Dear All Experiences Guys,
I have one big trouble and don't know to define it as completely brick or not? I originally brought a Streak with baseband 31800-EU, I have just root it using SOC and I don't notice when I have lost the phone vibration before root or after rooted.
I try to load the original stock rom in the wiki page (31800), and before I go to recovery and load the pkg file, I go to fastboot mode and do "fastboot erase system -w" (without the -i 0x413c) (I done this cause I have owned a G1 which have no problem with this fastboot command), then the fastboot response erasing system OK, erasing USERDATA OK, erasing CATCH ... and it stuck there for quite a long time. I have press press CTRL+X or Z to terminate DOS command and then cause I believe the fastboot has done erase for me I just pull out cable and battery in order to go to recovery mode for pkg load, but phone NOT START ANYTHING even DELL LOGO, it just blink the 3 soft button for 1 second and nothing happen.
Would somebody know this case and advice me if my TOY is never get back or I still can survive it. I think fastboot wont erase boot or recovery partition with fastboot erase system -w, and I believe at least I should still have fastboot mode alive, isn't it?
Please help advise something, I am planning to take to shop to find their DELL streak battery for test. and actually in my Country dont have DELL center so I am not able to send it to DELL for repaire.
I had a similar issue trying to erase the cache partition though fastboot. But mine didnt even have the leds blink. try qdl tool, i believe dj_steve put up one specfically for unbricking (link) if that doesnt work try the normal qdl tool.
just be glad you at least get blinkling leds, if yours was like my first one where they didnt blink not even qdl tool can save it.
the streak has issues with erasing partitions in fastboot apparently
Thanks TheManii,
I have follow step for QDLtool, hold down VOL+ key and plug USB but the computer doesn't detect any new hardware, so does it mean my dell gone forever?
Do you think it because no batery power? And according to your last words you mean you have a brick Dell streak previously, which is totally not survived?
Does it not detect any new hardware at all? If it doesnt that there's a good chance yours cant be fixed, try letting it charge a bit and if it's still true you prob need to call dell and ask for a replacement.
I had to trade my first one in because of that.
It's dont charge itself anymore, but I try to use other charger to charge the battery. I try tp plug it in USB port with Vol up botton holded, it doesnt detect any new hardware.
Maybe you are right, it won't be back to me again.
Thanks TheManii, at least you give me a comment.
i doubt you can brick..
you need to follow streakdroid guide completely to a T for it to work.
when you hold the vol+ and plug the wire in, the screen doesn't really come on, it is just black....
plug the phone directly into your pc in the back.. or try another pc.
it should work.. you don't need battery juice to work

Hello Community,
first of all please excuse for my bad english. I´m trying to explain my problem. Today I wanted to root my Dell and wanted to flash the newest DJ Steve ROM. All startet fine and there were no problems. I have successfully rooted my phone. After that I tried to flash the Clockwork recovery. Also this went successfully. Then I cleared the cache with fastboot. At this point my phone stucked and nothing happened. I removed the batterie, put it back in and now my phone won´t power up. I tried several opportunities I found in the World Wide Web. But nothing helped with my issue.
Somebody had the same problem and can help me out?
Thanks in advance
Did you try factory reset yet?if no!remove battery, put it back, hold the volume up and down button and press the power button(hold it at least 10 seconds)and choose factory reset.goood luck
Use a bit more peanut oil.
I tried all the things that are supposed to do. I tried to factory reset, I tried to get in fastboot modus but nothing happened. The phone didn´t even turn on. It get´s no power.
What do you mean with peanut oil? Are you kidding?

I've just done exactly the same thing, any tips on getting it working?
Tried holding down various combination of buttons to turn it on. Plugged it in to laptop to use qdl tool but nothing being detected on usb.
try keeping it connected to charger for sometime and switch is on , when connected to the charger.
If possible test that the battery is working
I've tried that but will give it another go.
Also tried connected to mains & USB with battery removed but still nothing on screen.
same situation
i sorta have the same situation but my goes to the dell screen but it doesnt go anywhere else the home and menu button lights up continuously and then stops flashing on the menu button and then it reboots what does that mean?
That doesn't sound too bad, do a factory reset with the volume buttons. If you still have no luck use clockwork mod to reflash the rom or go back to stock.
I'm getting a new one tomorrow, mine is toast.
Hey guys, the end of the story in my case was, that I had to sent my Dell to the Dell Support in Hungary. They fixed the problem quikly and today I became my Dell back. But now I´ve got a new problem. It is locked. When I bought it on ebay it was unlocked and after Dell repaired and probably flashed my Dell ich have to purchase an unlock code. Or is there another way to unlock my Dell?
I've asked this in the 345 thread, but had no response as probably not the correct place to put it.
I installed 345 over 322. Downloaded, stored in root of SD and installed using the update package selection in the recovery last night.
Everything was working fine and when i woke up this morning checked my gmail, rad them and then pressed the home key. The screen turned black aside from the task bar at the top. The rest of the screen wouldn't respond.
The buttons wouldn't work apart from the power button which eventually turned the phone off. When i turned the phone back on it went into a boot loop. I tried re-flashing the pkg, but no joy. I reinstalled CWM and DJSteve's 1.8.1, but still had the boot loop.
Then i tried to delete the dalvik cache in CWM, but it wouldn't do anything.
I went into fastboot and tried deleting the cache using the command:
fastboot -i 0x413c -w
which told me:
erasing 'userdata'... OKAY
erasing 'cache'... FAILED (status read failed (Too many links))
Since then my streak has been dead... it won't respond to any button presses, no lights. Nothing.
I tried the QDLtool, with what i believe are the latest drivers, pressing the Vol+ key whilst attaching the USB, but nothing came up, i've tried this on a win7 64bit, a win7 32bit and 2 win xp 32bit pcs. None of the pcs even recognised that the phone was attached.
Following a bit more research i'll also add that when i go the cache failed message, i was using a cheap cable bought off ebay, not the official Dell one.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Feel naked without my Streak!
Have you tried removing the battery for a few minutes, and reconnecting to PC with vol+ ?
fastboot erasing anything is bugged on the streak
if you cant get it to work in qdl you likely have an unfixiable streak.
Have you tried using streakflash it is there on Streakdroid

I have had the battery off most of the day whilst i was at work.
Thanks for the replies, i'm going to have to keep trying but i'm not holding much hope right now.

Isn't that just an older version of the qdltool?
I'll give it a bash anyhow, but the computer isn't even recognising that there is a device attached.

I got exactly the same problem, dead with fastboot erase system -w, not found way to get it back, non of tool work for me cause computer did not detect new hardware when I hold Vol-up and plug it to PC.
I am thinking about someone can backup their internal-SD for me to try restore mine one (tear-down is needed), but noone reply me if they have way to backup their SD for me to try. (my DELL's system was 31800-EU when he died)
i've bitten the bullet and sent it back to dell to see if they can fix it. i've bought a vodaphone 845 in the meantime so iv gone from the biggest phone to one of the smallest androids! We are certainly spoiled with the streak's spacious screen...

Your are still lucky to hace DELL rep near by you, can send it for repaire, maybe with less money, but I am totally differrent, I dont have DELL rep here, dont even know where to send it for repaire.
So my dad just bought a Dell Streak off craigslist and he came home with it and there are a TON of problems with it. First off, its purple and I have never seen a Purple Dell Streak. Second, the 3G doesn't work, it can't get system updates for some reason, its laggy, and when I try to put it into fastboot it gives me this other weird screen that asks me if I want to test stuff, and doesn't even mention anything about fastboot mode so im stuck.
It's also stuck on 1.6 and I have no idea where to go from here. I was able to root it though.
Has anybody else gotten one of these weird purple dell streaks? any advice?
It could be an aftermarket shell or something regarding the purple,
could you take a screenshot of the about screen and write down what it says exactly in fastboot mode?
no problem...
I can't get into fastboot, but when I boot it into bootloader mode it gives me the following menu:
MMI BB test
X MMI wireless test
X *#7589
X Dock test
Device info display
SD download
X USB massstorage
X Auto loop test
Into DIAG mode
Factory Reset
Clear flag
and at the bottom of the screen it gives me the following highlighted in purple:
DT: A2.503 Built Date: Oct 12 2009, 14:04:14
and since i am a new member, I am not allowed to post links but heres the information in the about device tab:
Model Number: MO1M
Firmware Version: 1.6
Baseband version: AUS_GAUSB1A1001251
Kernal Version: 2.6.29-perf
OEM Version: unknown
Build Number: 77720
I also forgot to mention that the android market is not available, and none of the stock google apps are loaded such as navigation, maps etc.
oh! you have a pre-release rom, those are extremely rare and it's likely one of the units quisda/dell used when they were making the streak.
there's a possibility that it's not even hardware identical to a retail streak since it's likely half a year older then the first retail streaks.
If you could make a nandroid of that it'd be great, considering it's age it might not be a good idea to try loading a retail rom onto it.
ok, how would I do the nandroid?
and also, will I be able to fix my phone? lol it super laggy and doesn't work very well...
Do you know how to use fastboot? if you do install streakmod in the dev forum
if you dont, use multirecovery flasher and install streakmod though that
When I try to boot into fastboot, it loads the menu above. Is there another way to boot into fastboot?
I dont know, if the fastboot button isnt there it's because it has a different program loader
Are you entering fastboot mode correctly? it's shutter +power during power on
oh well, I guess i'll just play around with it and maybe ill figure something out...if you learn anything let me know
thanks

yepp, and it brings up the above screen...
you might want to try other random button combos during boot up and see if any of them work
Thanks for the tip, holding the volume down button put it into fastboot. Im going to try to flash streakmod now and see if it works...
ok I flashed streakmod recovery and now my streak won't start anymore. I am able to put it in fastboot mode, but when I try to start my streak the screen goes black after the dell logo, and it doesn't boot.
That doesnt sound right, how did you install it? flashing a rec shouldnt do that
I flashed it using multirecoveryflasher and then rebooted and then held both volume buttons and then selected 'software upgrade from update.zip'. The screen went blank after I selected that, so I waited, and still nothing happened so I had to take out the battery. I tried to start the phone after that and now it won't go past the dell logo and just shows a black screen. I tried connecting it to a computer and that didn't work either.
try and find safe mode, on a normal streak it's vol up + power
mabye that would help?
If you have the ability, join us on irc.freenode.net, #dellstreak
This way we can do something real time. I know TheManii has real interest in ALL of the variants of the ROM and devices, and he is there frequently. Hopefully we'll see you there.
could you please upload one or two photos of the purple streak? would love to see what it looks like
any word on this, i have the same one
If you have a prototype streak, it's worth absolutely nothing as a normal phone. Anything you install will just brick it and you wont be able to fix it.
Only thing it's worth is for the prototype rom on it
I bought a factory refurbished streak off of eBay a few days ago. One day it froze randomly.
Afterwards, it turned on with a blank black screen and with the LEDs on.
I tried QDL Tool (Both versions), and I get SUCCESS with "streakflash"
As for "repairtool" I get a hang at ADB-- However, after it times out, my phone goes into ADB mode and I am able to use fast boot. I manually flashed all the files in the 'images' folder as per this post http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/7108099-post3.html, but it still turns on with a blank black screen. Battery door seems to be on securely. Does anybody have any idea of what I could do? I'm calling Dell, but I doubt they'll honor any warranty since I bought it off CL.
It has been a while for me since I had to flash from start, but why not boot into FASTBOOT, then send the recovery IMG to it then restore factory stock image, or the streakmod recovery image and then flash whatever rom you want onto it.
I got into fastboot, flashed recovery, boot, system, and userdata. Still black with blank screen, no matter what combo I try. Any other suggestions?
Have you tried installing just the recovery.img file and corresponding stock pkg file?
I've flashed recovery, then no button combos will let me into recovery. Everything I try brings me to a blank lit up black screen with the LEDs occasionally on/off.
ok heres what i have deducted...
I can get into fastboot mode normally, with camera and power, then pressing where the fastboot button should be.
I'm guessing my phone's screen broke, somehow, randomly, while I was playing with a rom. weird.
Try a different recovery from the streak wiki.

If you're able to see your screen to get into fastboot, then I don't see how it could be your screen.

Guess I didn't make myself clear--
When I turn it on in fastboot mode, the screen lights up black--then I press the area where the button for fastboot is, and it boots into fastboot mode (I know this because if I connect a cable at this point, I can flash with fastboot). The screen remains lit and black the entire time.
Another bricked streak
since you used streakflash that gives you all base drivers for 2.2 so you have to use a stock 2.1 recovery or clockwork to get android back.

did you read the rest of the thread? the screen is broken, i've reflashed everything through fastboot.
Check your internal screen cables?
I just got a used Streak 5 off eBay, and it would light with the Dell logo, but no touchscreen ability (seller replaced broken screen, but it would not work right). I could see the options for the recovery/startup stuff, and could use the buttons for selections/actions, but anything involving touch did not work. I took it apart several times to fiddle with the cables several times, but it took very carefully reseating them all the way in, and flipping down the cable clamp on the socket for the one that needed that (then putting its rubber cushion on top to hold it down it seems).
My point is, reseat those 3 screen cables in the connection sockets fully, and carefully - might yield "magic".
The other issue I had with the unit was that it took me a few tries at looking at all the closeup details in tear-down pix (on Pocketables I think) to finally realize that the (really) internal microSD (not visible till the back cover is removed to expose that and the screen cables) for /data and /cache (think those are the dirs on that card) was missing. The seller stated cardS not included, and i missed that trailing "s" at first. Several attempts at factory restore went nowhere until I figured out that was missing, and put a new card in there - more "magic"! DUHHHH
I'm afraid I already know the answer but I'll try anyway. I tried to root my Dell Streak 5 and now it hangs on the Dell logo when it boots. I'm unable to boot into recovery (both volume keys and power) or fastboot (camera key and power). When I connect it to the PC Windows recognizes it as Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM. Does anyone know of anyway to recover it?

It's amazing that the number of people keep on saying they bricked their Dell Streak, let me say that it's virtually impossible to brick your streak beyond recovering!

Thanks, at least I know all hope is not lost. The trouble I have is EVERY guide I've managed to find includes the instructions to either place the phone in recovery mode or fastboot mode. I can press the camera key and power key for as long as I want but it's still stuck on the Dell logo. I'll continue to search for a guide that explains how to fix this.

Thanks a lot awexdasome! While I was PMing you I googled the error message that I received when I ran into a streak of good luck, no pun intended. I bumped into this thread http://forum.pocketables.net/showthread.php?t=9014 which told me to use the streakflash version of QDL and my phone now boots into Android!
No more worry about bricking your Dell Streak ever again, nice one.
I followed everything in this thread and the one linked. Streakflash seems to work and ends up successful but when I go to the regular QDL. It says Waiting for ADB Device then fails at like 41 seconds. The Streak stays on with just the backlight on and buttons. I can not go into fastboot mode nor Recovery. Any help would be great. my thinking is I might have to send it out to someone with the JTAG box but if I can get this done in my house that would be great!

Actually, I only did the Streakflash. I checked to see if it worked after that and my phone booted into android so I decided not to try my luck and didn't do the regular QDL.
