I want to uninstall Google Maps but I can't find how to do it. I've done a search on the subject but all I've found is how to uninstall the updates. I tried to use TiB but maps comes back after the phone is rebooted and I tried to use Root Explorer but I can't find any maps file.
Root explorer, system/apps/maps.apk

Thanks that's where it was hiding
A simple search in Root Explorer or similar app would have told you where the file is.

But if the app is installed you cannot use linda and find it..you wont...best way is by using root explorer...requires root...navigate to "data" ..then "app" and copy it from there

I did that before asking. If you find something please let us know.

Android/Google maps/cache..
The files are not named anything that you would recognize but time and date confirms, also it looks as tho offline storage auto deletes itself in 30 days. There is an older version (Google Google Maps 6.8.1 ) which allows storage and real use of offline maps using other apps..rnmaps I think..
Hope that helps

If it's a system application then you can find it if your device is rooted ..

Edward Cullen, no offense but that was a n00b statement. If he installed it by himself it cannot be a system application. Also, the file of any app (even user app) is available in /data/app
AND, rooted or not, the app Explorer by Speed Software allows you access to those system files. Only difference is that you cannot write, but you can find the file and COPY (not move) to /sdcard.

Zip files are not native to the device and are not recognized as valid files. You need to download an app that recognizes zip files like estrong file explorer then try redownloading.

Is it that you can't dl any type of file? What about apps? I ran into a somilar problem with a HTC inspire. There was a folder to delete that fixed it. There's a post around here somewhere for that.

Not really sure if this is gonna work, try installing Astro file manager, then go to "preferences" (or "options", idk, I have the app in spanish) and select the option "Web browser downloader" (or something like that)
Since I did that, I don't remember having issues to download any kind of file.

Haven't been on a Sense ROM in ages, but you have to disable the ota apk. Did a search and came up with this:
/system/etc/security: change otacerts.zip to otacerts.old

Are you not rooted? If you are, you should be able to use a file manager like ES to rename. You have to go into ES settings and turn on root features. I'm not sure I'd go deleting system files. You never know. If you're not rooted, well get on that.
Ok, thanks a lot! I download root browser and did it, thanks!
