Usb host - After 2.1 Not enough Power - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey Guys,
My Medion 320 gb 2,5" hdd worked very well at 2.1..
but since i have froyo my hdd doesn't work anymore!
im not a dev but i think this is because the 101 give not enough power to the hdd. ( * the lamp at the hdd is on but the hdd is not turning.. )
I have tried normal stock os and urukdroid ( 0.6 & 0.7 ) but nothing works.
I dont know but maybe someone can compile a kernel with more usbhost power output?^^
Or what can i do? Im not interested to buy me a new ( i know - 50€ - but im 14 = not enough money )
Hope anyone can help me..

What happens when you plug it in? You may need the NTFS Fix if you are on UKD.7

Oh hi razor! i just want to say how great your theme is again!
but now my problem:
What is the ntfs fix?^^ i dont know it.
Greetz,
lenn

Or it may be that you have the USB host port failure that many of us are seeing. (Just got an RMA# and sent mine in because of it.)
When you sleep or deep-sleep it, does the power light now stay on? That's a symptom.

Moved as not android development.

[Q] Crypto tablet (GRC) based on tcc8803 800mhz dead. Any chance to revive ?

Hi to all
I have a tab with following specs
TCC8803 800mhz, 256ram, 4gb intern SD, display 7" 800x480 capacitive, HDMI, rtl8188cus wifi, no 3g. no bluetooth, no gps, support extern SD -32gb,

tab was rooted worked ok till tried to put Linux through Internet. Was downloading packages and then wifi lost connection.
ever since the chip warm-up ( opened tab and felt it ! ) but no display or sound at all !! I think i left it on debug mode in order to have
external keyboard work.
windows 7 will see it as 'unknown/ unrecognized' device, i forced ADB drivers to it, I get Android phone but also 'device cannot start.
Tried to conx with TV via HDMI but nothing there too.
I went through many forums, potential solutions but cant find anything applicable to my problem. Tried to format a 4gb SD with sardu
tested ok with quemu but nothing on the tab. no lights, no sound, silence of death !!! FYI no power led on this 150 euro device.

So decided to ask for help / ideas in this forum.

[Q] EngelDroid EN1007M

I'd bought this WE a little box from Engel Axil with Android 2.3.
This box is powered by an ARM CORTEX (armv7) processor with 512Mo of RAM and 2Go stockage.
More info HERE.
I'd installed openssh and I can see the return of 'uname -a':
Code:
Linux localhost 2.6.34 V1.3.0-70-gee2481e(20120217.100957) armv7l GNU/Linux
A spanish community seem to have succeed to make a ICS release for it HERE, but they don't say anything about the procedure to install this.
Is there somebody here which will be able to explain me how to upgrade my Engeldroid ?
With 'busybox installer' and ssh terminal, I am able to get root access.
Now I try to set the default home launcher to something else than original spanish launcher....
I'm interested in this too!
The EngelDroid 1007M looks just like what I need, but I don't like that its software is in spanish.

Hello Guys,
I'm living in Spain myself and bought me one of these nifty boxes as well and started to fizzle around with it.
Here are my findings with it so far:
Android:
The box comes standard with Android 2.4.3 (or was it 2.3.4, I'm at work right now and can't remember correctly ) but can be upgraded to a 4.0.3 version that is made by Mygica.es.
The link to download the upgrade is indeed the link you've posted.
To install this upgrade you will need to download the zipfile, rename it to update.img and copy it to a clean SD Card.
Make sure that the Engeldroid is powered off and put the SD Card in the Engeldroid.
Than take something pointy and press and hold the reset button on the back (the smal little hole) and plug in the power connection to boot the Engeldroid in update mode. You can release the reset button when you see the restore-android-logo appearing on the screen.
The droid will now look for the update.img on the SD Card and start updating your box. There will be a random offset message but that is nothing to worry about and does not give any problems with the installation.
The first time after installing this new Android version the unit will take up to 15 minutes to boot it due to installing all settings and default apps from this custom rom.
The normal remote control with the keyboard on the back won't work anymore, but the motion controller will. It is highly advisable to connect a wireless keyboard and/or mouse or combination. Myself, I'm using a Logitech K400 keyboard/touchpad combination which works flawless.
Another option for the Media Center tweakers would be to install Linux with XBMC on this.
It is nowhere comfirmed but that is how I am using my Engeldroid at the moment and it turned my droid box into a proper XBMC media center and Samba file server that shares all my movies from the connected disc on the network as well.
The install procedure is the almost the same as with the other ROMS, download, unpack the zipfile, make sure the file is called update.img, copy to the root of the SD Card, plug it in and reset the droid with the reset button hold.
The link for the specific build of XBMC Linux that is working with our droid I can't post here yet, but search on google for: Pivos XBMC-Linux Beta 100912 and you will find the Pivos forums with the release topic of this ROM.
Don't try the Android ROM from Pivos, it is not compatible with the Engeldroid EN1007M. No worries if you want to try it, it won't blow up our box but just won't install.
If you have any more specific questions, please ask or send me a message or email and I will get in touch with you.
Official update
There is an official update for this device to ICS 4 (site in spanish though)
engeldroid . com
Got to "Nueva ROM Android 4 ICS" --> "ROM Android 4 ICS" (I'd link it but I don't have 10 posts yet )

[Q] Archos 101G9 [ROM] [4.3.1] CyanogenMod 10.2

I am new so I cannot post this in the developper section.
Please repost it there for me.
I have an Archos 101G9 Turbo with 512Mb RAM both on woot dot com a while ago.
Last night, I installed [ROM] [4.3.1] CyanogenMod 10.2
works perfectly; faster than the previous ICS rooted ROM.
GPS seems to work, camera is OK (not nice picture but at least work and with color).
Sound works.
Didn't test the MIC, bluetooth and USB mounting.
I tried the 2013-11-08 build.
The HDMI does not seems to work.
I tried to change the HDCP settings in the settings app, but I still get nothing on my TV and it was working with the ICS rooted ROM.
Did anybody can confirm my finding ?
I think the problem might be that the Archos 80G9 does not use the same HDMI chip as the 101G9; so the driver could be missing from the build.
I say other custom ROM having problems with HDMI, so maybe we could check what they did and it might help.
Will test the MIC, bluetooth and USB mounting (from the mini-usb connector, not the full USB port) today.
I have no 3G stick, so I cannot test the USB port. (and really don't care, except if someone can active it as a full USB port)
bluetooth does not work
MIC works. SD card R & W works.
external USB via NTFS mounter R & W works (superuser root access works)
but bluetooth does not seems to work. It cannot find my Pebble watch and my old ROM was able in the past.
Anybody can test the bluetooth on Archos 101G9 ?
Also I have and 8Gb version, not Hard Drive.
Hello,
same for me 'I am new so I cannot post this in the developer section.'
I have installed the latest 02_12 version with the 101 kernel provided by Quallenauge (thanks)
but I have problems with the display. The boot logo is stretched and the tool bar is on the right side and the Google search bar on the left.
The size on the screen is very small and I cannot add widgets or APPs on the right or left side (~3 cm on both side).
I had the 08_11 version before updating to the 02_12 and there was no problem
(And before 08_11 the original 4.0.28 version was on the tablet).
Can somebody help?
Fixed. After re-downloding of the kernel zimage the flashing was successfully.

[Q] PiPo M3 Storage acting odd

I have a PiPo M3 (bad tablet .. Don't buy it) that i am trying to get a little bit life out of...
But.. It is acting super odd.. It's a 16 gb tablet (or it was sold to me like that)
But internal storage shows as only 1gb? See first attached file
And that little amount of storage is just... Useless
There is also something called nand flash, where the rest of my space is (13.26 gb) but that space is not used when installing apps? (So again useless)
See second attached file
It is running the rom that the tablet was shipped with, android 4.1 (can't find a better rom for the m3)
Is there anyway to fix this (broken) tablet?
Or should i just throw it out...
Any help/feedback would be really appreciated
Any one? :/
I could really use some help
Please help :/
Is this the wrong place to ask or what is going on? Not even a single reply...
Can anyone tell me a better place to ask for help?

android on a TL10IE2 (panasonic/intel and ECS-elitegroup)

howdy ,
i hope i am posting in the right area ... i looked around and didn't see anything specifically related .
i recently acquired one of the intel "educational" tablets that (according to lore) was actually manufactured by a third party while panasonic and intel put their name on it .
intel did provide the uPC ... Z3740D / 1.8 GHz / Quad Core :
this machine also goes under the name of "3E" .
i loaded W10 on it to check it out and installed the drivers .
it works nicely , is fairly quick in response and the display looks very acceptable for a tablet .
it is a dual touch and actually has two speakers on the front corners !
the machine looks like it was never really used ... it just sat on a shelf in some school .
in short , for 65 bucks i got a *new* pad w/cradle-keyboard and power supply .
now , for the why i am here part .
i am not a W10 fan by any stretch of the imagination , so i figured i would try loading linux mint or android on it .
forget linux anything ... it will not load , the uefi and secureboot flag it .
(a couple other guys over at the panasonic forum at notebookreview have tried as well)
what did load was a copy of remix 6.xx (shock shock !) , but it choked and puked at random times .
sooo ... i went and got a copy of 7.1.2rc ... i was able to load it and it does work nicely ... for the most part .
there are three major issues :
microphone does not work
auto-rotate does not function
gps not found
and that is why i am here ... seeking help with these issues .
i have a theory that perhaps one of the true mobile builds might work but i have no idea on where to start .
there has been a lot of those units like i bought dumped on the market recently ...
i think they would make good units for kids to use (and adults as well) .
thanks for your time in advance .
ps ... i just discovered that this is the wrong section , please move to the general Q&A .

Hey Sherimran,
I'm also suffering the same problem as you.
I did a clean install of W10 and that's where all the problems began.
Nothings working except the display(not touch) and the usb ports.
Did you manage to get your hands on the drivers???
