[Q] Carloader - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Which carloader can be used with the X10i?
I was using the navigation today with my phone plugged in, but it lost power.
Till now I've tried:
1) direct car-lighter cable which came with my carkit for X10i
2) car-lighter to USB adapter with original USB-cable
3) original 230V adapter with original USB-cable in a 12V to 230V converter.
Does anybody know what to do?

it's up to you, what do you want to use. You can or could use any of these, but in fact there is a difference I want to know to. My car-lighter power source gibes me 1,2Ampere, but my X10 recongnize it as USB and charges really slow, instead of AC (i know it isn't AC, but it has the power like AC)
But thats another story (I will open a new thread for it)
It should work with every solution. Your choice

i had a no-name car charger, tried it 3 times and it only charged once,!
although the yellow led was lighting it wouldn't charge! So i decided to drop it and buy an original SE one probably this week

The problem is about how it converts tension and stabilisation of it, i made some experiments on my phone and connected a miniusb connector to a dc lab power supply, and mesured with osciloscope the data lines and voltage one. So the realy problem is about the level of dc voltage if is betwen the 4.5 and 5.5 is ok it will start charge, and if the data lines are in tree state level(as free, noconnection). The current consumption is not depending on what tipe of connection is detected only depends of the avaibility of the power supply, the max current absorbed by phone was about 800mA at 5V, and the surce can deliver even 10A.
Now the phone to detect a connection as USB charger u must have a bistabil interface between the data lines, and the phone current consumption in this mode was the same as AC charger mode, so is no difference in charging time, this depends only by power supply.
sorry for my bad english is not my first language.

Car charging problem with Touch HD

I purchased a new vent holder with a car charger, and it charges the phone up OK when it is off, but if it is on it says charging but does not actually charge. This is especially annoying with Satnav and after an hour or two the phone dies and I don't know where I am going!
Anyone know what causes this? I guess it can't provide enough power for the device, especially when using the internal GPS, but I think it doesn't even keep up with the device is just turned on.
I am getting another charger just in case, but never had the problem on my old Touch....
..
try -> start/settings/system tab/power/battery tab - uncheck the box "when the device is turned on...."
It isn't ticked...
..
try ticking it..
That will have the opposite effect, it charges fine when plugged into the wall, the problem is something to do with the car.
Does anyone use satnav on a touch HD and have it charge at the same time?
Well there could be one or two issues.
On the USB port there are four connections, a positive and a negative and two data pins. When you plug your Touch HD into a PC power is supplied down the power pins and after negotiating with the USB controller chip over the two data pins the phone will pull up-to 500mA from the power supply to run and charge the phone. This is so the USB port on the PC is not damaged by the phone overloading the power supply to the port.
Without the negotiation with the USB controller chip the device will only charge at 100mA.
But 500mA is not enough to charge the phone with everything running, you will need at least 1000mA to do that (1 Ampere). So that is what your wall charger pushes out. But how does the phone know it can charge at a higher rate? Well inside the charger the data pins on the USB connector are wired in a way that the phone 'sees' that a higher current is available, and pulls a higher charging current.
So what you need is a minimum current 1 Amp car charger. If you already have a 1 Amp then the chances are that is does not have the data pins connected properly and the phone will not draw the higher current, meaning it will only charge at 100mA.
Thanks, I am going to try another one and see if that helps, perhaps it is just faulty, otherwise I will check if it is 1Amp.
Cheers.
I contacted the seller and they sent me a new one, which works. So it turns it my charger was just faulty.
What's the rating of the new one? and where did you get it from. I bought a 2amp (supposedly) but it doesn't give me more than 500mA.
I've had this problem and it sucks! As I'm always out on the road. But I have found a few solutions. I purchased a mini usb charger from asda for £6. After adjusting the backlight to medium this charger seems to keep the power level the same as it was before you plugged it in, so It doesn't let the battery go flat. I've now learnt to keep a spare charged battery in the car just in case it fails.

Battery Driver (Quick charge, over 500mA)

Is there a program/driver that will allow the leo to pull more than 500mA when connected via usb? My TP2 (CDMA) has this installed and its bad ass. I can charge faster off things like a cable box (or my computer) than the wall. It pulls ~928mA.
Right now I have a Y adapter.. I plug the power only usb into the computer and the data into an external source (like a duracell powersource mobile). tBattery reads "AC" for charger input. Then, I unplug from the powersource and plug the data part of the usb Y into the computer, hopefully forcing it to switch to usb mode while retaining high current draw. No dice, its still on AC.. and the data cable is not communicating with the computer/phone. If i were to unplug the power only cable, it would probably switch right over to usb mode and WMDC would pop up and all that. But.. I would be limited to 500mA, which is.. really weak since the phone can only use about 150 of that for charging!
Charge with your phone off may help?
That is not possible, because PC can't give more than 500mA on one USB port.
Check in Windows device manager (PC) and find Generic USB Hub. Then look on "Power" tab.

You can't. You could burn USB port in your computer.

This is a screenshot taken from my touch pro 2.. Plugged into the usb port of my laptop. This is possible. It also is possible with my cable box. It requires a driver/app from nuerom..

btw.. ports are either in high power or low power.. 500mA should really say 500mA+... Some ports are NOT capable of doing this.. I'd imagine I could trigger the same by connecting devices to all three of my usb ports on my laptop.
many gigabyte mainboards have the function to deliver 3x more power through usb ports. ive tested myself and can only confirm it is charging within 1.5~ 2 hours completely
Yeah - maybe, but if... higher charging amperage causing battery/phone overheating and dramaticly shorting battery life. I know, that dedicated HTC HD2 charger having 5V and 1A (1000 mA), but this is TRAVEL charger and should be used only in this situation by reasons previously wroted by me. I charge my LEO only with PC.
i think it depends on the charger itself. i bought a docking station and while reading the manual i came across a switch that changes the mode between "charge" and "sync"
this lets your device acknowledge that the charger is capable of providing more mA than a normal USB port so that it can draw more power.
The ac charger (or the battery driver itself) is smart enough to trickle down the charge rate as the battery reaches maximum capacity. We have an aluminum battery cover that seems to have a heat pad to transfer that heat from the battery. The battery driver probably has provisions to stop charging if batt temp reaches a certain #.
500mA charge is not enough. The phone itself is able to draw more current than a 500mA line could provide.
I just plugged a y adapter into my laptop. Plugging only the power portion in. tBattery says USB for charger input.. Taking the data/power 'part' of the Y adapter cable and plugging it into a usb power source (with no data pins, like a duracell powersource mobile) puts the phone into ac charger input. I disconnect the duracell charger and leave only the phone plugged into my y adapter to my computer... still says AC charging.
I'm now able to charge the phone using 1 computer usb port. World doesn't end. Phone doesn't explode.
Pictures are worth a thousand convoluted paragraphs.

[Q] charging problem

I just got my Tab p7500 and i have a problem. When i connects it to the charger it gives me MTP mode and charges veeeeeeery slowly as if it's connected to a usb.
Anyone knows what is this problem ?
Are you using original charger or some compatible, f.e. from your mobile. The original gives higher output power.
Does it actually show the connected as MTP notification? If not, make sure the charger is plugged in with the black wall adapter that came with it, since that gives it the full (10W i think) of power. If you plug it into one of those generic usb bars(like the Belkin mini surge protector), you will get only the power output meant for mobile devices and will charge very slowly.
i have the same problem
It takes me approximately 4 hour from zero to 100% with the original charger...
i just recently had the same problem.
buying a new adapter solved the problem. it seems that samsung's chargers aren't that good of a quality. (my sgs2's is working, but the outer part of the cable started to split so i had to fix it with some shrink tube...)

Hox+ power supply question

So when I play a game on my hox+ connected to the official charger I get a warning that tells me I'm consuming more power than it's charging.
Is there a way round this, I know it's to do with amps do I just need to get a power adaptor that can change voltage down a usb cable...
What's the solution guys?
Just don't charge your phone while playing games (especially heavy 3d games), it makes your phone heating up even more. And definitely use power saving mode or a lower cpu frequency cap (depending on what rom you use) while gaming.
I've got this warning when I used the official charger connected with two usb cables and the micro usb on the end of it (so I had 3 meters of cable ). But unfortunately, longer cable = slower charging.
Are you sure you use the official charger and the official micro usb cable? I read that there are plenty Chinese micro usb cables in stores which can't be used to charge devices.
So there's no solution then! I don't care about heating up and I've got tegra overclock, I just want a more powerful charger I think.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S3 - charging too long with original cable

The thing is.. When I use original charger and original cable I had with phone in the box, it charges so slowly it can actually discharge while for example using skype.
Also funny thing is in settings/more/battery (android 4.3) it shows Charging (USB) when I am connected to the wall socket. The app "Galaxy charging current *lite*" shows it is receiving 460mA right now at average. It takes like whole night to charge. (at the time of posting it was 460mA, but I have to notice ,that using this original cable and charger from wall socket, phone itself somehow changes how much mA it takes as it varies from 100 up to 500 from long time observation)
When I use small micro usb – usb cable from my old Nokia 5800 Xpress music, it is charging at 1000mA and can charge even when using skype or anything else. With this cable I can charge from 0% to 100% in about 1-or 1,5h. (Here it is always constant - 1000 mA on average using that app)
I was googling and reading some posts from people with some S3 charging problems, and found that cables are the reason. I have noticed by visual comparison of S3 original cable and nokia cable that on the micro usb side, S3 cable has visible only 4 pins but nokia has visibl 5 pins.
1. Is the pin amount on usb micro side the reason for slower charging rate ?
2. But why the hell my phone thinks I am charging from USB when it is connected to wall socket when using original cable and charger ?
3. Is it safe to use that nokia cable to charge my phone ?
Thank you for replies !
Throw away the faulty charger, rating of the replacement is irrelevant as the phone controls the current used.

Hi, thank you for your reply. I apologize, may be because english is not my mother tongue, I do not undesrtand clearly what you are saying. Especially this part "rating of the replacement is irrelevant as "
May be I described my problem not accurately. I attached the photo of things I am writing about. I use still the same charger (number 1) I just either use original samsung cable I had with my S3 (number 2) or original nokia 5530 micro usb cable (number 3)
With S3 cable and original charger (1 + 2) it charges slowly and app in phone shows it gets at maximum 500 mA. Full charging (from 0% to 100%) takes about 8 hours at least. Also, sometimes the phone shows its connected to USB, although I am connected to wall socket. The thing is, that even when it shows AC, the app in the phone still shows it is getting somewhere between 100-500 mA. So charging is still slow. I have also noted, that current changes during the cycle of charging. Or even when I unplug and plug the charger, it sometimes changes the current (mA shown in the app)
When I use Nokia cable (1+3), current is always 1000 mA. Charging time is something more than hour (from 0% to 100%). Using the same charger, just changing the cable.
So I am unsure if it is safe to use that nokia cable. Can it somehow damage my battery or phone ?
Is the behavior of the original charger and cable (1+2) ok ?
Throw part 2 away.
Part 3 will not damage your phone.
