I'm looking for a scrollable contacts widget that shows ALL contacts (not just favourites or frequently used) and which lists the contacts by surname first. The closest I've found is "Photo Contacts Widget" which does the job excellently except that it only lists by first name. I also tried "Scrollable ContactsWidget", but this brings up the error message "Sorry, your launcher is too old, please update it!", which is incorrect as I'm running the latest version of Launcher Pro on a Streak running 2.2.
Can anyone suggest any others, please?

Sorry if I have posted this in the incorrect area....
I have just installed Android 2.1 on my Hero and I am having a few problems with Facebook syncing.
Every single one of my Facebook contacts appears in People. So I select "View" and uncheck the Facebook tick box. Only my Gmail contacts now appear - great problem solved.
However when I go into "Messages" and select "People" all of my Facebook contacts still appear. Does anyone know how to get rid of these to only show Gmail contacts in Messages?
Thanks in advance.
sorry to be the arse that tells you this, and as you correctly mentioned, you posted this in the incorrect area, also would be helpful if you mentioned the ROM you are using etc
Really sorry. Im using Villain 6.2 but I think this is a general 2.1 issue rather than a specific ROM.
Thanks,
Dan.
I seem to have found an Android 2.1 bug, and it's due to the supposedly improved integration with Timescape and Contacts..
Timescape now automatically updates your contact list with facebook and twitter contacts. That's nice, isn't it?
Unfortunately, I don't know anyone on my twitter account (it's all software houses and product updates and stuff), and I don't know (or want to know) the phone numbers of most of my facebook friends.
Luckily, there is an option in contacts to only show contacts from certain sources, so you can tell it not to show contacts from facebook or twitter, or even google or the phone.
Alas, you can tell it until you're blue in the face, but it still shows them, no matter what you yell it to show. :|
But fear not; there is also an option to hide contacts who have no phone number! Sweet, huh? Well, no - that doesn't work, either. :'(
So now my contact list is full of people I don't want to phone, and the only way to get rid of them is to sign out of my accounts in Timescape, meaning Timescape is useless. I'm just glad I'm not one of those people with hundreds of random facebook friends!
*sigh*
Yep. I have exactly the same problem. It's weird though - I have a Google contact, and a facebook contact. The FB contact is correctly linked to the google contact but in some situations (Usually where the FB name has a nickname or summat) they're displayed again. But you can 'delete' them.
I'm just dealing with the Big List. I came from a Palm Pre so I'm fairly search oriented anyway.
same problem here; i don't think this bug is related to Timescape... the whole options screen is buggy, you can see the "google", "facebook", etc labels go away when you select one of them.

i have no problem with that on my phone, i have link my contacts with timescape, facebook and twitter and i still only have my google contacts shown in contacts
Did you upgrade to 2.1? Does the "hide contacts without phone number" (or whatever it is in english) option also work?

yes all works
i also noticed that the starred (favorites) contacts tab disappeared from the contact list.
[edit]
...ok, solved! It's a Launcher PRO default shortcut bug. If you open the contact list from the applications list, all the problems (missing starred tab, messy list) go away. So... delete the default contact list icon, and recreate it.

Anyone else have an issue with the HTC Calendar Widget since T-Mobile's latest update for the Amaze?
Previously it used to show me events for things like my friends birthdays using the information from Facebook. Noticed today that it wasn't showing my my friend's birthday. Seems like it just no longer displays that information. Just me or everyone have this issue now with HTC's Calendar Widget?
I've even removed it from the Home screen, and re-added it. During the re-add I confirmed that Facebook was checked/selected still as one of the sources it should get data from.

Mine is displaying just fine.
Are you talking about calendar 1, 2 or 3?
I am using 1.
HTC Calendar Widget version 3.0.2118282653.140764
HTC Calendar version 3.02120283257.184156
View Mode 3/3 (small bar).
Set on first Home screen under the Clock/Weather Widget.
I've force stopped both of the above apps and done a clear data with no luck.
If I go to 'Settings|Account and Sync|Facebook' and then click 'Sync Calendar' to try and force it to Sync it ends up with a Red Exclamation Mark and the text "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." Same appears for 'Live Feed'.
The dates for both the last Calendar Sync and Last Live Feed sync to Facebook show as Mon, Dec 12 2:07PM which is a bit before the phone got upgraded to 1.43.531.3 from T-Mobile over the air.
I've also tried rebooting the phone and have even pulled the battery.
EDIT: Solution Found.
Found this via some posts on the net related to syncing Facebook contacts but appears to have worked for calendar as well.
1). from a PC, Logon to Facebook, hit dropdown on right of screen and select 'Account Settings'
2). Click Apps, then remove permissions for HTC Sense
3). On the Phone, Go to 'Settings|Applications|Manage Applications|All'
4). Find "Facebook for HTC Sense" and click it.
5). Force Stop, then Clear Cache if available, then Clear Data
6). Hold Power on the phone and select "Restart"
7). When the phone boots back up you'll have to authorize Facebook for HTC Sense again and then it will work.
Everything is good now. Calendar, Live Feed, and Contacts are all syncing now (before only Contacts were syncing).
Coming from Runnymede AIO V6 on my Desire and really liked the stock HTC Weather Clock Widget in 4x1. Does anyone know how to port just that widget to say, NRG's 2.27.12 ROM? Attached are screenshots of the widget and the details for it if that helps.
Cheers.

Figured out it is a Sense 3.5 option. Switched ROM's to Xboarder's Sense 3.5 RC1.7 and it is in there.
Cheers
Hello,
I have an unbranded German S II. Since updating to Android 4.0.3 (through Samsung Kies), the standard calendar widget doesn't work like it used to anymore.
I synchronize with my Google account where I have multiple different calendars for different purposes (work, freetime, projects, etc.). On my phone I can go into the calendar app's configuration and tick the boxes of those calendars I want to have synchronized and shown. It used to work like that and I could make it so that only my work appointments would be shown on the calendar widget on my homescreen.
Now, after updating to ICS, the calendar widget will show all calendars at all times, rendering it less useful. No amount of fiddling with the properties has corrected this. After asking in two other forums, this is my last hope.
I really hope somebody here knows the problem and might be able to help. Or is this really just me? Thanks in advance!
I don't have a direct answer to your question, but if the stock calendar widget isn't behaving how you'd like it to, there's a Play Store brimming with alternatives. I'm sure at least one will function in the way you're hoping.
Yeah, I know. I don't need any fancy, skinnable, customizable calendar apps that fill the android market. I'd rather have the stock widget that just does what I want it to. Seeing as this worked fine before the update, I hoped there was something I could do. Alas, seems as if that is not the case. Thanks though
Hello, i have exactly the same problem. Did you find any solution ?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
It's good to hear someone finally acknowledging the problem. I was starting to question my sanity as it seems that out of millions of owners of the SII only I have the problem. Finally someone else speaks up, thank you for that
Sadly, I have not found a solution since. I completely changed the way I organize my events in google calendar. It's not as well organized as it was before but it gets the job done. Still, I would prefer if the calendar worked like it did before...
If you don't want to redo your whole google calendar organization, I guess you could indeed try a third party calendar. The play store is full of calendar apps; I was overwhelmed, because I just want a simple and clean calendar, like the stock one.

When you select the widget, you should be prompted to select which calaendar to display. If it doesn't, check out this alternative widget. You can still use your default calendar, but use this widget instead of the stock:
Simple Calendar Widget
with reference to Stock Touchwiz 4.4.2 rom on Note 3 - I'm trying to find a better interface for adding new contacts and have tried Contacts+ and exDialer. However, what i realize is that whenever I hit 'add new contact' in either app, it directs me to the default samsung add contact UI.
after i tried freezing the stock Contacts app using TB, both apps tell me 'there is no available app for this action' for adding new contacts.
any idea why and is there any alternative to this issue?
Thank you.
