hi there everyone.does anyone out there have rom manager working on the streak running 2.1 8105.cos im pulling my hair out.im thinking that the clockwork mod does not support 8105 cos when i try to boot into recovery it does reboots as normal ie dell logo then o2 bubbles screen.ive done everything i think i should have ie rooted using universal androot flashed the clockworkmod on rom manager itself.im a bit new to all this.im doing as much research as i can.i just cant find anything helpfull.im sure you guys can help.
Same here Unlocked Streak with 8105 O2 2.1, Androot and actual Rom-Manager from market.
Neither making backups nor booting to recovery works.
new update
becouse my phone gets the black screen when trying to boot into recovery.ie choosing option 2 on the boot recovery screen then the screen goes black instead of going to the clockwokmod recovery screen.when the new update comes out will it work.cos thats how update.pkg is instaled. i installed the leacked 2.1 6941 build.via update.pkg.the only reason i tried rom manager was to put 2.2 on my phone.maybe i shouldnt have put the 8105 update on my phone cos if my phone dont do ota updates i dont know what to.im gonna try reading some guides on here and modaco and see what i can pick up there.just hope i dont brick it.lol
Yea. I tried ROM Manager too. I'm still on AT&T 1.6, with no luck. I wonder if it works with 2.2? I guess that program would be too easy...
Still kinda waiting for the official 2.2 update cuz I'm affraid I wont be able to get back to 1.6 if I want to return the phone...
works
hi all check this out
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
its works with me after upgrading to an official 2.2
baseband: ...31800
hope u can do it well
if u have any question , we are ready
Repeat post, and I have no idea how I did that...
hi all after having my phone repaired it came back as a stock 1.5 android phone i rooted it and then flashed a custom recovery image to hack my ps3 iv now updated my ps3 to play online and no longer need the psfreedom mod to use backup games on my ps3 so iv now reflashed the recovery console with amon-ra's recovery image and performed a nandroid backup
now as the OTA update to 2.1 doesnt work as its rooted with a different recovery image im looking to flash a custom rom. i did try the modaco custom rom but after a succsefull flash all i now get when the phone loads is a message saying "sorry the application htc sense (process com.htc.launcher) has stopped unexpectedly. please try again"
so i was wondering what roms people would recomend 2.1 preferably unless theres a 2.2 rom thats stable and isnt slow and is worth using (i havent researched 2.2 roms iv done a fair bit of reading on 2.1 roms though)
and i must admit im pretty much a newb when it comes to phones (although im pretty technically minded with pc's) so i havent flashed a radio or anything like that and would not be to sure how to go about it if i needed to so a rom that would work with my current radio would be preferable although with a good guide im willing to flash the radio if neccasery i just dont want to brick my phone
or failing that does anyone know where i can get the official 2.1 as zip file to flash via recovery
here are stock 2.1 zip files http://www.villainrom.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?1876-Stock-GSM-HTC-Hero-2.1-Update-Files-here! hope this helps as for best 2.1 roms just flash and give them a try i like rcmix and ezhero.
I'm reading the streakdroid 2.0 thread and it says that i need to flash a new baseband/DSP for it to work properly (but im reading in some places that i dont need the baseband)
I'm not really sure how to do this since im on a mac. I have android sdk and the fastboot command when i flashed the custom recovery on my streak.
any help would be great.
I had Trigger 3.1 ono my phone and wanted to go with nero 3 beta. When I installed Nero 3 beta my phone froze and was stuck on the logo nonstop. I used odin and reloaded the stock vibrant T959 software. My question is can I install a rom on the phone after using odin and fixing it, or do I have to root it and so on.
I bought the phone rooted so I don't quiet know how it was done and what was done to it.
Thanks in advance.
No you don't have to root it if you can keep a copy of cwr on your sd card and move it back into your phone storage when you lose it. People who flash roms usually only root their phone when they need to redownload cwr through the root required app.
So all I have to do is get into the recovery mode and choose to install from SD card and load for example bionix v. 1.3.1? By the way is Bionix v 1.3.1 a good rom? I'm looking for something that will be the most stable and won't drop calls or have problems with searching for signal.
Thanks!
So, my wife just got her new vibrant. I rooted, and started going about getting a few useful apps...then discovered that apparently, on the stock Android 2.1, ROM Manager is no longer available. Mine, (2.2 custom ROM) shows it in the marked. On my wife's phone, though, there's only premium. Simple fact is, after just buying a couple hundred dollar phone, we can't afford a $10.00 app as well.
Anyone know of any place where I can get an older version of ROM Manager free, or even an Odin flashable CWM Recovery? Anything I can use to get her running a non-stock ROM?
Nevermind. I managed to copy the (2.2) app from my Ti backup onto her phone, and it's working like a charm...no clue why it's not available in the market, and appbrain said it wasn't compatible...
Should anyone else have the issue, if you can get it onto the phone, the newest ROM Manager works just fine on 2.1
You can pull the free version APK from data/app folder on your phone. Oops you already got it, sorry.

Same problem
I just rooted my phone and it automatically installed android 2.1 as the software on my phone, I cannot update my software through the phone as clockwork recovery blocks it.
I tried to install rom manager but it's giving me parse errors as its not compatible.
What can I do here guys?
HELP no rom manager
Rom maager is now only available for 2.2 and higher. I have been looking for an older version to no avail. Please if anyone knows of a way to do this let me know. I have tried to fastboot CWM recovery doing it everyway I could find and it doesn't do anything. I have the Huawei Ascend and no matter what try I can't get it to load Rom Manager or CWM recovery, hen I reboot it just goes to the android 2A screen with only 4 options...rebot...load from SD card (which does absolutely nothing)...wipe data..wipe cashe. I see all these posts about going from 2.1 to gingerbread 2.3.4 there must be a way, any help would be greatful. Thanks

would you mind uploading a copy of rom manager here or somewhere else? i have the same problem but i don't have a backup of the apk. I would greatly appreciate it!
I have the same problem, I switched from Gingerbread to android 2.1 (Heroine rom for HTC hero, excellent&superfast rom by the way!) and now I can't install Rom manager anymore, also can't recover it from Titaniumbackup(Parsing errors). In market I can only buy the premium, since I'm travelling and am on a low budget the price is too high for me at this moment. Hope anyone has a solution for this!
Has anyone found a solution yet? I'm having the same problem with my Hero. Downgraded it to 2.1 and now I can't install rom manager.
The only thing that comes to mind is go to 4shared.com and search for an older version of rom manager apk
cwm version?
I am in the same situation. Just flashed to JFD. I bought the paid version of Rom Manager from the market. But when I open it, it tells me that its just the license key and I need to install the free version for it to work. Of course I can't dl the free version.
I didn't see anything in the paid version description that said needed 2.2. I really think if the paid version can't be used on 2.1 it should not show up in market for me either. Spent 6 bucks for nothing.

Guys I had this problem too. Just go on 4shared.com and search rom manager apk. go through every file til you see one that was uploaded over a year ago. And make sure its the apk and not the premium licence. This apk should install on your phone. Good Luck!!
ROM Manager for 2.1 update1
What is the latest version of rom manager (free) B4 it went to 2.2 being the oldest that can be used?
You can download the update.zip from my signature and put it on your internal card labeled Update.zip. Boot into recovery and scroll down to Reinstall Packages. Hit it. It will cycle through and come back to the blue (stock) recovery. Scroll down to Reinstall Packages again and hit it again. The recovery will go from Stock (blue) to CWR (green). From there you can load up whatever ROM you have on your sd cards.
Far far easier than tring to find an old outdated ROMManager.apk
Thanks....i have Hero with Android 2.1 and after i search found old version of ROM manager that work on it...here i upload it to us:

After a hellacious day trying to get my phone back working from a mother of all eff ups after trying to install CM9, I have been in the same position as others trying to get the phone rooted and a custom recovery installed.
I tried your update.zip and it doesn't work.
Any other ideas?
Are you on 2.1? It should work just fine. I think that there might be an issue with the Kies stock 2.2 where it may not work. Not sure since I have never even seen stock 2.2.
In fact I just used the update.zip last weekend to come off Zen and test a 2.2 I am working on. Where are you getting stuck at?

Anyone who yet found a rom manager for 2.1, I have the same problem and all old mirrors are offline. I only managed to root my phone, but installing CWM by adb fails, so this seems my only option.
http://www.mediafire.com/?le792b932cd4ac9 should work for you i tried it not to long ago on a old hawei ascend i found
