For all guys with reboots for Cyanogenmod's!!! - XPERIA X10 Android Development

First of all hello to everyone and sorry for my bad english.
I have been in the forums for a few weeks now and I must tell I love it.
Okay now on to the topic.
I have seen manny people with issue's like rebooting for the Cyanogenmod.
Now here's what I did to let it work for me after I fu**ed-up the first time.
1: Using Pc Companion I restored my S.E. firmware version.
2: I did a factory reset ( options, privacy, factory reset.)
3: I formatted my SD card
4: I downloaded the Cyanogenmod from Wolfbreak and installed it to my phone and guess no more Reboots.
I hope that this solves the problem of manny people with reboot errors.
And again sorry for my bad english.

You dont need to restore anything with pc companion, just wipe entire phone whit xRecovery before flash CM 6.1.3 v4 just as Wolfbreak says in CM ROM thread
1. Go to Xrecovery and make a Backup of your current ROM (optional but i suggest it)
2. make following in Xrecovery
- do a Factory Reset
- Wipe Cache Partition,
- Wipe Dalvik Cache
- Wipe Battery Stats
3. Install Custom Zip and choose CM6.1.3-V4.zip

This is for people who fu****-up like me the first time (like installing from the wrong kernel version) they tryed to install Cyanogenmod. Because I tryed everything but nothing seemed to work for me except this method.

Unfortunately, about 99% of the times when things go wrong, come not by reading the information, either by too much work, thrilling moment, etc..
1. Hardly something gone wrong if you follow the instructions;
2. Hardly we nned to make an installation from the PCC or SEUS.
With Rom`s currently available, the entire installation is done through the xRecovery. 99% of the times that you end up having multiple loops had to do with bad version of the baseband.

this is what i have been doing all along, still i get reboots.

ALSO try running fix permissions in either ROM manager or in xrecovery under advanced options, that is why this feature is in both apps....To help fix fc and reboot problems when switching ROMS!!! ( Not just CM rom's any rom!!! )
Will help, but won't fix all problems!!
Best regards,
Chris

flash this
2.1.A.435_GLOBAL-GGL_GENERIC_1232-9897.ftf
and this
X10i_58_baseband.ftf
with Flash tool, then get root and install xrecovery
now, in xrecovery, full wipe (chache, battery, etc), install cyanogen rom from wolfbreak and vuala!!! all you need is that

Can you guys do a simple test with a custom 2.2 / 2.3 ROM? Start root explorer, and kill it via a task manager.
Does your device reboot after a while?

[How-To] Get Cm7 by Jerpelea working without any known issues = no WLOD)

Cause of I read it from many users, that they get WLODs anymore on the newest Cm7 release from J and I haven't problems, I'll share a list with steps to install it, with that it worked for me perfectly.
If you have a working Recovery you can start directly with step 6
1. Flash with Flashtool a stock firmware
2. Boot up into stock
3. Activate usb debugging
4. Root it (connect phone with activated debugging mode and press in flashtoll root)
5. Install FreeXperiaRecovery (connect phone again, click "ask root permissions" and then click on xrecovery button)
6. Download the Cm7 rom form here, and the two files from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1073859
7. Copying all files needed for flashing the rom on your sdcard: Cm7 rom and the Screen off fix
8. Reboot and check if you can enter Recovery
9. If not, start at the point where you install it via Flashtool
10. If yes, take out the battery and wait ~15-30 sec.
11. Now put your battery in again and flash the .ftf bundle from the thread i linked above
12. If it flashed succesfully reboot and enter Recovery. Make ALL available wipes (full wipe, wipe cache, wipe system, wipe battery stats, wipe dalvik cache. I think that are all, right?) Now DON'T reboot before you made the next step, cause you have to start from zero if you reboot before making the next step
13. Flash the Cm7 rom
14. Flash the screen off fix
15. Reboot and wait until you get into the rom.
Note:
I know that J provides a own Baseband package, but i use this .ftf bundle, where I mixed the 435 Firmware parts with the amss.sin of the bb.52 bundle available in the bbcollection thread and I haven't any problems with this and on that way, you haven't to flash always the normal and the modded bb if you switch between roms.

I have runned this way J020b, I would try the c, but I can't! It's bad, but my phone is at the se service point for repairing it. But if I get it back, I'll install directly the latest Cm7 version again.

If you download Flashtool 0.2.9.1 there is FreeXperiaRecovery included. Look into the list, there wrote to click on the xrecovery button for installing FreeXperiaRecovery. The files are included in flashtool.

Hey, just for clarification - I thought it was never a good idea to use the option
"format system" in the "partion tools" sub menu of xrecovery?
Doing this will erase everything - including xrecovery itself [self destruct] and therefore the user would not have any option except complete reflash if anything were to go wrong with the subsequent install.... ?
Correct me if I am wrong.
Edit: if this is what you meant by "wipe system" in OP !

Yes i ment this.............maybe you're right, cause it will be formatted by installing the rom, too.........hm..will correct op.
Edit: I made it that way always, and had never problems, so i haven't thought about it.
no its COMPLETELY fine to format system AS LONG AS, you flash the rom RIGHT AFTER (DO NOT REBOOT THE PHONE BEFORE FLASHING ROM AS RECOVERY WILL HAVE BEEN ERASED).
When you format system, and install the rom, the rom has recovery built into it as well and it installs the recovery to your system partition when you flash the rom.
So as long as you dont reboot after format system and install the rom first, your fine.
Hello 9lukas5,
I thought I might mention that I've finally managed to fix my wlod but by installing setcpu on the earlier version of J's rom I was using, and setting it up to on boot run the processor at the usual 998 speed. Then I flashed the update.zip (from j's latest release, just formats the system) which didn't remove setcpu so the cpu was running at 998, this stopped all the random reboots and wlods.
I tried for a couple of weeks to use an update, trying so many different ways of stopping my phone being unusable as soon as I flashed the updates due to wlods.
Just though I'd mention it in this thread as it was on topic. Not everyones fix I'm sure, but helped me.
Cheers for all your support and help with installing the roms.

K - Right on, ty. Just so it's out there and people know ;-)
I believe the majority of WLODs are to due with the CPU constantly running at full speed.
I was getting a lot of WLODs with FreeXperia Kernel-10 on my ROM until I manually set the CPU governor to on demand.
Just go into Cyanogen Settings and change the CPU governor to on demand (it probably already is set to on demand, so change it to something else and then change it back to on demand).
After that my CPU was running at more than the max frequency and I haven't had many WLOD's (think I've had one since, a major improvement).
Erm not to be funny but their are no WLOD due to the changes J has made in his new version, regardless of how I flash it, no WLOD anymore... It has nothing to do with the way you flash the rom that caused this...
Hi guys,
I have follow ALL step from the step 1.
The phone boot, ask for the PIN code, then the page to change the language and then WLOD...
Do you think it come from the CPU frequency ?
I can't found the BTS kernel for this ROM.
Thank you for your help.
hmm....I shared it cause I hadn't any problems of WLODs yet on Cm7 since J019
Hello all,
the main trouble I had causing wlod, was definitely the clock speed. When I flashed the rom (about twenty times, different ways) I would not get enough time to configure any cpu settings, or any other settings, before my phone crashed and it would just start to bootloop with wlod.
I had to install setcpu on an older version of j's rom which didn't have overclock. Checked the box to apply settings on boot. So that when I flashed j's latest rom which is just the update of the system, all my apps were there (didn't bother wiping cache, data, etc) setcpu was still running on boot to keep the cpu set to 998.
Haven't had a single problem since, apart from low battery phone crash.
I tried so many different ways to flash before trying this, hope this helps someone.

[Q] ROMs problem

Hi there.
I have problem with all ROMs. I used CyaNoComb v1.1. In CWM i tap fix permissions. When it get finished I reboot the phone, type the PIN and than... I openned some app and than error, I tried other app and than error too. I wiped data, patrition chache, dalvik cache, battery stats. Than I tried to install ROM(FroyoComb v1.6) and the phone several times stuck at bootanimation. Animation freezes and I can do nothing. I rebooted the phone, tried to go to Android but I can't. I several times tried to install ROM(few roms) but it do the same. Than i restored SE stock 2.1 from my backup and it works normally... Than i tried to do clean install of any rom but nothing changed. I restord from my backup and i want to update from SEUS but when I hold back and connected phone to PC it says:Failed to detect product. The product could not be identified. Please disconnect and try it again.
I tried several times but nothing changed. Please help, what should i do?
Can anyone upload his backup from clean install FroyoComb or other rom? THANKS
Are you aware that installing froyocomb 1.6 and slades - umm help me - 'slades' 6.0 as clean install (wipe user data) does not work as expected?
People who waited report, they waited about 1-2 hours until it finished.
This is a known bug and will be fixed soon.
So try prvious versions or better the CyaNo editions - this should work.
Maybe fixing permissions is no good idea in this roms. Use your backups to have a running systems - if you haven't any backup: why the hell not?
sent with my mini pro
I have backup only from Stock ROM... Going to try older versions...
edit: What a HELL?! Slade's better than Sonny Ericsson. CyaNo v1.3 booted perfectly. But I still prefer CyanoComb or FroyoComb
There is currently a problem with Froyocomb 1.6 and slades rom V6.... You cant just clean or fresh install them.... You should read the comments my friend lol but here is how u wud install froyocomb 1.6
From ure stock install root and xrecovery then wipe dalvik cache and factory reset wipe everything necessary then install froyocomb 1.5 .... Boot it once play around for a minute or two log in ure google account and then go back into xrecovery, wat u will notice is that it becomes orange and this is clockwork mod recovery better than xrec its still the same dnt worry.... NOW WHAT U DO IS .... Without deleting anything, install froyocomb 1.6... It shud work coz thats how mine did hope it helps if not please ask

the best stock based rom i have come across is this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1998701&highlight=phenom
You don't need to flash a stock rom with Odin and your PC, just use CWM. Just follow the instructions on the page, i've pasted them below for your convenience.
***COMING FROM A DIFFERENT ROM A FULL WIPE IS RECOMMENDED***
***FULL WIPE***
MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP
Wipe data/factory reset in recovery
Wipe Cache & Davilk Cache
Flash Rom in CWM
Reboot
[EDIT] "can I just flash as usual using a ROM manager from the phone being turned on" - yes.

You have to do a megawipe if coming back from 4.2 roms, as these roms change the folder structure of internal storage. Dont forget to backup everything in your internal storage or you will lose them.
Many others have faced problems later by not doing a megawipe.
lefttobleed - pardon my ignorance, can this be done within the ROM manager or is it worth going into recovery to do this? I don't have my phone for a couple of days so I can't currently check settings.
Thanks

you have to go into recovery and flash the megawipe aroma file. sorry i dont remember the link for the file. Search for it.
Please note that i am not familiar with rom manager so i dont know whether this can be done with rom manager. I always flash through recovery.
Edit: Please dont try this through rom manager... i feel something might go really wrong.

How to Install MIUIv4:
1) Download & copy ROM file to your SD-card
2) Download and flash any ICS kernel for your phone. (you can find some of them here)
3) Enter in to CWM and do factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache.
4) Flash ROM using "Install zip from SD-card" (Use Install for Locked boot option in ROM setup if your use kernel without Init.d support, and for Unlocked boot if it support)

just download sony pc companion or SEUS,
and just connect phone and click update...
just follow the simple steps..

As srik9999 said download seus and just repair it.
You can use flashtool too but i reccomend seus.
Also when it says first boot might take some time it means that you will have already accesed your bootanimation and you wait.
Just a last thing. You probably did something wrong or you used a download manager and your zip got corrupted

[Q] Complete reinstall, as fresh and clean as possible

Hi!
I want to do a
COMPLETE REINSTALL
of my Neo V.
I use AOKP ROM.
What is the best way to start here?
1) using flashtool by DoomLord and flashing old stuff before doing a full wipe?
2) only full wipe via recovery and then install the ROM?
3) factory reset, then full wipe, then flash ROM?
Whatever.
I am overwhelmed of the possibilities in doing it. There are many ways, but I want to ensure that everything is set up correctly from the start.
All my data and intern ROM stuff is saved via Titanium.
So don't be shy to recommend the best and cleanest and deepest way to do this!
Thanks a bunch for your advices!

This is the usual procedure when installing a (new) ROM.
The other day I saw something in Flashtool which said that my device would still be a ICS device. There was nothing mentioned that AOKP was already in use. Or a JB kernel. There was still a footprint from a ICS ROM I used ages ago. I want to change that.
This is my problem: I want the device to be recognized correctly everywhere.
So, the advice you gave me would be the deepest I can do for the device itself?
I think I did this one or two times, but these footprints from former ROMs and flashing stuff are still there.
Thanks in advance!
Flash stock firmware (.587)
Copy ROM and GAPPS on SD
Flash a kernel in fastboot
Go to recovery..
Full Wipe.. install..
it should be good..
Check in Flashtool once the mobile is settled down. it should recognise as 4.1.x or watever!!

It is important to mention where to get this Stock ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1678690
What I already got back to normal is the indication of Wifi: It never was blue and full but always grey.
I didn't check my version in Flashtool yet as I am still restoring my apps and settings.
Will report back if there are any issues or new information.
See you around.
