[Q] looking for some voodoo control, voodoo sound help - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been through this place as best as I can (I've only got internet on my phone) and I can't find a decent guide for voodoo control. If any one could point me to a guide, I would greatly appreciate it.

the voodoo control app in the market allows for controlling of voodoo sound...and bln (market) or blinky (xda) will let you control backlightnotifications...and voodoo color is only useful on max brightness
as for the lagfix itself theres nothing to control...just disable/enable although voodoo toggle switch in the market is there if you dont/cant use the option in recovery or make a disable file urself

I should have explained myself better, I don't understand the volume control in voodoo control. I've been told to increase digital all the way and analog at like -20. I'm not sure how to distinguish between the analog and digital settings. Where are these controls? The options aren't very clear. Also, what am I supposed to do with poweramps settings?

Wow really no one can tell me more about this.

Adjust digital using the hardware volume buttons, adjust analog using the Headphone Amplifier slider in the Voodoo control app.

What about "force analog vol. keys"? Does that turn the hardware volume control into analog adjustments? Then how do you adjust digital, and is the eq board in poweramp a digital or analog adjustment?
Thanks ahead of time.

Vloume adjustments on stock 2.2

I was looking through the EMLlist and specifically at option 9.audio. Does someone know what the values can be changed to and which of the 21 does what? On my old samsung impression it was possible to adjust volume on the main speaker, headset, and bluetooth by changing the decible values. I know the streak is a whole different device so im not comparing only wondering. Thanks for any input

Nothing, noone? can anyone recomend a good way to boost the volume on this thing the output is quiet pathetic especially on the headphones

Poweramp has a preamp built into it as part of the graphic equalizer, which boosts the volume a lot the equalizer itself also has volume increasing effects, depending on the settings

[Q] Separate headphone and Ringer Volume Controls

All right I'm new to XDA community and hope this question hasn't already been posted under different description (which I can't seem to find). I'm an X iPhone user and had gotten accustom to the separate volume controls for the main/ringer volume and the headphone jack volume. My question/issue is, is there an app or a configuration change that I can apply to separate the two?
My ATRIX is rooted and I'm not shy with making modifications.
I don't mind having an additional volume control just would like to go from car using the Aux. to talking on the headset without blowing out my eardrums.
Thanks.
download an app like quick settings might work. don't remember as i really don't need it anymore.
Quick Settings does control some volume setting, but will not allow me to separate headphone volume from anyother control.

[Q] skip tracks with volume buttons?

Do you think it would be possible to enable it? It's a pain to change track with the touchscreen honestly..
I know that it's possible to do it with Cyanogenmod, so basically we need a ROM ?
I believe PlayerPro and Poweramp can do that, maybe some others. I use Cubed and it doesn't.
Poweramp can't do that
Are there any news on this front?
I'm guessing you want to control playback without looking at the screen.
I have the same need, so I got a Jabra Clipper.

Try Tactile Player from the market, free or paid. I've been using it with the N7 player and it works. Double click buttons to change tracks, that way you still have single click control of volume. Play/pause with power button clicks.
Just select emulate headset controls in the app.

Thank you very much for posting this. Works great with the stock music player.

That is GREAT! Thank you even though I have problems. It's a mess with voodoo sound, when I change track with a double press the track does change but the volume keeps rising I use PowerAmp but I suppose it's system-wide

It seems like it keeps rising but I don't think it actually does. After going forward a few tracks you see the volume bar getting higher, but if you hit the volume down to make it quieter the volume actually hasn't moved.
Great app, but it's irritating that if you hold down one of the volume buttons it'll fly through tracks rather than turning the volume up or down substantially.
I'm still gunna use it though, this is exactly what I've been looking for to use while driving. It's such a pain in the ass to unlock the thing, go to the music player and find the right spot on the touchscreen to skip tracks while driving.
the analog volume does rise with voodoo sound at the point you can't stand it, maybe you don't use voodoo sound? and yeah the fact that you can't change the volume without getting crazy is a problem :-(
I thought the player did not support voodoo sound since it does not use the Wolfson chip???

I think the 4.0 players have the Wolfson chip, 5.0's use the Yamaha AFAIK.
yes I have the 4.0 player, what are you using?
I'm on US 5.0 player.
I'm not too concerned since I have Wolfson chip on two other devices. And the Yamaha chip doesn't sound 'bad' just not as good as the Wolfson.
you could always get one of those "shake" to change tracks apps then you don't have to worry about volume changing when skipping tracks.

[APP][Perseus] HeadphoneAmpControl 03/26/2013

REQUIRES PERSEUS KERNEL 34.2 OR ABOVE
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any damage this app may cause.
This app is now open sourced and is available at:
https://github.com/EternalMelody/HeadphoneAmpControl
This app allows the user to handily change Headphone Amplifier Levels. Root access is required for file permission changes to the following files:
-"/sys/class/misc/wolfson_control/headphone_left"
-"/sys/class/misc/wolfson_control/headphone_right"
Two launchers can be found in the app drawer. One launches the Control app, another launches an overlay dialog for quick amplification level changes.
App Guide:
-Balance L/R toggle: Toggles amplification level balance between the left and right channels. When checked, disables the right channel seekbar and copies the left channel amplification level value to the right channel.
-Main seekbars: Current amplification level values. The top one is left channel's, bottom one is right channel's. The minimum and maximum values are defined by "Min level" and "Max level".
Control App Guide:
-Min level seekbar: Minimum amplification level that is settable by the main seekbars. Cannot be higher than safety level or max level.
-Max level seekbar: Maximum amplification level that is settable by the main seekbars. Cannot be lower than safety level or min level.
-Toggle service (notification bar shortcut): Enables notification shortcut. Must be checked to enable safety level. Notification only appears when headset is currently plugged in.
-Toggle volume button hack: Automatically sets checked volume type to almost max. The volume buttons can then be used to directly adjust amp levels, depending on context. The seekbar determines amp level jump.
-Hack music volume: Enables volume button hack for music, media, video, and games volume
-Hack voice call volume: Enables volume button hack for voice call volume
-Hack ring volume: Enables volume button hack for call ringtone volume
-Safety level: When headset is plugged in the first time, the current amplification level is compared with the safety level. If current level is higher than the safety level, then the current level is lowered to the safety level.

Any explanation about what this mod does? Must be based on stock ROMS or AOSP/AOKP works too?
Re: [APP] HeadphoneAmpControl
Thanks for this, one of the handier features I've missed from the Voodoo days.

Check the Perseus kernel thread in original dev.
Perseus only works with Samsung-based ROMs, Andreilux just implemented a new audio engine & this app allows for on the fly headphone amp volume changes, either unified or broken down to left/right channels. Stweaks has the same functionality under the audio tab, but also does every other kernel tweak, & it's slow & janky.

What onslaught86 said. By the way, I see from your sig that you are using NEAK kernel. Would you mind trying whether or not my app works with that kernel? I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Nevermind, I tested it myself and it doesn't work on NEAK. They have different implementations of Boeffla Sound.
Volume button hack added
I've tried using this, but the problem is that I can't find a way to keep both volume notifications from popping up.
On top of that, each time the volume is changed, the system interprets it as if it were a headphone disconnect, and whatever you are playing stops playing. So either you have to disable that setting in all your apps and take the risk of blaring something if your headphones get unplugged, or just never adjust the volume.
Anyone know how to get around these problems? The first one is just an annoyance, but the second one makes it unusable for someone like me (who constantly adjusts the volume).
I use many headphones, so being able to control hiss would be nice. Perhaps it would be better to use profiles that are user selectable, and then use the digital control to make minor modifications?

Unfortunately there's no easy way that I know of to get around the first problem with the volume button hack. If this functionality were to be embedded in a ROM then its possible but as an app it can only rely on volume change intents.
I can't reproduce the second problem though.
By the way, in the meantime, you can still use the app without the volume button hack.
Interesting. When ASOP is stable on our phone, I'm going to come back to this. If needed, I can make my own mods to make things work the way I want. Will share if that's the case. Hate manufacturer "features". Like stupid WIndows 8 and all the preinstalled Metro apps.
nice work
Awesome job thanks for all the hard work works great...I wish there something like for Bluetooth headsets for phones call I hate the low volume level on the note 2
Rockin it from my Macknote2

Hey EternalMelody,
First, thanks very much for this nice app. great job!
Regarding the quoted discussion, any chance that the first problem can be solved via an xposed framework module?
The second one can be reproduced if you use youtube and try to adjust the volume. I think it's because adjusting the volume is causing the headphone amp to jump to the foreground and sends youtube to the background so it automatically pauses.
Thanks, and keep up the good work! :good:
First of all, I wanna say thank you for this nice app
But there's one thing which I don't like.. The sliders for the Balance are too big and the circle is not at the end of the line :/ I managed to get rid of the to big circles with resizing them from 64x64 to 32x32. Now everything's fine(except that they're not at the end of the line, but that is hard to notice anyway. )
Would be great if you could fix that one
Great app, have been using it with Perseus for a long time now and it makes my Note2 the primary music player for me now.
Wonder if you'd consider making the app work with the NEAK kernel for Note 2 as well? I'd do it myself but i haven't a clue how to do it. I want to move away from TW roms and NEAK is the only kernel with Boeffla sound on AOSP as far as I know.

[Q] volume rockers no longer control ringer volume, only notification volume

Updated to the note 3 about a month ago. The volume rockers used to control the ring volume which is what I want. They now only control notification volume.
Yes I know, pressing the button opens up the slider and I can maintain all the volumes from there.
I want to control ringer volume with the side volume buttons.
Anyone have any idea how this got changed or how I can revert back?
So no one knows how to change the settings for the side volume rockers? Am I missing a simple solution?
Are you running a live wallpaper? There are a few out there that make the device think it's playing some type of media, therefore, only trigger the media volume when adjusting the volume. If this isn't the case I'm not sure why your device is stuck on pulling up the notification volume instead of the ringer volume.

Honestly have no clue...maybe a bit more info will help....what rom are u running? Any mods you may have flashed? Have you thought about flashing a stock rooted rom? Just throwing out some suggestions. ..I haven't ever seen or heard of this but that's what I would do if it happened to me.
Good luck...it sounds very Irritating.

Thanks for the heads up on the live wallpaper. I never run them though. This Note is completely stock and unrooted. It's killing me not to root it. I have been waiting hoping for a work around on tripping the knox counter. In the meantime, this little glitch is driving me nuts. Thanks for the suggestions.
Start uninstalling apps until you figure it out. If that doesn't work then think about a factory reset.
