Go to the sticky it has some detailed info on how to fix,
Basically you will need to go into recovery by using the hold down the volume/on buttons with the battery removed and then plug the usb into the computer with Odin already up, this should get you back into recovery then:
1. Download Eugenes 'Froyo that does not brick' file.
2. Extract the files.
3. While in download mode load the files.
4. load the PIT file in appropriate area.
5. load the .tar file in the PDA area.
6. DO NOT check 're-partition'.
7. Click start, let it finish. Your phone will load and reboot into stock recovery. It will error out again. DONT panic! This is what's supposed to happen.
8. Now, pull your battery.
9. Download the 'JFD file
11. Once again, open Odin, plug in your phone, put into download mode.
12. Load the PIT file into the appropriate area and the .tar in the PDA area.
13. THIS TIME you want to check the 're-partition' box.
14. Now click start, let it finish, and this time your phone will load up just fine!
good luck...............

Been there dude. Just keep trying to get Odin to recognize it, maybe restart your PC. I may have also tried rebooting into Download mode (3 buttons) to get the issue resolved. Just keep at it in Odin.

Try these steps if you havent already:
1. Remove USB from phone, take the battery out and put it back in (to make sure its off)
2. Open Odin and plug USB into PC
3.Hold both Vol buttons while connecting USB to phone
4. Phone should go into download.
If not then you need a JIG

thank you
i finally go into the download mode. i followed all each of you guys' suggestions.
thank you all very much~~~~~~~ good night!

simple solution
Go to this addy: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=954509
It is Baywolf's AIO Toolbox 2.5 do all the steps I describe below and it will restore it back
To Eclair 2.1.1
First though keep you sim and SD card in, pull the battery, open up the program, connect your USB cable to the phone, then put the battery back in! Baywolfs program will detect it, you'll see a port yellow color appear, you now can do a restore, click the flash to stock button, and click pit, use his drop-down list, its already provided, then hit the PDA button, use the tar file he again provided, now its ready, hit the start button, and It will re-flash it back to Eclair 2.1.1 with 0 defects, its an awesome program, and this was the only program, that got me up and running, ODIN and Heimdall's wouldn't respond, but this one saved my ass! trust me, I was in the same scenario, your in! I now have axura 2.3.1.0 up and back running, and I got into that delimna by trying to downgrade a modem, and ODIN totally hosed me up!
Good Luck

[Q] Help PLZ! :(

First off, I would like to say sorry if this is the wrong section to post this. I'm a total noob
Secondly, I don't have a Vibrant, I have a Samsung Galaxy S 4g. I couldn't find a specific thread for my phone but I was guessing I should post it here because I thought that they were pretty close? The Vibrant being sgh-T959 and S4g is sgh-T959V, so I'm hoping I can get some help here.
I've literally spent about 16 hours or more trying to fix my phone (2 days).
Here's what happened:
I flashed my phone with Heimdall following instructions here at this forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358498. At the very bottom of the first post is the download section and I downloaded the 2nd choice which I believe is "Download KJ1 Kernel Stock Rom with Bootloaders". I only flashed my phone because it was having problems.
I went and flashed my phone and it worked! It was working fine until I went to RootExplorer changing permissions on a txt file and my phone froze (I don't think changing permissions on the txt file was the problem). So I reseted my phone by holding the power button down until it boots up and then I got stuck in some kind of boot loop (where the phone keeps rebooting after samsung galaxy logo). So I thought the only way to get passed this is to reflash the phone with the same procedure I did earlier.
I put the phone in download mode and went on with the flashing. For some reason it got stuck and it wouldn't finish. On the Command Prompt, it got stuck at this:
[C:\DOCUME~1\Dar\LOCALS~1\Temp\DarHeimdallOneClickB3DC9DDF\heimdall-win32\heimda
ll.exe, flash, --pit, C:\DOCUME~1\Dar\LOCALS~1\Temp\DarHeimdallOneClickB3DC9DDF\
Sgs4g.pit, --6, C:\DOCUME~1\Dar\LOCALS~1\Temp\DarHeimdallOneClickB3DC9DDF\zImage
, --7, C:\DOCUME~1\Dar\LOCALS~1\Temp\DarHeimdallOneClickB3DC9DDF\zImage-1, --22,
C:\DOCUME~1\Dar\LOCALS~1\Temp\DarHeimdallOneClickB3DC9DDF\factoryfs.rfs, --23,
C:\DOCUME~1\Dar\LOCALS~1\Temp\DarHeimdallOneClickB3DC9DDF\data.rfs, --24, C:\DOC
UME~1\Dar\LOCALS~1\Temp\DarHeimdallOneClickB3DC9DDF\cache.rfs, --11, C:\DOCUME~1
\Dar\LOCALS~1\Temp\DarHeimdallOneClickB3DC9DDF\modem.bin]
And on the other window (Heimdall's window) it got stuck and shows this:
Initialising connection...
Detecting device...
Claiming interface...
Setting up interface...
Checking if protocol is initialised...
Protocol is not initialised.
Initialising protocol...
Handshaking with Loke...
Beginning session...
Session begun with device of type: 0
Downloading device's PIT file...
PIT file download sucessful
Uploading KERNEL
KERNEL upload failed!
Ending session...
So what I did was close both windows and tried again. This time my computer couldn't recognize my computer. Then I turned my phone off and tried to go back to "Download Mode" but instead, it showed a "Phone with dotted lines through this yellow triangle and into a computer". So I turned the phone off again and tried and tried and kept trying to put it into download mode but couldn't get it to work. It kept showing the phone, triangle, and computer. Although I did realize that my computer can still recognize my phone at this state.
I tried using ODIN but odin couldn't recognize my phone. Went back on Heimdall and that still recognizes my phone! I was feeling hopeful but whenever I kept trying to reflash my phone, it keeps getting stuck at the same spots that I mentioned above.
Can someone, anyone, please help me with my situation? I'm way to broke to buy a new android. This phone is incredible and I really would want to get it up and running again. Is there a way I can get passed this?
I know this is a lot of time reading this but I would highly appreciate anyone that can help! Please and Thanks you!

This is for our version of the Vibrant, but you get the idea. You'll need to get the Pit/Tar files from your forum.

If you are getting a "Phone.. ! ..Computer" image (seen above) when booting phone, yes, you are bricked but it is reversible! Just follow these steps...
Make sure you have ODIN OPEN with admin privileges!
1.) Take off your back cover, remove your sim & mirco sd card.
2.) Remove your battery.
Make sure you have the USB plugged into your PC but NOT your phone!
3.) Hold the volume buttons.
4.) Put the battery in.
5.) Put the USB in.
You don't necessarily need the download mode image to be present. As long as you are getting the COM ID to light up yellow in ODIN, just flash back to stock like normal.

Thanks for the Galaxy 4g threads! and yeah that does look very familiar its just that I did everything I can to get into download mode but I can't get it to work. Thanks again for the threads!
I remember when I was a noob(no pun) the same thing happened and couldn't get it to do anything for like 4 hours. I think I opened odin took battery out, installed usb to computer, hooked usb to phone, pressed volume up and down simultaneously and installed battery without letting go of the volume buttons (I'm not sure if youll see dl mode on phone),pick your .pit/.tar files and flash away even without the COM showing
On the post above mine I think step 4 and 5 should be reversed

exclamation point error

Hey Everyone,
I am having troubles with the exclamation point error. Odin locked up in the middle of a flash and now I can't reboot the phone. The restart doesn't work, and I can't get back into download mode. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hey, try (WITH THE PHONE PLUGGED IN) turning off the phone until you get to the charging battery screen (you ought to be able to accomplish this by pulling your battery, popping it back in and plugging your vibrant into your computer via the data cable until you see the charging battery icon) From here, press volume up and down, and power all at once (or try volume +, and power)...As soon as the screen turns black, release your power button. With a bit of luck, and the correct key combo, BAM download mode. ^^

Ya I had tried that, unfortunatly it seems all roads lead to the exclamation point. Even pulling the battery, plugging the phone in and holding -, + and -, or just + doesn't even take me to download
If ODIN still recognize the COM port then you can still try flashing. Which ODIN image are you using and did you try it with the PIT file? Try a different Odin image because yours might be corrupt. Also you should try with a different cable.

Flashing noob - need help installing Win7 on my TG01

Hi guys.
I need some clear instructions, and software needed to install Windows 7 on my TG01. I do not know most of the stuff I see posted in threads, so I need something even a retard could do.
It already has WM 6.5 on it. And it works well. I need something with a great chance of not bricking it.
anyone help plz
N00b guide
There is certainly not an obvious way to flash a TG01, especially to WP7, so here is a rough guide it's not perfect but hopefully this works for you. Please read and download everything you need before beginning the process.
Step 1: Flash WP7 bootloader
1) Download and install TG Downloader and the USB drivers. Reboot PC.
2) Fully charge your device battery. (Buy a cheap universal battery charger from eBay if necessary.)
3) Switch off your device.
4) Place your TG01 into "Download mode" as follows...
Devices with 0321 ROMs: Hold down Camera + Power buttons on boot.
Otherwise: Remove back cover, battery and SIM card. Carefully remove black sticker where the SIM card was. Get a piece of copper wire and twirl it so that you can easily hold it and touch Pin 1 and Pin 3 at the same time (known as "shorting"), see below image. Replace battery, short the pins with the copper wire and press the Power button.
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
After either of these your device should display a white LED on the front which means it is in Download mode. If not, switch off and try again. Also if using the PIN method, maybe try holding the Reset button on the back for 10 seconds straight after pressing the Power button.
5) Connect phone to PC. Start TG Downloader with admin rights (right-click shortcut or EXE and choose "Run as administrator".
6) TG Downloader will display an error, click "yes". Click change port to change to Toshiba DL port if necessary. Click "Download mode".
7) Download and extract wp7boot.bin, browse to it in TG Downloader and click "Start Download".
8) Do not disconnect your phone until the process completes, it shouldn't take longer than 5-10mins.
Step 2: Flash WP7 ROM
1) Download and extract these OS files. Install the Acer driver (32 or 64bit) and the ZTEiT Common Downloader.
2) Download a WP7 ROM. I recommend one of the latest 7.8 builds. Once the ROM is downloaded, extract, rename to flash.bin and place in the same directory as NPRG8650.hex and partition.mbn.
3) Fully charge your device battery.
4) Switch off your device.
5) Hold Camera + Power to boot into Download mode, device should display a blue LED.
6) Connect to PC. Start ZTEiT Common Downloader. Select Multi-Download.
7) Browse to folder with downloaded files. Click advanced and for each of the three files (flash.bin, NPRG8650.hex and partition.mbn) browse to them.
8) Click Start to begin flashing process. Do not disconnect device until complete. Could take 15-25mins.
Then your device should boot up into your new WP7 software. Please note camera does not function in any WP7 builds AFAIK and there may be bugs or other limitations.
If this guide works, please go thank these guys: qinwengui, mirolg, arag0n85 and kevinpwhite. Of course thank the ROM creator too :victory:

I'm getting the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue". I can not use Kies b/c I do not know my serial number.
I've tried looking for tutorials on using heimdall but not much comes up for our device on Sprint.
Can some generous person help?
My phone has been soft bricked for a couple of days and it's getting hard to arrange things w/o a phone. I'm getting desperate.

If your trying to change firmware on heimdall you need to first ....

DO NOT USE SOMEONE ELSE'S PIT FILE OR DOWNLOAD ONE FROM THE WEB IT MAY HARD BRICK YOUR PHONE. Trust me i know
6)When that has downloaded then to to (Flash) and hit (Bowser Pit)
7) Pick the pit file you had saved on your desktop.
8) Once thats done go to Partition files and hit (Add) MDM is for Modem
Once you do that hit start and you should be all set .Let it do its thing and reset itself and BOOM! New firmware! Hope this helps its been awhile so if I've missed something someone please correct me.DO THIS AT YOUR QWN RISK!!!! I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOUR PHONE DIES!!!!!

[Firmware][Unofficial][ODIN][S4 DevEd]I545OYUFNC5 Boot/System Restore

For Galaxy S4 Developer Edition Devices Only!!!
I have extracted both the System and Boot partitions from my Developer Edition Galaxy S4 on official I545OYUFNC5 KitKat. I bundled both partitions into one ODIN tar file and then gzipped them up. I am sharing the ODIN tar Restore for these partitions with the community. I feel that they can come in handy in the case where you might need to or might want to return to a Rooted Stock System and Stock Boot. I have tried this Restore file on my own device and have had no issues while flashing through ODIN, booting the phone or booting into the system. As I stated, this is a Rooted Stock System. i.e. Aside from Rooting I have not performed any other modifications or changes when the images were pulled
FYI: I finished working on a larger ODIN Restore tar, however due to the lack of a Stock Recovery I545OYUFNC5 image, it will include the Stock Recovery from the Retail S4 on I545VRUFNC5. It can be found here.
So, without further ado.....
Directions:
1. Ensure you have at least 80% or more battery
2. Install Samsung USB Drivers if needed
3. Download either ODIN 3.07 or ODIN 3.09 - I only tested in ODIN 3.09
4. Download I545OYUFNC5_Boot_System_Restore.tar.md5.gz (MD5sum: b286e2003ee85524e740d789c89e4328)
5. Download 7zip and install if needed
6. Extract I545OYUFNC5_Boot_System_Restore.tar.md5 (MD5sum: 9544d486c6f117562cadab26a4580e28) from I545OYUFNC5_Boot_System_Restore.tar.md5.gz somewhere on your PC
7. Reboot phone into Download/ODIN mode (Power off phone. After phone turns off, press Volume Down and Power Button at the same time. On the Warning Screen, press Volume Up to enter Download/ODIN Mode)
8. Start either ODIN 3.07 or 3.09
9. Connect Phone to PC via USB cable
10. Phone should show on COM port
11. Uncheck Auto Reboot so that only "F. Reset Time" is checked. Make sure nothing else is checked
12. Load I545OYUFNC5_Boot_system_Restore.tar.md5 into PDA slot (ODIN 3.07) or AP slot (ODIN 3.09)
13. ODIN will check the MD5sum, this will take some time
14. When finished, again make sure that only "F. Reset Time" is checked and your phone still shows on a COM port
15. If you meet the above requirements, click start and wait for the files to be flashed and the word “RESET” to show above the COM box, you are almost done
IMPORTANT STEP!!!!!
16. When complete, unplug phone. Hold Volume Up and Power button to reboot phone
17. After phone shuts off and before it starts booting, hold Home Button and Volume Up to enter Recovery Mode
18. In Recovery Mode, Wipe Data/Factory Reset
19. Once complete, reboot system
20. Wait for phone to boot and then enjoy!
One issue however, with KitKat, is the inability for 3rd party apps to write to the External Storage. This can be circumvented my utilizing a Root Browser. In order to allow 3rd party apps to access the External Storage, you will need to open your 3rd party Root Browser and navigate to system->etc->permissions. The directory will need to be mounted as Read/Write. In my case, where I use Root Explorer, I scrolled down to the platform.xml file, long pressed the file and chose “open in text editor”. Once open in the Text Editor, I scrolled down to the line which says: permission name="android.permission.WRITE.EXTERNAL.STORAGE". In between the <group gid="sdcard_rw" /> and </permission> lines, insert a line which says <group gid="media_rw" />. Save and exit. Reboot the phone. You now have external writing enabled for 3rd party apps. Check my screen shots below for a step-by-step.
