[Q]Atrix Message app limit over 1000 - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So does everyone else have the same issue with the 200 message max limit?
Anyone know how to bypass it?

going into text messaging app settings and you can change the limit. I changed to 1000.

Problem is I have over 1k text from certain contacts... and I'd prefer not to delete any

What could you possibly need to maintain that many messages for? Anyway, there are apps that will back them up for you.

My desire, and sapphire are both capable of keeping unlimited text... if atrix cant, thats just unfortunate...

[Q] Phone sends @@@@@@@ between multiple messages

I don't know why, and I haven't seen anyone with the same problems, but whenever I send a text longer than 160 characters, whoever's on the other end gets hit with tons of @@@@@@@@@@ in the texts.
Does anyone have this problem, or have ANY idea of how I can fix this?
I am running an iphone 3gs using cydia jailbreak.
Nah, jk, I'm using handcent on SC 9.2.1
Happens to me too. Not really a problem to me..
Your messages are too long...you need to split them. At least that was my problem.

Use cdma split in the options in Handcent. The only time I don't have this problem is when I use the stock messaging app. I had luck with GoSMS and CDMA split though.
It happens when verizon changes your sms messages to mms at 160 characters. Keep em short and it won't happen, also, there are setting in handscent to make it stop.
Thanks everyone!

[Q] SMS limit in nAa MiniCM7 2.1.2?

is there an sms limit in this rom or has nAa removed it? If not, how do I remove it? It doesn't work with the "old fashioned" way.

Do you even know what I'm talking about?
There is a limit in android that limits you to only send 100 texts per hour and i was wondering if it if lifted in nAa's rom or if we need to do this ourselves?

[Q] Text messages over 160 characters converted to MMS

I'm on the stock 407 with my dell streak. Basically when on the stock messaging app, when a text message exceeds 160 characters it is converted to MMS. I have been using third party apps but I really prefer the default. My streak is rooted, and I was wondering if anyone knew a way to stop my text messages being converted to mms?
search in the setting that called as SMS Split or something similar...
sms split will auto split any message above 160 character... and therefore avoiding sms to mms conversion..

Where do I need to look for SMS split? In superuser? Sorry I'm new at this.
open your messaging application and then press the streak hardware middle button... it should show Settings or something similar...

I am in the messaging settings there is nothing in here about split sms or anything like that. Is there some kind of app I have to install to get that setting?

As I stated above, that setting does not appear and if you actually read the post you'd know I'm using the default messaging app.
I was referring to this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1423340 that someone suggested.
It tells you to change some system files, I've tried ES file explorer but it only lets me access my SD card.
ok... sorry for the trouble...

SMS issue
I have a Streakk 5 running Stock 360, rooted with a few tweaks and I have no problems sending long txt's or pics. I have tried multiple Gingerbread rom's and I have foung the split SMS option in some, but all of them require me to have my data on to send or recieve pics. I have a limited data package and was hoping someone knows of how to change settings or of an app that will allow me to send and recieve pics without data on.

Is this something in gingerbread, because I can do it fine in froyo?

So what's the deal with sms notifications?

Not sure if this is a Note 2 thing or an Android thing, but I don't remember having this problem with my Evo 4G.
Right now my sms tone doesn't play correctly, it's like the first half of it gets skipped. People say it's because I have too many texts and I need to delete some of them. I think it's kind of ridiculous that I have to do that. I never deleted texts on any of my previous phones and never had this problem. I don't remember if it did it stock because I rooted and flashed almost immediately lol.
So far it's done it on CleanROM and Beans 7.
Is there a way to fix this or are we seriously forced to delete messages every so often? I already have auto-delete turned on but it doesn't help.
I always had that problem on my GS3, not the Note 2 yet, but it didnt matter how many messages I had or if I didnt have any at all it always cut off half of the tone. It did it to me on stock before I rooted and unlocked and after, it did it on TW and AOSP also.

So what's causing it? It's kind of strange that everyone is so nonchalant about it.
Like "yeah my phone does that, too, you get used to it."
Never had that on any phone. Is your tone huge or stored on an odd place?
I had this problem on my s3 also, what's happening is your texts are set to a 200 message limit, as you receive a new text over that limit it's deleting a text message in that thread to make room for the new one coming in (you should notice this happens with the most frequently messaged contacts) as it's deleting the notification sound is being interrupted, what you could do is raise your text limit instead of deleting the message thread that is causing the problem (the one over the 200 message limit) by opening your message app / menu /settings/text limit
Hope this helps..
Do the same with multimedia also, just to be safe..

Nope, they're in the Notifications folder. I was using the Codec sound from MGS at first, but now it's the jump sound from Super Mario Bros.

NICE!
Everyone always said I had to delete messages, so I lowered the limit to 100. I'll try raising it and see if that helps.
I have mine on a 1000 limit and haven't had that issue. That being said, when I switch roms I don't save messages and that usually happens before I hit the limit.

[Q] Raise MMS size limit?

Is there a way to raise the MMS size to greater than a meg? Running just a rooted stock rom at the moment using the default kernel...it's annoying because even with third party SMS apps like textra it seems to still cap mms messages off at a 1 mb. Is there any way to raise this? Friends on at&t who have the iphone can send much larger pics than this so I don't see why the One is limited....
Pretty sure that's a network restricted thing at that point

It is. AT&T limit is around 1MB. I tested by setting Textra MMS size to 'no limit'; a .99MB pic send fine, but 1.15MB pic fails to send.
Install 'sense5 Toolbox' if your rooted. Let's you raise the mms size no problems..

I thought so too, but my friend sends larger than 1 mb files with the iphone 5s so I thought maybe it was a phone limitation

I grabbed that, says I need "Xposed" and that it's available in teh ARHD installer....plus I went in to Messaging Mods and all I saw was "Raise your MMS size to 300K, 600K, or 1000K".
