Kernel Panic - Overclock too high - Optimus One, P500, V General

Hey guys, I went retarded and tried to OC my phone up to 800mhz, rebooted it and it went into emergency mode. How do I go about reseting the clock?

Follow this to revert to stock.

Next time, remember not to click "set on reboot" when you are testing overclocking frequencies for your specific rom/phone only enable that when it is stable

I think he doesn't use the same rom... He posted that last year... And overclock depends on kernel, not rom

So I finally got my phone rooted. I want to download the set cpu for root. What would the ideal settings for me be? Im rooted with ryans lag fix, no custom roms or kernel. Thanks guys.

Well if you want to OC then you need a custom kernel... Other then that 200/1000 (W/O Custom Kernel) 200/1200 (W/ Custom Kernel)
And DONT click "Set On Boot"
if you don't care about the battery drain, I cranked mine up to 1000mhz constant or use conservative. powersave is incredibly slow.

Honestly Set CPU is not nessisary because the Galaxy S CPU scales automatically in other words if you need 1ghz it gives you it, but if you need 800mhz it only gives you that etc...That being said if you want to underclock the best speed it 800mhz and if you want to overclock you should go to 1200mhz (1.2ghz). To overclock you will need a custom kernel.

Why don't you want to set it on boot? Does this mean you have to reset when you boot?

Setcpu not letting me overclock?

I rooted my TB via the one click method offered by Captiankrtek and flashed Das Bamf 1.3.1. Then downloaded setcpu, autodetected speeds, tried disabling perflock (which it says was not needed) and then tried overclocking past 1024MHz, but alas, that is my highest setting. So I though maybe I need to flash the kernel. Went to Rom Manager and have tried every kernel under Mr. Bobrowitz's section. In the software information it clearly states the custom kernels but setCPU is still sticking to 1024. I tried uninstalling setCPU and reinstalling but nothing is working. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Unless you have a overclock kernal you won't be able to overclock. Sounds to me you have a stock kernal.

I am running the kernel that is included in the Das BAMF rom. setCPU shows the smartass setting and everything, but 1024 is as high as I can go
You do not have an overclocking kernel. You cannot overclock in this one. That is the problem. Look in development for an OC kernel.

I am a borderline retard I guess. I thought it came with his 1.2 kernel. Also, I tried to flash the 1.9 kernel via CWR last night but I see that link is gone today so maybe that was broken when I tried last night. Anywhootles, I just flashed the 1.2 Kernel by Adrynalyne and it works perfectly. Thanks for not bashing me for my stupidity.

great speeds
Bamf 1.3.1 does include his 1.2ghz oc kernel, "--New kernel: 1.2ghz, smartass (heavily tweaked this time) as default governor, GPU+ patch."

[Q] How to overclock stock ROM? SetCPU shows max as 600

I recently rooted my O1 using Ginger break. It rooted successfully. Now when I installed SetCPU (which I downloaded frm xda), it shows the maximum freq as 600MHz. I am on stock ROM and don't plan to change it before seeing the official Gingerbread release. I just want to know if it is possible to overclock on the stock ROM using SetCPU or any other tool.

Install a custom recovery and flash a custom kernel (such as franco). Do not ask how, covered in multiple places.
AFAIK the stock rom doesn't allow for overclocking.

As already said above in my post (and also in my signature), overclocking is a matter of kernel and not of ROM.

[Q] speedmod kernel problems

Hi all. I tried flashing speedmod kernel to my sgs2 that is running stock gingerbread rom. I wiped everything and flashed it through Odin. I went into settings/about phone and looked at the kernel version. It says that I have the speedmod kernel but when I try overclocking it the max cpu is 1200 MHz still.
Does speedmod kernel work with the stock rom?
Speedmod kernel doesn't allow overclocking and under volting, try another kernel like siyah's.

Did you really read the description first before you flash the kernel? I think not...
Please read the description before you flash

Speed mod kernel the best
Oh ya I thought I saw a post somewhere that said he was running at 1400 MHz with the speedmod kernel but I guess I must have been wrong. Thanks

Haha. Yea. Can't simply be rambling nothings to get my posts up.

Didn't want to create another speedmod thread for asking so I'm posting here.
On K3-12, using wanamlite v11.1 rom, when wifi is on, and i reboot, i would not be able to use the touchscreen at all. The pin number lockscreen will be there but i wouldn't be able to key anything. Only way to resolve this is by flashing another kernel.

[Q] Bootloop with Siyah 1.8.9

I Installed Siyah kernel on my S3 with german firmware ELL4. it all worked out good until i tried to set CPU to 1800Mhz. I definately did NOT check set on boot, nevertheless my s3 crashed and is now stuck in a bootloop.
Is there any possibility to remove the overclock without reflashing the whole firmware? thanks!

you can flash one of the steaks profiles from the thread (e.g. battery saver or something). it should reset all values. you can find the download, if I am not wrong, in the Siyah development or discussion thread.
tried it, unfortunately it did not help!

hm, try to flash a stock kernel (you can find it in perka's stash. Otherwise try to reflash the stock rom (dirty and with wipe).
aw im so stupid, stock kernel!
thanks mate, got it back!
Edit:Can i reinstall siyah after i installed stock or will it bootloop again?
ok so no bootloop on stock kernel, butif i flash siyah -> again bootloop.
so where is the cpu setting stored because it somehow still has to be there?
Edit: found it: /data/.siyah

Good to hear that it is working again . I guess the safest overclocking is to a max of 1.6ghz
