twitter - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

is there an app that does push notifications for twitter?

I know Tweetcaster is supposed to work pretty fast, but as far as true push notifications go, the only thing I have heard of is Pushee....And that is hit or miss (mostly miss) from what I've seen.

[Q] Best Instant Messenger App?

Hello All!
I was wondering what everyone is using for instant messaging? I currently have MSN Talk installed, because that is what my girlfriend uses the most. I figured we could use it to communicate while I am busy flashing ROMs on my phone. However, it keeps signing me out. Anyone find anything that works really well?
Use IMO IM. It runs as an App on android, and also as a tab in your desktop browser, and supports all major IM platforms including Skype (w/ video) and Facebook....
i'm partial to trillian
They have trillian for the droid os? I've searched for it in the market. Id love to get that app on mu NC and my phone.
sent from my NC
I also use Trillian. Skype is ok but you can def tell it's not really made for the NC. Trillian works great straight off, IMO.
Thanks for the suggestions. It looks like Trillian is going to be my best bet for an all around messenger.
If all you care about is MSN Messenger, I HIGHLY recommend you check out MSN Messenger: Mercury. It is absolutely gorgeous on the nook color. The text is easily readable by default, and you can change the font size in the settings. You can set your conversations up in chat bubbles, just like texting. It can be set to start on boot up, and it automatically reconnects if you disconnect for any reason. I am really impressed with it.

[Q] Facebook push notifications

i notice that there is no push notifications on facebook app. We will have to wait for the 30 mins refresh interval. Or is there any immediate notification??
btw im on gingerbread.
i notice twitter is also the same. anyone else has the same problem and managed to solve it?
For Facebook, get a third party app from the market called Friendcaster.
There's a free version with ads, but if you're rooted and have adfree installed, this may not be a problem.
There's a paid version too with no ads and more features if you're feeling flush.....
Well I think facebook was working on 2.3.3 for me it worked before the update anyway and I know twitter certainly was (i'm kinda addicted hehe) but I think there might have been a bug with twitter because it took a good 2/3 days before push notifications started coming through properly for me.

If you have set any refresh interval, you will not get Push Notifications.
If you set the interval to Never and check the boxes with the things you want to be notified about (Messages, Request, etc)
you'll get notifications almost instantly!

Reminder App

I thought this would be easy to find a GOOD app for this but it hasn't.
I'm after an app that will give reminders for notifications other than my calender and sms ones eg missed call, facebook, facebook messenger, touchdown email, etc.
At the moment I have calender snooze for my appointments which works great, and also go sms pro for messages with its inbuilt repeat reminder.
Now does anyone have one that will work for other notifications and not interfere with with my existing reminders, well I could turn go sms repeat reminders off i guess but not calender snooze.
Still Looking
Should have turned this into a battery thread about a cheap 5500mAh battery for $15. Woulda sure had replies
I can't quite work out specifically what you're after, but this seems to fit the bill.

Thankyou. Sure to give this a go.
Stupid thing is I searched a fair amount and all I found only did missed calls or text messaged etc.... Maybe I just left key words from my search and used the wrong terminology.
But this looks like it works for whatever program that has normal android notifications to be added. So can leave go sms pro out of the list and this won't duplicate the good built in repeat reminders.

Notification service to send notifications to desktop

I work as a software developer and for the better part of my day I'm looking at my work screen and my phone is on silent. Because of this I miss SMS's and missed call notifications sometimes for hours. I have been looking for an app that allows me to push some, if not all, notifications raised by my phone to my desktop.
I tried growl but that requires a local web server which I cannot obviously run at work. I also do not have access to my work network from my phone because wifi is restricted. So I need a solution that sends these notifications over the web.
Is there an app or a service that can push notifications from android to my desktop?
MightyText might be the app you are looking for.

Thanks, didn't realize mighty app also gave missed call notifications. Is there any other app that gives me native windows notifications?
MightyText fits my needs. Havent tried any other such app.
Android Desktop Notifications.
You can even choose which app notifications you want to be forwarded to the pc. However, for SMS and missed call notifications only, Mightytext is the best. Good luck

IMAP push notifications with email app

One of the things I've never liked about the stock email app is that it does not provide real time IMAP push notifications. I recently came across a solution that might be helpful for others wanting push notifications with the stock email app. The app is called eNotify: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hermes.enotifylite
It basically sits it the background monitoring the email accounts you have set up and gives you a customizable notification whenever you get an email. Tapping on the notification in the pulldown takes you to the email app. It's simple and it has worked flawlessly for me. I thought this might be helpful for those who have not come across it.
