the other day i DL and flashed CM7 trigger redux. i love everything about it except the stock kernal. when i first flashed the rom everything i flashed after that would take away my baseband and my signal completely, rendering my phone useless unless i connected to a wifi. i then managed to get a kb5 modem for cm7.1, which worked just fine. however i still cannot get a kernal on my phone. i took the cm7 kernals for 2.3.4, including platypus and the nightlys [they are all located in the bible]
im guessing since the 7.1 modem flashed just fine, i need to find a kernal for cm7.1?
are there any in circulation atm? or would the cm website be the best place for these kernals?
i apologize for the noob questions, but i am new to 2.3
go back to stock and reflash

what kernel are you flashing?
look for an updated version of the kernel.
If there is not one, don't flash the kernel.

I'm on version 2.3.4 I figured I could flash a kernel updated to that version via the bible. Or is cm7.1 something completely different?

Yeah my imei number is there. This is crazy, I've never had any problems flashing anything before. Its like my phone won't let me flash any other kernel, but the one that comes with cm7. I can flash cm7.1 modems just fine though

Google "vibrant glitch" and get v11. (Make sure you get the vibrant one and not any of the other versions)

How the hell did you know that kernal was going to work? What makes this kernal different then the others I tried?

There are 3 kernels right now for the vibrant updated enough to work with the latest nightlies. But only glitch and kernel de jour have been updated, and personally glitch seems to be better (plus, I'm running glitch v11 right now and have been following that thread).
I'm pretty sure all the CM7 kernel links in the bible are too old and therefore, you lose your baseband.

I am running Simply honey gingerbread rom and I want to go back to bionix froyo rom. My question is can I flash directly from recovery or do I have to Odin back to stock first?
U have to odin first

Thanks for quick response even though thats not what I wanted to hear. lol
I say just Odin first to be safe. Doesn't take too long anyways
I tried simply honey myself but didn't like it also tried trigger 2.3.5 but neither one made me happy so I went back to bionix nexgen gingerbread has too many issues

Yes, It has been notified by a lot of ppl here about the boot lag. If you have earlier versions of wolfbreak then flash it, eg version 6. And wait till WB comes up with a fully working ROM.

You have to flash a gingerbread bootloader, they're in the dev section...

I have GB bootloader already. If I odin the bootloader while Im on Simply Stock JVT will I have to flash the ROM over?

If you want the i900 gone you'll have to flash back to froyo boot loaders, but then you will have rainbows on your 2.3 ROM

Development section, page 2, Custom gingerbread bootloaders for vibrant. Read the op, but flashing bootloaders via odin is verrrry dangerous. Id probly just leave it alone, getting the fail message after flashing will get your heart beating.
I think its best I leave it alone until im ready to do more flashing. It does really bother me though.

If you read the bootloader op there is a jfd file that i think takes the i9000 logo off and back to vibrant. I dont know this for a fact but maybe someone else has done this, and could confirm. Its between gingerbread and froyo on the zip download link. Be sure
I had flashed my phone I think to cm7 then to cm9 unofficial by team acid/w semaphore then I was trying to upgrade it to cm 10 with no luck formatted incorrect messed up cache in recovery then tried use odin and that failed maybe due to old semaphore version perhaps.
Anyways it bricked it for minute til I realized odin still detected it when I put it download mode (it didn't show download mode even)
Got it back using a tmobile gingerbread rom. 2.3.6.
Whats the best way to get it back to cm9 or cm10?
Go in recovery mode and flashed cm10 twice, consecutive. There are many great Roms.

T-mobile stopped supporting this phone with Froyo 2.2. If you flashed a T-mobile gingerbread rom then you must have the galaxy s 4g (t959).
