[HELP][Q] Bricked or soft-softbricked Vibrant - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

(Not sure if i posted in the right section before, im really worked up. Ive been flashing roms for months, and i just cant believe this happened)
Ok, so before, I went to install the Simple Galaxy rom, and i forgot to disable VooDoo .. When I boot my phone, its tied together between the stock Samsung Galaxy X screen and the Auxura Rom (which i am came from + with the honeybread port)... I know im only soft bricked, so at least i know i can SOMEHOW fix this.. I can get into download mode and recovery, but when i got to recovery and choose install ZIP from Sd card, it tells me nothing is there. I tried factory reseting it,..Can ANYONE help me with this. Please guys, Im in BIG need of help..
Edit- I got Odin to work, Im going to see what happens next

If you can get into download mode and can use ODIN, why not just go back to stock and do everything over again?

Here is all you will need get these files
Eugenes froyo that does not brick
512 pit file
Stock JFD rom
Odin 1.70 or higher
Then follow this :
1. Download Eugenes 'Froyo that does not brick' file.
2. Extract the files.
3. Open Odin, plug in your phone, then put it into download mode.
4. load the PIT file in appropriate area.
5. load the .tar file in the PDA area.
6. DO NOT check 're-partition'.
7. Click start, let it finish. Your phone will load and reboot into stock recovery. It will error out again. DONT panic! This is what's supposed to happen.
8. Now, pull your battery.
9. Load the JFD rom for the vibrant'.
10. Extract the files.
11. Once again, open Odin, plug in your phone, put into download mode.
12. Load the PIT file into the appropriate area and the .tar in the PDA area.
13. THIS TIME you want to check the 're-partition' box.
14. Now click start, let it finish, and this time your phone will load up just fine!
15. Then, root the phone and you can flash your new Rom.
doing this method will get everything back to normal and the phone will work just like it did right out of the box
Hope you get it going

I had something similar happen, now I can get out of recovery mode (it says
Code:
[LEFT]update media, please wait
E:Can't mount /dev/block/stl10
(Invalid argument)
E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount DBDATA:
your storage not prepared yet, please use UI me
nu for format and reboot actions.
copy default media content failed.[/LEFT]
)
I tried reinstalling Foryo stock (KA6) still didn't work.
What is the difference between KA6 and JFD?

JFD = 2.1 - Elcair
KA6 - 2.2 - Froyo
I would odin back to stock 2.1 (JFD) has always worked for me.
You might need to odin using the "repartition" checked...

i flashed clockwork recovery and then kings kernel then when i reboot it goes to the big s then the screen turn black
i tried wiping all the user data and cache and it still does the same thing?
can i get out of this situation or am i bricked for life i justgot my vibrant today!
How long did you let it sit on the black screen for? That has happened to me before but after a few minutes it booted with no issues. Good news is your not bricked for life.
it is till on the black screen i try to flash jacs kernel and halfwy it stop and automatically goes to the main clockwork recovery menu?
i tried using odin but it wont recognize my phone even after i put it in download mode
If your running ji6 you have to flash kernel back support first then the custom kernel or you will get stuck at vib screen.
Bionix Final w/JACs UV/0C
okay i flashed stock ji6 with odin and now it is still stuck at the Big S screen
Take the battery and sim card out then odin back to ji6. After that if you want a custom kernel for ji6.first down load the kernel back support zip, then the custom kernel zip. Go into clockwork recovery flash kernel back support then flash custom kernel then reboot.
Bionix Final w/JACs UV/0C
i dont want the kernel all i am saying is that i have already went back ji6 3 times and it always gets stuck at big s screen

If only you were here on october
I was so scared I thought I bricked and since I was new to odin I didn't know how to use. People told me to use kernel back suport and stuff
What would've happened if there was no eugenes froyo? It would just keep getting stuck on galaxy s screen even if going to stock

[Q] UNFIXABLE Brick?

Alright, here's the breakdown.
-I was on 2.1 Bionix Final R1
-Tried flashing beta 4 voodoo 2.1 kernel while on OCLF.
- wouldn't boot
-tried to ODIN
-Odin failed becuase i got Data Wipe Failed
-Tried the ODin that doesn't brick, didn't work, got into recovery there, and got stuck,
-tried odining the JFD after this...failed.
What do? I need my phone badly, i keep getting "Data Wiped Failed" and black screen at boot, i can get into recovery but nothing i do works...
Open odin. ALWAYS OPEN IT FIRST. Take out battery, plug into Odin, hold down volume rockers and power. Without letting go of these buttons, put the battery back in. Your phone should show up on Odin and you should be able to revert back to stock
Sent from Bionix powered vibrant! If I helped, hit the thanks button!
Try odining again, but load the 512 pit file and try checking the repartition box on the left of the screen.

This is correct, if the phone doesn't go into recovery. If it can Then:
1. Odin 1.3 or higher I use 1.7 but not real important
2. Download original Vibrant rom
3. You will need the .pit file (this is for mapping) Try using the 831 pit file if 512 is not working for you
4. you will Eugene froyo that does not brick rom.
The order is as follows:
9. Download the 'True stock 2.1 firmware for the vibrant'.
You will have flashed back to the original software. From there, you can do anything,
The sbl could be an issue but this should get around that problem if not then may need to use adb .
Just make sure to remove sim and sd card if you havent all ready i would get the same error when i had those two still in my phone.
please check repartition first option to check from left an dall the other two options => also two more options below like clear cms

Flashed wrong kernel please help! Urgent!

I accidently flashed wrong kernel this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=982148
while i was on stock rom with stock kernel!
how can i go back! :S
i can get into CWM Recovery, but cant flash anything. Im on clockwork mod 3.0.0.5 now!
what can i do?
Need to fix it urgently!
For future reference you can only use CM7 kernels with CM7 roms. Your going to have to Odin back to stock kernel. In CM7 you can only get into download mode with 3 buttom method. Im assuming you know how to Odin?
i did reflash using odin, but now the phone turn on and i see the tmobile screen, followed by the samsung animation, the s, after which the screen turns blank. the touch sensitive buttons respond, i can see the light change as i touch them, but i see no difference on the screen. what should i do?
Do this,

This will get you back to stock
Good luck

You flashed wrong kernel.
EDIT: I made it short above just to let you know im trying to help. You flashed a kernel for GT-i9000, the international model, not SGH-T959, our Vibrants. Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728929 and download USB driver for your PC. Then go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=821625 and download Odin v1.7. And go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870480 and download one of Odin flashable .tar Voodoo kernels, KA6, KA7 or KB1 preferably. Try match it with your ROM just to be safe.
Install the USB driver. Then extract Odin3 v.1.7.rar and run the executable. Leave Odin open. Turn off your phone by pulling out battery, plug USB cord to your phone and to your PC, press and hold volume up and down buttons, and insert battery. You should be in Download mode, and Odin will recognize your phone and display a COM#. Now click on PDA button and select the .tar file you downloaded earlier. And press Start button and wait untill everything is finished and your phone reboots.
The initial boot may take a bit as Voodoo will convert your filesystem into ext4. You will hear voice telling you what's going on. And you should be good to go.
Just in case above instruction doesn't work (I personally never flashed an i9000 kernel), try reverting everything back to stock. Doing so will require a couple of additional files.
Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475 and download JFD Odin Image and 512 PIT file. Extract PIT file first. Then launch Odin, put your phone into Download mode, and in Odin press PIT button and select the 512 PIT file you just downloaded. And press PDA button and select JFD .tar file. This time make sure Re-Partition option is selected. And press Start. This take a bit longer than just flashing a kernel, but no longer than 5 minutes. Once you're back to stock (original released in July 2010), flash any other ROM of your choice.

I did the exact same thing just a few days ago. I asked on this forum and got some great help. I downloaded the new Odin Software v1.3 and also downloaded the stock Vibrant software. Put them all on your computer, extracted, and hold down just the 2 volume keys then plug in your usb cable. This will put you into download mode. Look in the Odin program and it should recognize your phone, if it doesnt then youll have to download the drivers again. Its in the Vibrant Bible. After all of that upload the Rom to the pda section in Odin and make sure you dont click anything else then push start. This will take a few minutes to load then your phone will reboot and your back to stock. This worked for me hope it works for you.
Thanks everybody, I used Baywolf's, hope his name is spelled correctly, Vibrant toolbox and got into Odin and reflashed my phone back to 2.1 stock, them Samsung Kies to 2.2 stock. Thanks for the replies
im having the same problem except that when i reflash my phone to stock and try to turn on my phone again it wont...i have to reflash it everythime i want to turn it on and it deletes everything everything

[Q] MBR Errors, Voodoo Lag Fix, Partition Issues & Other Shennanigans

Hello good people,
Goal: Upgrading T959UVJFD (2.1) to T959UVKB5 (2.2) w/ Voodoo Lagfix & Root
Tools available: Odin3, 512.pit, both stock roms, KB5+Voodoo kernel
Problem: I can accomplish everything but properly flashing the KB5+voodoo kernel.
Issues:
"Not enough space on partition"
Tried to partition through Clockwork Recovery Mod, and now have MBR checksum errors
Please help:
How do I correct the MBR checksum errors on the internal SD (I've tried Partition Manager on PC as well as chkdsk /r)
How do I properly install Voodoo lagfix when I don't have enough partition space, and attempting to fix that drives the phone wacky?
Additional Notes:
There is no vital information or files on the phone.
Thank you for your time. =0)
Shennanigans! LOL i love that werd! Man i got stories bout that haha!
Usually if I'm unsure i just start from scratch. Skip any step if you feel your phone is past that point. This is just what I would do:
ODIN to stock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475
Root - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723479
Gain CWM recovery - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870480
Flash ROM of choice(i assume ur going for this?:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1036193 if so keep in mind you'll wanna use the CWM flash as stated in OP. Good luck!
Looks like you have the same issue as mine. can you post your partition layot using parted?
Here is how you fix your problem (and any problem) on the Vibrant. Make a nandroid back up and backup through titanium. Then copy the whole int sd card with all that data on to the computer.
then: Depending on your problem you can follow this guideline OR--- you can just do the JFD only depends on what your phone is doing to you..........
1. Download Eugenes 'Froyo that does not brick' file.
2. Extract the files.
3. Open Odin (use 1.7 or higher), plug in your phone, then put it into download mode.
4. load the PIT file in appropriate area.
5. load the .tar file in the PDA area.
15. Then, root the phone Then> download Rom Manager and then> you can flash your new Rom.
doing this method will get everything back to normal and the phone will work flashing a new rom without problems just like it did right out of the box
good luck
Thanks Everyone
Hey guys,
Just as an update, I used Odin and got everything stock 2.2, then I followed the instructions in a stickied thread to get the "green" version of ClockwordMod on it and have it rooted.
I then installed the Dead Horse Kernel which has been a blessing. I don't know if that MBR error is still going on, but it hasn't caused me any issue.
I suggest everybody who is looking to have rooted stock 2.2 w/ some nice extras go w/ Dead Horse... doing straight up Voodoo Lagfix will just cause you grief if you're not an advanced person.
Thanks for the replies. I'll be bothering you all again in the near future. =oD
Awesome! Glad you got it werkin!
