I cannot access from SD card on my Thunderbolt. I have win 7 64 bit. I have installed HTC Sync and I can connect to that. I also installed VZW V Cast Media Manager. I cannot access my phone. When I connect, I have chose Disk Drive and Media Sync, and I also have checked USB debugging. What the ****, it should not be this hard.
Unchecked USB debugging, then Media Sync, now I see it. ****ing ridiculous.

I can't connect the Atrix to the Moto Phone Portal using the USB. Just curious if there is a fix to this? Once the browser is launched (it doesn't matter which browser, IE, Firefox, Chrome) it doesn't connect. USB connection is set to 'Motorola Phone Portal' and Moto Phone Portal app says its 'running on on USB..."
Not sure what is going on- connects fine using Wi-Fi... just annoying that it won't connect with USB. Any help is appreciated?
Thanks,
M
are you on a mac? I think it requires the MotoHelper app on a pc - part of the PC drivers.
I had the same issue but I also couldn't connect via wifi. So... I turned off the debug under applications and then it worked fine. But haven't had time to try it with the usb but it may help.
I am on a PC and have the MotoHelper installed, but it still didn't work. Also I didn't see a debug under applications, haven't done any modifications to my phone (not sure if you need to modify to debug or not, but I couldn't find it).
Maybe its a driver issue with my dell...

Not a Dell issue. I have Dell running Win7 64bit and it works fine. Try to manually reinstall Motohelper. Also, under you Windows Start button you should have:
START>ALL PROGRAMS>MOTOROLA>Motorola Drivers>Motorola Driver Reinstaller.exe.
Run this CLEAN and REINSTALL and Selct START - see my attached. This will reinstall everything associated with the drivers and Motohelper. Reboot Phone and PC and then replug phone into PC and select USB with Motorola Portal.
Same Problem
I've tried all these things and mine keeps switching back to USb Mass Storage. If I switch it back to Motorola Phone Portal, it will give me the address for my browser and it will actually pull up the Portal on my computer but then the phone will switch back to USB storage and I can't go any further on the computer. I've rebooted the computer and the phone and nothing helps. Any help
I tried all those things as well, but still no luck. However, my phone stays on Moto Phone Portal as USB connection, but just won't connect/load the phone portal in the browser(s) when using the USB cable.

You should uninstall the Motorola Media Sync from the PC. I kinda like the software, but it does it's own thing to much with out giving me control. I have spoken to Motorola 2nd level support, but the were no help. They told me to ignore it or uninstall it. I uninstalled it. I left the Motorola drivers installed. If you reinstall the drivers it'll ask you to reinstall the Media Sync - say NO.
Once the Media Sync is gone, then the Portal will not auto load and you can have control of the USB settings from the taskbar.
I had a similar issues
....First, Moto Phone portal does not work on Chrome (insert IP address into IE or Firefox)
If you still have problems...
On phone, from home screen
select Apps drawer
select Phone Portal
select menu
select Settings
select Secure login
uncheck Enable login
did anyone come up with a fix for this? i have tried everything in this thread with no success.
USB Cable
I had this problem as well, just happened to have a few extra Micro USB Cables around. I found that the phone will work with some Cables and have problems with others. If you can try a different USB cable give it a shot.
It works just fine with Chrome.
The USB cable that came with my phone does not work.
When plugging in a USB cord to my phone and computer, i get 3 different options (not counting none) for how the phone should handle it. Can anyone explain what the difference is between them (usb mass storage is obvious and can be ignored).
Thanks
Phone portal gives you some sync options, none gives you... nothing except a device connected to a computer. None is useful for ADB.... Windows Media Sync is useful for syncing media with WMP11
my linux mint 11 computer, i cannot transfer files? It will read the note, but all the file folders are numbers and you dont know whats what!
my atrix worked perfect on it!
I just tried on my Mint 12 and saw the same thing. It gives the option for both SD cards: USB and micro, but the folders are incorrectly named (as numbers) and they have no contents in them.
Everything works flawlessly on Windows 7 though. So I will stick with that for now

Do you have USB debugging turned on?
of course.... its weird. i have win7 on my netbook, but i dont have wireless where i am at. i am mostly on my linux computer, so its a pain downloading from one, flashdrive to win7, then to phone.
Try going into settings -> wireless and network -> USB utilities and choose USB mass storage, then connect your phone to the computer.

+1 Was just about to recommend the same, as the Note is default to MTP mode.

if i do this, it turns USB debugging off, then i have to connect to the computer....
AND YES!!!! it works!!!!
and there is always a but! But why do i have to this EVERYTIME?? my atrix i could connect and bam, it was on my mint comp. .. and now when i am done, i have to remember to turn USB debugging back on, or run into why wont this work on my win7 pc........ we need a popup or a dropdown from the taskbar when connected to a computer as to what you would like to do.
Oh wow. I had no idea this even existed..that would make sense. I was wondering why it wouldn't go into Mass Storage mode when I plugged in.
Sorry coming from an HTC Inspire.

Hey
So for my One X I was able to plug the usb cable into my laptop and switch from Charge Only to Mount as Disk Drive so it would show a usb storage device. Anyway, I'm trying to switch pictures from one phone to my new One X+. I just got this phone yesterday and was the first out of the store with it. However, I plug the USB cable into the computer and get neither Charge Only or Mount as Disk Drive.
I tap on "USB connected: tap to change settings" and it pulls up Portable hotspot and tethering options. I'm not interested in any of that. Where is my option to mount as a disk drive so I can access my folders outside of the media setup they have to go into the phone. I'd like to be able to view my pictures as I move them over. Not just stare at blank images while it's connected.
Help!
Do you have HTC Sync program installed on your computer?
Do that first, and then let the computer install all the drivers needed, which happens automatically when you plug the One X+ in.
One X+ is now mounted as MTP, see here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Media_Transfer_Protocol
The HTC Sync manager lets you copy/sync your media/pics from your computer.
The OneX+ storage can be found under Start ---> Computer as Portable Device.
Also, you get free 25GB storage with dropbox with your One X+
Makes it extremely easy to sync/share/store any photos/media/files
Install it on your computer and on your phone and enjoy!
The one x+ ditched the mass storage method for MTP. Media transfer protocol has added advantages like being able to copy files to your device while the internal storage remains mounted within android
MTP only, you have to use Media Sync mode for it to work.
Hi, i've bought from a local store HTC Desire X and everything seemed perfect. But when I try to connect to the PC, the PC can't recognize that i have micro SD card. I've installed HTC Sync Manager and can't use "FILES" option on the manager. And the strangest thing is that in my phone's settings I don't have the option "Connect to PC" nor the same option in "Accounts and Sync". Do I miss something or the problem is in the phone?
Thats mostly weird, there should be connect to pc option... does phone pops up some menu like charge only, connect as disc drive and others when you connect it via usb cable with pc? and if it doesnt pops up, can you expand notifications and switch it via notifications?
Could you try factory reset?
