[Q] Stuck after 2.2 OTA Update from Build 6601 - Streak 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought from ebay an AT&T Dell Streak with build 6601 which is then unlock with a 6 digit code to let it use in Malaysia.
Yesterday, I finally able to have the System Update page point to a 2.2 update. I follow all the instructions until I fully download the 155MB "Streak_340_14844_31.pkg". When I click on update and it reboots twice but now stuck at a page with

Press the Volume Down button to power off.

if I don't do anything I will reboot twice and finally will end up at this page again.
If I shutdown the phone and on it again, it will also end up at this page.
Please help me . From Malaysia, I am not sure how to contact Dell support.
What should I do?

I was in similar situation. Two things I would do.
(1) Rename Streak_340_14844_31.pkg to Update.pkg, put into sdcard, and do recovery reboot (both volume buttons pressed, power on).
(2) If that does not work then follow instructions at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=778397&highlight=downgrade+baseband to do actual device reset to 6601 build that is deeper than facotry reset as it fakes actual clean update form previous verion to 6601 build. Then do (1)
Good luck!

Hong Kong ver of Android v. 2.2
As you are in Malaysia you may want to use the Hong Kong version of Android 2.2. This way you won't be locked out of creating a WiFi hotspot or tethering like in the AT&T 340 rom. Since I'm a new poster they won't let me give you the URL to download the Hong Kong version, but you can search for it. The Hong Kong version 2.2 is labeled Streak_322_12947_11.pkg on the Dell website. Place it in the root directory of your streak and follow the instructions you received for installing other version of 2.2. Good luck!

Mine one is originally the "AT&T Locked" version, which was then unlock with 8 digit unlock code, can I switch to ROM of other region just like that? Will the update check for it? Now still stuck without Android and not sure which update.pkg to put into the SDCard

Rename File
Sorry. I may have tried to get you to jump into the deep end of the pool. It is probably best for you to follow the instructions from x21user above. The most critical step is renaming the update file, "Streak_340_14844_31.pkg", to "update.pkg". Good luck!

Network unlock issue after changing ROM [Urgent!]

Hey,
Tonight, I updated my ROM to VillainROM 10.3 FINAL and installed the latest radio along with it. Now, when I boot the phone, it is asking for a SIM network unlock code, but I can access the phone if I change it to Airplane mode.
How can I fix this? I have found a guide called "How To Unlock HTC Hero (especially the Orange UK)".
Do I need to follow this guide? Also, on the unlock codes website, it says "Old HTC Hero ROMs from operator Orange UK contain a bug that prevents the unlock code from being accepted by certain phones. In order to unlock your phone it must be running the latest firmware ROM Version:2.73.61.66 for Orange which is an official firmware upgrade that fixes this bug. To check what version is installed on your phone, press Home > Menu > Settings > About phone > Build number.".
Does this mean I need to be running the original firmware again or will it be okay to do it with VillainROM 10.3 installed?
Please help ASAP. All help is appreciated.
Thanks
Jamie
*Sorry I couldnt link the other threads, it wouldnt let me.
ISSUE FIXED, PLEASE IGNORE. I simply flashed back to 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26.
Thanks.

[Q] Root with the wrong flash.. Help...

Dear all,
i updated my X10i from RB1A014 into RB2A020 (Singapore) , then, i was trying to root it, but unfortunately i root it with wrong flash tool (that meant for R2BA024 >> R2BA026)...
I then go back to SEUS to refresh my X10i (Singapore should only up to R2BA020) , and now the number stay at R2BA026.... I was very puzzled... Is it a real "026", or because the system files had been over written by the flash tool i used wrongly?
How do I do to root my x10i, and to update to R2BA026??
Please advice....
Thank you...
Go to the X10 lock screen, and do this key sequence.
Menu Back Back Menu Back Menu Menu Back
Then go to Service Info -> Model Info to find out which ROM brand you are using.
Then for firmware version checking. Go to Settings -> About Phone then scroll down.
If it shows R2BA026 then it is R2BA026.
You can always redo the whole rooting step all over again to get at least R2BA024 with root access. I don't know how to get R2BA026 with root access.

So, Xeviro, had you did any update recently? What is your X10i software status?
i haven't try to do update again on SingTel firmware yet. now running R2BA024 with root access. i have my SingTel firmware decrypted and can be flashed with flashtools, later next new root comes, i will try. I doubt they have new update for Singapore firmware, last time people having update 23 already while SingTel still stucks with 14.
your's is also from SingTel?
i am Starhub user, and i update the firmware via SEUS...
the first time i update it was version 20...
then, i completed the step1 of flash.. then realise i do it wrongly.. and stop there...
then, i go refresh my X10i with SEUS, and then, it shows version 26...
anyway. no worry. if your aim is FW 26 with root access. just go through this steps
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=740240 or you can follow the main root thread.
just redo the whole root process again without worry, X10 is hard to brick
If you want to go back to StarHub FW (is there's any) then hopefully you have the previous ROM FW14 or FW20 in back up, then you can reflash again or even decrypt it.
If don't have StarHub FW in back up, then you might need to find other X10 with StarHub FW to make a backup so later you can use to reflash in case you need to go see CS for repair or anything.
Also maybe there are possibility that StarHub is using other different FW than SingTel that might have FW26 ready for update. You just key in the key sequence and check for the phone FW brand.
By the way is the first FW installed in the phone for StarHub X10 have any StarHub customization inside? My SingTel X10 have Live Traffic in Timescape. If it doesn't have any maybe its Generic FW.

Firmware Reflash for return

I seem to have the all too common problem with my X10 where it reboots when under lots of load.
I've decided i want to return it, however i'm currently using a rooted Nordic firmware, and i'd like to return the phone to standard before taking it to the store.
The phone is a Vodafone UK model (SI 1232-4285)
I've altered the settings inside build.prop to reflect the above number, rebooted the handset, then tried to reflash the firmware, however the PC Companion updater tells me "There is no software available for your phone yet, please try again later.", then ends, without actually performing the repair.
Any ideas?
It's not the SI that you want.. it's the build number which you can get from a link in here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=828163
and make sure that you reboot the phone after amending the details before you to to reflash.
Thanks for that.
Looking at this line:
X10i VFE-UK VFE 1234-4579 1232-4285 Vodafone UK/Sensuous black
I presume i should be setting it to 1234-4579 then?
Unfortunately in the mean time, i decided to try flashing the original operators firmware, which i downloaded from the developer section, and now the phone is booting to a vanilla 1.6 OS but asking for a SIM network unlock PIN...
think you'll need to find a new firmware and reflash.. then you can try again with the firmware code.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=936733
and yes... 1234-4579
Thanks,
I downloaded flashtool and the latest 2.1 world generic and those flashed on just fine. The phone then started working again and i managed to root it, reinstall root explorer and correctly edit the build number.
SEUS then happily repaired the phone to the latest Vodafone UK firmware.
Things get stranger though, as i then tried to restore my backup i made on the old firmware to get all my contacts etc back. First couple of times i tried it the phone rebooted, so i left it to charge over night, and tried again this morning with a full battery. Backup Restore went perfectly, and it told me to reboot the phone.
Cept now it wont turn on. The phone vibrates momentarily upon pressing the power button, but does nothing else
Is it possible that some "system settings" from my backup have conflicted with the new firmware?
I'm going to try another repair now and see if that will get it working again.
you can't restore your old firmware on top of the existing firmware.. at least not without losing the existing.. If you want your old contents back but not the firmware then you'll need to restore just those elements.. what did you use to back up with?

[Q] Unable to unlock SGH i777 with correct code

I have an SGH i777 Samsung S2 from AT&T and I have the unlock codes directly from them.
CASE: CM20150320_101115272
MOBILE: 6613804001
IMEI: 358055040069439
UNLOCK CODE: 79073737
We have reviewed your request and confirmed that the device may be unlocked.
Please allow 24 hours upon receipt of this notification to complete the unlock process.
To unlock your device, simply:
1. Power off the device, remove the battery, and insert a non-AT&T SIM card.
2. Re-insert the battery and power on the device with non-AT&T SIM.
3. The device displays” Enter the device unlock code.”
4. Enter the eight-digit unlock code once.
5. Press OK.
When I have tried to enter the Network unlock code it replies to me that it is unsuccessful. I have spoken to AT&T and to Samsung directly and neither are able to provide me with solutions. The phone has been working perfectly for the last 2 years and it only gave me this problem when I upgraded to a newer version and since then I can't use the phone application at all. It wiped all of the data on the phone but I can now access the other apps other than the phone. It should be noted that the SIM card is not from AT&T but from an international provider. I have also done a reset of the phone to the factory settings and that also didn't help.
I have also attached screenshots of the Kernel and phone version.
Does anyone have any solutions that they can offer with this?
Hi,
It looks like Carrier Lock .. AT&T is Carrier Locked Device hence when you enterted SIM of other Provider this issue may have popped . Please standby when we move your Thread to AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Good Luck!
@Avinoam1, your question was already answered by @creepyncrawly in the thread you started, please go there.
Thank you for helping, @jackeagle.

I777UCLD4 is not an official release. It was a pre-release leak before the official I777UCLE5 version of 4.0.3 ICS. I would recommend that you install an official firmware, preferably the latest version available which is I777UCMD8, which is 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. You can download the firmware from the Download Repository. If you need additional assistance installing the latest stock firmware, just ask.
I'm not sure if the operating system version has anything to do with your inability to use the official unlock code, but you should be able to unlock the phone with the free version of GalaxSimUnlock which, as Steve said, I posted a link to before.

Current version is not available for user. can't find matched cust for NT-code mcc/mn

hello. on vodafone firmware 10d, i try to flash firmware kdz ver. 10e from wind or 10g from tim italy, but that is the advertisement i have after flashing and second reboot. i reset already but at every reboot the same advertisement. when i click on OK, the phone boots, but i want remove this error. can anyone tell me if is possible??
i use lg up
thanks
That's been covered plenty of times in the G5 (and even G3) forums, for example here:

If you use the search you'll find even more threads with it.
doesn't work the hidden menu access
with TWRP or root file explorer, navigate to root/cust and delete all folder content then reboot
you'll see message will no longer show up after reboot
i am not rooted
with no root there is no way as far as I know
hi, can you tell me where you found the v10g kdz? i only managed to find the wind v10e (and doesn't solve the direct sunlight issue)
thank you (anche in pm se vuoi)
v10g KDZ is only for some carriers
note: the base is kind of the same for lets say v10d OPEN EUR kdz and v10g carrier kdz, so thinking that installing v10g carrier branded version does not mean you are more updated then v10d OPEN EUR
Thank you!
I went to sell my G5 today, and the shop refused to buy it because of that pop-up on boot.
Just curious though, now I have erased the folder, what would happen if I -
a) Unroot
b) Relock the bootloader
I am on a global stock rom V-20v I believe.
I want my Virgin Moble UK G5 to think it's H3G in order to get WiFi calling to work. So instead of deleting all the files in '/cust' I updated op_list.cfg & cust_path_mapping.cfg by adding the missing MCC/MNC code from the error message and pointing them to the same place as the H3G entries, in my case
'23430,FF=/OP/H3G_COM'.
The phone now boots up without the 2 error messages (OP name by Buyer Code & Current version is not available) but I get the 'Buyer Code' message a few minutes after booting.
I'm not sure if changing the files, or deleting them is best. But with the files updated, looking at the Global Settings via ADB shows that wfc_ims_enabled=1
