x10 UK warranty - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought the phone in september with 1 year warranty.
recently I started noticing that my phone wont charge sometimes, it seems that micro usb hole is damaged.
will warranty cover this ?
and if it does
could anyone help me out with warranty, cause i have no idea when I need to send it
thanks.

It should cover it as long as it's not been abused! You should initially go back to where you got it from.

Dead pixel on screen

Hi guys,
Just today I noticed I have a dead pixel somewhere in the bottom left of my screen. When I start up it stays white-ish. It's a little dot. I got this phone with a contract, what should I do? I still have the warranty.
I doubt that warranty will cover it, because law mandates that a certain number of dead pixels are acceptable...
You can try and apply local pressure (gently at first then press harder till it works), just press on and around the pixel. The aim is to massage the pixel which can fix some causes of a stuck pixel...
Not guaranteed to work, but has worked for me in the past with other devices.
I wouldn't recommend pressing with anything other than your finger or you risk damaging it...
Just tell your phone company it won't turn on and they'll send a guy to swap it at the door if your in the UK and up to 6 months into your contract

Whaaat? What network are you with?!
Orange. If your within 6 months it's within the sale of goods act and I've had about 3 or 4 replacements in the past from them. Intend on doing it soon cause the edges on my white x10 are rubbing off.
You'll need to flash to stock but just run SEUS and reflash that

They post it to your door? (im with tmobile)
Yeah a wee dhl dude turns up. They only replace the shell, not the battery, battery cover, memory card or sim but none of these bits become dodgy.
Make sure you come up with a decent "it doesn't work" story and when they tell you to do factory reset etc say uve tried all options but just get a flashing green light or something

Ohhh, you mean a DHL dude picks it upp, it gets shipped off and repaired then sent back?
No he turns up with a new shell then swaps it for your one after making sure imei is right

:O Wow, T-Mobile send it away for a week to repair it.
That's damn good service!
O2 have always delivered to my door within 48 hours, almost always next day tbh, and the driver takes the defective phone back at the same time.

Ill make sure to mention that if i have to make another warranty claim, thanks

[Q] Repair tips

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has experience with t-mobile phone repairs.
I seem to have fried the battery circuitry in the phone. I was playing with my phone and noticed it stopped charging when I plug it into the computer. So I turned it off, plugged it into a wall charger, nothing. Then I tried swapping batteries. When I try to turn on the phone, i get an empty battery sign(even with a 80% full battery). So now I got a phone as useful as a brick.
I bought it in August, so it's still under warranty, think t-mobile will fix it? My main problem is that I also have a crack on my screen and I once dropped it in water(then dried with rice), neither problem has killed the phone and it has been working for months since the last adventure. I'm afraid that a cracked screen and/or a tripped wetness sensor will make it look like that's what killed the phone, even though it just died on own
What is the best way to proceed? Should I go to a brick&mortar store? Should I do this online? Try VISA's extended warranty? If they make me pay for a replacement phone, how much is that usually?
Might have 2 fork up 115 situation not sounding to good my boy but I sent in vibe that said att on start up an got away

Double srry
repair
the best thing for you to do is look on craigslist for a used one you can buy off someone or ebay. once that sensor has turned color and it is evidence that it got wet, all warranty coverage is null and void. don't waste your time with them. as for the store, they don't handle warranty issues.
So there is nope in them giving me a deal on a refurb vibrant[4G]? I'm on prepaid, so no incentive for them I guess.
I really like my vibrant, sad to have it finally die after all these near-death experiences

Multiple issues with SII

Hi,
My phone dropped in water about a week back. I immediatly took out battery, sim and SD card and kept the phone like that for around 2 days. After that I started my phone, everything is working fine but there are some issues as mentioned below:
1. The phone always keeps on changing between Charging and not-charging when the charger is removed.
2. If I try to shut down phone using "Power-Off" option, the phone restarts instead of getting switched off.
3. If I remove battery, then it keeps on showing Battery (same as first point changing between charging and not charging)
My phone is still under warrenty, but I am not in India where I purchased it from, I am in Saudi Arabia.
Please let me know if there is any solution to this problem?
There are hundreds of threads about this sort of thing.Rice and that alcohol based cleaning solution spring to mind.
Youve maybe got to replace battery and usb port.It all depends.
As for warranty-them nuggets that brick their phones seem to get it,but youd have to remove all traces its been water damaged for Samsung to do it.
Good luck anyway

2 days is not long enough. Week minimum, but since you already turned it on, the damage is done. Its now replacing hardware parts and as mentioned above, warranty is gone. Why should samsung warranty a phone that abuse broke.

galaxy s3 sudden death issues with Vodafone

i will keep it short and sweet.
my phone suffered from sudden death few weeks back. It wouldn't switch on or charge. It was working 100% fine the night before the morning where phone was dead.
anyways I called Vodafone and they said that's okay Sir we will do an exchange basis. I.e courier comes with a refurbished Samsung galaxy s3 in exchange for my phone and that should be the end of it.
However few days ago i received a letter for a charge of £100 for liquid damage.
Now the thing is phone has never been near water ever as far as I'm aware so I'm baffled
For time being i have paid charge as it was added to my phone bill.
anyways I have uploaded a picture they sent me of the so called water damage. I'm concerned that's its a scam and they have taken picture of another phone or put water on board them self.
I said i would be happy to return exchanged phone for damaged one i sent in but they refused and said Samsung wouldn't honour the warranty anyways as it has water damage.

One its a question in the wrong forum .
Two Samsung does not cover water damage if the indicators show .
Three water damage not an uncommon problem on any mobile phone .
Four having a repair and then getting a bill later is due to them exchanging the product and finding waranty was void after the exchange presuming it was SDS .
If it had gone back for repair and no exchange you would have been informed of the cost first .
jje
You need yo take this to the vodafone forum, this is a common occurrence wiyh them.
Rthe moisture strips can become 'activated` from many things out of your control and if this happens vodafone will NOT repair under warrenty. This is where (as you will be instructed by many established member on the vodafone forum) that you need to send to samsung approved repair centre, as there are apparently firther water damage markers inside the phone which give a better indication of water damage.
My personal instructions, but you are free to go your own way, contact vodafone, instruct your phone be returned (if they have give you another return that one) and send phone to samsung directly. You will no doubt have a different and better outcome.

This is why you shouldn't go to your network provider... Just go to Samsung straight away and you won't get any bull****.
Liquid damage can also be triggered by sweat or rain.

[Q] Streak's charging port

Hey guys I need help regarding the charging port of dell streak. My phone is not getting charged but when I connect the charger and hold it a little downword it starts charging. I took it to the dell srevice centre and they said that soldering from inside is broken or damaged and they are asking to get a replacement done. I don't want to replace my phone. Any idea how can I fix it and bring it back to the working condition..?????
You should better go for replacement if yours is still under warranty. Any workaround might not be long lasting and cost of repair/spares will keep on increasing for this obsolete phone model.

I would have gone for the replacement option but the thing is my phone is no longer under warranty period.
Then it appears you'll have to pay up. Unless you know someone with the skills to repair or replace the port you're simply going to have to bite the bullet and replace your device.
