I'm running xtrSense4.6.5 and Cricket v10 script. My 3g stops working occasionally, a reboot usually clears this up. Last week it stopped working and wouldn't come back. I got the idea to purge my SU permissions. All my Root programs asked for permissions except Autostart, ran the script and 3g is back.
I searched and there is no answer on google. Can anyone shine a light on this?

Just a an educated guess based on what you already said. I know that sometimes there's permissions issues that fixing these eliminates problems that people have. FYI I don't know if it's just the paid version, but Titanium Backup has an option to fix permissions in it.

I tried using setCPU to enable profiles for screen off and the like. It works, but there are some issues.
When actually using the phone, I get constant notifications the setCPU has been given root privileges. Like it is constantly needing to re-ask super user for root permissions.
Anyone else seen this behavior?

Normal.
If it bothers you turn off notifications in Superuser

Normal for temp root? I have never had this issue before, I have always rooted my phones straight away. I see the notification pop up at least 2-3 times a minute.
Yes temp root. Perm root is fine because it gets it once and holds it.
I noticed a lot of awake time when I have it running, so I uninstalled until perm root.
After rooting my stock ICS 211 razr, everything seemed to be great. now all of a sudden, the search and home buttons are completely useless and there is no longer a lockscreen, no matter what i set it to be.
i think i have the same problem as this guy; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1775206
it could have something to do with the sms limit remover app i just ran, which caused my phone to reboot, i walked away so i cant remember if it was immediately after i ran that app :/ reboot does nothing. another thing i noticed was that my titanium backup freaked out and said my id number or something had changed and asked if i wanted to switch it back, so i did, but that didn't fix it. i would prefer not resetting it or restoring it or anything as whatever has happened might just be restored again. anybody have any ideas??
thanks

if i flash a new rom, would that fix it??
I've tried several Jellybean builds (CheckROM, Wanamlite, Omega) and have the same problem with all of them. Whenever I turn off 3G data it re-enables itself within a few minutes. Has anyone else had this problem with JB?
Most likely it is a problem with some of the installed by you soft wghich tires to connect to network.

What's the best of identifying which app might be causing it??
If your phone is rooted, it is simple: install DroidWall from market
I'm running Omega v31 since Indie released it. No problem so far.. Same when I was on CheckROM before.
Did you do a full wipe before installing the ROMs?

Yes I did a wipe/delete cache/delete Dalvik cache before installing each ROM.
I installed Droidwall and denied 3G access to ALL apps, but still something is switching on my data service within an hour of me disabling it.
???
I never met the app which turned firewall of by itself....
Last resort: install Titanium Backup, and by freezing one by one check which one causes this.
Must it be an app that's trying to access 3G, or is the o/s enabling 3G for some reason??
If you have set software check, it may, but I doubt it.
From system apps - I'd look into news daemon, stock daemon, account sync, weather update and similar.
Surely the question isn't which app is attempting to use 3G, but why it is able to turn 3G on when I've explicitly disabled it? If I turn 3G off should it prevent any app from using it??
Usually no, BUT:
- some apps can have root access;
- some apps can have "strange" permissions, especially if taken from... not 100% trustworthy source.
One more what can help to diagnose: Permissions Denied from Play, can verify app-by-app which one will have permission to access network.
Personally, what I'd do:
- install Titanium Backup;
- backup all apps;
- freeze system apps (Stock Daemon, news daemon, FB, YT, SamsungUNA, push etc)
- look if the situation persists, if not - I'd try to unfreeze sys apps one by one, and then restore my apps.
I'm using Onavo Count to monitor for data usage and it's showing that only "Google Services" and "Google Account Manager" have used any data since the last reboot. Since both of those are pretty central to the Android experience I'm now stumped. I can't disable them, but why/how are they overriding my settings and starting up 3G when I've explicitly chosen to disable it??
Hmmm... by the accident - do you have auto sync left in the settings?

Sync is switched on for Gmail only, but even this shouldn't be able to enable 3G when I've turned off 3G???
Same problem...
I have the same problem, since I updated to jellybean - the mobile data just switches itself back on even though I have manually disabled it.
I have the stock software, sorry, haven't had the guts to flash it yet
Anybody find an answer?
Thanks in advance

Have you checked in Settings>Data Usage>Mobile Data was unchecked after switch off the mobile data from notification? It could be either that or auto sync that force mobile data to switch on. Try to turn off mobile data and turn on auto sync, then see in an hour if there's any effect.
Because if stock (non-rooted) also have same problem, it should be something in the settings..
Anyway, mine doesn't have any problem like this..
try this
u may try this ....like press *#*#4636#*#* and the goto phone information the select the type of network u want..
btw this works for many of the devices....on any version of android
Hey All,
I'm S-On and on the latest stock firmware, and some rendition of the latest OTA (I got there from the Global Leak OTA and fastboot flashing the zipfile, OTA-Global-Stock-4.05.605.14 710RD-Rooted, I found in one of the development forums here on xda-developers).
My question relates to this scenario: I arrive home, turn on my wifi and check that I've set the wifi advanced setting to leave wifi enabled "Only when plugged in". Then, I connect to my access point. When I immediately relook at the wifi advanced settings, I see that it's been switched to "Always," without my requesting that that happen. I don't know that I recall this ever happening before, and now it's completely repeatable.
I'd like to have my setting stay on leave on only if connected. Can anyone offer up a way to overcome it getting changed to always?
Thanks!
cheers,
john

My guess is you have an app that has permission to activate WiFi, or something is corrupt... Try Permission Explorer and look for apps that have WiFi control (I don't remember how the actual permission is worded), if you can't find anything then I think a factory default is in order and try it before restoring any apps.

Hey Ace,
Thanks for pointing Permission Explorer out to me. I'll give it a try and let you know what I learn. As you might expect, I'd pretty much like to avoid going the route of the factory default reset...
Thanks again,
john

Do it a few times and a factory reset is easy... I switch ROMs in my Rezzy so much I don't even hesitate anymore. It is a basic troubleshooting tool and done correctly you won't lose anything.

I get an error at each boot of vzwavservice stopped working. I don't know if this is important or not but it is annoying.
I am going to try to upload a cap of it.
I can't figure out how to load the SC of it from mobile.
You are not getting much response because pretty much everyone had that problem months ago and discussed it to death back then. I think it turned out to be a conflict between that bit of useless bloatware, McAfee Antivirus maybe it was - renamed by Verizon, and a Google Services update?
Anyway, root your G3 and freeze or uninstall that app.

Once you're rooted, you can simply freeze that vzwavsservice app and problem solved. Won't hurt a thing.
The problem also disappears if you take the Verizon OTA update.
