I posted this in a thread but haven't gotten any response:
I was thinking about starting a Groubal petition about AT&T and how they are capping the HUSPA speeds on the Atrix 4g and maybe the Inspire?
Maybe they will pay some kind of attention to the issue ..anyone?
"I am one of many people who got excited about the new Motorola Atrix 4G phone when AT&T advertised that they will be carrying it. The Atrix 4G is a powerful phone and has a lot of great features. Unfortunately, since owning this phone I have been experiencing very slow data speeds and have been losing the Internet connection especially in times when I really needed to find directions or look up information. I have contacted AT&T and was told that everything is fine and that the network in my area is working the way it is supposed to.
This is what I asked AT&T: Why would the Motorola Atrix 4G, advertised as the most powerful phone in the market, register poorer data speeds than other less powerful phones? Why would AT&T advertise as being a 4G phone while it doesn't perform as good as a 3G phone?
I am using Groubal to try to get AT&T and Motorola’s attention about this matter because I couldn't find any other way to do so....There are so many unhappy paying customers out there and we want to be heard and our phones to work."

It would be better to do a full class action law suite against both Moto and ATT on this issue... you would need 10% of the phone owners to actually sign and get involved as far as this.
It would be the only way to truely get either one of their attentions.

300 up ... that's the first issue. The iPhone gets 3000down / 1500up / 130ms ping consistently. My Atrix (two feet away) gets 700down / 300up / 450+ms ping consistently. Every once and a while in it will top 2800down, but upload and ping still suffer.
I will sign and post to help out the Atrix community. I can't complain too much, Work pays for the phone and wanted me to get an iPhone like everyone else (lame).

I am announcing my good bye and resignation from this forum, we have decided to switch to AT&T because of how much Verizon has screwed us over, and how much we will save. I will be switching to an iPhone and hope all the devs continue their great work on ROMS and themes for the Eris. I had a great time, and who knows maybe I'll be back one day.

They don't have a lot of plans. The one that I have only gives me 50 mb of data a month. Since I am around WIFI at home and work, thats really plenty for me even with Android. I get 1200 text messages and 1200 voice minutes. It only cost $30 a month.
They also have an unlimited talk and text plan with 20 mb of data for $45. My wife uses that one because she likes to talk and doesn't care about the data.
In order for it to work for Android you have to be around WIFI and be pretty self reliant. Its a prepaid service. Anyone who wants more info can PM me. I am a fan, but I don't want to come off as advertising.

Funny I switched to Verizon for the exact same reasons, plus the better phones and cheaper plans (at the time at least). I actually wanted to go T-Mobile but their service where I am is garbage.
Good luck, it's a great switch if you want an inferior network and inferior device.
Note that the above is my opinion and I would image there's much more to the story than just your side.
Either way, I wish you the best and I hope you're happy with ATT.
Idk if this was already posted but they are capping or unlimeted data pland on tethering. However you can use your browse on your phone without limits :'(

My question is will this also be applied to wifi tethering..not sprints tethering service. We all knew this was coming...when are they going to remove unlimited plans if ever?

I don't think it applies to Wifi Tether and the likes.
The article says that the people who tether "under the radar" are safe from this cap. I can only assume it's people with other tethering options...

**** im on sprints ass about getting me my $75 upgrades they owe me.. 3 lines are eligible for the upgrade.. I know that they took it off, and know about the no more 75 upgrade... But its ON CONTRACT that they owe me. They want to walk away from it but i got that upgrade way before they took the 75 off from upgrade, and to this day and time its still on my contract that i signed. They quick giving ppl ETF, but when people like me quick to jumping at something that i earned in time, they dont wanna give me... **** em. Ima win this battle they will be giving me 225 credit for the 3 lines that are indeed by proof on my ACCOUNT that they owe me 75x 3 for upgrades.. Dont let this happen to yall! Fight for your rights! You pay for time u get what u get. Thats why people do what they do w roaming and free tethering cause sprint pulls this ****.. I say to all that do it, go on w ur badselfs. Sprint gets what they get for doing stupid **** like this.
Im clearly in right when it clearly says it in stone that my contract is eligible for the upgrade

Like hell they don't. After the Evo 4G came out and they offered their cheap unlimited, they had a huge influx of customers. After that, major network areas had problems with people even able to get data at all. How did they fix it? They let everyone have data, just at a slower speed. How else do you think reprovisioning works? Or deleting the Sprint proxies inside EPST?

Not true. Think of it like the QoS settings on a router. To maintain everybody having network access, they limit the speeds of everybody.

Ugh, are you kidding me? I didn't even know they did this so called reprovisioning. I've complained a lot before about their data, this is kind of the problem. Sprints equipment is way under par, that's why their data sucks. This network vision crap better be a big upgrade to both speed and capacity to their total network, or it won't mean jack in the long run.

So, looking to upgrade and kick Sprint to the curb after 12 years with Nextel, and Ting is looking like a really fine service as far as four line family plans go. I'm kicking around my HTC Hero, (CM7, gonna try ICS Beta for it's last huzzah.) and was looking for a more powerful Android. Was thinking about getting a feature phone or a mifi, and complementing it with a Galaxy Player. But the Photon looks really, really nice all of a sudden, with 4G and GSM compatibility. Toss in the best specs on a month-to-month phone that I've seen, I'm seriously considering dropping $550 on this thing. Please talk me out of it?
I don't know if you are in the states, but US gsm towers are blocked.
Edit: The photon is featured in their front page, and it gives incorrect/conflicting information about the phone.

Just get Ting are you in Canada?
Stateside. And with the Photon kinda being oversold on the Ting website, and not that great a bump from the Conquer, dual core nonwithstanding, I'm still a little confuzled on what I want.
How future-proof would you say this thing is, regarding still being competitive in the next couple years? Tend to run them until they dead or unserviceable, and if blow a massive chunk of my tax return, might as well make it last a while.
Experience with Ting thus far...
Hi all,
I recently changed carriers from AT&T (using Motorola Atrix 4G) to Ting (Motorola Photon 4G) and I have recently unlocked the bootloader (yes, I lost 4G connectivity), rooted, and installed the latest version of Rocko ROM with Alien Theme.
Everything has worked out so far and I am having a good experience with the device and with Ting Mobile, from their no wait phone service policy, to their dashboard web interface. I can't really speak to the relative degree of future proofing the Photon may have compared to other phones, I am just happy that I could get away from paying so much for a similar tier of service at AT&T and not necessarily have to compromise on a phone, though not being able to use GSM towers with a prepaid SIM card is a bummer, but otherwise, so far so good. Take care all.

No phone is future proof the way things are flowing manufacturers are cracking phones out of their ass every 3 months or so. You have to look at the development threads that will tell you how active the phone is on the developers on xda are and that should give you an insight on how worth it is.

I disagree. Just because it's a mobile virtual network operator doesn't mean the the files are the same. On the contrary, I'd bet anyone using one of these device could confirm their notification bar and lock screen show Ting as the carrier, not sprint, which means at a minimum the framework-res/eri.xml has been edited, meaning it's not the same file despite being on "technically" the same network.
