Is there a way to change the stock theme on the D2G or at least change the color of the status bar without having to flash a new rom like Fission?

well if you want to be able to get OTA updates, then no there isnt, because in order to install themes you need to deodex the rom your on, and deodexing the rom means you cant install the updates, so if you want custom themes the best thing to do is install a custom rom, i want to be able to get OTA updates so i havent themed my rom, and i froze all the bloatware to reinstall once an update comes
But if you install a custom rom, then you dont get the ota updates, right? Unless you install a new updated rom, right?
Thank you,

yup, cant get OTA updates on a custom rom :/ i suggest that if you want to stay with the stock rom, just freeze the bloatware you dont need like i did and install a new custom launcher off the market
Thank you for the advise

At the moment I'm running JI6 stock rooted and OCLF. I was thinking of installing the new "Core v1" or Bionix but I just had a couple questions.
After I install a new rom, and a new update comes out, do I have to reflash the new update? Or is there a option in the rom itself to update to the newer version?
This is my first android phone and so far searching has gotten me all the answers I need but this one I have not found an answer to.
Thanks alot!
In short, you will not get an update notification on most if not all custom roms. On the plus side, these new features are usually leaked and implemented into the roms prior to the OTA updates so you really won't need them.

Sorry, I know that I won't receive official updates OTA when a rom is installed.
What I meant was if I were to, for example, flash Bionix 1.3, and a day or two later Bionix 1.4 was released, would I be able to update from the phone itself or would I have to reflash the new rom?
Im downgrading to 2.11.605.5 , I currently have 2.11.605.9. After doing this and using revolutionary I was not sure if I will still be on 2.11.605.5 after I root? If so, will I have to flash a rom that has 2.11.605.9 built in it? And if I stay stock rooted will I keep getting messages about an update from Verizon? I really want to stay stock rooted, but can flash a custom rom if there is one that is a stock / debloated type of Sense rom.
Anyone? Thanks.
You will get the update nag unless you install a rooted OTA update version of the stock ROM. I know those are available, quick search yields a couple versions, some fully stock, some with tweaking to remove bloat.
Take a look at what's available, choose and flash one after backing up your current setup.
The radios are a different story. Their performance varies by geography and device. Again, search and read up on them and flash to see what works for you.
Ymmv from that of others.

ATT Note I was running custom Roms before but kept having problems so I Decided to go back to stock using this Guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1634087
got my Flash counter at 0 everything is back to stock and all back normal
now is there a root method that i can root my phone without tripping the flash counter? for the stock ICS 4.0.4 From Kies
I would prefer stock Kernel if that possible all i want root for is to remove some bloatware I dont care about anything else just wanna get rid of these stupid ATT crap
Mahalo
Is there a partiular reason you want to keep it bare bones stock? Or do you just not want custom rom/kernel? ::Edit:: found a much better place here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1740367 that has everything you need!
ya i dont want a custom Rom cause i had so many problems and i just said **** it im going back to stock and all i want is root
I been to that thread u have me a link to before but i see no way to Root the Offical ICS Rom from Kies
there is only root methods for the Leaked Rom
are there any root only methods for just stock? no custom kernel Rom etc..
On the thread it says rooting official ICS ROM

Then install the GB modem so you wont have any problems with gps locks. Been running it since it was posted.

I don't own a ROM, the my dd is bigfau ROM, BLACK STAR.
I'm sure this question has been asked before, but is it at all possible for me to get some of the stock apps from vanilla android onto my S4 without flashing a new ROM? Things like messaging and contacts and the like. Just looking to get a stock feel without necessarily needing to flash a whole new rom and then go through the trial phase and then restoring all my apps.

Will this overwrite the current TW apps, or will I have to freeze and/or remove them?
You can keep both i believe

I'm currently running cyanogenmod on my S4, and I want to try out the 4.4.2 version of touchwiz when that becomes available for our phone, but I probably will want to go back to cyanogenmod afterward. So is there a way to do this without my phone being completely locked down upon installing touchwiz. For instance will using a custom rom based on Touchwiz made by someone else still lock down my bootloader and such?
Thanks in advance.

If you flash a custom rom then it should not; but if you make a OTA Update with the stock Touchwiz, then you will lose
Hope this helps

don't do ota and just wait for some developers to update their touchwiz based custom roms that runs 4.4.2 and install.
if you update the ota, you will lose the ability to get a custom recovery that works with aosp or cm.

That's what I was planning to do, I just wanted to make sure using a custom touchwiz rom wouldn't have the same result on my recovery that the ota would

No it wouldn't because the devs remove all the stock OTA options. Not that they'd take an OTA anyways cuz you'd be so far from stock anyways. The only updates you'd be getting would be directly from that roms devs only
