[Q] Only 31 fps - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've noticed that there is a fps cap on the X10. When the screen is on, the avarage is 31 FPS, and when you run FPS2D again, and you turn the sreen off, the avarage is 54. Is there any way that this cap can be removed, just like the HTC Evo? Maybe that kings like Zdzihu and jerpelea can do this? Idk if you need a cracked bootloader for this?

Its usually set to 32 but it sometimes goes higher
We need a cracked bootloader (correct me if i'm wrong)
Btw... this was answered 100times before^^

[Q]What's the point of 5 point multitouch?

I've been trying to search around as to why you'd need anything more than 3 fingers touching the screen at once(realistically only 2), and i can't find anything.
can someone explain the reasoning for it?
same thing with the 10 point multitouch.
Im with you, but if had to guess, it's because we can.

games such as fruit ninja/slice? also showing how awesome atrix is. compared it with my friends thunderbolt 4 and charge 5 point touch!
consider this...
i know that we have the fingerprint scanner which seems to be a good tool for privacy. but a multi-point / pattern should increase the security of the pattern, if that's your lock preference.
and i'm sure it wont be long until we see mods for zooming and scrolling. possibly even page flipping. personally i'd like to see it incorporated to work with the clipboard. that would greatly multiply browsing and searching speed. not to mention the uses that could be handy with terminal emulator.

why do you need more than 2 or even 3 fingers for that game?
i guess the best answer here is "because we can"

P500 inferior to X10Mini???

Hi i have P500 and i flashed Mik_os 6.5.7 with android 2.3.5 and i am pretty happy with it. Also i kave installed Adobe Flash Player 10.2 and it runs pretty good.
But my friend got resently SE x10 mini with stock 2.3.3 android kernel 2.6.32.9 with Flash player 11.1 and it runs damn pretty smooth on 600Mhz!
I noticed that his phone works much smoother in all the work, even Angry birds never lag on his phone while mine lags pretty much on bigger levels even overclocked to 825Mhz performance mode!
But aside that, i am very concerned when it comes to flash. I watch alot of Anime online and on my phone it lags a lot on 70% of videos while his can play all of them without lag! Is it because of flash version? Also, his internet surfing is much faster..i think.
I know that my phone is in top performance cuz i scored 1302 points on quadrant standard which is pretty high.
So, why is his phone so much faster, and it has same procesor on 600Mhz like mine?
Maybe it's the hardware problem, and also x10mini has a very small screen so I guess it wouldn't use so much power like LG optimus one.
New x10 mini has a 1 Ghz processor

Wait....why are you people whining over such things? Not happy? Go buy that phone, no point contributing to the spam here in XDA. Also, components cost have dropped some dollars as there is better technologies, hence the xperia mini is so cheap.

Camera help

So Im going through the settings (afraid to mess thing sup i should add) and then under image quality it says normal, fine and super fine. My question is what are these? and if I change it to super fine for example will I get way better picture then I would if it were on normal?
Superfine is typically what you want to have that setting on.

ok cool! so what exactly does that do anyways? And are there any other settings I should make sure to keep my phone on?
has to do with atifacts
Using the normal setting, you may see some artifacts in your pictures, using fine its less noticeable, and superfine ever less so. Obviously superfine uses more memory but if you've got a 16GB or 32GB SD card I wouldn't worry about it and leave the settings on superfine and 8 megapixels.

Speed up Android 90%

I saw this in Reddit today and thought I'd post it to the EVO forum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1987032
Yes i saw this on reddit too, have you tried it out yet?
I tried it out, there is actually a speed boost. Although I think my battery suffered a bit.
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
nice find! i need to start checking out other threads/sections on xda.. i always just stay in what ever phone i have at the time thread.. there's alot of other cool issh goin on else where :good:
I too saw that on Reddit. I tried it out on my Evo running Stock w/ Goodies, and on my Nexus 7. Installed, rebooted, and played a bit to let things "settle in", and there is definitely a noticeable improvement in speed and responsiveness, on what were already pretty swift and smooth devices.
I haven't tried it yet, but will soon. If this works out in the long run, hopefully the devs can put this in their roms. I wonder if Google knows about this...
Anyone do a quadrant on this yet? I'm curious if it really works or its just a placebo. Also, how is battery life?

Haven't looked much into this but improvements of this nature usually have a decent drawback.... Ie battery life...
interested in some results though if anyone does it

Directions seem to be hard to come by in that thread... I installed the apk in it, and also flashed a zip file that was referenced in one of the last pages. Doesn't seem to make a bit of difference... As a reference, though, I benchmarked a 6700 on basically stock JellyBean a few weeks back. Still have the screen shot from it saved.

Come on guys, running a benchmark to see if it works is a total waste of time. I can run the same benchmark 10 different times and get10 totally different scores without applying any mods at all.

This is better:
Enter this in a terminal to see if its working.
watch -n 1 cat /proc/sys/kernel/random/entropy_avail
3000+ & its doing its job. (Per that thread)

tried it on my Sony S, doesn't really appear to do anything... then agian I wasn't having lag issues...
Also, this shouldn't affect quadrant... just random lags
Cyanogenmod himself posted in that thread saying that there is something going on, but he doesn't know what exactly it is... However there is a mild speedup according to him. He just doesn't know why

From what little I know about entropy pools, the larger this pool (a pool of random actions right?) is & the faster your programs/inputs are able to access it. The more responsive they'll be.
I could be very wrong but this is what I assume is happening here.
This pool that continusly dumps & fills for however many seconds is about 300-400 nomally on our device. With the tweak the pool is 3000+, I think the tweak also increases the speed of the refresh to access the pool by 1 second.
So 1 second (every second this -> 4 digit figure randomly fills & dumps) + 3000+ accessable random numbers (actions) vs. undetermined number of seconds & a pool avg or 300-400.
Again I'm guessing. I haven't spoke of this since my Eee PC & that might've been for a kernal.
I imagine it as a hand/s repeatedly reaching for a few hundered chocolates spinning in a whirlwind (before) & a ton of random chocolates with even faster hands reaching for a few thousand chocolates spinning in the whilrwind (after).

Overclocking and dead pixels

Hello guys, I just wanted to advice everyone to leave your phones alone when they get hot and don't overclock, especially on summers. Undervolt to 806mHz. I have noticed my first dead pixel because I was ignorant of the fact that getting the phone hot may burn the some pixels. So please be careful!

Eh?! How is that possible? I thought pixels die only by heat! What else can cause this? A magnetic field? A drop of dispear?

Everything has a reason to be. There has to be an explanation. I'll do some research, because I don't wanna have some BAM and WE ARE DEAD pixels.
Some pixels are just faulty. I think it's even covered by warranty and you could get a new device or a screen replaced if you're lucky.

Well you could always return to stock and relock it. They usually don't check with Sony if you've unlocked or not. Just tell them it came that way and you've only recently discovered it.
And good luck!

Why is it so strange? Any mechanical thing can get broken, or stuck.. or "just" "run out of power"..
crystals in LCD can get stuck.. also LCD's can get image persistence effect..
in OLED for example blue dies faster than red or green.
Sometime crystals that are stuck can be brought back to life.. same as sometimes image persistence effect can be removed..
On my phone, where is the status bar, when it shows a picture/movie with grey colors i can see a black line, and sometimes (when the phone is heated) i can even see the notifications shadows from status bar (i.e battery, clock etc). But that line is visible only on grey color, in any other color it's invisible. I have this problem since last summer, it was quite annoying at the beginning, but now i'm used to it, and it's not a problem anymore.

No harm in trying ....
Mostly they don't check the status of bootloader, though as venoma told, you could always relock it and then take it from there
