With LG flashing 2Million sales of its Optimus One phone,Samsung had no other option but to copy LG and release 3 new devices almost using same underlying hardware msm7227/msm7627 (analogous to Mobo+Processor COmbo in terms of Computers ) .the three phones are namely GIo,Galaxy Mini and Galaxy Ace.But latter two are priced above O1..Heres a analysis of what is running underneath that case of O1 that makes it so fast....Read on....

How come the folks at cyanogenmod aren't interesting in porting their gingerbread 2.3 rom over to the LG Optimus One/T.
Hasn't this phone sold a few million units in only a couple of months? Also since it's such an incredible phone for the price (easily the best phone per dollar, hands down) you'd think they'd be all over it.
Anyone?
also AOSP gingerbread....nothing.....lg optimus one has a good hardware....same legend....but legend has gingerbread rom.....because is HTC!....maybe lg doesn't publish all source code??
Is it a common thing to have a new version before the official one ?

If it helps, a few people and I are going to start developing AOSP 2.2 for the Optimus S over at AndroidCentral... You could port it to the P500 then.
From what I have heard they will officially support it but it is still in beta http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1043070
There has been talk that the next phone that CM would support would be the LG 2X being a dual core but no mention of O1. Sigh...

Unfortunately, the Optimus One/T is a great value but not nearly as exciting as the LG 2X. The specs for the LG 2X are fantastic. I think buying the Optimus T for $100 was a fantastic buy. However, if I had a choice of which phone to use, I would definitely choose the LG 2X.
Despite what I have said above, if LG continues to sell the Optimus One, I think they will support it. I just wish it was sooner rather than later.
hi guys.. i am looking to buys an android phone but i am stuck between galaxy s2 motorola razr and optimus 2x. i want a phone which is closest to being unbrickable and has more custom roms etc. plz suggest me what phone should i buy. thanks
I think that the most unbrickable and mod addicted phone is o2x.. luckily lg legalized root and mods so you'll never lose your warranty

I suppose my favorite would be the Droid Razr, just because it's been getting a lot of good credit lately, although you wouldn't be going wrong with any of those phones.
thanx mate i think i will go for o2x its cheaper then the rest and tegra2 is really fun for a gamer like me. just want to know if the 512 ram is enough? specially in future after ICS update will it be able to handle that. also it had a bug in the beginning which hangs the screen and often reboots automatically. has that been solved ??
512MB RAM should be enough for pretty much anything - these days, that is. I wouldn't worry too much about it since in a couple years you're likely to replace the phone, right?
If you are going to spend the money on the razr I would suggest going with the HTC Rezound. HTC has a huge following of dedicated developers, plus they allow you to unlock your phones from their website.
I suggest you rather take a HTC.The support for the custom roms is much more important than other manufacturers. Like hobble said, the HTC Rezound could be a good choice, but there is another phone I could suggest you if you are ready to wait one or two months, the Xiaomi MI-One, for the price : 250-300Euros. (specs : Dual core to 1,2 or 1,5 GHz, 4" SLCD, 1GB RAM...)
6 months would be a record for me. lol
anyway thanks got o2x finally very happy with it works like a charm
thanx guys i finally got o2x. budget phone and i am really enjoying it. lg is not a bad company after all. had a bad perception abt them

Lg hardware is usually very good, they are rubbish at delivering updates on time though

Well there has been a lot of speculation for the next nexus device and many a lot on internet are claiming the next nexus device would be based off LG's flagship phone LG Optimus G and the new nexus would be termed as LG Optimus G Nexus....
Reports also say that the device will probably be launched next month at a conference oraganized by both Google and LG.
Given that we have used LG's remarkable Optimus One P500 series....what do you think of the next nexus by LG...
If you had the money...would buy the phone?????
Do share your reviews....
Looks like an amazing phone plus with Google giving the updates. Unmatchable

i think the only issue with lg phones is about updating roms. LG has not convinced it's customers in updating the roms. for example when GB was released, LG updated the optimus one very late and also it didn't update the rom for my region. but i believe LG is better than SAMSUNG or the other phones. I have read some reviews about 3 powerful phones in the market such az LG 4x HD, Samsung galaxy s III and htc one x. i concluded from those reviews that among these three phones, LG is the best in shape and performance and battery and in overall. so i like to see the next nexus with LG. it can be a great phone and if i have money i will buy it.

Wow, that almost looks like an iPhone : |
Not a smart choice after, you know, Samsung and Apple...
Anyway, LG is totally OK with me. As long as Google itself will update the smartphone, there's no problem if LG, HTC or Samsung build a Nexus.
Just a quick question.....I recently established a biz account with att with the intent of acquiring a premier android device as well as an Asus vivo windows 8 tablet and keyboard for my new abode. ..a houseboat. ....I'm curious if the android sdk software is compatible with the Asus device so that I may root the new LG and enjoy custom roms. ....also the price tag on the tablet was enough to leave me unable to acquire the new HTC one so when comparing spec sheets on the remaining att smartphones it appears to me the LG optimus is as good as it gets but looking down the forums here at xda it doesn't seem to register at all as one of the premier android devices. ...with phones like the Sony experia rating much higher....with that said and while I still can return.... have I made a good choice or is the Sony or other device there better.....? I'm not a fan of Samsung s3 so that's not an option....Thanks in advance for any input?

Have the one and lgog, the one has interesting features AMS the processor seems sharper but its not a huge difference. Vivo tan from att is RT, so it is a glorified Ipad. You aren't going top be able to run desktop applications natively.
If you can shell it, get the Samsung ativ smart pc since its a full Windows 8 version PC or if you don't need the cellular bit just get a surface pro, that's probably the best Windows 8 tablet around.
Enjoy your lgog!

What is the cheapest available phone out there that has full kernel and android sources? I and a bunch of classmates need to do a project which requires custom kernel building and development on a phone. We have experimented with dev boards etc but now its time to get 4-5 real phones, so obviously cost is an issue.
Our project doesn't really need very high resources, so ROM size/RAM size/CPU speed, etc don't matter much - as long as touch screen works, calling works, wifi works, and custom kernels and android can be built and uploaded to the phone, Unbrickable/difficult to brick is a plus of course.
Any suggestions? We looked at mt6573 based Motorola Xt389, which seemed perfect, but it seems there is no source code released even though motorola has released lots of source code for other devices ( on sourceforge /motorola/wiki/Projects/ ).
Is there ANY thing out there that we can use? I know there are several in the higher cost range with full source code, but something close to, or cheaper than Xt389 is pretty much all we have the budget for.
Would appreciate any suggestions!
HTC g1 (dream) can get these oh so cheap now. Or really any nexus device is made easy, do they have to be new or will used work?

On initial searches, HTC G1 looks like a promising lead. I will look into it further, thanks.
I'd prefer (relatively) recent CPUs though.
Used could be OK, as long as they are reliably available (5-10 pieces) in good condition - the phones might end up being demoed, so new wouldn't hurt, but we are students so I guess beggars can't be choosers.
If you want at least somewhat newer buy still used and cheap maybe check out nexus 1, nexus s, galaxy nexus, etc. Maybe even nexus 4. The moto g can be found brand new and comparatively cheap.
But for the cheapest with sources available I still would say g1, which is not hard to find and for sure inexpensive.
Buy I guess preference will be what you need to do specifically

So I looked into the G1 a bit. We are based in India - the prices in Indian Rupees (all from Ebay.in)
* Cheapest android phone (new) : ~2500 INR ( this one is based on Spreadtrum SC6820 SoC)
* Motorola Xt389: ~3500 INR (this one is based on mt6573)
The two above and dozens other models based on similar chinese chipsets are listedn by many vendors for 5000 INR or less.
* HTC G1: ~5000 INR (only one vendor, so a bit questionable in terms of reliable availability)
* Nexus S: ~ 6000 INR
* Nexus One: ~10,000 INR
* Galaxy Nexus: ~13000 INR
* Moto G: ~14,000 INR
* Nexus 4: ~18,000 INR
Unfortunately, anything beyond 5000 INR per piece would pretty much break our budget. So G1 does look viable and I hadn't even thought of it until you mentioned, so thanks again.
Is there really no hope for the Spreatrum and Mediatek ones? Those would be *SO* perfect for the project
Cheapest phone
You should go with samsung galaxy y, as it useful for experiments like flashing custom roms and kernels,tweaking,and many more...
and the most important one its inexpensive it should come under 5000 INR.
