the title say it all? any answers?
Haven't been on a Sense ROM in ages, but you have to disable the ota apk. Did a search and came up with this:
/system/etc/security: change otacerts.zip to otacerts.old
I cannot tename it, can i delete it?

Are you not rooted? If you are, you should be able to use a file manager like ES to rename. You have to go into ES settings and turn on root features. I'm not sure I'd go deleting system files. You never know. If you're not rooted, well get on that.
Ok, thanks a lot! I download root browser and did it, thanks!

Is there a way we could install HTC messaging app on our vibrants? Maybe somebody has an apk file to try? I love Samsung one, but it lags so bad at times!

FYI, its not the htc app, but the default messaging app from CM 5.0.8 for the nexus one will install just fine on the vibrant, IF you have root, and delete the stock application.
cheers
Is there a stickey for doing such process?

Once you have root, you could either do it via adb, or go download root manager and delete stock app, then you should.be able to install the apk file of the other messaging client.

I want to uninstall Google Maps but I can't find how to do it. I've done a search on the subject but all I've found is how to uninstall the updates. I tried to use TiB but maps comes back after the phone is rebooted and I tried to use Root Explorer but I can't find any maps file.
Root explorer, system/apps/maps.apk

Thanks that's where it was hiding
A simple search in Root Explorer or similar app would have told you where the file is.

Anything Free for unrooted phones ?
You probably can't do it for non-rooted phones.
bcz there's 2 ways i know how
1) add free
2) root explorer and manually edit hosts.
both require root.
Yup all the ones I know require rooting as well......... root the phone
Flash this file, rooted or not. Bingo!
EDIT: by that, I mean throw the attached ClockworkMOD Recovery update.zip on the phone.
A revert flashable would be good for people that do that and dont want to root.
Thanks. I couldn't remember the name of the app. Thanks!

Edward Cullen, no offense but that was a n00b statement. If he installed it by himself it cannot be a system application. Also, the file of any app (even user app) is available in /data/app
AND, rooted or not, the app Explorer by Speed Software allows you access to those system files. Only difference is that you cannot write, but you can find the file and COPY (not move) to /sdcard.
