only used it 4 a day but its stable 4 me

Does setcpu really help with battery? I dont oc or set profiles, i just set max at 1000 and min at 100.

I haven't looked at the newer kernels so I haven't been using it. The initial stock offerings were always buggy when I used SetCPU, especially when I used a screen-off profile to set the speeds pretty low. I did that on my old G1 and the battery life did increase quite a bit.
Not likely to really help with the battery if you are not over clocking. If you get system panel app you can view in real time the cpu use. You could cap the top end to 600 or 800 MHz, but with the new roms there really isn't much need 'cause the battery life is excellent now and has been for 2-3 months now.
I use it along side the superpower app to set a pretty strict sleep profile. Thinking about adding taskser too, but that might just be overkill.
I'm using SetCPU with multiple profiles set to drop cpu with screen off and with battery under 50%, also using JuiceDefender, and took this screen shot today:

I always see low java scores with CF Bench, it's not a confusion over which score to look at.
I get super low Java scores using the cm kernel as well, lower then stock froyo atrix

Me as well. I wonder why...stock kernel must have something CM7 kernel doesn't.

In an effort to find a free alternative to SetCPU, I tried out CPU Tuner and all seems fine and dandy except one thing; when attempting to adjust some CPU Profile settings, it wont allow me to set a high end CPU Speed limit. Does anyone else use this program or have this problem? Any help is appreciated!

I would stay with one of the popular cpu apps like Setcpu or Atuntu's app. also you wont be able to overclock or anything unless you have a certain kernal like Jokers 1.3

I do have jokers 1.3 jerbak. Just confused me why the program wouldn't allow me to set some speed levels on some profiles.

hmm yeah it sounds like it was just the way THAT app was designed lol I would look into the setcpu or antutu's cpu master apps for anything involving over and underclocking
What is your QS result. Which Rom and Kernal are you on with settings?

Mine was 5133 but for some reason my CPU was clocked at 1000 instead of 1400 even though I had disabled the power saving etc.

Quadrant sucks for multi thread SOC's, better to use something like AnTuTu... There is an even better one.. but I forgot what it's called
So does the s3 only uses the full potential when required? Is that why mine is stuck at 1000mhz while it says maximum is 1400?

to save battery. it'll only go to its fullest when it really needs to - eg. a graphically intensive game etc.

What does your RAM consumption look like on the ROM that you guys are using? Mine is almost always 280 MB+ and as you guys know we only have 368/369 MB of RAM. What ROM or methods do you guys use to keep your RAM use at a minimum? CM7 had the best RAM conservation for me (165-220 on average) but I want to use a ROM that is 4.1+ while still being able to use apps that take up a lot of ram smoothly.
Edit; Added Screenshot

This is my point. When all my recent apps are cleared, and I've closed the running apps, Im always using 280MB+

I'm using slimrom and I tweaked the ram performance settings and I don't have quite such an issue.

Im not sure which ROM im using at the current moment. But its the only one thats has runwithout a single issue whatsoever for over 2 months. So its a keeper. But mines always about 50-90 mb free. I dont ever mess with the ram because thats when I do run into a problem. Mostly mine is taken up by Settings or other system controls. So if you could elaborate which settings you are using. I also notice that if my SD card gets full then the phone wil run slow as well.
