When browsing my SD Card in Root Explorer I have a load of directories, some of which are quite obscurely named. I don't know if I need them or if they belong to old apps that I have deleted or contain partially out of date data.
Is there an app that will check the list of currently installed apps and their dependant directories and delete my leftover rubbish?
Lol... Dont delelete anything with root explorer -its for qdvanced usage/users.
Download a normal filemanager for non root. Safe to delete stuff

If i was in your place I'd leave it as it is,
you might need to install FW again because of few megabytes
How about SD Maid? Very good app for some cleanup, but needs root. Also try SCleaner!
Hi guys.
First off, Moderators, please do not move this question to the general questions and answers forum. This is specifically for Galaxy Ace users.
I'm usng E.S. File Explorer. Please confirm the following:
1. Stock apk files are located in /system/app.
2. apk files of apps that are downloaded from 'Market' and installed in INTERAL storage are located in /data/app.
3. apk files of apps that are downloaded from 'Market' and installed in SD CARD are
located in /mnt/asec.
If all three are correct, my question is:
What's all this talk from other users that apk files stored in my phone can be deleted to free up the internal storage?
I know I can't and should not delete the stock apk files (i'm not using custom ROM).
As for the ones in /mnt/asec, they cannot be deleted.
The ones in /data/app, I can delete but that would render the apps unusable.
What am I missing? I thought apk files from the 'market' can be deleted?
U r right with the location of the files...well you can delte some files in system/app to free up your system space and then use an app like titatium.backup to convert a user app into dystem app(note only some apps can be converted to work properly ..others will force close) ..thereby u can use ur rom.space too(i do it personally)....then u can also move ur dalvik cache into the sd card and GREATLY increase your internal memory..ull get tired installing apps but yhe space will never will up.. ..to do this u must root yr phone ..partition ur sd card and install link2sd ..its an awesome app
Dont forget to hit the thanks button if i helped ;-) ;-)

hi
i can't install titanium backup, i have had it install before, but know when i try to install it it says " not enough storage" but i can install all other apps
means u dont have enough space on phone..either delete some apps or use apps2sd to mov apps to sd card
But the wierd thing is that I have enough space, can install other apparently, and have around 500 mb left

What I did is...
On any file explorer that let you edit the system, go to /data/app/ and searcho for a file woth .odex extension and delete it, then try to install Titanium Backup from Google Play..
Done...
Hope it helps.

Well are you rooted? You need root, and to turn on root access in the settings of ES file explorer before you can access /data/app.
/data/app is not actually in either the internal sd partition or the external sd.
I'm a motorola defy user, used google and saw this thread, I also can't install titanium backup. I dont have the .odex file on system/data/app folder.
other apps install except titanium backup
edit: follow these steps
you need to delete odex file com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup-1.odex or same from /data/app directory
now working

You need to be rooted, of course. When you open ES Explorer, press the Back button once. That'll take you to your root directory, where the system/data/app folder resides
Can't install titanium backup
To fix it, you need to remove the patch installed by Lucky Patcher.
Open Lucky Patcher. Press menu button and hit Troubleshooting, then
Uninstall Patches. This will remove all patches that were installed by
Lucky Patcher for all apps.
Now, go to Troubleshooting again, and hit Clear Dalvik Cache and
Reboot.
Now, install Titanium Backup.
Note that you have to reapply patches for all apps you had previously
patched.

I donĀ“t understand what u mean! But anyway i find a solution for me with the Link2SD App from Play Store.I got a 1GB Partition on SD and with this amazing app i can change them directly to my SD Partition or into system/app .... YEAHHHH! So easy damn but thanks anyway neXt
umm titanium can do that as well or the native a2sd by the rom?
Im having trouble working out a solution to ES File Explorer regarding rar files. I want to used a different program to manage these types of files. I cant remove the app as its part of the ROM. Any ideas
Can't you delete it from /system/app then?
Don't delete system files without making backups first!
You can install another file manager to open rar files with, and if needed clear the "Launch by default" settings for ES in the phone's settings/application manager menu.
You can also freeze ES in Titanium Backup (it's safer than removing it) which will render it unusable by the phone and also remove it from your app drawer.
Hope this helped?
