I just got my Tab p7500 and i have a problem. When i connects it to the charger it gives me MTP mode and charges veeeeeeery slowly as if it's connected to a usb.
Anyone knows what is this problem ?
Are you using original charger or some compatible, f.e. from your mobile. The original gives higher output power.
Does it actually show the connected as MTP notification? If not, make sure the charger is plugged in with the black wall adapter that came with it, since that gives it the full (10W i think) of power. If you plug it into one of those generic usb bars(like the Belkin mini surge protector), you will get only the power output meant for mobile devices and will charge very slowly.
i have the same problem
It takes me approximately 4 hour from zero to 100% with the original charger...
i just recently had the same problem.
buying a new adapter solved the problem. it seems that samsung's chargers aren't that good of a quality. (my sgs2's is working, but the outer part of the cable started to split so i had to fix it with some shrink tube...)

Hello,
I've got my TyTN in europe (ROM 1.18.256.104) and my "usb" car charger is not working (charge sometime but ONLY if my TyTn is switched off....not usefull for GPS...)
I've tried another one same problem...restested with my 9100 : ok .
Is it due to the charging load ???
Anyone experiencing the same problem ???
Cheers
André
If I remember correctly the 9100 used an 800mA charger and the TyTn uses a 1A charger. That could be your problem.
hello,
same problem, but charging work on laptop (normally laptop is unable to offer more than 500ma).
I've read an article with C500 where charging work when pin 4 of the usb cable was linked with gnd. Is the same problem with Tytn ?
cheers
Tom
yep, had the same problem too with a standard charger with usb cable.
the charger output was 500mA. it stopped charging after a few seconds.
Recently i bought a Brodit carholder with the charger included. This charger has 1000mA output and its charging without problems.
So you need at least a 1000mA(1A) charger, otherwise it will not work well.

Thanks Luminus for the Reply, But are you sure there is no electronic part added on this car charger ? :?
Strange enough, both my car charger and USB Mains adapter (1A output) (which I was using for O2 Mini and Dopod 818Pro without any problem) was charging fine on my Dopod 838Pro, but the unit had a problem and I was given a new unit. This unit now does not work with my car charger nor the USB Mains adapter.
Looks like a trip down to the service centre again!
it was a cigarettelighterplug adaper with a usb output, with a regular usb/miniusb cable. the adapter was 500mA.( input 12V/output/5V)
it was a complete kit. you could use it for anything you want.
I only attached the TyTN to this adapter.
the adapter couldn't hold it, the amps exceeded the 500mA and stopped loading. the adapter still works on other devices.
the brodit has the same type of adapter, only with a fixed cable on it and 1000mA. this works perfect.
thats why i think that you need a 1000mA one to get it charging.
Hello,
Perhaps true perhaps not...
I used an official Qtek charger -> 1A ..it work
But not sure that due to the 1A because tried to use a self powered USB Hub and it work too ... I will check the official Qtek car charger (if nothing specific)
I use several chargers. i notice that sometimes, if a charger will only charge the device when switched off, i soft reset the device and then it will charge when on. strange problem. the problem of not charging when on, also occurs with chargers that for sure have over 1 amp.
Same problem here......tried to use the mini usb charger I got with my Leadtek BT GPS mouse......
Sometimes it will charge.....sometimes not....
Problem seems to occur when I switch the device on....ie receiving a phonecall or a textmessage....
It then stops charging only to resume after the phone goes back into stby mode....
Weird.....
Danny.
I have the same problem. I have HTC TyTN and 1A car lighter charger with normal USB cable.
Charging from normal, regular charger works. Charging from computer's USB works. Charging from car adapter works only sometimes.
I've tested about ten different car chargers, including one 2A - still nothing.
I've done factory reset of TyTN - after reset it was working for two days.
I have installed only few essential for me programs and no tweaks.
Cable is tested and working.
It makes no difference if I connect device turned on or off. It makes no difference if I reset device connected.
I have no more ideas...
I kept having the same problem but I think I've solved it.
I went into a T-Mobile shop and bought the 'official' car charger for T-Mobile SDA/MDA and I haven't had the problem since.
I've no idea what it's current rating is, because it has no relevant markings on, but it does get pretty warm in use!
help
I am really confused.
I have the sync wire that came with my device. It has stopped working as a charger from the laptop and I can;t active sync. I can however, de-activate the usb link and use the cable to activate my phone as a modem for the pc, so in theory it works at some level.
I also have another lead which is a compact one and it is giving me the same problem.
Both worked until this week so it isn't a case of them not being compatable.
Any ideas. I depserately need to sync. I can charge from the plug so thats no problem.
ahh
I have repaired actve sync and it seems to be ok now. I have no idea what happened.
I purchased a new vent holder with a car charger, and it charges the phone up OK when it is off, but if it is on it says charging but does not actually charge. This is especially annoying with Satnav and after an hour or two the phone dies and I don't know where I am going!
Anyone know what causes this? I guess it can't provide enough power for the device, especially when using the internal GPS, but I think it doesn't even keep up with the device is just turned on.
I am getting another charger just in case, but never had the problem on my old Touch....
..
try -> start/settings/system tab/power/battery tab - uncheck the box "when the device is turned on...."
It isn't ticked...
..
try ticking it..
That will have the opposite effect, it charges fine when plugged into the wall, the problem is something to do with the car.
Does anyone use satnav on a touch HD and have it charge at the same time?
Well there could be one or two issues.
On the USB port there are four connections, a positive and a negative and two data pins. When you plug your Touch HD into a PC power is supplied down the power pins and after negotiating with the USB controller chip over the two data pins the phone will pull up-to 500mA from the power supply to run and charge the phone. This is so the USB port on the PC is not damaged by the phone overloading the power supply to the port.
Without the negotiation with the USB controller chip the device will only charge at 100mA.
But 500mA is not enough to charge the phone with everything running, you will need at least 1000mA to do that (1 Ampere). So that is what your wall charger pushes out. But how does the phone know it can charge at a higher rate? Well inside the charger the data pins on the USB connector are wired in a way that the phone 'sees' that a higher current is available, and pulls a higher charging current.
So what you need is a minimum current 1 Amp car charger. If you already have a 1 Amp then the chances are that is does not have the data pins connected properly and the phone will not draw the higher current, meaning it will only charge at 100mA.
Thanks, I am going to try another one and see if that helps, perhaps it is just faulty, otherwise I will check if it is 1Amp.
Cheers.
I contacted the seller and they sent me a new one, which works. So it turns it my charger was just faulty.
What's the rating of the new one? and where did you get it from. I bought a 2amp (supposedly) but it doesn't give me more than 500mA.
I've had this problem and it sucks! As I'm always out on the road. But I have found a few solutions. I purchased a mini usb charger from asda for £6. After adjusting the backlight to medium this charger seems to keep the power level the same as it was before you plugged it in, so It doesn't let the battery go flat. I've now learnt to keep a spare charged battery in the car just in case it fails.
the other day my phone feel of the couch while pluggd into the pc. it stopped chargibg and woukd not connext to pc.
i lost the original cable so ive been using a mini to micro usb adapter for an old cable i had for my g1 which hss worked perfectly.
thought i had broke the sockey on thr phone. had a tmobile shop check it with there cable. it was fine. so boyght a microusb cable.
everything seemed fine. charge light. usb drive worked internet tether. but then the phone ran out of battety while usb tethering. it always stays at 100% before.
with the battery low it woukf rrstart every minute whole plugged into original chargrr.
its charging but very slowly. 15% in 2 hours. checked battery pins. seems fine. i dkd manage to get 37% charge in 30 monutes once irh the phone off.
the phone doesnt even get warm while plugged in. it used to get pretty warm when cuargibg.
tried hard reset. trief reflashig rom. it knows wall charger is in. says charging orange charge light.. but it charges sooo slow...
im stuck. is this a repair jobk
Just got home and tried the new cable in my home PC. ive already lost 1% battery in the space of a few miutes usb tethering....
make sure you have the "don't charge the phone while connected via usb" unchecked. Other than that, sounds like a hardware problem.
i cant find that setting, only do not charge when the phone is on., which is off. Ive just noticed something else. the brightness setting for AC power effects the brigthness when connected to usb. I dont think it knows the difference between ac and usb anymore.

when you plug it into the wall, do you get the menu for: Activesync, Disk Drive, Internet Sharing? If so, then this is true. Really sounds like a hardware issue. I would take it back in and see if they can replace the port.
nope, when i plug it into the wall, no menu. it does seem to know the difference between usb and power. as using the option "when phone is on, do not charge when the pohone is connected to pc" has no effect with the wall charger.
I tried a different wall charger. I have a travel charger which is only rated at 500ma instead of 1amp and it charges the same. I was able to get 100% overnight. woke up after 8 hours to see the green light on, it stays at 100% with the wall charger as long as you leave it alone.
back into the computer, tethering and im loosing battery as if it wasnt connected.
Looks like ill have to dig out my insurance as its not a warranty repair (and also the water damage stickers are red, due to it being dropped in the toilete 3 months ago)
hmmm interesting. phone has been in charger overnight and was at 100% when i got up, pluigged into pc for usb tethering, despite battery dropping the green light is still on.
Ive done some searches on usb micro cables and came across people having problems with some data cables with charging, as some cables cannot cope with the large current required, but they mentioned that there phone would say this and i have seen that on my phone before with my front usb ports on my computer.
Im gonna order a microusb adabter as i have 2 high qualiity usb-mini usb cables from a G1 (which was usbed with an adapter with no problems) and 1 from a tmobile mda varia, same cable.
This has now been solved. After closer examination of the USB mini to micro adapter, it apeared that the 2 outside pins (which are for charging) had been flattened. Looking at the adapter, you could only see the 3 middle pins, but with a torch you could see that the oiutside pins were compelty flat. from droping the phone its oviously twisted the connector resultinin in flatting those pins.
I went back to tesco and bought the same USB kit which comes with a mini USB cable and several converters to fit different phones.
AFter hooking up the cable and micro usb adapter to my PC, my phone was within minutes showing increase in battery charge. After a few hours with usb tethering enabled and watching videos online im up 2-%.
The cable i bought for £7.99 which is micro usb though doesnt mention any HTC phones (mostly nokia) will connect perfectly for data transfer and the phone appears to say its charging. It looses power suggesting insuficient charge current. Maybe its the rom im using disables thsi warning as i have seen this before when i connected my phone to the front usb ports, but it works fine with the back.
So, it seems i have not damaged anything apart from the usb adapter i was using.
All is well, and im charging at a fast rate with USB while tethering.
Please close this trhead as it is resolved.
Final update. After several days i have been usb tethering and charging absolutly fine. Using 1amp charger charges fast!
Even from a dead battery can plug into usb and have the phone bootup.

I bought this hdmi cable from amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K61OB6C/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I hooked up the tab to the tv, cranked up netflix and nothing. I plugged in the power adapter and got a picture. So needs charger to plugged in to work. I wasn't real keen on the output, but was only testing for connectivity. Might come back and edit after I have chance to adjust settings.
Today, I plugged the cable into the second hdmi port on my tv and it does mirror the tab display. Good response time too.
The charger is necessary but it does not charge the Tab. Left it plugged in and battery was down to 38% before i noticed.
Maybe a hardware error? Because under features it's described that it will charge your device...

Probably not a hardware error. I'm on my 3rd dongle that's supposed to charge your tablet while using connected devices. The latest is this one: http://www.amazon.com/E-More%C2%AE-Multi-functional-Connection-Reader-Samsung/dp/B00K80C9CE/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1403104007&sr=8-8&keywords=HDTV+HDMI+Adapter+Cable+USB+OTG+Card+Reader
Everything works except for charging the tablet. Have a red X on the charging symbol while the battery continues to drain. It does charge the tablet while it's off. I have a power hungry Tab Pro 12.2 that has trouble maintaining a charge while playing a couple games with the stock 2 amp charger. I'm beginning to think that none of the HDMI dongles out there are capable of delivering the current necessary to run the larger tablets.
Ah, I see. It's because not enough power through the micro usb. You need 2A but this adapter's only delivering 1A.
It seems, there a no adapters with 2A...
I have a ton of usb chargers gathered over the years. Largest i have is only 5.1 volts. Tab has a large output. Wonder if other devices could be damaged using it or is output regulated by draw of whatever it is attached to? At any rate, i don't think any of the dongles or otg cables have a power source other than what is supplied by the tabs adapter. So are you thinking it is an issue with the pin configuration on the adapter? It is a 11 pin connector. Sure wish there was 1 standard for everyone instead of everyone having their own.

It's not limitated by the pins, there are just for more or less possibilities for an interchange (at least a salesman told me that). It's limited by the inside electronical components. Maybe anybody out there to explain it better or correct my words?
If I remember correctly (it's been a couple years since I tested it), my S3 required the Samsung charger + Samsung wire hooked up to the HDMI (I have the Samsung HDMI adapter) to charge the device while mirroring the screen. I tried it with a more powerful power adapter (2.1 amps vs Samsung 1.x amps) and generic wire but the phone would lose power over time. I could even charge the phone while mirroring if I used a generic Samsung wall charger and Samsung cord that was listed as 0.8 amps.
I bought the official Samsung one a few weeks ago and it is working fine, it also charges the device while using it but you have to connect a charger to the MHL-HDMI adapter.
Sadly I recently flashed CM11 on my TabPRO 10.1 and now the adapter doesn't work anymore. I get picture but no sound Was so happy about getting CM11 official on my device, but this feature is something I can't live without so I'm going to have to hop back to stockbased
HDMI doesn´t work
Hi guys! I´ve bought this one adapter dhgate.com/product/1-1-mhl-11-pin-micro-usb-to-hdmi-cable-hdtv/163941539 I know is not the original one but doesnt work!!!! I did all the steps but nothing. Any idea?? I have installed the original ROM on my galaxy tab t520. I need help!!! Thanks
Hey everyone, so just reading all the comments regarding the HDMI adapter not charging your tab while it is plugged in with the charger, I have also had issues with it and also with my Note2 and the Samsung Smart Dock I use with it. But I did however manage to find the solution to why it would not charge while on the HDMI dock that is connected to my T.V. It seams that if you plug either the Smart Dock or even the HDMI connectors to the HDMI cable first then plug in the charger it will show its charging but will eventually lose charge while outputting an HDMI output, instead, you need to first plug in the charger cable into your HDMI adapter, then plug it into your phone or tablet and finally plug in the HDMI cable into the adapter, I have found this to be the way to keep my phone and tablet charging while also having the HDMI output connected to my T.V..
Hope this helps .
Hello everyone,
I was wondering if there is a way to increase the charge rate while connected to an MHL adapter.
I have a 2014 Civic Si that literally has an HDMI input for the head unit.
I bought an MHL adapter and it works very well other than a safety limitation that stops screen mirroring while driving, and the fact that even if I am just using it to get the best quality audio into my head unit with the screen turned off, the MHL adapter uses more current than it returns to the phone, resulting in battery loss.
I have the usb power connected to a 2 amp 12v charger that works fantastic when it is just connected with a regular micro usb cable so I know its not the charger.
I have found some evidence that there is a mod that can basically tell the phone that it is connected via AC to take more current.
Would be awesome if someone could provide this, or another solution to this problem. I imagine there are a lot of people like me out there who like to use MHL adapters but don't want their battery to die.
Thanks
Check the quality of the cord. If it's some cheapo one from like eBay or something that may be the problem.
I've found that some of my older degraded cords won't charge the phone while I'm using it.
Also if you roll/folded the cord up sometimes it can pinch it just right to not supply the right charging power.

To be clear it does show that it is charging (via USB) but its using more current than its getting thus end result is the drain.
It could very well be the cable - hence why I am asking if anyone can recommend a tried and tested solution of MHL + charge that actually charges it quickly.
Thanks,
BDS
