How can I increase the number of rings for incoming calls before it goes to voicemail? I have a Streak 5 , still running 1.6. Looks like the defaulted ring length is short.
Also I've downloaded Ringdroid (Free) , created several ringtons that was saved with 20 seconds or so . But going back to look at each, i am noticing these saved all at 14 second cutoffs. Looking for a good RT app that has no limit and the setting for my Streak that will increase number of rings before going to VM
Thanks in advance!

Thanks! I that format *#61*555555530# worked for me. However i am getting the response now saying "Voice:+15555555555 after 20 seconds" .
I am assuming that is the 30 second limit?

Ringdroid will make longer ringtones. When editing the file you can drag both the start and finish of the area you are cutting from the file. It does appear that the length indicated in Ringdroid is not the same as that shown when you play the created ringtone back. I made on that Ringdroid showed as 75 seconds but it shows up in the music player as 66 seconds,
These instructions work for me on AT&T. If you are having issues with the MMI code you can call AT&T customer service and have them change the setting.

You tried to make ringtones of different length and they all came back at 14.9 seconds? I tried it just before my previous post and as I wrote in my previous post a 75 second clip played back at 66 seconds for me. I'm using version 2.3
Edit: are you saving as a ringtone or notification tone?

Just checked and I am using version 2.3 as well. Saving as a ringtone, actually the file automatically saves with a "ringtone" as part of its file name. I've created one say 60 seconds, then play it back before saving it. Then when i close Ringdroid and reopen the app, scroll to the newly created ringtone, i can see where it 'shaved" the 60 second recording to 14.9sec. as if 14.9 is defaulted.
Ive made 3 sample rts , all with diffeerent lengths, and all three, when bringing them up again each show 14.9 seconds....odd. must be a setting that i cant locate.

When you save a ringtone there is a drop down box where you can pick the type of tone your are saving. It effects where Rindroid will put it.
Are you re-opening the edited tone with Ringdroid or a music app? When you open anything in Rindroid a sub-section automatically selected and the length of that is shown in the bottom left corner. The length of the entire fiel is displayed directly under the window where you select a section to cut.

You ARE dah man! Hey thanks, that was exactly what i was doing. When opening it via music player, it does play the entire ringtone! But, as you pointed out, when viewing it within Ringdroid (i keep thinking its named "ringrhoid" lol) it shows that subset (14.9 sec) and plays only that subset. Im happy now!!!
THANKS!

VAlert
Customize vibration on phone ring
This small program allows customizing vibration incoming call alerts.
Windows based phones vibrate either before the ring or constantly during the ring.
Having a short ringtone can possibly solve this problem, but with long mp3 ringtone the phone will constantly vibrate during the ring.
This program will enable Windows Mobile phones to produce short vibrations when the phone rings.
Vibration patterns can be easily changed by the user.
Possibly to match vibration patterns to the ringtone, so the phone will vibrate in a rhythm.
Very low (~4K) memory usage
This software is a freeware.
How to use
1. Install the CAB
2. Enjoy the program with default settings
3. The program is hidden by default. To display program window (if needed), run the program again
7. In Phone->Options make sure ring type is Vibrate and Ring
4. Edit script.txt to change vibration pattern. Every line in the file is a pair of vibration length and note pause
5. From the program window run Menu->Test to test the created pattern
6. Perform Menu->Hide to hide program window
What's new:
- More devices support, including non-HTC
- The installer executes the program upon installation (no soft reset required)
- No vibration on waiting call
- Support for incoming call ring mute (stop vibration)
- Silent start
- Even lower memory footprint - ~4K on standby (was 11K before)
sounds cool
gunna try now
you should make it so you tap the screen to show when u want it to vibrate instead of editing the .txt file
Edit: Great app but confusing to change the pattern
Edit2: lol doesnt seem to work on my vogue when i go to phone->options and press play its just a long vibrate
Ohh man i was about to post a thread on something like this. Thank you so much for making this!
Sounds nice. Will try it out. Thanks for sharing.

here's my version of the Nokia classic message vibration

Yeah, that's what I wanted to ask too! Would be awesome, would be a very useful app, thanks. And yup, maybe an easier way to edit vibrates would be nice. However, it's cool now, for a version 1.
Future versions
Post your suggestions. I am making a list of changes for the next version.
Suggestions :
- a settings UI on the device (instead of having to pull the txt file off to PC and edit and then put back in on device)
- ability to change between multiple vibrate scripts (via drop-down menu or list?)
- if possible (?) ability to use vibrate scripts for SMS / MMS / Email / Other alerts
- vibe scripts that match pattern with the actual ring / message tone would be VERY cool
excellent little program, thanks a lot for the effort
if the other message alerts can be changed from within this (or even just another separate small app) it's just what i'm looking for!
and please can other people post their script efforts, it'd be good to have several pre-sets to start out with.
there might be a slight bug in this
a few calls have come through recently, the vibrate kicks in itself and the ringtone does not play for about 10 seconds or so.
also the programmed pattern seems distorted.
it might just be my device, as i'm noticing that S2U2's full screen call ID has been struggling to kick in when a call comes in these days since i started using Manilla2D as well.
it might be that the device is struggling to find the ID picture and the ringtone and the vibrate pattern at the same time, all the while trying to run M2D.
i'd check if it works correctly without all these extras running, but M2D and S2U2 are pretty much essentials for me these days.
anyone else care to help?

That's not a delay. By default (there is a registry setting to change it) the ring is delayed by 2 seconds. VAlert does not have that delay, so it will always start vibrating 2 seconds before the ring.

Noise Tracker
Noise Tracker measures the loudness by taking an audio sample and calculating its mean average. The black bars are the mean values and the current wave is drawn in blue. Don't know yet what a real use case for this app could be. Anyway, hope someone will find it useful. Tested on a wm6 prof. device.
With 'Scale' the bars drawing height of the bars can be changed.
With 'Rate (ms)' the length (in milliseconds) of the audio sample can be changed.
Info
In case there are no bars visible, change the rate to > 400ms. (thanks nir36)
The measured values are not dB! Will be changed in the app (when some additional features will be implemented).
v1.1
select different channels if available
show bps
v1.2
auto volume setting (measures loudness every x minutes and adjusts the ringing volume)
Thanks,
heliosdev
this could actually help me with my studies.. thank you
What units is the maximum shown in?
The values are in dB and calculated using the root mean square on the audio data.
If x is the array with the audio data then it is
value = sqrt(1/n * sum(x1*x1+x2*x2+...+xn*xn))
Not sure if there is some 'magic' factor in the audio data, it's just an array of bytes.

how can that be that it is in dBs? the highest value I've gotten is around 2, normal sound would be 60+ atleast...
I'm getting values around 80 when playing some music or watching tv and holding the phone close to the speakers. I'll need to write some more info into a log file to find out the reason why you only get small values.

Is there a chance that you could put Shannon's formula inside this thing?
(that is, B*log(1+s/n)) to check the bandwidth used and the bps transfered each sec?
A great use for this would be to automatically turn up (or down) the in-call volume if there's a lot (or very little) of background noise.

The bps is calculated now. I'm not quite sure if the time (rate in ms) should be taken also in this calculation. Currently it isn't. Should this bps be multiplied by (recording time in ms / 1000)?
Btw, the used Bandwidth is 11025Hz.

(I'm not joking, you can find your phone that way...)
Seriously cool, thanks for the app! As others mentioned, if you could add a function where this thing could call or be called by opther programs it could be hugely useful. How about sampling the background noise every 15 min or so and adjusting the ring volume so I don't miss calls in noisy places or get a heart attack when someone calls me while I'm in bed reading a book. If it's sensitive enough it could be used to bug a room, when voices are detected it starts the voice recorder...etc., etc. TONS of possibilities!!

New version is up which sets the ringing volume. This needs to be tested because I haven't a second phone to call myself.
It takes the current loudness l and sets the ringing volume to:
l > 70 -> 5
l > 50 -> 4
l > 30 -> 3
l > 10 -> 2
else -> 1
I'm setting the registry value

The ringer delay that this changes is the pause between when the ringtone ends and it repeats. Not the delay from when the LED starts flashing (because a call arrived) till the phone actually starts ringing.
If you wish to turn off the HTC dialer and use the WM Dialer, simply goto the following registry entry,
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Security/Phone/Skin]
"Enabled" = dword:1change the Enabled value from 1 to 0 which will disable the HTC dialer.
I vote for converting to WAV files as well.
If you would like to complain to Sprint about it, the following is the thread I started on Sprint's forum regarding this very subject.

Depends on what you may have done (adding programs, etc..) to your phone. By default, our devices will turn the screen off to conserve battery while a call is in session. However, if you have added one of the S2A dialer GSM versions which was taken from the Touch HD, that feature was disabled because of the InCall curtain. The CDMA versions (my signature and others) were taken from the Sprint Diamond ROM that was released and still contains the necessary code to turn off the screen display while the call is in progress.
Smotrs...just HR'd and installing now. I haven't tried that one, and actually think I ended up with the GSM version I WAS using.
I'll let you know how it works.
Thanks...
Well, it still sits there while the screen "times" out. I thought the light sensor was supposed to dim the screen almost immediately. I'm on the call for 30-40 seconds before it dims, and then cuts off.
Is this a Sprint thing?

It should Dim after about 10 seconds (or whatever you have in the backlight Advanced setting under Battery). After about 40 seconds or so (same location) it should turn off the screen.
At least that's what mine does, just verified it again. Sounds like maybe your values are too high. After a HR they usually are by default.
Somehow it was at 30 (dim) and 1 min (off). That is a little high. Changed it to 10 / 40. We'll see what that does.
Thanks for the tip. I'll keep you posted.
Seems to now be working the way you explained!!! Thank you for the help!
Is there anything else out there, other than S2U2 that allow FULL SCREEN Caller ID pictures??? I don't want to reinstall that because the dialer is actually working right. I just miss full screen caller ID.
Thanks again.
That I don't know, sorry.
Eh...it's ok. I'd much rather have a dialer that works than a full screen picture of my ignorant brother.

Changed the SCI to 1. We'll see if that helps. There is always "0"!
I'm also seeing mixed reports/opinions on ACCOLC - Access Overload Class. Mine was defaulted at 8 on Sprint. People say leave it alone. People say set it lower. Others say set it higher.
i found that setting SCI to 1 is good enough, i'm able to catch my calls and haven't noticed decreased battery life from it so that's where mine stays.

CALLING
1.speed dialing - I wondering how its possible that modern phone doesn't have it??? There R 2 ways - first looong press on number or click on one number and then "dial"... These have a praistorical phones...
2.End call lock screen-(incoming) I notice that when I end my talking, screen locked it self...Even if dont answer or refuse call so I must unlock and then see missed call...
3.Call log-shows one same call-er in loooong list...is it better to show just last with options to show call history for that number
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
CAMERA
Need a lot of work on drivers...its just not that picture quality it has to be...
1.white balance -too much white on factory settings that make noise in artificially conditions (in house at night)
2.NO BEST PIC Great and very usefull shot-mode for driving of SE, so why they missed it in xperia models
3.Violet noise Sometimes i see this "ghost" when autofocus on lower light when there is a lite source at side of phone during picturing
MESSAGES
1.Message details - dont understand why we can't see detailes like sent time and recieved time...That what old SE phones has...So when I recieve sms, I cannot see when is send to me, just time when I recieved it...is it so hard to pu it...
VOICE RECIRDER
Am I stupid or I can't find this or is it POSSIBLE that modern phone doesn't have it????
MULTITASKING -
Phone dont have minimaze options, some app's stay but some not in ram after press midle botton...So I use Advanced task killer to get back to my working app's...
Regarding multitasking: have you tried long pressing the HOME (middle) button?
You will see the 8 last started application, and you can easily switch to them. Note that they might have been removed from the memory, but some apps can still restart into the same state.

Hey folks, question. Now it's driving me nuts how the notification and ringer volumes are connected now in ICS where as before we had the option to unlink them. I get emails all through the night but I can't turn my notifications down at night because it turns down the ringer, can't have that.
Anyone know of a way to break the link or am I just going to have to deal with it?
This seems to be a common issue with the ICS leaks. Unfortunately, I don't think any of the ROM developers have split them yet.
Very interesting.... I'll dig into it and see if we can't come up with a solution...
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk 2
I've tried 4 different apps to solve this prob and none work right. I use sound manager to turn off notifications at night but leave ringer on, but i can't get it working with those apps.
Hopefully its an easy fix to unpair them.

I've been using Audio Manager app to control my volumes, you can set schedules when volume levels are to be changed, I never had to do anything manually. I have enough stuff going on everyday don't need another thing to remember to do before passing out, lol. Good idea though, if it gets too bad I may have to give that a go.
Bought ICS Enhanced Ringer control from the market - $2.99.
It duz separate the ringer/notification link however it must be manually enabled/disabled.
I'm hoping the dev adds a scheduler, or a widget to make it easier to enable.
Either way, it works and solves the problem.
Hi there,
I just want to share that for ICS there is a tool on the market which can disable notifications at night, while still the ringer is "enabled", not muted.
Problem with ICS is that notification volume is directly linked to ringer volume. When you manually disable notifications, you will never hear your phone ring....which can be bad.
So:
In case I don't want to hear notifications at night, but incoming calls will ring as normal I use the following tool (free from market) :
"ICS notification silencer free"
With the free edition you can only define 'one' profile, with a start and end time when to disable notifications (example:sleeping time).
With the paid version you can define more profiles, depending on day etc.
I liked the free edition already as it has enough features just to disable notification when I am asleep.
Hope you enjoy this tool, and sleep well on ICS
Br.
Michel
Another solution
Ive been dealing with this since ICS first came out, and its been driving me nuts.
I need no text notifications at night, but the phone needs to ring if someone calls.
I tried ICS ringtone control and ICS Silencer. ICS ringtone didnt have a scheduler so I had to set it manually every night.
For the last week Ive tried Profile Scheduler and its worked perfectly. I assume other profile apps would work too, so
check them out.
Heres what I did. Create/download a silent ringtone mp3 - I named mine "Silence - 30sec". I then went under the
"Night" profile and made the notification sound that ringtone, and left all the volumes the way they are. I then created
a rule activating that profile from 10p-7a. I then changed 'conditions not met' to the normal profile, to change it back to
normal when its done. Under the normal profile, I made my ringtone my original one.
Good luck, and until ICS unlinks the sliders, this has worked best for me.
Linked Ringtone / Notifications volume

Hey folks, question. Now it's driving me nuts how the notification and ringer volumes are connected now in ICS where as before we had the option to unlink them. I get emails all through the night but I can't turn my notifications down at night because it turns down the ringer, can't have that.
Anyone know of a way to break the link or am I just going to have to deal with it?

Any updates?
Has anyone been able to separate the two?

I have flashed 5 different ROMs, and the only one (HTC Evo4G LTE) that separates them is CM10.
I ran it for a bit, but switched back to ViperRom, and use Phone Schedule app to simply change the ringtone
for my notification sounds, at whatever time I need.
I have a silent ringtone, and use it for notification sounds between 9p and 7a, and then it automatically
switches back to a audible music ringtone.
Hope this helps.

I think the linking of the two was a step backwards for 4.0. Hopefully this will be undone in future versions

I think they did it so when you turned the ringer volume up or down, the notification volume would go up our down accordingly, which is desirable behavior. But it is annoying if you need them to be controlled separately.
